First time trying this restaurant. Being Colombian we are obviously very familiar with the food. Sadly the service was poor. The table we had to ask to be cleaned. Despite it being a busy place the food was not cooked well and appeared to be dry. The sausage was extremely salty and the mushrooms sauce tasted as if it was out of a packet.

I ordered the menu which was barley soup for starter and for main a mix of frijoles rice and pulled meat. My wife ordered a picada (mix of all meats). The soup was tasty, meaty, surprisingly sustancious, I thought it was going to be the classic watery soup but it wasn't, it came with all kind of vegs, potatoes and even a portion of beef! Then the picada was so large we had enough for the two of us and came with delicious sauces and fried banana. Really, we almost couldn't finish it. We had to take the main from the menu back home to eat the following day. And yes it was satisfying and delicious. Definitely will go back with all the family. I hope this is the usual way and it doesn't change once the lock down is over!

I usually visit to get empanadas and calamari every week as a treat. I left my phone and a small bag of shopping by mistake. The staff kindly kept it for me. I had actually written it off because I could not remember where I left my stuff. Very kind and honest family business. The food is comforting and its worth indulging in happy hour. I saw the other reviews and have say.... the place has changed, but I have never been disappointed and the customer base are loads of south Americans. My heritage is Caribbean. The looks restaurant is pretty authentic and the portions are generous. I have taken family, & friends there and they all return under their own steam.

I was really excited to bring my girlfriend and step son to this place as I'd been many time in the past before lock down, but they haven't. I made them travel from Enfield to South London which was a mission as I knew the food and portions where always amazing an great value. Well I couldn't have been more wrong! The food was bland and the portions were half the size they used to be, and even more expensive than before. The waiter neve spoke a word of English which was fine as im fluent in Spanish and Latin myself. He never explained any of changes in the portiobs or anything. I asked if this place was under new management and he said no, he clearly lied as id never seen anyone in this place before in my life. I complained about the portions and price change but the clearly never gave a fxxk. The food and service was seriously sxxt and the will not have my business again. Avoid this place at all costs!

The empanadas were dripping in oil, hardly appetising. The rest was ok, I was not really impressed if I’m honest. Plus it’s a little difficult to order as the lady who served me did not speak English another lady came over, it was a little better but still hard work although they tried their best and came across as welcoming and warm.

Came to this restaurant as I was in Brixton Village and it looked interesting... Totally a hidden gem! Tried the columbian equivalent of a mixed grill... So glad I'd had a light lunch... It was massive! Fried plantain, beans, steak, sausage, belly pork, avocado, biscuit, rice and an egg... Phew. And it all tasted delicious and fresh. To wash it down I had an uva (grape) soda... So flavourful! Really recommended this place, certainly going to look for more Columbian food when I'm out and about 😊

I come to eat here fairly regularly and whilst admittedly as other reviewers have correctly pointed out the food here is quite tasty, fantastic sized portions & very reasonably priced set in a great family atmosphere full of Colombians & hungry locals! my issue sadly is that every time I eat here there's always an issue! I so want to give this place five out of five but it seems every time I order something they seem to miss out a item on my plate! Last time the advocardo salad had no advocardo! The meal before that no cornbread, the meal before that was missing the plantain? The staff do bring the missing items eventually but by the time they do you've eaten most of your meal! I know the staff are quite busy but they need to address this as its quite frustrating sometimes so be prepared! Other than that a great authentic place to dine.

We were in Brixton recently for a family visit and decided to spend some time at the market. It was between Christmas and New Year so a lot of eating places were closed. But we tried this Colombian place as it was somewhere I'd heard about, it was open and they had seats outside which was handy with having a dog. They kept a table for us and we were warmly welcomed. They switched the outside heaters on for us which was great as it was a freezing cold day. The waiter helped us choose on the menu making sure we didn't over order and helping us keep to more traditional Colombian dishes. The food was great and perfect for a cold day. Colombian food was new to me and surprisingly more Caribbean than South American. It really is heavy and hearty though so go hungry. The portions are enormous too. Prices are OK but they did do a £7 two course day menu as well as a la carte. The clientele is very mixed with Colombians, Brixton locals and tourists, a nice balance with the some of the more touristy trendy places. A great find.

I came here with my partner and was curious to try out Colombian food.First thing I noticed was that it was filled with people from Colombia-well this is a very good sign to begin with. Me and my partner were the very few non-Colombian customers here. The food served is in big portions and at a very reasonable price indeed! We ordered the Bandeija Paisa along with Club Colombia beer. The Bandeija Paisa was very filling, in fact so much so that I couldn't finish it off-despite coming to the restaurant pretty hungry! The food I found to be very delicious and the atmosphere was nice and friendly. After we had had our mains we were given a small chocolate cake which was very nice. Some people may not like the interior-as it's not as upmarket or refined as other restaurants, however, I found the interior to have its own character. To be honest, some of the best restaurants I have been to have not had refined/elegant/upmarket/sophisticated interiors. It is decently cheap, and if people can get past the 'the interior was not as upmarket/refined as to my liking, they might enjoy a meal there.I'll definitely go there again and highly recommend it to folks!

Service was great and so was the value. But the most important thing is that the food is outstanding!!The plantain soup wAs tasty and rich. The oxtail was melt in your mouth and soooooo delicious. It went well with the salad and plantain and rice. The passionfruit milkshake was so fresh and good too. I can only be sad that I discovered this place too late! Please don't hesitate to try this!

After exploring the area we wanted a two appetisers before going of to dinner what we received was two large plates of North South American YUMMMMM (I went racing after the waitress to confirm we had not gotten a main). The food bill was £5.20 (wine was £2.50 more per glass) for some abuela's treats! The flavours were spot on though I wish my empanada was pipping hot (though it was nice and warm).

Service - nothing special, very straight forward, nothing out of the ordinary, for a Colombian restaurant, not so much of a happy Colombian welcome or service, just average, normal. Atmosphere - cold, very cold indeed, couldn't take my winter coat, this is also confirmed by other customers who were still wearing theirs after having dined.Music, was very popular, very Colombian. It makes you feel in a secluded far away restaurant in a Hamlet sort of place. Nothing wrong with that, actually it adds a sort of character to the place, it makes it part of the experience. CLEANLINESS - A lot more attention to detail definitely. Tables edge noticeably filthy, it's so simple to resolve if tables are actually cleaned properly. There was dried spillages and just dirt on the edge of the tables. Not pleasant.Floors and walls relatively clean but could certainly do with a wipe as there's obviously a lack of attention to detail in this area. Hmm, more importantly, FOOD - Had a regular lunch on a week day around 3pm. Soup - nice and hot, right portion. Not much to comment on this. It was nice, despite the small tiny chicken bones here and there which were about becoming an annoyance. Other dish option with chicken. - had a beetroot salad, probably with cabbage, mayonnaise, didn't even touch it. Didn't fancy it.Sweet Plantain - delicious, although, one, was just not enough!!. Love sweet plantain. Rice - cold, (or probably because the place was so cold everything gets cold even before you start your main). Average taste. Pasta!!!!:-/ I mean, pasta! Like a salad with mayo or some sort of single cream, not really sure what that was. It was alright, but, PASTA!!!???. Chicken - let's just not even comment on that. Cold, very hard skin, basically the knife would struggle to cut through it. Just not appealing. I have been here a couple of times before. This has been the least of my favourite visits unfortunately. I feel this place needs to be injected with a lot more love and attention to detail. Good luck

Their set menu of the day is brilliant, different meats (usually types of pork, beef, oxtail) and soups daily with a drink for £7.50. Their homemade sugarcane juice is delicious. Sometimes you get a little bit of cake at the end! It's always full of Colombian people which is a good sign of quality. The staff are absolutely lovely. We had actually booked at Casa Sibilla which is opposite, but when we saw how cramped & over-crowded it was we came here instead! The chorizo and chicharron had a very weird taste, las empanadas had a good flavor but you could tell that they had been fried a long time ago so the outside wasn't good, the kidney beans weren't good at all...the blackberry juice and passion fruit juice were good and the service was excellence. Visit this place as I have a keen interest in Colombia. Located a direct five minutes from Brixton tube station within a very hip arcade. The restaurant is located at the heart of this mall. Once at Santafereno you might as well be in Bogotá and dining in a local joint. From the servers to the music to the food, it's all Colombian.Pick a seat inside or out. Inside is typically where the Colombian patrons eat whilst outside you'll get more local clientèle. The seating inside is very packed, you can even seat right up with the serving window from the kitchen. Outside is still under the cover of the arcade but it is more spacious. It gets busy here and dies down again quickly.I obtained a nice seat with no problems on this occasion. Tables are neat and with a bottle of table water along with fake flowers. Very prompt service with menu's detailing each dish in English as well. The service is great. A lady and gentleman served the area throughout and where always to hand and very knowledgeable on the dishes too. Starters ordered were Arepas, Bunuelos, Empanadas. Mains being Sancocho, Pollo con Salsa de Champinones, Sudado de Cola. The latter of the main dishes referenced was the only dish that came short of expectations, not because it was it failed to taste good. But rather because it wasn't as I remembered it being in Colombia. I could put this down to the condiments tasting different. This could be explained simply as being a regional variation of the dish I know. Another little niggle is the Aji (chilli sauce) being not quite authentic! I believe the chef is using locally obtained chillies as a substitute. It would be great if authentic Chirca chillies were used instead. Other than this, each and everything was wonderful and I felt with the atmosphere along with the flavours, as if I were actually in Colombia again. Truly a home from home. There is little I would change about this place. The dishes are great value for money. Come here especially if you are hungry. The restaurant could spruce itself up with just a little more Colombian patriotism to give strangers more of an appreciable Colombian experience. The servers do not need uniforms. Smart trousers with simple blouses and t-shirts would present far better. The outside window could have the divisive screens removed so that customers and potential customer are able to see the busy kitchen working.London is famous for international flavours. Get yourself here for something different from the drudge people are running after in this city these days. Even against the neighbouring establishments serving their "up themselves" food. This is proper food that's just meant to be enjoyed.

I went for #1 on the a la carte menu which was Churrasco argentino (I think), and I couldn't believe my eyes when the T-bone steak turned out, my meal came out on 3 separate plates because they couldn't fit it into one large square dish, so I basically had the entire table space to myself. My steak was about 25cm in length and just as big width-wise!!! It came with chips, fried plantain, salad & rice & two dips/sauces!!! Absolutely amazing steak & so well cooked & seasoned (tell them how you want it cooked), probably one of the best steaks I've ever had in London and definitely the cheapest. £13 for all of that!!! I saw a lot of Columbians there as well, which was a good sign and it was completely packed at lunchtime on a Saturday! I have pictures on my phone to upload and will definitely be doing so!

Good unpretentious Colombian restaurant in Brixton Village. Friendly, efficient service and pleasant atmosphere. Food good although nothing special and reasonable value for money.

Have been coming here for 5 years.. At the very least once a month. It's casual in the otherwise pretentious Brixton Village and the food is authentic Colombian, full of Colombians both working and visiting and it is massively delicious with huge portions. Can't recommend it enough. Great casual vibe, don't eat before you go!!!

As a Colombian person living for 4 years in England there are dishes I miss and simply they are too elaborate that I can't cook them at home. I knew I could find "tamales" in brixton and just walking around my friend and I found this little Colombian food paradise. The dish was so taste, warm, fresh and perfect Colombian cusine... even the music .. so Latin environment! The waiters were very helpful, friendly just excellent service even their presentation..They prices are very fair..I just don't need too look anymore, I found my place for Colombian food in London...

In the heart of Brixton Market I found this Colombian Restaurant which takes you straight back to Colombia. The people working there seam to be from there and the interior is just like I remember it from various places in Colombia. The food is very authentic and delicious. Plantane, Arepa, Empanadas and even Colombina gasiosa.

Mixed feelings: The hotdog looked impressive and was nicely presented however the outside ‘skin’ of the hot dog was so tough it was disappointing. That said…the garlic bread fries were AMAZING and I would go back again just for them!

Very warming and tasty take on a sunday roast. Ideally would liked a thicker gravey and fluffier potatoes but the crispiness was on point. Service was amazing considering only 2 on shift for a busy sunday lunch rush with a table of about 10 turning up with no reservations. The guys working dealt with it all calmly and still provided attention to their guests

Brazilians honoring the flag, with impeccable cuisine, excellent service, with generous meals from £12, I recommend it 100%, tip if you are staying at a hotel close to the restaurant, as it is worth having lunch at Tia Maria every day.
