Not been to Sat Bains for years as I have been traveling with work but wow what an experience. By far the best menu I have had in years. Service was impeccable and I will be back. Highly recommend it

We ate our 3 course dinner in the kitchen and had an enjoyable evening. The service was excellent and the pastry chef who looked after us was very friendly and attentive. She also baked the most delicious treacle bread. Sat Bains himself served us our main course and explained all of the components.The food was very good but tbh the portions could have been larger when paying such a lot of money. I had to fill up on bread. While the truffle sauce on our beef was delicious, I wanted more (beef and sauce), and to have been left our own pot of sauce would have been good rather than have it whisked away once Sat had spooned it over the beef. The treacle bread which I used to mop up the remaining truffle sauce was as good as anything. It was a great experience but one which I probably won't repeat. As Sara Davies from Dragons' Den once said to a pitching entrepreneur, there's only so much she would pay for any bra and the price being asked exceded her ceiling, even though she could afford the asking price. Like Sara, we felt that the price of the food, notwithstanding the expert and brilliant way in which it was prepared and presented, exceded the ceiling that we personally would place on any plate of food. The location of the restaurant is inexplicably disappointing. Why would you pick a site almost directly below a busy elevated dual carriageway and amongst a very busy spaghetti like road system to home your incredibly high end restaurant?

Absolutely first class from start to finish. The whole team made it their mission to ensure we were left wanting for nothing. Would give more than the five stars if I could! We did the Kitchen Bench experience as a birthday present for my partner, and it's absolutely my favourite culinary experience ever. I was so excited at the time of booking that I clearly only briefly read that we would be overlooking the chefs working in the pastry kitchen. I hadn't quite bargained for the fact we were going to be *inside* the kitchen itself! What a unique experience to be immersed in the heart of it all, and we were both amazed that the chefs were able to juggle their very intricate and precise work and still chat to us and answer our questions on how they make the elements of the dishes. Meg looked after us so well and I'm sure we will be watching her on Professional MasterChef one day. And shout out to Niamh as well who has an amazing career ahead of her at only 19!! The food was of course out of this world - my partner is not particularly a foodie, but he is now fully converted! Food really means something here, and it comes across in every single dish. Being served by the chefs who explain their creations with such passion is just amazing. I was very honoured to be the first customer to be served the new celeriac dish - try as I might to channel my inner food critic, it was absolutely faultless. I could have eaten the XO tapenade by the spoonful - Mr Bains, if you ever have any leftover at the end of the night, I'll bring a tupperware box and I'd be happy to take it off your hands! Andre , our sommelier, was an absolute highlight for us. He put so much heart into finding the right wine pairings for us and regularly checked in to make sure we were happy with the selections. Neither of us are particularly knowledgeable connoisseurs of wine, and we hadn't initially set out to have a wine pairing, but we are so glad we did. Andre listened to all of our preferences and found some fantastic wines which we will certainly be looking to buy to have at home. With all the above it was a genuine, bona fide fine-dining experience, but in no way did any part of it feel pretentious or over the top, and we felt part of the evening rather than just paying guests. Everyone was easy to talk to and expressed how proud they are in their work with their professionalism. We both said to each other when we left, how wonderful it must be to work in a team like that. Everyone in the midlands should have a meal here at least once if they can - it can certainly give a lot of the London venues a real run for their money!

Awesome evening for my 50th, shared with Sat being there celebrating his 25th anniversary. The food is just sublime and some of it really challenges the taste buds, but in an amazing way. Fantastic flavour combinations and mini meals you just wouldn't get anywhere else. I only wish they would provide you with a written description of what all the courses are. Not cheap, but it's Michelin starred and in the Midlands - a rare local treat!

Came here for our wedding anniversary. Staff amazing as usual. We actually came for lunch as opposed to dinner which was a nice change. We had the 7 courses and loved them all, me being a veggie I had a great selection. Extensive wine and cocktail menu. We finished the meal with a coffee and cigar in the cigar hut and had a look round the garden before being joined by Sat for a quick hello. We always enjoy it here, Sat Bains is the best restaurant in the world in our opinion.

Beautiful, elegant tasting dinner with wine flight. Truly a delectable experience with course after course a true gourmet experience especially sitting at the chefs table. Negatives for me would be the pizza experience in the greenhouse, didn’t really fit in and some courses felt a bit rushed but overall a wow factor with a big tick off my bucket list,

Went for a celebration meal and the whole experience was amazing. Had the Kitchen Bench right in the middle of the action as it were. I was a bit star struck when Sat actually came and said hello to us and chatted with us as I'd wanted to come here for years. To see the owner working as hard as the staff was great to see. Megan Neve and John made our night with their sense of humour and we would definitely return. I have been to other Michellin Star restaurants but this place removes the pomp and you feel extremely welcome like they're your friends. Thank you everyone, worth every penny.

I did not stay at the hotel but went for a meal instead for my son's 21st. We went for the 15 course taster and I had the wine float to accompany it. As expected the service was great and the food (and wine) was amazing with many different combinations that you think just can't work and then do. It is expensive but as they say you get what you pay for and the overall experience was great. Be wary though if one of more of your group cancel as you will get a hefty charge added to your bill...I am in the process of negotiating a refund so hopefully I can add or remove this comment

Here is a more concise version of the review that avoids potential legal issues under UK law: The food did not live up to the restaurant's Michelin rating. The dishes we were served were basic and uninspiring compared to the more appealing photos we had seen. The restaurant engaged in excessive upselling, proposing expensive additions to our meal such as a 15-course tasting menu and wine pairings. The 10 course menu was not communicated before our arrival, and it seemed lacklustre in comparison to the upselling options, of which I do not want to comment as to the potentail reasoning surrounding this. As non-wine drinkers, we felt we received less attentive service than other tables. One dish consisted of simply a small cube of salmon and a piece of seaweed, which was unsatisfactory and did not justify the cost. Overall, 7 out of the 10 courses we received were disappointing. I was also questioned and argued with when I made my concerns at the end of the meal voiced, but I did eventually get the 'optional' service charge removed. Based on our experience and similar feedback from others, we will not be returning to this restaurant.

The food here really is something special (which is pointing out the obvious). Each course was delicious and was really unique. We particularly enjoyed the trip out to the herb garden to have the little pizza (again delicious) and liked the particularly relaxed part of the meal. The real triumph were the desserts - I will remember the aerated white chocolate for a long time. Staff were all excellent and the service was efficient without being stuffy.

Firstly, I want to apologise to Sat Bains and the lovely people who looked after us when we visited as I've taken so long to submit this review. I went on 5th July for my 50th birthday and my husband and I were treated like nobility! We splashed out for the occasion and had the full 15 course menu with wine match and stayed the night in one of their rooms. When we first arrived, a passing chef stopped what he was doing to help us with our bags! We were greeted by a lovely chap on reception who made us feel like we were very special guests and we were shown to our room which was delightful and had everything we needed. We went and sat in the garden for a drink - as a gardener, I loved looking around, and even more husband was impressed although he hates gardening! Prior to dinner, we had one of their cocktails - OMG. How on earth do they do these?? We had different cocktails but tried each others - it quite literally was a taste sensation!! Forget your Pina coladas! One sip started with a taste of fruit, then smokiness, then heat, then something else...it was like Willy Wonka's chewing gum! I've never had anything like it. It was pure alchemy. The meal, all 15 courses were absolutely to die for. Each one was immaculate and tasted divine. Our waitress and 'personal wine expert' were wonderful. They were busy doing their job, but they also made time to chat and answer questions. They were also very genuine and sincere and we got the impression they enjoyed talking to us and certainly enjoyed their jobs. There was no pretentiousness from any of the staff, or Sat Bains, who were all very friendly, chatty and jolly! They really enhanced our stay. I really dislike seafood and so I was initially dubious about having 15 courses containing so many seafood dishes...HOWEVER, I loved them all! I had turbot, caviar, crab....!! All divine. And such unusual concepts and mixtures of ingredients. Genius. A really lovely touch was that Sat made sure he said happy birthday to me in person and we had a chat - he's a great guy. Again, very sincere and genuine. I felt quite honoured. So we went to bed stuffed! And had breakfast in the morning which was also wonderful. I had the chorizo eggs, on Sat Bain's recommendation, and my hubby had fry up, both with a twist. Everything was home produced and you could taste it. Amazing. On the way home, we looked at other restaurants that would have before tickled our fancy and thought, what's the point of going anywhere else after that because they all pale into insignificance!!! Big thanks to Sat and everyone else who looked after us. I've been to some top notch restaurants and some expensive ones but I would deffo recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food- it's on another level. My husband does the cooking in our house and is very good but I've told him he needs to up his game!

A great experience with an amazing tastes, only disappointing moment was that I turned in my seat to look in the kitchen, Sat was staring straight back at me, he then came out, gave a sarcastic smile to my husband and shut the shutter door so I couldn't look again! From the moment we arrived to when we left we felt indulged and welcomed. A huge thank you to all the staff. We checked into our room and were given some beautiful treats, to have with a cup of tea and coffee (which we made in our room). The gardens were beautiful, herbs, fruit and veg growing everywhere. all the space was utilised. We had initially booked the 7 course taster menu. But upon our arrival for pre dinner drinks, Innes, the manager offered us a choice of 7, 10 or 15 courses. He explained about all the options and even diminished my fears about the eels and sweetbread. He was right on both accounts. Absolutely delicious and not what I had expected. Natalia and Ed looked after us so well. Ed was our sommelier and Natalia was so wonderfully knowledgeable about our food they made our dining experience feel more unique. This was a celebration to mark 25 years together but 21 years of marriage. Well what can I say about the food. We could see Sat Bains in the kitchen. His creative mind and food was beyond expectations. His mushroom tartlet was heaven in a mouthful and it topped the tartlet I previously had in a two Michelin star restaurant. The in the garden course was an immersive experience. Edward our chef enthralling with his knowledge and skills. Just brilliant! Every dish was like a piece of art. Our 15 courses were served over 3 hours and my husband and I excitedly talked about every course. If we could give this 5+ stars we absolutely would. Thank you again for a wonderful experience. We hope to come back.

What an incredible place! The food and the staff were absolutely unreal, super attentive, explained everything about the dished and the details on the wine, where it came from and how it complimented the dishes. My partner and myself came here for the 7 course meal and we liked it all, the complexity of flavors for each dish just worked. The staff were very professional and were there if you needed anything. I would definitely recommend!! I wanted to add pictures but it wouldn't let me for some reason, go on their Instagram, it literally looks like that on a plate!!

We had the pleasure of dining at the Kitchen Table last night to celebrate our son’s graduation and all we can say is WOW! This place is amazing. All the staff are fantastic from the minute you walk through the door, you are treated by true professionals and you can see how passionate and proud they are to work at this amazing establishment. The food was mind blowingly good, my husband has had the opportunity to eat in a lot of Michelin star restaurants over the years and he rated this as ‘the best meal I have ever eaten’. Meghan and the pastry team were a joy to watch performing at the top of their game, and they all had fun. This is not a cheap meal, but as my husband says it is about cost versus value, our son loved every single morsel and will remember it for the rest of his life. Please go - you will not be disappointed - it is a fabulous evening!

This was a £645 treat from our son. A Summer Seven package including a 7 course Tasting menu, drinks, wine pairing for 1 (which we were able to share as we are not big drinkers), an overnight stay and breakfast for 2 the next morning. I can do no better than point out that the website descriptions of the food, wines, vegetable and herb gardens and service ethos proved utterly accurate. What I can add, however, is that the service provided by the Tweed besuited team was a masterclass in relaxed, professional perfection both in word a deed. Theatrical? Absolutely. Enjoyable? Utterly. Immersive? Without doubt. Unforgettable? Yes. Would we do it again? Yes, but we’d have to save up. Is there something that could have been done better? Possibly, but we did not spot it on our visit.

I’m leaving this review to say thank you more than anything. A truly magical experience to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. Sat and Amanda have put every bit themselves into everything about this special experience. There is no detail left unthought of and the care, attention and world class talent delivers an intimate, relaxed and awe inspiring stay. The food is utterly sublime and it builds from dish to dish into a crescendo. It’s not about the individual dishes but the meal as a whole which my impression is intended as a performance and was certainly perceived as one by my wife and I. Even got to try Sat’s whisky which is top notch and breakfast the next day was a brilliant end to a brilliant experience. The drinks pairing isn’t what you’d expect and excited us with new and interesting wines. I’ve eaten in many Michelin star restaurants over the years and it baffles me that a certain restaurant on park lane has 3 stars and Sat doesn’t. What a credit to the British hospitality industry.

This place never fails to delight us, just returned home after our third visit. This time we stayed over in one of their beautiful rooms. We were celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary, so we decided to reward ourselves for putting up with each other for so long! 😂 The 15 course menu and wine flight was perfect, so much thought ( and sampling ) must have gone into the pairings. If ever you need relief tasters could we please volunteer? The staff are most obliging, friendly and knowledgeable, so all in all it was the perfect experience. Thank you team Sat..👏👏

What an amazing experience! The location was a surprise also. Being from Nottingham I am aware that that area is mainly a cigarette factory and industrial estate, however the moment you turn off onto Lenton Lane it was like being transported into the countryside. The staff were waiting for us at the door with a smile and welcoming greeting. We were escorted into the bar, after allowing to choose between there or the garden. Once sat, they brought a stool for my handbag, the bar menu and the wine BIBLE! A sommelier came to speak us thru the wines, then a restaurant manager came to talk us through the menu. We then were shown to our table and waiter for the evening. We had a surprise off menu courses which we got to watch being cooked in the garden. The whole meal was spectacular. I dont want to spoil anything but let's just say there was some flare with some courses. Very happy with the whole experience. And as I was there for my birthday I was given a signed menu from Sat B himself! Once we were back in the bar with our lemoncello, I managed to speak to the man himself to thank him for making my birthday perfect. 11/10! Cannot wait to go back

I was excited to be Invited to what only can be described as the best culinary experience I'd ever had & tasted.. Nottingham based 2* Michelin Sat Bains Restaurant.. from the moment you pulled up on the gravel drive, greeted most hospitably at the door, served fine chianti wine 🍷 then led to your table, beautifully set & and well-dressed, attired waitresses & waiters. The food served, looking like pieces of art & the incredible passionate work making it. Fully described by our hosts, the ingredients, the inspiration & locally sourced products, some coming from their own garden too, made this 10 course menu more special. The difference in taste & texture, the taste buds fireing on all cylinders, the explosions of white ice cream that melted instantly as you snapped on the honeycomb wafer. The lamb that was pink yet braised with crispy potatoes & light garden leaves & garlic roasted with an AuJus that brought everything together. Bursting with flavour, texture & crunch. The work gone into tonight's treat was pure heaven. Thanks to all at Restaurant Sat Bains, a truly wonderful experience & one to be treasured for sure. Highly recommended folks. 😋👍🍷✨️

As a party of 4, we chose to have an overnight stay with the chef's table and a 12 (or was it 13) courses with wine paring. Having never even been to a Michelin-star, I think going to this incredible 2 Star has completely spoilt me for future restaurant visits. The food was incredible, with a well-orchestrated sommelier and chefs presenting their own food created at the stations in a very calm kitchen. Each person at the top of their game. It was like watching a dance, with each station carefully putting together the dish; watching it was hypnotic. The sommelier was a great guy, they really knew the wine and how it paired with the food. I have never believed in wine pairing with food. Still, when he brought out a Gruner Veltliner (Austria), which initially tasted like 4-star petrol, however after he humoured my blunt remark, he told me to eat my dish. Then he returned to the wine (which was a different taste) so im not converted 10/10. One of the dishes led us to a greenhouse where the young chef cooked garlic bread with a Cornish beer and the best (and oldest) parmesan i have ever had in front of us. this was a really nice touch explaining the ingredients and the sourcing of the food (provenance) I have never tasted food like it, it was perfection. The bedroom for the night was basic and quite small, but in my view, the aim is to not be in your room unless you are sleeping, so it played a little part in the night. The breakfast was incredible. My wife ( having had 13 wines the night before) didn't turn up to breakfast, and any man worth his salt ordered his own 3-course breakfast as well as his wife's. It was the best 6-course breakfast I have ever eaten. Only 2 points of feedback re : 1. Sat Bains comes and meets you at the chef's table; I think he is happier in a gym (he looks like he's a Gym lad). He is quite a serious guy, I think cracking a smile only happens when he PBs on a bench (I joke). It would have been good to have met the head chef. 2. Morning breakfast felt rushed—it almost felt like a checkout and off-you-go scenario (I didn't think we were that long, but I did have a food coma). Overall it was a brilliant experience, and i can see why Sat Bains has a 2 star; they really deserve it

It’s a beautiful place but I felt so uncomfortable with the waitress asking me so many times if I had chose what to eat yet while I was having my drink and thinking what to chose, he didn’t give us at least 4 minutes, when the food arrived he was making sure that he would ask me about 3 or 4 times if I was done while I was eating still. Food was ok but I wouldn’t go back.

Yes it is not situated in a very glamorous area but who cares, those thoughts diminish the moment you arrive at RSB. I am of course bias as I have been returning here for over 25yrs. Our last visit was with friends and family and sat at the privileged Chefs table watching the masters at work. extra treat the Boss was in !!!! First time trying the new 3 course menu offered on the kitchen and chefs table , it was a definite 🙌 wow another winner for us. The dishes are sublime works of art with a masterclass in taste sensations . Innes and the restaurant team are friendly professional and knowledgeable making the whole experience very special. The gorgeous cigar hut with fire pit in the gardens is a great little addition to hangout for a coffee and liqueur. This fabulous Restaurant with Rooms is a must for any foodie who appreciates fine food at its best topped with excellent service.

After not being here for some years, I had a certain expectation with a 2-star restaurant. Overall experience was underwhelming. Food was pretty average for a fine dining restaurant. Flavours were not memorable, and the use of gels was rather dated and added, neither texture nor flavour. Noise level was unacceptable. Certainly overpriced for moderate food. The use of fake candles just sums it up. When questioned, the waiter explained that real candles were causing the walls to be stained. That was the worst untruth I have heard in a long time. I'm not sure how they got their 2 stars, but I have dined in many not starred restaurants that severed better fare. Will not be back and certainly not worth the money for mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, the food was not bad. It was just average and ordinary. Disappointing.

Absolutely first class from start to finish. We have never had a tasting menu before where each and every course was so memorably delicious. Just as impressive were the wonderful staff. From the moment Jorge greeted us, to Tamas expertly explaining each dish and Innes expertly running the restaurant, everyone was extremely friendly, professional and a real credit to the restaurant. In our opinion, virtually evert aspect of our visit to Sat Bains Restaurant was pretty prefect. From our initial greeting with Jorge, every member of staff was friendly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Innes, the restaurant manager, was extremely professional and our waiter, Tamas, was great too. The food was simply amazing. We've never dined at a restaurant before where every dish of a tasting menu was so memorable, distinctive and, most importantly, unbelievably delicious. Safe to say we will be returning very soon.

The service, ambience and rooms are very very good. However, the food, whilst beautifully presented, did not hit all the high points for my palate. Some really excellent dishes, "from the embers" was outstanding along with the "wagyu peppercorns". But for me, the beautiful smoked eel was totally overpowered by the truffle sauce and both of us found the salmon wrapped in seaweed left an odd taste in the mouth. It was lovely to retire outside into the beautiful wooden hut after the meal and indulge in lovely chocolate and coffee. Breakfast the following morning was superb. You have to admire the work and techniques involved in presenting a unique foodie experience.

wow...WoW... WOW! Hubby & I came to celebrate his birthday. Booked the Winter triptych package (10 courses & B&B) was it worth it ABSOLUTELY! From start to end our experience at Sat Bains establishment excelled our expectations. I knew it would be great but it was an exceptional & unique experience. Yes it is pricey, but worth every penny, amazing food experiece, fabulous interior & great exploring the grounds. We returned to RSB (our third visit this year) to celebrate my birthday and Christmas - it was December 23rd., the last day for Sat and the team before the Christmas holidays. This time we opted for the 10 course tasting menu, and my wife had the wine pairing - which, she proclaimed, enhanced each dish perfectly. As usual we discovered different dishes this time, such as venison and the squab pigeon (see photo) which was absolutely delicious. I was particularly pleased to see my favourite scallop dish on the menu! The staff all go the extra mile to ensure that guests are made to feel welcome, and their friendly smiles go a long way to guaranteeing that. Innes, the maitre d is a great asset to RSB and is always on hand to answer queries etc. in a friendly manner. Will we be returning for a fourth visit? - you bet we will!.

The food served don’t deserve 2 Michelin stars, I was so excited to be dining here for lunch. After dining at many one star restaurants my imagination was going wild at what we’d be served. The hors d’ oeuvres were underwhelming, one was a jelly sweet smothered in sugar! The bread was cold and was not fresh at all. The fish course was served on some sort of crust, this tasted stale. The fish itself did not of the texture of fish and was tasteless. As the dishes were brought out the more disappointed we became. Not one dish had a flavour explosion or brought any happiness. Not one dish seemed complete and everyone lacked something. As for the candy floss dessert, i tried, it failed not worth the calories. We paid the £440 bill for 2 and left speechless and hungry. Giving this restaurant 2 Michelin stars is a license to print money. If you’d like a Michelin experience half the price try Adams, Upstairs or even Simpsons in the midlands.

What a fantastic way to spend a Wednesday evening, @chefs table with the man himself in situ. We couldn’t and didn’t want to find fault with the restaurant as everything from venue, decor, staff and food, were all top draw! Part way through our dinner we were invited outside into a very special greenhouse with lots of locally grown herbs and a demonstration on how to prepare one of the courses. Not only was this relatively unique, but it added to the theatre of our experience. I would highly recommend RSB and can’t wait to return!

First time at a Michelin star restaurant and was not dissatisfied in any way , we stayed over in one of the rooms and everything was amazing. The staff are amazing and will do anything to make your stay and meal special , their knowledge of all products is second to none .. with a friendly , helpful and genuine manner . We had the 10 course tasting menu which was so filling .. we enjoyed all of the course but in particular I loved the potato course , the small soup on the first course and the scallop. My partner loved the fish main course . The bread and butter is also divine !! We stayed for breakfast.. the homemade crumpets and honey .. wow !! Overall it was amazing .. well worth the money , we would love to go back and also try other Michelin star establishments

A little local we know that we've been going to for the last 25 years. When we arrived, the staff were all smiles and jovial. It was like they were expecting us. What for? A pizza 🍕 that's what for. After that , we were seated back in the kitchen to carry on with the rest of our lunch. Yesterday we had lunch at Restaurant Sat Bains to celebrate my wife's birthday - our second visit. The entire experience was wonderful, not so much a meal, but a gastronomic adventure or journey - exploring the five tastes which are the basis of Sat Bains' culinary ethos. Perhaps needless to say, all 8 courses were exquisite and interesting - true Michelin 2 star quality! Aside from the cuisine, the premises are tastefully and beautifully appointed, and the staff are all resplendent in their tweed livery - and incidentally they are all thoroughly professional and cheerful. Our waiter was Thomas, and the sommelier was Harry - both should commended for their enthusiasm and expertise. Innes, the restaurant manager, was friendly and welcoming - he is always attentive and clearly loves his job.. and that comes across very strongly. We have dined at other Michelin starred establishments such as Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons (several times) and Il Gallo d'Oro in Madeira, and we now have a new favourite with RSB... we will be returning, and soon!

Finally got to dine here yesterday, making use of a voucher I received as a birthday gift to enjoy the 10 course lunch menu. Of course the astonishing menu loaded with creativity and depth of flavour is the star of the show here as it is in any restaurant, however it would be unforgiveable for me not to shout out the incredible team that make it even more of a magical experience. Most of all I have to thank my warm, attentive waiter who made me feel at home and my impressively knowledgeable and clearly very passionate sommelier who could sell wine to a lifelong teetotaler. They provided top notch yet wholly unpretentious service and came equipped with good conversation and banter which made me forget that I was dining alone. I was given a lovely little present to leave with however to avoid spoiling people's experiences I won't ruin the surprise.

The Eel was worth the visit alone, hands down my favourite dish! Wine, whiskey and cigar selection were all great. Was recommended a fantastic bottle of red recommended by the barman who absolutely knew his stuff. The garden greenhouse was a surprising treat to break up the evening. Come with us to Restaurant Sat Bains🍾 What an incredible 24 hours at Restaurant Sat Bains. Every detail carefully thought out, all of which made for a wonderful stay. Food We had the 10-course tasting menu with a couple of extras. The food was out of this world. All grown on site in the restaurant gardens (which you are encouraged to explore in your own time), all curated with such care and detail that each course is not only a taste sensation but also fun along the way. Drink The wine list is extensive and there are cocktails, beers and spirits on offer as well. Each table is assigned its own Somellier and our guy, Harry really knew his stuff. He was also an absolute gentleman and made our evening even more lovely. Stay The Restaurant has 8 rooms ranging from standard doubles, superior rooms and suites. We stayed in room 3 which was a superior room. It was designed and decorated beautifully throughout with thoughtful extras such as a lint roller, shoe shine, hair straightners and an extra bottle of milk when we returned that evening. The bed was comfortable and the roll top bath made for a lovely relaxing soak before getting ready. Staff The staff are what make this place so special. Every single person, from check in to check out can't do enough for you. From the minute you park your car someone is heading over to help with your case whilst the other is heading to the kitchen to gather some sweet treats for your room. The team are fully on hand to make your meal and/or stay a special one but for us a special shout out must go to our waitress Natalia, our Somellier Harry and Angus who made us the most incredible mini pesto pizzas as part of our 'surprise course' in the greenhouse. Sat We have admired Sat's cooking for years now and visiting his 2 Michelin star restaurant was something that's been on our to-do list for a while. The best part of our whole stay was seeing him through the glass dart around in the kitchen in his chef whites, coming out to chat to guests and realising that the guy who's cooking you've loved for years is actually out there cooking your dinner. It's definately not cheap, but for a special occasion, it's worth every penny 👌

The garden is lovely and the wood burning stove house was fantastic, cosy and welcoming. We had the ten course taster menu with the classic wine flight. The food was excellent and varied, the staff friendly and attentive offering clear details about the food. The matching drinks were very well selected and the sommelier was particularly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The room was lovely and comfortable. All in all it was a great experience, despite the price and will provide us with some wonderful memories.

We are always a bit sceptical about modern locally-sourced British food as it can be dull, but this was anything but - wonderful seasoning and spices and layers of flavour in every plate. Absolutely fantastic fine dining experience which definitely lived up to the hype! I found the cuisine and wine flight more daring and challenging than other 2* restaurants and the service more ‘fun’ than is typically associated with such places. The whole experience oozed character and personality and I ate the best savoury and best sweet dish I’ve ever had (potato, caviar and ash and the chocolate dessert) One tip if you’re going soon, choose the sole over the grouse for the main; it’s sublime!

But once there I went all out and enjoyed every second of it. Five stars isn't really enough when reviewing Sat Bains' restaurant. Perhaps it should have seven, five for the review and two extra from the kind people at Michelin? We visited for our wedding anniversary - and took up the 10 course taster menu - which ended up closer to 13 courses with the addition of a special course, an bonus course/drink freshly made in-front of you in the greenhouse, and some absurdly good bread options. The food, drink and hosting was exceptional - to the point where considering this as merely a 'meal' does it a disservice. This is an experience and it should be savoured. This of course isn't an inexpensive evening, but it is absolutely worth the money if you're celebrating a special occasion.

Wonderful experience! We went for a special anniversary. Started with a champagne, then selected the 15 course menu and a red wine that we took many years ago when it was launched as a new. Every dish was excellent. Flavours, textures, temperatures... perfectly combined. There was a "break* during the dinner to visit the garden where they prepare and cook another dish in front of you. I won't make spoilers because we also were not aware what was going to be at that time. Service and attention to details were matching the quality of the food. When serving the dishes at a table with several people the waiters made the same movements at the same time they were fully coordinated and seemed like a swimming team ballet!. I was about to run out of spoons several times but they fortunately have a kind of cutlery organiser that refilled when needed. I left a picture. Another detail.. The butter accompanimg the bread.... how do they make it or where do they get from?, is just....wonderful !! Why only 2 stars? ;)

We (a party of 4) had the tasting menu for dinner and what an absolute delight it was. Every dish was spectacular. We did the wine pairing too, which whilst expensive, did make the whole experience perfect. We were given a lot of interesting information about the wines delivered in a fun and engaging way. Something extra special was the visit to the outdoor herb greenhouse where we were treated to a lovely sourdough pizza freshly made and cooked in front of us. This was a really enjoyable experience. The whole evening was fun with friendly and professional service and we were made to feel very welcome. Expect it to be quite expensive, but it was a definite treat! Just lovely!

Upselling could be done in much more settle way considering that prices are already quite high. To the one of the lovely waitresses.......if I have made all the way to the table holding to my thin coat with emergency phone in it being on call.... it probably means the six or more of your colleagues already asked me if I want to put it away, perhaps make it less obvious pulling your face when I said I'm ok. Food was very interesting apart from the greenhouse charade with the pizza. Grated Parmigiano burns to the charcoal under the high heat and all you can taste is a 🔥 bitterness......has anyone tasted it before putting this on the menu? It doesn't belong there together with the flat pack greenhouse.

Recomiendo encarecidamente los brunch de despensa, no hay razón para que las tortitas, frijoles en salsa de tomate y hongos al ajo vayan juntos, pero los magos en la cocina hacen que todo funcione!

Rock Hard bright green mushy peas, dry tired fish and ok chips. Mini fish, chips and peas for a tenner I expect mushy peas not concrete. There’s another chippy in walking distance I’ll try that next time.
