Excellent selection of sandwiches, served on beautiful vintage China. Good selection of cakes. Warm scones and jam and cream. Very good value for money. Nice staff and unique setting

The lady that served us was so friendly and seemed happy on her work. The afternoon tea was 1st class lovely and fresh the sandwiches were newly made not mass produced like others I've had. The eating area was exceptionally clean and well set out.

As you can see from the title the Tea Room and Heritage Centre is located at Ridgmont Railway station which you can see from the M1 just south of Junction 13.It is also just off the A507 close to the colossal Amazon warehouse.In spite of all this busyness around it has the look of a quiet country station and a hospitable welcome.Since I last visited they have had a bit of a move around and there a is decent sized seating area inside the station for you to sit and have a drink and a snack. There is also an outdoor area with benches and umbrellas. There is also a stairlift to get in if you have mobility issues.There is a small shop if you want to buy some souvenirs from the museum as well.Everyone I met was very friendly and went out of their way to assist.Well worth checking out if you are in the area but make sure you check the opening times.

First things first, the ladies that manage and serve were absolutely lovely.. so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The very friendly lady who served us, spoke so kindly and enthusiastically to my daughter, convincing her to have a sandwich.. which they made specially and cut the crusts off (which we didn’t ask for, but meant the lady was psychic too.. as my daughter would never have ate it). They also gave her a sprinkling of Pom bears :) Every piece of food that they served was delicious and everything so thoughtfully presented.. they warmed the scones, and my sandwich came with a side salad and homemade coleslaw. It’s such a unique location, and the countryside around is very pretty. Don’t hesitate to visit.. you really won’t regret it. Thank you so much x x x

Met family for morning coffee and had a lovely relaxed morning in the outside seating area. Very friendly service and great coffee and cake. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I had afternoon tea here and what a little gem it is. Very friendly, struggled to eat all the sandwiches and what a choice, thenlemon posset, then scones and cake! Thankfully what we couldn't manage was boxed up for later. Highly recommend

Amazing fruit scones, warm from the oven and everything served on vintage style crockery by friendly staff. Thank you ladies for a lovely relaxing couple of hours.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Very cute little tea room, amazing food and so much of it. No shortage of fillings and lovely fresh and varied bread. The service was amazing too, very good value for money and we will definitely be revisiting.

Had heard good reports about this venue so made a special journey (as it's tucked away and not all that easy to find) to visit. Didn't book as this is only advised for weekends, but did check on the website before starting out - showed as open. Arrived to find the place closed! Wasted journey ......and therefore not inclined to potentially waste any more time there in future. If you have a website and decide to close your establishment - for whatever reason - during times you would normally be open please be considerate enough of your potential customers to put a note on the website. Obviously unable to realistically comment on food or value (though the pictures and other reviews suggest they are good) but consideration for customers clearly not great.

Treated a friend to Afternoon Tea and wow what a good find ! It’s perfect!There was so much food that we had to leave some .The room is nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly.Infact I have been back twice now for lunch with different friends and they have fallen in love with the place. There is a good choice of food on the lunch menu with a selection for vegetarian & vegan too.We have booked for Mothering Sunday already

First off, finding the place is a Challenge Anneka problem. Stuck down an industrial estate road at a small railway station, you’d be forgiven for bypassing it entirely. Don’t!Inside is a quirky selection of railway memorabilia and two rooms serving cakes coffees and teas. I had scone and butter - utterly delicious - and coffee.Well worth visiting - an absolute treasure of a place!

We called in for lunch and had a very good cheese ham and pickle toastie. Plenty of filling with a side salad. Ordered a filter coffee which came in a pot so 3 cups each. The bone china tea/coffee service is a lovely touch.

The tea rooms are in a great setting of an old restored railway station house. The food is excellent for a small cafe especially the soups and cakes , no large main meals served. Next door is a shop selling various items mainly for railway lovers. The adjoining heritage centre (The old booking office and waiting room) are restored and have local railwayana - very interesting

My sister treated me to afternoon tea here. Neither of us had been before but both of us were delighted by both the quality of the food and also the service. The lady owner was very nice, chatty and obliging. There was a lovely choice of sandwiches that came with a little salad. Then we had themost delicious fruit scones, they were light and moist with jam and clotted cream, truly fabulous, there were also little meringues with cream and chocolate dipped strawberries, what with plenty of tea and coffee it was a great afternoon!

Excellent tearoom. Superb service and very good tea, coffee and cakes. The next door museum a day shop are worth a visit too.

On a recommendation from a colleague, I took my wife here for a treat. As we’d been told it was a very busy place, we booked over the phone before hand. When we were told that it was cash only, no payment by card.

Cakes and tea and a museum in the old ticket office.lots of memorabilia about the railway line and history of the station .

We went with friends and had booked for the set tea. Whilst this was very nice and plentiful had we known there was such a full menu of sandwiches , jacket potatoes , cakes etc we might well have gone for something from this menu. Place is clean and atmospheric. Staff very friendly and attentive. Think they need to trim the price of the set tea a bit to remain competitive but I guess as the place is quite busy they feel they have it set right , perhaps they are right. It was sometime ago that we went and haven't been back. We will go back soon but won't be having the set tea !!! Looking forward to trying a sandwich in such an unusual setting soon.

A gem in the Bedfordshire countryside, the small attention to detail is exquisite. All home made sandwiches and cakes which are lovely.

I've been popping in here over the last year or so, They do a great latte and the scones are srummy, with plenty of cream and jam. Very child friendly and dog friendly too. The owner is very attentaive and accommodating. Its very quaint and kept as much to its original state as possible. Lovely to visit with friends or family, but also solo,am always made to feel very welcome.

Despite booking a few weeks ago the tearooms was closed! I specified today and a time 2 weeks ago over the phone. According to website it is open tues to sun. My phone number was taken so I could have been contacted if a problem. After travelling 30 mins it was closed and noone answered the doorbell. My mum was left extremely disappointed and I wasted time and petrol travelling here. We wont be back.

When you ask someone what do you want for your 85th birthday and the answer is not a lot, actually nothing you have to think of something else!

Busy but staff attentive. Selection of food on offer ranged from soup, jacket pots and sandwiches. Food good, prices reasonable, ambience good — reminiscent of a Victorian tea room with crockery of that period

We visited for breakfast and tea. It was great to look around the shop and museum and get to see the old railroad items. We enjoyed the meal and the staff were all very helpful and attentive.

We celebrated a birthday with another delicious visit to Ridgmont. The scrummy sandwiches were freshly made and varied. Lemon posset a delight but the greatest treat was the warm scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. They were light and 'melt in the mouth'. Service was great and the ambience lovely. We will return!

Took my friend who was visiting for afternoon tea and had a very pleasant couple of hours. Lovely food , nice staff, tea constantly topped up and given left overs in a sweet little box.

Arrived on the train, looked around the heritage centre and small shop then sat down for a delicious afternoon tea. Lovely selection of fresh sandwiches, small quiches, fruit scones with cream and jam, small cakes and a lemon posset half way through!

My friend booked a table for our arrival on the train this morning and let them know about my son’s food allergies. Reassured that this wouldn’t be a problem, we arrived today to a warm welcome and a beautiful setting.

We visited on. a Tuesday morning, the venue was not busy but some tables were reserved for lunch. Parking at the adjacent station carpark was plentiful and free. Decor of the tearoom is very pretty, and the shop would be if interest to some; it sells souvenir mugs, keyrings and suchlike. Quality of the coffee and cake we had was not the finest, but we would visit again. Pricing was very reasonable, £10 for the three of us.

Excellent sandwiches and home made soup, all on pretty china. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shop and museum were also good with some fascinating photos and other railway artefacts.

We came for a visit to the Heritage Centre and included a very nice lunch in the Tea rooms. Food was very nice although unfortunately on the day we went they didn't have home-made soup. Worth the trip.

Went with my mum and grandparents who both have limited mobility, it was a lovely outing for them, the tea rooms were set out lovely and the food was good. It was lovely to see them thoroughly enjoying it, will definitely be taking them back.

This delightful place is just off the M1 and an infinitely better stopping off point than any service station. Fantastic cakes.

Recently my wife and I, with some friends, had a small train ride to visit the Ridgmont Station Tea Rooms and my what a quaint little haven this is. Apart from delicious looking afternoon teas/cakes etc. some main meals were available, tho' understandably a limited choice as it is a very small business. The lunch, Stilton and Cranberry pie (though I was tempted with the corned beef) was superb home cooking, piping hot, which was all the more welcoming on an awful cold and wet winter day. The rooms are tastefully decorated, bright warm with a cosy atmosphere and really friendly staff in a pleasant little oasis you wouldn’t come across on any normal day’s activity.

Just spent a great couple of hours having afternoon tea here. The food was lovely and they were very inventive and accommodating with our dietary requirements. Very friendly staff too. Highly recommended!!

We dropped into the tea room as we were looking for somewhere interesting for lunch. You have to pre-book the afternoon tea so we weren't able to have that (it looked really delicious!). So I had the falafal wrap and my mum had the beetroot and cheese pie. Both dishes were lovely (if a little pricey - but the place is so unusual that we didn't mind paying a bit extra).

Cozy tea room with a nice choice of cooked food and cakes. I had the corned beef pie which was delicious. The exotic fruit cake was equally good. Pleasant service and nice welcome. Free parking at the station.

The perfect tea room. I can safely say this was the best cream tea I have ever had and they didn't stint on the jam and cream either. Lovely period surroundings and beautiful china teapots and crockery. Very close to J13 of the M1 and a perfect stop for lunch or afternoon tea. Highly recommended.

Scones are everywhere but good scones are very hard to find, so this is a rare and lovely place to find them. It's a great pity that there are no signs to alert travellers to its existence, considering that in many counties even small campsites get a brown sign, let alone pubs and tea rooms: it makes a lovely and convenient stop at Jct.13 on the M1 - but only if you already know about it. Spread the word!

We were taking grandkids on a railway adventure and part of our route was Bedford to Ridgemont and return. We called in on the off chance that we would be able to get a drink. Although all tables were reserved for lunch, they kindly let us use a table for drinks and a piece of the delicious cakes on offer.

Visited on a sunny midweek afternoon with our 2 large, hairy and wet dogs (we'd all been swimming!) and sat outside on the porch. Our welcome couldn't have been warmer nor our meal tastier. We're returning shortly.

We wanted to have a destination for our trip on the delightful little railway, Bedford/Bletchley. Heard good things about Ridgmont, so rang this morning to book a table. They were full until Friday, but I asked about sitting outside and that was ok. Fortunately weather forecast was good!

Need to book, not cheap, but fun. Small museum which is a bonus. Easy to get to by train, but parking avaiable.

We popped in here whilst our friends visited a doggie hydrotherapy session up the road. The hostess was lovely. We had a lovely cup of tea and cake. The rooms are beautiful and air conditioned in this heat - heaven.

We were driving down the M1 from Yorkshire to Kent, and needed a lunchtime break. Not being fond of service stations, we turned off around Woburn, and saw a lovely old station at a level crossing. We realised there was a tea room, and ended up enjoying a salad, finished off with a gorgeous scone with jam and cream. The food was nice, and enhanced by the atmosphere of an old station building.

We booked this tea room on spec and were not disappointed- everything lovely - clean - not over fussy - lovely vegetarian option. Highly recommend for a traditional afternoon tea - even got updates on the train service when there was a problem !

Quite a standard and limited menu. Sandwiches were good and nice to have a gluten free option. No drinks menu but tea was good and nice selection of juices. No gluten free dessert option though as not being delivered until tomorrow. Lemon and blueberry cake my partner had was lacking any real taste. Unlike the one in a similar cafe in Ampthill which us amazing. Were told it was cash only when we were given the bill. Luckily we just had enough with us. Just lacked something. Felt a bit unwelcoming and not much atmosphere.

What a lovely treat! Took my family for afternoon tea and it was delicious. The service was impeccable and the food even better. I had prebooked and all my requirements were met. We all wanted plain scones and some kid friendly sandwiches and it ticked all the boxes. Everything was so tasty and fresh. Such a great way to spend time with my beautiful family. Highly recommend

Visited the Ridgmont Station Tea Rooms and Heritage Centre on June 5th. We booked our table but found early afternoon we were on our own, a pity really because the centre has so much to offer, mind you I understand lunch times can be busy. Had a lovely welcome from the lady in charge who soon tempted us with some delicious cakes, 'thoroughly recommend' the coffee and walnut, also the lovely china tea sets made it special. Afterwards we went into the Heritage Centre and the gentleman in the shop gave us an excellent tour round, the history of the Marston Vale line is fascinating.

I was treated by two friends to afternoon tea as a birthday present. It was lovely. China cups (tea tastes so much better in them) Lovely homemade cakes and scones, A big selection of sandwiches, Before going we had been asked if we had any dietary requests. . I have recommended some friends so go there and maybe we will travel by train. The owner could not have been more helpful and pleasant.

Took a friend for a treat wish l hadn’t . Did not feel welcome at all . Had to find somebody to ask about seating Arrived at 2.30 told tea and cake only eventually after questioning told other food was available. Tea cake burnt only 1 butter ,toasted sandwich charged( £1 extra not mentioned on menu) both served no serviette or cutlery.

Beautiful sandwiches, Loverly fresh bread, but the icing on the cake were the fantastic scones cream & jam, all home made.

Called in for lunch on our way home from Mk shopping. We received a very warm welcome and the lady was very quick and efficient. We had the most wonderful sandwich which was tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. Highly recommend! Already looking forward to the next visit.

Love these tea rooms - proper crockery, delicious food and lovely service. Veggies and vegans also catered for. Always book in advance as it’s a small venue with just a few tables and that’s part of its charm :).

They seem to only take forward bookings, you can't just decide on the day that it would be a great pace to visit. Also no that friendly on the phone, made one feel as though I had invaded their privacy. We have taken them off...

Really impressed with Ridgmont Tea Rooms (a hidden gem!) Very quaint, friendly staff. And the food was delicious! My only negative is that there isn't really much vegetarian choice other than cheese. However, I did have a very nice cheese panini... and a yummy slice...

My first visit of hopefully many more now I've been introduced to such a lovely little tea room locally. We had the Christmas afternoon tea which made a wonderful start to the festivities. The table looked really pretty and the sandwiches were fresh and delicious,...

What a way to kick off our Xmas! We came here as a part of our girls festive gathering and had a fantastic afternoon. The ladies who work here are attentive, welcoming and very friendly. The decor of the tea room is perfect and all the Xmas decorations make you feel very festive. The afternoon tea itself was just superb, the portions are very generous and the scones are to die for...as was all of it! We were able to bring our own prosecco to add a little fizz to our gathering with no problems at all. Would recommend this little tea room to all. Will be back!

Well worth the visit. This old village station is turned into a museum/heritage centre but most of all a scrumptious tea room. Décor very pretty, several rooms to eat in & nothing seems too much for the owner. The FOOD is plentiful and scrumptious. Oh by the way, did I say that the food was so tasty & scrumptious!!!? Booking needed.PS If you don't like tea, ask for coffee.

We had a lovely lunch at these tea rooms last week. Such a pretty little place with gorgeous china crockery, and the food was delicious. This was followed by a very informative visit to the little railway museum in the building. It's worth ringing the tea room first just to make sure they're open and not fully booked.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. We did ring before turning up and I would recommend doing so as the tea room is very small and they had other parties coming in so I think it's best to book. We ordered hot drinks, sandwiches and scones. The sandwiches were very nice, with vegetable crisps and salad on the side. The scones were amazing, warm and soft with lots of fruit and proper clotted cream and jam. We also visited the railway museum onsite which was interesting, especially if you're local. We will definitely return for lunch when we can. A hidden gem. Be advised the tea room is cash only.

When we first visited this tea room we thought it was lovely. The bone china cups were very pretty and the service excellent. However this time we were really disappointed. We arrived at about 10.15 for morning coffee and were asked if we had a reservation even though there were only two other ladies in the cafe. After some reluctance and a great deal of consideration we were allowed to stay. It was such an off putting reception that we felt thoroughly unwelcome and we shall not be returning.

What a lovely place! The afternoon tea is delicious. Sandwiches are generously filled and the cakes are a real treat - plenty of cream and jam to go with the scones. Excellent value for money, too.

Having concluded a lovely walk using using the above link we visited the tea rooms on a Saturday afternoon. After a short wait a table became available. The tea and cake was delicious and the venue was traditionally themed harking back to a bygone era. Nice souvenir shop on the same premises

Love this tea room in converted station rooms. Friendly staff, beautiful food and not expensive. Decor is beautuful. This was my second visit and would be happy to go there again.

3 of us had pre-booked Sunday afternoon tea - what a lovely lovely afternoon. Unique and quaint surroundings. Lovely tasty food - an array of sandwiches, delicate flavoursome mini quiches, scrummy scones with home made strawberry jam and clotted cream, strawberries, choux pastry and macaroons. Endless cups of tea too! Delightful and lovely traditional afternoon tea. Such a treat - will definitely be back.

Have taken station off my wish list. You can only book in advance. Every time I have rung they are full. Don't bother calling in 'on spec'. Woburn village is not far and they have tea rooms.

Myself, 2 friends and a baby visited today for a pre booked afternoon tea. I can honestly say that the place is beautiful and has a very nice atmosphere. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The food was lovely and plenty of it. Nothing was too much for the staff. Facilities were very clean and the price was very reasonable. We will be returning.

Called here for tea and sandwiches. A popular haunt judging by the people there. Food was good and lovely to have tablecloths and cups and saucers. There is also a little shop/ museum. Well worth a visit

Visited with a large group of friends and babies for a celebration. There was some slight confusion on the number of guests on arrival and it wasn't dealt with it the most friendly manner. The Venue is decorated with lovely memorabilia from the train station and fun vintage China just a shame the chairs were so ugly!! (Mix and match cheap dinning chairs and large conference chairs) which ruined the otherwise pretty stylings. The afternoon tea was good for the price and they catered for allergies. Good selection of sandwiches; cucumber, beef, ham, smoked salmon. I would have liked fresh bread or a better quality but overall it was good value. Gluten free sandwiches served with pakoras and houmous with crudités (not sure it really needed anything other than sandwiches but it was a nice added extra). The scones and cakes were delicious and served with lots of jam and clutter cream!

Was not sure what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. Warm welcome into a lovely tea room table well set with cups and saucers and plates with lovely designs on takes you back to your childhood and happy memories. Sandwiches were well filled and plenty of them little quiches and lovely savoury bits. Super scones with jam and clotted cream and a selection of little cakes. Just right. Teapot topped up as often as you liked. Well done all.

We were looking for somewhere different to treat my mum for her 80th birthday. She loves afternoon tea. We did a bit of research and saw lots of positive reviews on Trip Advisor for this tea room. Absolutely superb afternoon tea, probably the best we've had. The scones are delicious served with lots of cream and strawberry jam. Sandwiches are really tasty and freshly made plus endless cups of tea. Wonderful, atmospheric setting. Would definitely recommend. Will be going back for sure.

We loved our visit and would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful traditional cream tea, delicious sandwiches and savouries, tempting cakes and amazing scones with enough jam and cream to lavish on them! Endless pots of tea and in a wonderful setting! All served by a lovely lady who was so helpful. Will recommend to everyone I know!
