As guests at the hotel, we wanted to try the on site restaurant. It's in the "wine cellar" of the hotel on the lower ground floor. There were little alcoves around the room. I wish they would make it more "wine cellar" decor as it did have a social club feeling about it. The food we were served was divine! I don't think I've ever eaten a well done steak that had been cooked so beautifully. It wasn't dry at all and there was very little fat. It was just perfect. We chose not to have desert as none of the options took our fancy. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant as well and again, the chef did not disappoint! The Full English was so flavourful and just perfect! Massive shootout to all the staff here! They were all amazing!

Unfortunately the Rex restaurant is only open at the moment to residents of the Hotel due to Covid, but as a resident I cannot say enough about the staff and food. They were brilliant, always pleasant and attentive, nothing to much trouble and the food was superb. Will definitely eat there again

We found the food a very good standard, the decor is very typical of an old sea side hotel but the food was worth the money.

My wife had a garlic and chilli king prawn starter which was spoiled by it being overpowered by the sauce and served on something that resembled fruit bread. The main courses were better. I had sea bass which was good but the veg was bland and unimaginative.

So spent a couple of days in Weymouth to celebrate parents wedding anniversary and it was their choice to eat here. The actual hotel looks lovely from the outside, but its a tad tired inside... The restaurant itself is downstairs and to be honest probably looks the same as it did 30 years ago.. Its very basic, functional but not really inviting... Its where the residents take their breakfast and for those few who have evening meals..However, the food was actually nice, basic but nice and the staff are fantastic... and my parents loved it, which is what mattered... I think this may be a generation thing, so trying not to be too harsh.

We went on a cold a rainy night and enjoyed a drink in the lovely warm bar overlooking the bay before going downstairs to the restaurant. We went for a birthday celebration and they had dressed the table for us it looked great.

The service was appalling, waited 35 minutes before getting any acknowledgment, only to be told, no lobster rolls or crab sandwiches! Overpriced and badly run! So we left with no apology from anybody! Avoid!

Haven’t tried for a while since they closed but it used to be excellent. Seems to have gone downhill since reopening. Chips were brown and tasted like old oil, very greasy and not great. The cod, although the batter was cooked well, tasted awful. Again tasted like old cooking oil and the fish itself was very dry and had a lot of hard bits which was weird. Curry sauce was that strange lumpy, cheap stuff and not good at all. Also found a small piece of bone. Husband had battered sausage, again horrible batter - it was very soggy and the sausage was soft. won’t be coming back.

Huge portions, fresh ingredients and a huge veggie/vegan menu which is so hard to come by! Had the veggie battered sausage and it was 10/10
