My husband and I visited the restaurant today hoping to have lunch with a view to making a future reservation for 16 people for a Birthday celebration. My husband and I stood in the reception area of the restaurant for 7 minutes waiting to be seated. It was clear that the staff knew that we were waiting as we were the only people awaiting a table but nobody even acknowledged our presence. Not surprisingly, given this level of poor service, the place was almost empty at lunchtime on a Bank Holiday. We walked out in disgust and made the reservation elsewhere which provided the kind of service that we are accustomed to. Shame on The Holiday Inn. This is the second shoddy experience I've had with the Holiday Inn and I've only been to two of them!!

Visited the Holiday Inn on the Marina in Hull to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. There was 17 people. There was plenty of delicous food, all served in little wooden boxes. I liked that it was different. A good selection of sandwhiches which were cut into small squares. Mini cheese tarts.. cheese scones... sausage rolls...as much tea and coffee as we wanted...(the service was good..) 2 glass flutes per person, one with a delightful jelly and the other with a lemon mousse which was very light. Macaroons and of course scone with jam and clotted cream. Sat outside enjoying watching boats coming and going. A very pleasant afternoon. Every enjoyed themselves.

Stayed overnight recently and enjoyed dinner in the main restaurant, which had a pretty wide ranging menu with the usual options, plus some 'homemade' type food and a small menu for the kids. The staff were really good throughout, and this followed through to breakfast, where there was a multi-course buffet offer available. The restaurant has decent views over the marina and I definitely wouldn't hesitate in returning.

The breakfast area overlooks the Marina so has a great outlook. Food was very good, and plenty of variety. Only down side was the breakfast plates were cold, a pet hate of mine when having a full English hot breakfast. Staff were very good and attentive and would supply additional tea and coffee when needed. The cost of the breakfast was very good and would recommend you try it out if staying at the hotel, or indeed in the area.

A pretty underwhelming experience overall, the service was okay, however I found the restaurant environment a little cold and clinical. This visit was with a voucher (Starter and Main course) Starter - the smallest Bruschetta I have ever seen! Main - Pork served with vegetables and potatoes, very small portions! Didn't appreciate being charged £8:50 for a 250ml glass of wine! Well done I will not be returning, a very successful exercise in how to disenchant potential customers.

Visited on Saturday night and despite being one of only 3 tables at 7.30pm there appeared to be very little left from the menu. When we were seated we were greated with a list of items that were 'not available' which included almost everything although we were told that the chef could do us something else if we wished. After ordering from the now very limited menu we had a short wait for food. Starters were lovely. The waiter who served us through out the night was lovely. Very chatty and he definately made up for the mediocre evening.I had my main meal altered twice after ordering after being told that they didn't have what I had asked for which was a shame as what I ended up with really was nothing special and not worth the hefty price tag we ended up paying despite the fact I only ate half and brought this to the attention of the staff. Wine was £6 a glass which if the food had been up there would not have been an issue. Overall I felt really disappointed. We weren't staying at the holiday inn but chose to come over to the restaurant after hearing good reviews. Now feel like we wasted a chance to have a lovely meal together. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the views are incredible. However the food really let it down.

The food is very good, but service very poor. To wait for a starter of a bowl of olives for over 20 minutes, and main courses an hour is not good.A limited food range but well cooked is good but the wine list is mainly not available unless you want the basics. I ordered 3 different wines to be told over a 30 minute period they weren't available, so reverted to, "what is available?" and eventually was served. The manager was rude to us, and having turned up at 6.45pm ( it opened at 6.30pm) was told "you just scraped in " despite only 2 tables being occupied, and then left us standing at the entrance and didn't show us to a table.5 minutes later a waitress took us to a table.Food quality was good, but be warned if you want a quick meal then this is not for you.We were compensated with both our starter and 10% automatic food service charge being removed from the bill.

I decided that I would join TripAdvisor to share my fantastic experience at the Holiday Inn restaurant on Hull marina that we visited on Thursday 10th September 2015.My Wife and I chose the Holiday Inn to celebrate our wedding anniversary with our Grandparents and am so very glad that we did. The setting on the marina is lovely. There is a kind of veranda area that gives great views over the water which makes it a very relaxing experience. The dining area is clean and well set out.I decided to have the squid as a starter.that was absolutely delicious. My Wife and Grandad had the pulled pork as a starter which they loved. Our Grandmother loved her prawn cocktail but it was so large she could not eat it all. The rest of us ate everything. For the main course it was the sirloin steak for all four of us. Three of us asked for our steaks to be cooked medium to well done with the other medium rare. They were cooked exactly as ordered and came with chips, a flat mushroom and tomatoes. Simply the best steak I have ever had. The chef Jo Boothe did such a good job that we ate it all leaving our plates clean. She obviously is passionate about her food and it shows. We also had the pleasure of meeting her.Service was without fault. It was speedy pleasant and the service staff never left us wanting ever, even though the restaurant was quite busy. The opinion from everyone in our group was that it was the best food and service we had ever experienced. We will be back.Congratulations to Jo and the team for making our anniversary such a nice and memorable night.

Went on Tuesday night having taken advantage of a groupon deal. We had a choice of where to sit as we were the first diners although a few more soon followed. We sat at the window side directly overlooking the marina and I must say how tranquil and pleasant the surroundings are.It was a 'Table d'hote' menu on the deal with about four choices of starter and main course.I chose the soup which was fresh tomato with a bread roll, OH had the chicken liver pate both dishes were of a large size and excellent quality. For main course I had pork with black pudding and apple and OH had cod loin. Again both dishes were excellent. A bottle of house wine was also included in the deal.We were served by a very pleasant young lady and the whole experience was first class and excellent value on the deal.

Booked here as had a gourmet card with 25% off food and drinks! But would not have booked without the discount.Lovely view of the marina, waiting staff very pleasant.Starters £5.50 each, nothing special. Soup watery.Main courses varied. Had breast of duck, quite tough very mean portion of veg and I thought potato was possibly warmed up. £16. Husband had very small rump steak with tiny bucket of skinny chips £17. Very disappointed with the sweet, Eton mess £4.50 started well, looked good but was all whipped cream, very little fruit and only 3 tiny balls of meringues on the top! Was expecting more in the cream. My Pepsi cost more than husbands Budweiser. 10% service charge was added onto the total I know this is optional but it should be an option before its added not afterwards! Think this restaurant aims its prices at the business man on expenses not the first passing public.

We decided to book a table and eat here having had glowing recommendations from friends who live in the city. They said it was 'a must' to eat there. When we arrived we ordered drinks and were told we were eating in the Myton Suite. This sounded very grand but sadly it turned out to be a cold and clinical white box of a room with absolutely no atmosphere and a fire door onto the car park! We were the only 2 diners in the place at 8pm on a Sunday night! Not the right ambience for a romantic dinner and where was the 'marina'? The staff did not offer us an alternative, and we later found out it would have been fine to eat in the lounge/bar looking out over the boats on the lovely evening. The food was just average. The waiter offered us a free drink when we voiced our disappointment, but it was too little, too late. The evening was ruined for us. A member of the reservation team has been in touch but we are still waiting for someone from the restaurant to get back to us.

Went here on a Groupon Deal, expected more.1) When we reserved out table a few days earlier their was a request section, we'd asked if (because we where driving) we could swap the included bottle of wine for a soft drink each. When we arrived, we where the only customers, but the staff member told us, nobody would have looked at the request box & no way could we swap this!! We did'nt mind buying the soft drinks, but why have the request box if it was going to be ignored. 2) The meal choice starters & main course was very limited, we where told by the staff it was put together especially for groupon customers only! Others who came into the restaurant who where not on a groupon deal had a much wider & better choice. 3) Portion's where small & No vegetables included.Food itself was ok,both presentation & taste, though nothing special or exciting. 4) Staff where pleasant & polite, though not particularly helpful, Restaurant setting Decor etc was all a little Bland, Great Potential at the side of the water, but unfulfilled. We often stay at Holiday Inn's (Particularly Tadcaster Road York, & are members of the IHG Club), but whilst not awful, this was not a positive memorable experience, we expected better, even if we where on a Groupon Deal, the Deal gave us to believe we where being offered the Normal Guest Choice of Meals but at a discount, not the reduced, cheaper Menu Just for Groupon Guests. Won't be back here!!

We decided touse the restaurant here on our first night at Marina. We had seen they had won awards so thought it would be reasonable good.My husband ordered the Sausage and Mash - the mash was tasteless and the sausages so peppery they were inedible. I ordered the rump steak, bearnaise sauce, skinny fries and a portion of onion rings. The onion rings were totally raw in the middle, the steak which I ordered medium rare (instead of my usual blue) was cold and like boot leather. The Bearnaise sauce tasted of vinegar and was not what I have come to expect of a Bearnaise sauce. Admittedly, when we complained they did not charge us for the meal. However, the next morning the breakfast included in our room rate was also cold and really not very appetising. The following morning, rather than serve from the hot plate the breakfast was cooked to order so at least they listened to something! I have to say the staff were exceptional and politeness itself but the food......thanks but no thanks!

The serving staff in this restaurant are outstanding! Really friendly and very helpful. They are the strength of the place as the food is borderline mediocre. I had the Yorkshire grill which was drowning in the butter sauce. It was reasonably tasty but I'm not sure how fresh the meat was. Tasted as if it was frozen. It can be presumed that the restaurants in large 'chain' hotels are rather dull and unimaginative - but this is a different experience. Haven't been here since the 'lobster and strawberry' summer 6 week special many years ago before Holiday Inn took over!I must say our Holiday inn meal this Sunday evening was first class. Hayley our waitress was a true credit to both herself and the establishment. She made sure we enjoyed our dining experience in every way. I asked her for the chefs names as credit is due and it was Sam and William at the helm. The food....the prawn asparagus spinach starter was delicious and the accompanying garlic bread was crazy good omg! The steak was perfectly medium/rare cooked with oodles of real cream peppercorn and onion sauce. The Salmon was pure, simple and quality. The duck simply excelled. Sooooo tender and so tasty. The way it was served on the bed of select vegetables with drizzled sauce was true Ramsey style and complemented the duck perfectly! The restaurant is modern and fresh with big windows onto boats docked in the marina. Really nice surroundings. Overall a great dining experience.

We visited the restaurant at the Holiday Inn, Hull Marina, simply because I'd taken up a Groupon offer. Ordinarily this is not a place that would be on my radar for a meal out. The restaurant is light and airy overlooking the marina, with seating available outside too. The tables are all laid out in a contemporary style. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. On the offer we had a shortened version of the a la carte menu. I had mushroom and goats cheese starter with red onion relish which was delicious. My husband had chicken terrine, again very good. The main courses were beautifully presented; I had chicken with parma ham with saute potatoes, my husband had pork with cajun seasoning. Both were excellent. My only disappointment was the dessert which was described as a lemon sherbert baked alaska on a pecan and biscuit base with caramelised meringue. It was just a slice of frozen lemon meringue pie, not quite the gastronomic delight I'd built up in my mind. The offer was excellent value and included a bottle of wine between two people. On the whole it was a very good meal in a convivial setting and close enough to the shops for a post-shopping experience (which is what we did). I would certainly use the restaurant if I were a guest in the hotel, or perhaps for a business meeting, just not sure I liked it enough to go again just for dinner.

Don't race here if there's another place you can eat, but as a last resort, or if you're staying in the hotel, it'll do. The food , the view, the staff all are just wow . Just imagine having food and sipping a nice wine overlooking a Marina Bay.

Wonderful choices with perfectly cooked food. We had dinner and also breakfast the following morning and both were really delicious.

Food choices were adequate and service was excellent. It was a business trip so I wasn't looking for "atmosphere" as I had a lot of work to do into each evening there. Just what was needed at the time I needed it.

I went with quite a large group (12 people) at lunchtime and although we had prebooked, the bar was closed and we had a struggle to find anyone to serve us drinks before lunch. The whole restaurant had a somewhat deserted feeling about it.

After traipsing around Hull for a dog friendly pub I found this gem. It was quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime but my two well behaved dogs were more than welcomed. The barman got them some water and a dog biscuit each. I enjoyed a long cold Erdinger too. Would have stayed for more if I hadn’t wasted my time looking for such a pub. Nice place, good range of beers, friendly atmosphere and the staff more than helpful.

A friend suggested this little cafe. Didn't really know what to expect but loved everything I got. Service was great with the people behind the counter being very friendly.
