My friend and I only came in for drinks, so I can't give 5 stars as we didn't try the food. We shared a cocktail teapot - it's a cute idea and good value, so I'd recommend it just for that!

The waiting staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a long wait between drink service and food being served. When the food did arrive it was clear that it had overlooked and was cold, it went back and came back after being blasted in microwave, but side dishes not returned. It was too much like hard work eating out here and despite the friendly staff would not go back.

Sat outside on a beautiful day. Ordered our meal and drinks. The young lady was very helpful and said it took about 20 minutes as was cooked fresh . We were in no rush and was pleased with the whole experience. 5 out of 5 for the service and food.

From the long wait to be served between drinks and food service even though the restaurant wasn’t busy to being seated aside a large table of foul mouthed smokers in the non smoking section to the waiter spilling a tray of drinks over our table our food and my daughter ruining my new dress and her full outfit and food to the saddest looking limp salad consisting of 7 prawns and my assumption is defrosted avocado and over cooked loaded fries which didn’t even come loaded at first then came back recooked/burnt. The whole experience was a disaster and a disappointment !!!

I understand it’s the first week of them operating again ,but more than 1 hour wait for food it’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t mind if the food was worth it. I ordered a Pulled Pork hot dog , and what I got was Pulled bacon hot dog. As soon as the food arrived I could see it wasn’t pulled pork hot dog , I mentioned to waitress who replies “oh it’s just under the melted cheese” and went away. I doubled checked it and realised it was actually bacon cut in pieces !!! nothing close to pulled Pork. I didn’t even bother saying anything because I wasn’t willing to wait another hour for the food.... the chips were nice...

Undercooked food and under-staffed. We received a bunch of Luke-warm and fairly tasteless tapas, even the chips were still raw. No one checked us for 30 minutes as we sat waiting to pay up and leave. When mentioning the terrible food, the waitress took the plate and brought the bill with the item removed, fair enough but didn’t even ask if we were finished or if we wanted anything else/replacement.

Good quality and reasonably priced food, plenty of choice of drinks. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Also worth noting in these times we felt perfectly secure.

We had a lat tea, the place wasn't too busy and the staff were really friendy and GENUINE, Our food was all lovely and the decor was a little quirky without being over the top, ( the toilets were spotless)

I would like to give a 1 star review but in an effort to be fair and balanced I’ll go with 2. On a trip to Hull for some rare family time we decided upon this place for tea. All fine to begin with, our drinks were ordered and delivered quite quickly. We then waited 30 minutes for our food order to be taken. We ordered a ‘large’ bowl of nachos to share as a starter, they were tasty enough and came to the table after around 10 minutes. We sat...and sat, watching other tables around us being served with their food, then finishing it, despite having arrived after us. After around 40 minutes from placing our order, I asked the girl who had seated us (Paris) where our food was. She told me it hadn’t been long and we’d had a starter, before inexplicably going to get the ticket to demonstrate we’d waited 38 minutes and not 40, before scurrying away. Her attitude was incredibly terse and, frankly, crass. Our food arrived just as she left us at the table. All in all from walking in to being served mains, was 1 hour and 10 minutes. My vegan burger, with its promise of pickled ribbon salad looked extremely sorry for itself and was as dry as sticks. I sent it back and was asked by another, much more polite waitress, if I would like another plate. I thought it was probably quite pointless and asked for it to be removed from the bill. The meaty stuff my brother and partner had looked good and they reluctantly continued their meals at my insistence. We paid the £38.45 for a drink each, a small (“large”!!!) serving of nachos and 2 mains, one of our group having now not eaten. I spoke to Paris on the way out of the restaurant, to air my thoughts that she had spoken to me with a terrible attitude, and my disappointment as to the quality of the vegan option I chose. She was extremely argumentative, denying having been rude and clearly couldn’t bring herself to apologise for her behaviour. Suffice to say I wouldn’t touch this place with a barge pole.

Very cold outside, but inside a lovely warm welcome.grest choice of food so filling we have a starter and main and was stuffed.

Stopped off here to get out of the sudden downpour and decided to chance a beer. Orders are taken at the table and it was clear from how few tables existed how popular they are (it looks like a reservation may be prudent if you're looking to eat out here).I also ordered a bacon cheese fries snack, which was slightly burned and oily but okay to soak up the beer.We didn't stay too long, just enough to drink up and wait for the rain to pass, and went to eat elsewhere as we'd arranged to meet up with others.

I visited Hull with my family this summer. We had lunch at Riddler's and the food was so delicious and the staff was just so friendly, we went back for a coffee and for dinner!I warmly recommend this place, it is a perfect combination of a friendly atmosphere, but a budget friendly menu and the nicest staff you will ever encounter! Thank you Paris for your kindness :)

Popped in here as we had been several years ago to see if it was as good and we weren't disappointed. Great meal. Sweet chilli pulled pork burrito was gorgeous. Will definitely be back sooner!

We popped for a quick meal and we were very pleasantly surprised. The choice of food on the menu is very wide. It’s mostly spicy but there are sufficient choices if one of your group doesn’t want spicy. I had the chicken burritos and strongly recommend them. Delicious. Everything felt squeaky clean and service was excellent....polite, cheerful and speedy. We shared a bottle of Pino Grigio which was delicious and very reasonably priced, as is the food. We’ll definitely visit again.

Riddler's was a last minute choice on a rainy Friday night as we had been in Head of Steam choosing food but found out they had closed their kitchen. We were warmly welcomed by waitress Sara who was great fun and very friendly. Good selection of beers, excellent food and nice atmosphere. Also nice to see somewhere still doing Peri Peri chicken (take note Wetherspoons!) We'll be back.

met a friend for lunch didint know this place existed but what a pleasant suprise. Busy and now I know why food was very good (all made on premises) and very tasty. Now I know where it is will definately go again.

Saturday early afternoon wandered into the Trinity Square near the market. Outdoor entertainment was happening. Chanced upon this corner bar, with an appealing menu in the window.

This was a pleasant surprise. Outside seating in the quiet of the old market square vis a vis the Minister.The menu looked like fast food but the taste was far better. Nice beer, good service and friendly staff. I can recommend it.

I've visited many times and I've always happy with my visits they have a big menu with loads of options and vegetarian options I had the falafel burger which I really enjoyed needless to I will return again like I have done on several occasions . Also love the tapas .

Whilst trying to find something different to the usual chain pubs and bars we stumbled across this lovely place. Food was superb, service and staff outstanding, great value for money and good large portions. Will be returning again. Simply superb

Popped in with my daughter and 3 grandkids for food first time visited the atmosphere and look of the place inside was great friendly staff and food was great especially the tapas menu which I had king prawns calamari tie fish cakes and cod balls . Will definitely visit again

As the title says the gentleman who served was very polite and friendly no complaints there however I ordered a steak to be cooked rare and it came out almost well done. The 8 oz steak I ordered at £13.95 came out and looked tasty with a nice amount of pepper on top for seasoning however when I cut the steak open it was no where near rare and I tried a bit and there wasn't a huge amount of flavouring there besides the pepper. To be fair I could've complained in there but didn't want to deal with hassle as the steak should've been cooked correctly in the first place. The rest of the meal was lovely with the chips, mushrooms and tomato being cooked very well but the steak really let it down unfortunately.

An intriguing visit to Riddler’s where we ordered a gourmet hotdog and chicken burger. Very nice to say the least. However the bacon on both meals were over done.

Partners birthday so saw Pride then went to Riddlers for a meal. Pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and good food. What more could you ask for? Give it a try.

Great service and particularly helpful with allergy information. We were a party of 5 who had meet up for a pre theatre meal, with one being allergic to milk and nuts.The menu offered a choice for vegetarians and vegans and Tina, our server, went to find out what meals would be suitable for our milk and nut allergy sufferer. The chef went to great lengths to change the meal to make it suitable and enjoyable. A really good experience. Well done to all.

Me and my husband ate here today. The food was delicious. I ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly to what I had asked for. My husband really enjoyed his burger too. Lovely customer service from the lady serving us I unfortunately didn’t get her name but she was very nice and was interested in what I thought of the 2 different gins I tried. We will definitely come back here!

We had planned a meal elsewhere and found ourselves changing our mind and wanting something simple. Riddlers provided that, with quick and friendly service and a choice of seating. Not expensives, but good pub food.

Very good service from the staff in a well kept restaurant area. A good selection of food, the only downside was that the drinks were a bit poor (coke wasn't right) but we would be back again if in the area. Overlooks the Minster

Having bite to eat before attending Prosecco festival at the minster, didn’t think to book & on arrival was extremely busy. Staff so friendly & found us a table explaining the wait time for food, ordered drinks & food arrived not long after, both meals were delicious, lovely presentation & staff smiley & efficient, always enjoy it here. Would recommend

Cracking service very polite attentive and happy staff , and not one complaint on either service or the food as we all ate at the same time with hot food. We visited on an busy Sunday evening and shown to a table for two. A pleasant waitress took our drinks order and we scanned the menu. The food that was leaving the kitchen looked decent enough. My wife wanted the fish and chips but sadly they had sold out so she opted for Beef Brisket instead, the waitress informed her that she had made a good choice and it was batter than the fish and chips. I ordered a chicken burger. This was all done at 5.30! As we sat we realised that the couple to the side of us, who had been in longer had not even had their drinks order taken. We sat in what was a fairly pleasant atmosphere for some time and wondered after 30 mins where our food was, we hadn't been told that there was a wait on food so would have expected to have received it by now. We looked around and realised that quite a few tables that were in there before us also didn't have their food. We waited a total of 50 mins for our food, totally unacceptable, if we had been informed that there was a lengthy wait for food we could have made the decision to stay or leave?! When the food arrived I was gobsmacked, my wife was looking at what can only be described as an insipid looking school dinner from the 1970's. It didn't taste much better either, the fact that we were both ravenous by this stage my wife at the beef and a few none descript potatoes and left the stewed and soggy spring vegetables to the side. We had no check back and even when the waitress came to collect the plates she didn't ask us how our meal was, even though she could blatantly see that my wife had left most of hers. The plate wasn't very big at all and for £9.95 I would recommend you all steer clear of that dish. My Chicken burger was ok, but in all honesty, the beat thing about my meal was the chips. As much as the staff in there smile, we definitely won't be returning.

Friends and I had tapas and hanging beef kebab. Tasty and well presented. Helpful and attentive staff who waited the table even on a busy Friday night. Cocktails good too.

Food was great no doubt about that. I had the Indian feast burger and it was lovely also a pretty big portion so good value. We were waiting 50 mins for a table of 4 and then after we finished we waited for 25 minutes just to pay.

It was my first visit, but was recommended by friends.

Ate here on a Saturday evening around 6.15 before a concert at Hull Minster. Food was great, with a good choice for both veggies and meat eaters. Tempura veg especially recommended. Great value for money and friendly service. Not my choice of background music, but a lot quieter than all the other venues in the area. Will definitely be going again

Popped in here for lunch today we ordered 2 starters both of which where lovely.My son ordered the smoked chicken burger whoch came with skin on fries and i ordered the Sirloin steak this came with fries,fried mushrooms,grilled tomato and 3 onion rings.Both meals where hot and tasty and reasonable value the steak was cooked well.Simone our waitress was lovely and friendly and you could tell she enjoyed her job,she informed us that tge coca cola was not a brand coke and let us taste a little before we decided on a drink,im so glad she did this for us as i would have begrudged paying for 2 large cokes (it did not taste good really sweet for a diet option).Thanks for that Simone and we will be back to try more things off your menu.

So pleased we found Riddlers, really saved my Saturday night when visiting Hull. I have quite a few intolerances and follow a strict diet which makes eating out a real chore and difficult to find somewhere suitable. Simone came to take our food order and it was such a joy to have an easy and fuss free experience. Immediately Simone suggested what she could do for me and nothing was too much trouble. It was lovely to not feel awkward and when the food I was equally impressed. As a result we had a fantastic evening and will definitely be returning when we next visit Hull. Just wish we wasn’t 4 hours away so it could be more frequent.

We arrived mid afternoon and asked to reserve a table for 8 people.

We love this place and tonight was no exception. Well actually that's an understatement. A lovely tea visit with hubby and I had the tikka masala for the first time and wow, just wow. It has to be THE BEST tikka masala I have ever tasted. Riddlers do not let your chef go, ever!! The food is amazing, the staff are the most attentive and friendly you will ever find and the price is right. Thank you for another delicious visit.

Came across this place quite by chance when we were looking around for somewhere to have an early dinner on the Bank Holiday, as lots of places were closed.

Best burgers in hull great choice and variety definitely value for money. Arrived very busy but seated quickly menu full of choice covering many different options burgers hanging kebabs and salads all explained by the server. We ordered Mexican burgers and a Indian fest burgers wow washed down with prosecco great way to spend a chilled Friday night. Cocktail manu is definable worth a viewing also ..... Definitely worth a visit....

i have passed this place plenty of times but never thought of eating here. We were looking for somewhere to eat on a busy Friday evening bank holiday . We went into a few other places serving food but they were mostly full of just drinkers which we didn't fancy. We saw a few people eating through the windows so decided to give it a try.

First visit here and certainly not our last. We had the cheeseburger which was homemade and delicious, the staff were really friendly and service good too I highly recommended Riddlers

Myself and 2 colleagues shared the Tapas last Tuesday evening (7/8/2018) here and really enjoyed it. The deals are excellent value as you can get 5 different dishes for just over £20 and that was enough for all of us.

Went here for an end of term meal with teacher colleagues and had a great time. Fab service, great food and drinks choice, very tasty! Will definitely be back after 12 happy customers, including 2 vegetarians and a lactose intolerant guest!

We called into to Riddler's by chance. the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, especially as one of us was in a wheelchair. There was a reasonable selection of food and we highly recommend the steak pie.

This place is located overlooking the tranquil serene water features next to Hull Minster. There is seating outside to enjoy the ambiance and views. The food was good as was the beer however the service provided by the friendly staff was superb.

It was our first time here for food and it was amazing. I ordered a rump steak hanging kebab and my husband a burger. Both meals were extremely tasty and great value for money. The service we received was attentive and the best we’ve had anywhere in ages. We will definitely return.

During the 2 days of sun we decided to stop by for a birthday meal.. well priced lunch menu with a nice selection of drinks. Popped in with my daughter for lunch. Delicious! We both had a light bite menu choice, so ciabatta one with posh fish fingers and the other with hot tandoori chicken. Lovely side salad with dressing! Excellent idea to add the chips, very crispy with skin on, yum! It’s good choice.

Nice place but not the kind of restaurant to go for a intimate dinner as it's very loud. Meals came out quicker than we expected (before the cocktail we ordered) so was a little hard to eat with a drink to go with it. Meal was pretty average. They didn't have the fish cakes I was after but went for the falafel burger which was quite nice. Partner had a burrito with chips which he also liked. Cocktail we ordered was very nice! Loved that it came in a teapot so we could share. Can't fault the service and price of the whole meal!

In Hull to see a gig at Hull Civic Hall and decided to call in Riddlers as they took Taste card. We both went for burgers and they were delicious, best we've had in some time, very tasty. Couldn't manage the fries though, light weights! With the taste card came in at a nice price as well.

Tried to book this restaurant using the Tastecard, only to be told this cannot be done in December. I challenged this as the official "Tastecard" website said that bookings were accepted during December. Manager was not willing to honour the booking as advertised - poor service. I felt sufficiently let down by this stance and won't be taking my trade to this restaurant. Short sighted by the management as bring more than a dozen people for food and lots and lots of drink has cost the business heavily.

After a long day shopping me and my friend was looking for somewhere to eat we decided to go to riddlers when we looked in most tables was reserved or occupied, I asked a member of staff if there was any un reserved tables available to which she said no and walked away no offer to get a drink and wait or an alternative offer. Now I understand places get busy but lake of customer service will stop me ever returning busy or not all it would of taken was for the girl to say it's going to be a long wait or that waiting wasn't possible but just to say no without explanation is very very disappointing.

Second time in here and always it's the service that is outstanding the staff are attentive but not in your face the food is of good quality it's a must for a treat when coming to Hull

Nice bar nice food but BBQ burger came with no BBQ and fries came with jalapeños when we requested without, decent cocktails.

Use to come here quite often for cocktails despite food never being great (the cocktails made up for it.) Lately even cocktails aren't as nice as they used to be, serving you with 80% ice for a teapot - not on. Won't be hurrying back any time soon

We were with another couple and doing a reconoitre for our men taking a group of gentlemen to Hull and the museums next week. We were greeted and seated by a lovely young lady. The menu is quite extensive, but with a smaller menu of specials. That suited us. Portions are generous and all that we had was home cooked. The place is interesting with lots of implements and tools on display on the walls and ceiling. The men will be back soon.

Went on a Saturday early evening for a drink initially and then dinner. Service from the staff was very friendly and very quick bringing drinks to table each time a round was ordered. The food (went for mains and not the tapas) came and was a big portion and whilst not fancy was tasty. Would recommend even if just as a bar to have a drink with friends.
