We only had lunch at the Chinese Restaurant

We walked-in from travelling from Edinburgh, hence, we didn't use their hotel service. The food was delicious and the portions were huge.

Basic hostel, no breakfast available. Close to the Caledonian Canal and the Lochs at Fort Augustus. Good for 1 night during our Great Glen trekking...

We had our lunch here when visiting the village. Had Chinese food and it tasted fine.

The hotel team is not very friendly and when we arrived there we didn‘t feel very welcome. The owners have a chinese restaurant and they are more focused on that than having a hotel. The rooms are small and offers the minimum. The room wasn‘t clean at all, hair in the shower and some stains on our bedsheets. The little village is really nice but you don‘t really have to stay for a night.

Visitado en mayo 2018. Después de la travesía por el Lago Ness, teníamos el tiempo justo para comer antes de coger el bus de regreso. Entramos en este local, en ese momento como suele decirse estaba abarrotado, no había lugar para sentarse, hablando con el dueño amablemente nos hizo pasar a una pequeña sala que utiliza alguna vez como comedor. Estuvimos a gusto en esa pequeña habitación alejado del ruido, hicimos acopio de fuerzas y dimos las gracias al propietario por su amabilidad. Las fotos que hicimos hablan por sí sola. Gratos recuerdos.

Fantastic Chinese food to eat in or take away. We were staying local and had a couple of Takeaways.

Excellent food and serve. Prices a little on the high side but large portions!

Didn't like it at all..we didn't stay in hotel but had dinner in the restaurant..dinner was OK but wouldn't go back..was only place that was serving food..

The food was lovely but the service was awful. The food came on plates and we had to ask for for plates to eat off of and a serving spoon! It felt a bit like Faulty Towers. They didn't get our drinks order right and took ages to get the bill! As we were on holiday it didn't matter too much as we wouldn't be going back!

Found this place following a google search and liked the look of the food posted. Turned up for our meal, somewhat surprised to find it was a Chinese restaurant not as shown in the photos. Turns out the recently changed it over but pics not updated doh! After the initial confusion, still are here. Food was very good and service also. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

My partner and I booked one night here on our Scotland holiday. No mention of the hotel being attached to restaurant. There was no partition separating the restaurant from the rooms so you could hear everything going on downstairs. Cutlery being dropped, telephone ringing for takeaway orders, people talking etc etc. The plumbing was particularly terrible and incredibly loud. We could hear other guests using the shower and toilets at all hours. We were asked to write our breakfast choices down for the next morning which we did and duly handed in. There wasn't much point. We asked for cereal and got toast. The one poor woman serving was getting pulled left right and centre by guests asking for things they'd not received such as hot drinks or even their food. The room was clean enough and tidy with nice complimentary toiletries but nowhere near worth the £95 we paid for one night. If you're planning on visiting Fort Augustus I wouldn't bother. Not much to do. Not worth the stay. Maybe a visit passing through but not an overnight. Definitely avoid this place unless you're desperate (like we were as everywhere else booked up!)

Hotel, Chinese restaurant and pub all in one. Very slow breakfast service but overall nice and clean with friendly staff.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The Chinese food was ok, beer garden was a bit noisy later in the evening.

Stayed in the accommodation. It very clean and well kept. Bed was very comfy. Although situated on the main road, it was surprisingly quiet. Restaurant below was delicious. Staff were friendly and service was always with a smile and a wave. Would highly recommend to travellers who is looking for a pit stop going into skye especially with the added bonus of not needing to hunt for a delicious meal.

Came here to watch the football as it's description as whisky bar with pub food sounded perfect. Arrived to find that it...kinda is a bar, but is mostly actually a Chinese restaurant. The food was amazing The atmosphere was great Scotland held England to a draw at Wembley Would highly recommend

We stopped for a pint in their beer garden at the rear of the hotel. Friendly staff, good service and thankfully a gas heater in the beer garden tent. Although it’s May, it’s freezing cold.

Comida de pub normal, no particularmente buena, ¡pero funciona después de un día en bicicleta bajo la lluvia! El sistema unidireccional se implementó como se esperaba durante la era covid, pero en este pub solo involucraba una línea dibujada en cinta en el medio de la habitación delgada con flechas, por lo que en realidad no es un sistema unidireccional. Algo que no nos preocupa tanto pero que otros podrían estarlo. Hay otros lugares para comer en Fort Augustus que tienen mejor comida. Buen lugar para tomar una copa y ver el fútbol, pero con buen ambiente.

Staff were lovely but the bed was at slant hense kept rolling out ! Breakfast was good ! Loud traffic , but excellent loccation for watching boats going up and down the lock towards Loch Ness or onward towards Fort William ! Absolutely stunning scenery 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌅since the weather was exceptional for Scotland !

Sé que el mundo tiene nuevos desafíos en la era COVID, pero servir comida de mala calidad no debería ser uno de ellos. Comida decepcionante con cordero sin sabor, servido con verduras enlatadas y puré de grumos. Ahora lamento no haber caminado los 5 minutos extra hasta el Boathouse Inn.

Lovely little hotel, staff were wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfy! Cracking fish and chips as well.

No se equivoque, no coma aquí. La comida es espantosa. Teníamos ensalada de salmón que tenía un bulto gris seco de algo que pertenecía al salmón. Enviado de vuelta y el chef (?) Tuvo el descaro de argumentar que estaba bien. Partner comió gambas y patatas fritas que podrían haber hecho feliz a un niño, pero sabían a grasa y estaban grasosas.Toman su dinero con un pedido, lo cual no es una buena señal.¡Pasar hambre es una mejor opción!

A lovely place to stay, very friendly owner and highly recommend. Food brilliant too and ample parking to the rear. Would definitely stay here again.

Me alojé aquí por 2 noches. El único problema que tuve fueron las escaleras hasta mi habitación en el segundo piso. El dueño fue asombroso. Nada era demasiado problema. El desayuno estuvo buenísimo. Ciertamente estábamos preparados para el día. La cama era cómoda. Me quedaría aquí de nuevo!

Lovely, quiet pub a little off the main strip. The food was home made and good value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient. Definitely would recommend.

La habitación que nos dieron estaba en lo más alto de dos horribles tramos de escaleras. . (bastante peligroso en mi opinión)El edificio es antiguo y las paredes son finas como el papel. . en un momento pensé que había otras personas en nuestra habitación. . . .El personal estuvo bien. . La electricidad se apagó en las primeras horas de la mañana. . . No podría usar secador de pelo, etc. . el desayuno era la mitad de lo que debería haber sido. pero para ser justos, esto no fue realmente culpa de los propietarios. Pero no volveríamos a este. . debido a las escaleras

We frequently went for lunch and dinner at the bar, and cannot sing enough praises of this place. The staff are absolutely lovely and the food was amazing. It was so warm and welcoming and I highly recommend it be anyone’s go to place in Fort Augustus.

Avec une amie, nous avions organisé un road trip en Ecosse de fin août à début septembre. 16 hôtels, 1 voiture de location et les billets d'avion réservés fin janvier, début février. Et le covid est arrivé malheureusement. A cause du virus 2 hôtels ont annulé notre réservation et easy jet a annulé nos vols. Nous avons donc décidé d'annuler notre séjour et de le reporter à la même période en 2021. Le loueur de voiture, Easy jet nous remboursent. 14 hôtels, même ceux qui étaient "non remboursable ou non modifiable" nous remboursent ou nous font 1 avoir. 14 hôtels sauf 1, le richmond hôtel. Si tous les autres hôtels ont répondu au mail que je leur avais envoyé, le Richmond Hotel n'a pas répondu. Il ont répondu quand je leur envoyé 1 second mail. Et devant les complications mises en avant par cet hôtel pour obtenir 1 remboursement (demande d'annulation par paypal alors que paypal n'est qu'un moyen de paiement et non une centrale de réservation) nous avons préféré abandonner et tant pis si nous perdons 90 £ avec le Richmond hôtel, nous savons que les Ecossais dans leur grande majorité (14 hôtels sur 15 nous remboursent. Bravo à eux) sont des gens raisonnables, compréhensifs et généreux, surtout en cette satanée période de covid. Par contre le Richmond Hôtel !!!

Wir haben dieses Restaurant zufälligerweise beim Spazieren gesehen und hatten Glück, ohne Reservation einen Tisch am Mittag zu erhalten. Draussen hat es auch eine Terrasse.Der Raum ist schön eingerichtet. Bedienung war am Tisch – nach dem Essen war die Bezahlung dann am Bar. Die Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut. Wir hatten eine leckere Tagessuppe und je einen feinen Beef Burger bestellt. Preis/Leistung stimmt.Die 2 Damen im Service waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Haben uns bei Bier sowie bei Menü-Auswahl beraten.Wir können es weiterempfehlen.

Perfrct stay after a long drive. We were welcomed with a smile and offered the choice of available rooms. Would recommend the offsite apartment!

We just stopped for a bite to eat. the soup was delicious and the fish and chips were excellent.

Popped in here for a couple of drinks, it was a lovely little bar with a great outdoor covered and heated seating area. The staff were kept very busy during our visit but Sean was a great character and took time to speak to everyone and helped us out immensely.

We went there twice for delicious and affordable food. I actually enjoyed Haggis, Neeps and tatties that I ate it twice over 2 days. The is alcohol as well. Nice spacious place with both indoor and alfresco dining.

I stopped here for dinner, had fish and chips with a Thistly cross cloudy, what a wonderful dinner! The place had free wifi going on as well so that was nice as my data was not working :) Anyway, they started dinner at 6pm, I arrived about 15 minutes early, took a seat and a cider to wait til 6. At 6, a few tables had been taken, went to the bar to order dinner. This was my first fish and chips in Scotland and it didn't disappoint!

Absolutely shocking this place, staff don't have a clue what they are doing. Ordered chicken burger, I think the chef got a bit excited when putting the mayo on but saying that it just hid the taste of the world's worst burger. My girlfriend ordered sausage and chips and the sausage wasn't even cooked. Sausage was cheap rubbish that you find in a greasy spoon. Don't even entertain this place stay at home and have a pot noodle.

Rooms- pretty standard , clean and did the job. Food was ok but nothing special. Staff where terrible. Unfriendly and seemed unhappy to serve us. Apart from the older chap doing breakfasts, he was the only one who spoke to us. The rest didn’t even say hello, please or thank you or acknowledge our presence. We where made to feel very unwelcome , this place lacks the heart and character of a good landlord/owner/manager- to teach basic customer services to the staff.The continental breakfast was disappointing, no cooked breakfast- poor. I would only return here for it’s convenient location.

it was not a nice place to stay as the man that was in charge was not nice as i was on a bus tour he said was the bus tour people was at fault breakfast was not nice for people on bus tour that for sure

no fue uno de los sitios donde mejor comimos de todo el viaje por Escocia, fish and chips yo bastante olioso y de reboce gordo, por lo menos no fue nada caro, está en un pueblecito muy majo que vale la pena visitar.

Acceuil très agréable, certes ,il faut se présenter au bar ,mais il en est de même dans tous les autres établissements de ce genre ,j' ai beaucoup aimé le mélange de style dans la chambre . Tres Bonne cuisine ,(recommande la souris d agneau excellente !!!),petit déjeuner varié avec gauffres maison! Je recommande sans hésiter!

Es el mejor sitio para comer o cenar en Fort Augustus. Las hamburguesas sin deliciosas. Debes pedir en la barra y pagar previamente. La tarta de chocolate nos ha encantado

Spendid food. In and outdoor service. Order at the bar. Outdoor has a tent so perfect for the unpredictable Scottish weather. Family and dogfriendly. Must visit. Surroundings are wonderfull with the waterworks on the channel for the boats.

We stopped at Richmond House Hotel when passing through Fort Augustus. The staff were very welcoming. Lunch came promptly, and we enjoyed it in the spacious garden at the back of the pub. A good range of food and drink options, all reasonably priced.

The restaurant is great and the fish & chips is yummy.

Our favourite of the limited choice of pubs in Fort Augustus, we visited twice during a week long visit. The management team were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was very good.

Flat was nice, but the beds was worn out

Although the restaurant was not very crowded the service at the bar was unfriendly and seemed to be annoyed of everything.

Le cadre est très agréable ainsi que la nourriture( Burger très bon, nuggets de poulet maison ou proche) quant a l’amabilité du personnel, globalement aussi frais que la bière, à éviter en famille.

I had the mussels mariners and they were lovely,my partner had cull and slink and he said it was one of the best he had.

We visited on a very hot day and this was the quietest of the places around the canal. I had scampi and chips my husband fish. It was served very quickly too quick for it to be fresh. It was plain pub grub the side salad was a nice addition but it’s not a gastro pub if you’ll looking for plain pub food this is for you if you want something special eat elsewhere

Cozy little pub, we popped in on a rainy afternoon and was happy to score a table. Good food, you typical pub fare. Friendlyservice, free wifi. Order and pay at the bar. Sausage and mashed potatoes and gravy was tasty, lamb shank was outstanding.

We stopped of in Fort Augustus next to Lock Ness for lunch and found the Richmond House Hotel and they were very welcoming. The food was very good and the portions were ok except for the Sausage and Mash which was a bit of a small portion something you would expect to give to a child but very tasty food, beer was excellent and the service buy the staff was second to non they even gave my Jack Russell Tinker a nice lamb bone which she loved ...So they still get the five stars well deserved I think. Over all a very nice experience in the Richmond House Hotel in Fort Augustus...... I hole heartily recommend them for lunch to anyone and the best friend 🐶👍🏻.
