Rhode Island Coffee Blackburn in Hyndburn

We came in during April with our young niece for some cold drinks (purchased from here of course) and whilst we had our drinks my niece was eating her lunch (not purchased from here as they offer no food options for young children). Just as we were getting ready to leave the store manager comes out and asks us to leave as the outdoor seating area was “for our paying customers only during these hard times” which I understand of course but we were paying customers.. it makes it worse that the manager was not even discreet or sensitive about asking us to leave and when I explained we weren’t just sitting there and we in fact were paying customers he said “well you have had everything you needed so please leave” which quite frankly is shockingly rude. He was not quiet or discreet and we had to quickly move our things and leave as the rest of the people who were sat in this area (some had purchased nothing at all) watched us leave.

Order was correct, coffee was very tasty. Staff have nice personas and charisma and you are made to feel very welcome.

went in for a coffee and cake, Well where do I start, being disabled and having to go most places on my scooter I dont expect dirty looks off any member of staff in any place of business, but that is what I was greeted with in this place, Fine, I can put up with that I'm very thick skinned, What I really dislike is weak fluid posing as COFFEE, and just to compound the issue, I'm sure they picked one of the cakes they have had the longest, dry brings another meaning to it, and when I pointed this out to a member of staff I was told that they have the best cakes in blackburn, and when I told him he was mistaken that the shop next door had much better and fresher products, not to mention that their coffee is way superior for half the price, he rather rudely said ' well why dont you use them instead of coming in here complaining.Rather silly of me, but I thought I have a change and try somewhere different even though I object to paying silly prices just for the name of a place, but rest assured it will be the last time, I will be going next door to GREGGS where the staff bend over backwards to be helpful to the point of opening the door for disabled people, being polite at all times, and knowing that the customer is their bread and butter.9.5 out of 10 for GREGGS, 0.5 for the one's next door.

Popped in here again for a quick toastie and flat white ,good coffee and and sandwich. Quick efficient service and friendly staff,highly recommended

Really lovely staff, excellent coffee and great quality food for such reasonable prices. Would recommend this place any day over the more commercial coffee chains in town.

There are much better cafes in town. Had a coffee and a cake. Was overpriced. Much better experience seeing my coffee being roasted across town at a different cafe.

We have passed by this coffee shop and not tried it as we assumed it was part of a chain. It is actually an independent shop with only one other branch in Burnley.The coffee was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Will visit again!

I visit this coffee shop on a regular basis and that is because the staff are excellent with the personal stuff that means a lot but unfortunately is becoming rare. The two Michael’s that work there are just so helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Well done Rhode Island Blackburn

I love this coffee shop! The decor inside is beautiful and very cosy, if your looking for somewhere to grab a light snack and a drink in pure comfort and quiet environment, this is the place for you.

I come to this coffee shop daily, and the quality of service from the staff has never dropped. I would recommend this place to all coffee lovers. Seriously the best coffee around.

Called in for a coffee earlier today and was greeted by the manager Michael. His attitude was lovely and my latte was lovely that he made. He is a real credit to the team and is always interested to hear about my day. Thankyou Rhode Island I wouldn't spend my money anywhere else. All the other staff are always helpful.

Best coffee in Blackburn, staff here are all amazing , really friendly always up for a chat, we come here daily and wouldn’t go anywhere else

Had a brew there and hubby had a cake. Place was dirty. Dirt on the floor. Food/drink area was utterly filthy. I saw one waiter cleaning a table with , wait for it, his hand! His hand! No cloth or liquid in site.

The staff are always very Friendly and happy to help. Never had a bad experience in Rhode Island Blackburn

Recommend the coffee shop 100%, brilliant customer service by all staff, kayle-leigh ( I think her badge said) and pat where amazing and helped so much with my little one whilst I was trying to enjoy my coffee, they made me feel so welcoming even with a little one that has terrible 2.

Staff are super friendly. Literally all off them. Service and quality off coffee is outstanding, much more friendly environment than your Costa or Starbucks.

ideal place to come get university work done, just get some alone time with great coffee or even catch up with friends. Very friendly and helpful staff, always up on their feet to serve each customers needs. Constantly asking if there's anything else that's needed by their customers. Feel very comfortable and welcome in the coffee shop, can make myself at home. Defo my Go To place to be. feel especially comfortable when you become comfortable with the staff and they know just what specificities you need for your food and drinks ( big up Abbzz and the Mikes)

Visited whilst on a rare shopping trip to Blackburn. Really nice pleasant and attentive staff and excellent mild coffee. My wife had a toasted teacake that she said tested like home made. If I had one very minor critical comment I would have preferred the coffee a little hotter but all in all a 9 out of 10 on this visit.

Popped in for a coffee and scone mid morning, not to busy and served promptly. Coffee was nicely presented and the scone was lovely. There was plenty of space to sit, but some of the tables had not been cleared for some time, which was a little off putting.

I was a regular visitor to Rhode Island Coffee until about 8 months ago when, after having several bad experiences, I decided to take my custom else where. I even wrote a review on here, telling if my experiences and expressing my concerns.

A standard coffee shop but for a sandwich and soya latte it was almost £7.50!!! In Manchester at a main railway station it is a pound cheaper for the same thing. Seems asking for soya latte pushed the price up.

We've been going to Rhode Island Coffee Blackburn ever since it opened.

Lovely cafe and the staff are all very friendly. I come here every time I'm in town with my 3yr old.

I regularly called into a Rhode Island when in Blackburn and I had always been pleased with the food and service but recently it seems to have really gone down hill. There has been a big change in the staff members and recently I have to wait quite a while for a toasted tea cake, then on another visit, a waffle. The staff seem to be too busy chatting, instead of keeping their eye on things, which resulted in the food getting burnt so they had to do more. Giving them another chance, I returned this week with my daughter and my Panini was put into the press and forgotten about until I asked where it was !!! It came out rock hard but I ate it, as I had already waited ages.

Arrived in Blackburn on Saturday afternoon & wasn't sure we're to go for coffee & we came across Rhode Island Coffee, very good coffee & great choice of cakes (raspberry & coconut slice, yummy). Friendly staff.

I went to Blackburn for me to look at some gym outfits, then afterwards i thought that i would go to Rhode island cafe for a break. I entered the coffee shop and i went to choose my coffee and the staff behind the till were so friendly and patient when i was trying to decide so they don't rush you at all. Then when i had finally decided, i had chosen the strawberry syrup latte. The latte was absolutely mouthwatering to the standard that would give you all the happiness that you would like, and would keep you smiling for the rest of the day. The design was very posh to the best of its ability so a lot of effort must of been put into it. It is also quite romantic so i would definitely recommend it to couples. The atmosphere was outstanding, very calm and relaxing so if you would like to find somewhere to destress, then that is definitely the place to go.

I am a regular here as I work in the town centre and need my coffee when on an early start! I've no complaints the staff are always welcoming. I've tried a range of drinks and each time they have hit the spot. Haven't tried the food though. My son has had a cake and enjoyed it, The books in the corner are a really good idea and something different. The place doesn't feel like a 'chain' if that makes sense, which is a huge positive for me I prefer a more personal touch

I always go here when I'm in Blackburn town centre. The cafe itself is clean, warm and welcoming. The staff are lovely and are always friendly and helpful. I often visit with my baby and they always ask if I'd like my coffee bringing over as they can see I have my hands full! The coffee is the best in town all served with a smile too.

I've been coming here since RI first opened in Blackburn and it's been my favourite coffee shop ever since. I go with friends and family a few times a week and the staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone has a pleasant time there. They're extremely welcoming, never fail to say goodbye to you when you leave (even if they've got to somewhat shout it across the room!) and if they ever get anything wrong on your order, they admit it outright and fix it for you immediately. With regards to the food and drinks, it's absolutely delicious, with my personal favourites being the cherry or mint hot chocolate, the vanilla or coconut latte and the waffles or granola bars. All are SO delicious. Kudos to them for knocking it out the park and embarrassing Costa a little bit!

Called in for lunch with my daughter. Had to leave as no vegetarian options on the sandwich menu. Not the first time.

So friendly with beautiful cakes and fabulous tasting coffee. I feel welcomed to this cafe, not rushed, friendly and polite and make banter. They always say by to you from the counter and are helpful.

A new coffee house in The Mall, Blackburn, and my friend and I enjoyed our first visit. We had cappuccino and latte in this pleasant little self-service cafe which I can really recommend for comfort and style. The staff were very happy and welcoming.

Such friendly staff who can't do enough for you, offering extra syrup in hot drinks free of charge for example with no hassle, always clearing tables whenever they can keeping the place in check. There is also extra milk and water etc available to help yourself to which is also always being topped up. The hot drinks are lovely and there's plenty for the price with delicious snacks and treats to have, tasting so much nicer than Costa - there's clearly so much more effort put in here than in Costa which is poor in comparison. The toast and tea cakes etc are really tasty compared to Costa which tastes like cardboard and always runs out! The place itself has a lovely atmosphere with beautiful decoration making the experience even more enjoyable and relaxing. Love it!

Amazing bunch of girls... Can't beat a friendly welcome. Very helpful and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Their Caramel latte's and toasted currant teacakes are gorgeous! Very reasonably priced too.

I visited here with family after my partner was raving about the raspberry syrup latte.

Arrived just as they were closing for the evening and we were greeted as though it was the start of the day. Nothing was too much trouble. Fab cappuccino and mocha with white chocolate caramel shortbread. Special mention to Jess and Frankie. We'll be back!

This is a lovely coffee shop! Whenever I have been in, the staff have been really friendly and the service is great (whenever you walk in / leave you are greeted by everybody on the counter which is a really nice touch).

I visit here at least twice a week. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice to meet friends and have a catch up, or just relax after shopping. Nice seating area and great for people watching. Coffee is lovely and nice selection of food.

Visited Rhode Island a few days days ago around 11 am, 4 members of staff and 6 people in Café, had to wait for the milk shake I had ordered when it did not arrive went and asked where it was, they had forgot ? came after 6 mins my friends coffee was warm so asked for this to be warmed up or re made, it was but not a lot better, staff seemed happy to chat to one another about breaks etc I would not mind if busy but it was almost 1 staff member to 1 customer !! I have visited you in Burnley, Bolton often and never had a problem at all, but shall not visit Blackburn again not a great together with my friend at all over coffee,

The coffee shop is great for meeting friends and family or just having a coffee on your own. There is a book swap area, comfortable seating and plenty of room. The drinks are great and food is good! There are plenty of choices and a loyalty card scheme is in place for drinks. The staff are always really polite and friendly

Visit Rhode Island Coffee in Blackburn and receive a warm welcome from Lisa-Marie and her staff. The coffee and other drinks and food are excellent. The ambience is warm and welcoming and you will have to make a real effort to leave! We have visited once a month for some time and Lisa-Marie greets us like old friends.This is what life is all about - great people, great coffee and a great atmosphere.Well done Rhode Island Coffee.

Visited twice in a week. Coffee tastes really good and so do the cakes, especially the chocolate brownies. The atmosphere in the coffee shop is good too. Feels like and independent and not generic like the others. Will definitely come again.

I have visited twice this month for lunch with colleagues. The cafe has a very nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The panini's are very tasty and the choice of cakes and deserts is fab. Great choice of teas and coffees too. The service is efficient so you are never worried about over running your lunch break.

I stumbled across Rhode Island Coffee on a day out with my 5-year-old niece (in fact, she pointed it out and said "lets get something to eat in there!) a week or so after their opening and I haven't looked back since. It is now a part of my routine to visit there every Friday lunch time after I have finished work for the week. With a great selection of drinks and food at very competitive prices compared to the commercial coffee shops, a relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seats and some of the friendliest staff you will ever find; Rhode Island Coffee provides me with the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle that is a busy working life. It is my haven!

Visited here a couple of times in passing. It isn't overly busy and an excellent quiet alternative to busy Costa, probably just a minutes walk away. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the prices are comparable to Costa (maybe a little bit higher for some things). Comfortable seats and good atmosphere.

Rhode Island has quickly become our cafe of choice in Blackburn. They always have a good selection of sandwiches and cakes, which are tasty and fresh and the coffee is delicious. The staff are really good natured, friendly, polite and always smiley and never seem to miss saying 'goodbye' to whoever is leaving the cafe. We particularly like the jug of ice water that is available as my mum has tablets to take and it's not always easy in other cafes to get a glass of water! The decoration is cool and it's a lovely comfy place to sit for a brew and it's always spotlessly clean. I would also feel very comfortable to come and sit and have a coffee by myself, which I probably wouldn't do anywhere else. Please don't change...

Just popped in be honest never seen it but won't be a stranger great selection of things to eat we had a lovely mug of coffee a piece and toasted the cake done to just how asked lovely and clean and staff very friendly and polite so it made our day will be one to drop on again thank you

Visited Rhode Island in Blackburn for the first time today after trips to their Burnley and Bolton stores.

This is a recently opened café. The coffee and food were good and the staff helpful and friendly. OK, it's another chain - in some respects very like Caffe Nero - but it's a welcome one and deserves to succeed. Good luck to them!

First time in here & I'll definitely come back soon. Great atmosphere & great service. Better than going to Costa-lot lol
