Very hard working young fella at the counter. We were there for nearly an hour and he never stopped. Fair play young man. Although the soup had finished when we arrived, my alternative choice was very tasty and the others in the group also enjoyed their food.

Arrived just before 12pm, noted a breakfast menu on counter and many specials suited to more lunch and dinner. We were under the impression this was all that was available. The lady behind till left us standing when dealing with only two other customers having coffee and cake. She did not at any point say I will be with you in a minute or stated what menus were available. My husband had time to get cash next door and when we got back she still had not served me. I have no issue waiting I appreciate at times people are busy but she was un-friendly and acted like we were an inconvenience for several more minutes after this. After we ordered breakfast rolls I then heard others ordering toasties etc which I would have preferred. Food was made fresh and was nice and coffee was also nice. We heard a member of staff state she was having a day off and was much friendlier when greeting someone in the cafe who had just arrived. Another customer was left waiting so long she left and went and got a coffee from the shop next door and sat outside. I am Scottish myself and visit area frequently as I have a property in Oban and understand tourism is a hard trade but also one which is relied on so please be kinder to the people ensuring your good business remains.

Popped in at 3:25pm on a Saturday afternoon after checking the Opening Times & seeing it was Open until 4pm. To our surprise, on entering, the server immediately informed us that NO Hot Food or Sandwiches were available as she had "just cleaned the kitchen". We were made to feel extremely unwelcome by this girl, who I note has been mentioned in other Reviews, she was reluctant to even tell us where else in the area would be serving Food. We'll definitely NOT be returning here ... we'll be more than happy to spend our money elsewhere.

We'd been to Cafe Sunart before, in Strontian and it is fine for a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake. Good cake and they recommended one which was very sweet and nice for a perk up. Tea is pretty good and is served in a proper tea pot with extra water and milk if wanted. Myself and my husband had the haddock and chips one day there but my husband said it was disappointing. I had a good portion of haddock and it was plenty. It certainly saved cooking that day. Overall, the cafe is reasonable and has accessible toilets, which are accessible from the back. They are pretty basic although.

The young lady serving wasn't at all pleased to see us and stated that she wasn't doing any hot food ( which was fine by us as we only wanted tea and a scone) which we ordered. The tea and scones were delicious...shame the customer service wasn't. Reading previous reviews I see her customer service skills have been noted. The two of us stumbled across this cafe when we stopped for a toilet visit so thought we'd pop in for a coffee. We both had a very nice latte, a welcome warm drink on a cool October morning. I also decided to treat myself to a bacon roll, which again was very nice. My wife's choice of key lime pie, however, was a mistake. The texture of the filling was like foam - key lime pie should be a smooth custard style base with cream on top, not a garish green layer of foam topped with a white layer of foam. Altogether disappointing and not at all enjoyable. They need to re-think this or take it off the menu. My wife will stick to millionaire's shortbread in future - always a safer option.

Driving between Corran Ferry and Kichoan mainly along beautiful Loch Sunart, we arrived at Strontian (for whom the element Strontium is named) with strong appetites. The mines that made this place famous are long gone, but its glory lives on in Cafe Sunart's delicious food. A pot of tea and a delicious egg and bacon roll did the job admirably once a mob of middle-aged French classic car enthusiasts cleared the place.

This wee cafe near the little hamlet's shop and tourist information center (as well as a local pottery shop) is a wonderful addition to the headland: cheerful friendly staff, simple food (fish and chips, macaroni and cheese, toasties, smoked haddock pate with oatcakes) and marvelous home-baking (the coffee-walnut cake and date slice the best ever). We've eaten there several times over our 3 day visit, and found it a welcome refuge in a long spring snow-storm. But it is simple and small and beloved of locals as well as travelers: of course they couldn't accommodate a coach full of tourists without advance warning (as a previous review complained). Today however--with an advance booking--they are planning to accommodate a group of 250 bikers passing through. Very child-friendly.

We could have been overcome with the hot weather at the end of September but sitting on the veranda having a lovely late breakfast was a great start to our holiday. People nearby were having the fish which looked beautiful. The guy behind the counter and serving was doing a great job considering lots of people were taking advantage of the sunshine to eat out. A point to note is that when we left our veranda table a trio were immediately shown to it with a well behaved dog - that is a plus point / good on you - it's not as if the dog is in the kitchen cooking : ) He would surely have been a hot dog then : )))) Seriously we will call in here again when passing.

I really don't tend to write reviews but having visited this cafe at the weekend and many times during previous visits to Strontian, I feel that this cafe needed some praise for the brilliant experience I have had there. The food is tremendous and good value for money considering you are well off the beaten track at this point. It tastes properly home cooked, not something they have just heated in the microwave, and all the baked goodies in the front cabinet make the choice too hard!!! I personally don't remember seeing any ciabattas on the menu, as the previous reviewer said they had eaten, but I have eaten a bacon and brie PANINI from here in the past and it was delicious. On this visit I ate macaroni and cheese and a caramel shortcake and they were by far the best I have had, ever. The staff are all incredibly friendly and I will happily visit here again and again. Been here many times.....I really want to keep this cafe for myself, because it is a wee place and may get busy when I tell you how amazing this cafe is. But I am not selfish, so need to tell you about Sunart Cafe so that they will prosper and be rewarded for their efforts. Sunart is in Strontian, Scotland next to a tourist information centre and small provisions shop. The Cafe is on an out of way road (A861) in Strontian. The Sunart is an ideal meal stop for tourists, climbers/walkers and anyone visiting this remote area of Scotland. The road does go into a single track near Strontian and you will have to slow right down as you get into the villiage, so be very careful, especially when it is summer time..The range of food at the Sunart cafe is wide, from filled jacket potatoes, sandwiches, to full meals, with cakes or sweets for afters. You can also order meals to take out as well. There are outside and inside eating areas, and toilets. The service is excellent. The food is good old fashioned food, well cooked and presented, a delight to eat and plenty of it. The place is clean and tidy and the pots and cutlery shine with pride. This place is such a gem in a remote part of Scotland. But remember it is a small place about six tables inside, but with outside space if needed. But It is a brilliant place to rest and feed. Rolling off the Corran Ferry, with a rumbling tum I knew we had to act fast.......half hour drive brought us round to the tranquil Strontian Village where our option was shopping in the local or dining in the sublime. We opted for the latter.A rustic//log cabin feel of a cafe bursting with freshly made food cooked and baked directly on the premises. I had a venison stew with rice and a side plate of chips.......Mmm, so tender was the meat it literally flaked off my fork as it entered my mouth, the basmati rice was steamed to perfection and the chips...........freshly hand cut with a golden coat, none of your orange crispy-oiled frozen chips that most eateries favor.............the sweets OMG, too many mouthwatering treats to list I opted for a humongous fluffy fruit scone with jam and cream (no not squirty cream but REAL clotted cream) and my other half succumbed to the dark/rich/moist tempting slab of gingerbread.Over all the portions were plentiful, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable which was fab as we intended to explore the area and the cafe was warm and inviting.

Friendly welcome from staff. It’s not a store I would think to come to but I’m glad I popped in and found the Old Dairy coffee shop! Easy and free car parking is always a bonus! Good menu ,soups, All
