We were booked for lunch in the Brasserie, myself my mum and oy daughter, From the moment we arrived to the moment we left total disappointment. Staff left us waiting for a good 10 minutes at the entrance, then we were finally taken to our table, the staff member chewing loudly on his gum, it wasn't very busy maybe another 3 or 4 tables in total. we ordered drinks and the soft drink I ordered came in a pint glass which isn't very lady like so I asked for a straw, when the young lady brought this back I tried the drink and it wasn't what I ordered so had to send back which wasn't really an issue. Upon reading the menu we were quite excited as its sounded lovely and was quite expensive so we thought we were in for a treat. My mum and I ordered the Cauliflower and horseradish cream with pear and walnuts for starters, on the plate were 5 see through slices of beetroot, the smallest segment of pear you can imagine two tiny mounds of cream and half a walnut. for the price there was approx. 0.75 pence of produce on the plate !!, and to add insult to injury the cauliflower and horseradish cream did NOT have any flavour of horseradish and cauliflower it was just fresh cream !! not good, I flagged this to the waiter who found it amusing and then said he would let the chef know, but we didn't hear anything back regarding this. Main course no better, mum had a burger the roll was 2" thick on the base and also the lid, it was so hard we could bang it on the table and was not edible, my daughter had gnocchi which I can only describe as the texture of a burnt smiley face that you had as a child shocking, my meal was the fish and was mediocre at best and such a tiny portion, we declined a dessert as didn't want any further disappointment, we didn't receive any apologies for the starter and the staff pretty much ignored us after that, we were glad to get out, oh and one last thing the toilets need attention ie to be cleaned they were disgusting. Overall the prices were that of a high end restaurant but the food the service and the facilities did not back this up at all, total disappointment.

Afternoon tea disappointment. Terrible service throughout our afternoon. It was meant to be special occasion for us , unfortunately it was ruined by waiting staff who couldn't care less. Every time we wanted to order something my husband had to get up go to the bar and ask. We waited for 30 min sitting at our table and nobody came in to take our order . Shocking behavior for such a lovely place. Food was good but really do not recommend this place .We expected something really nice ( even McDonald's will bring you food to the table ) .

Sad to say, we went for afternoon tea for my birthday as we started over the last few years to make it an annual family event. We loved it so much last year but this year a number of items where lacking. 1. No Rose Champagne available for afternoon tea anymore, which my personal favourite so had normal champs 2. We were offered refills of tea and coffee, there was only one tea bag in the pot for two people and the refills for both coffee and tea where just water. No additional or fresh bag nor coffee beans. So both where undrinkable as it tried to wait for it to have a but of colour, but nothing. 3. My mum had brough vouchers from the hotel when booking the afternoon tea. She had them ready on her phone to pay at then end as she wanted to make sure she paid as a gift for me. When paying she was asked for a printed version of the vouchers. She showed them the emailed version of whoch then she was asked to email to reception who then printed them and brough them to the till for payment. In this day you think everything would be paperless. It was also a rather long wait while said vouchers where emailed then printed....so dont bother with vouchers I say unless you goving as a gift and not attending so print them out before going. 4. Considering there a machine at the bar to pump gas into open bottles of champ that have gone flat you think the voucher system would be a little more hightect! The over all hall itself is as beautiful as ever and the staff are super helpful and lovely.

The arrival at Rushton Hall is spectacular and only gets better as you enter the stunning building. We were seated in the beautiful Great Hall on a relaxing sofa with music to match! The staff were all lovely and so accommodating and my gluten free afternoon tea was just as good (and as tasty!!) as my friends version & very filling!! A lovely, relaxing and very tasty experience that I hope to do again soon!!

Had lunch here this week the setting is very nice not many places you can see Pheasants wandering around out of the window. The Dining room does not get as much natural light as the room that Afternoon Tea is served but it is very nice. Had Steak and chips and my partner had Fish and Chips both were very good. I asked for the Steak to be medium to well cooked and it was just right, it was a lovely piece of meat just the right amount of caramelisation on the out side but still tender and a very nice flavour. I sent my complements to the chef for the way the Steak was cooked its quite rare today find that standard when eating out. I had Passion fruit Cheese cake with sorbet and my partner had Bread and Butter Pudding with custard both very nice, cant remember seeing Bread and Butter Pudding for years but the bit I pinched was lovley. Two courses for £30 was quite good value I think considering the quality and we will go again. The Staff are also very pleasant.

An expensive disappointment. We thought we’d treat ourselves to the 7 course tasting menu At £90 per head it wasn’t going to be cheap but it was our wedding anniversary. We’ve eaten at Rushton Hall several times before in their Brassiere and always had a great experience. The Tasting Menu was served in the fine dining Tresham restaurant so our expectations were very high. Sadly it was an expensive disappointment. The set menu hadn’t been printed so we had no idea what was in store. The 2 waitresses were very inexperienced and whilst very polite were unhelpful at explaining each course. Of the 7 courses we thought 2 were worthy “fine dining” dishes. The rest were presented nicely but were underwhelming in execution and failed to excite on flavour. Maybe we are being too critical but when you’re paying £135 each for a exceptional meal you expect a better standard. My advice, save your money and eat in the Brassiere instead.

Location. The restaurant is situated in the lovely settings of Rushton Hall hotel. The 1593 Brasserie is worth going to on any occasion. Service: We were well looked after by Sophie and Caden who gave impeccable service, were prompt and attentive to our every need. Cost: Mid range. Comments: My husband would have liked the mains to have more seasoning (he had sea trout) and I did overhear one patron say about more seasoning on the steak. However, overall, many thanks to the chef for both the chocolate brownie and the apple cremeux, which I hope to have again. Next time we visit, we will try the 7 course tasting menu.

There were four of us in our party, my elderly parents and my husband and I. We wanted to treat ourselves with something really special due to two of us having bad health issues earlier on in the Year. The orangery looked absolutely beautiful when we entered, you could fault anything at all , that is , until the food came. At £150.00 per head, we wanted something special, and special it was not. The starters were smoked salmon, or soup. We choose two of each. I knew from looking at the plated food that was put in front of us , that this was going to be a bad idea ! The soup was luke warm, the salmon was ok-ish ... Next came the turkey... That was the only option, or a vegetarian choice. At £150 per person you would expect more variety ! Down went the plates ... No side orders of vegetables No gravy boats... Just plain old turkey, a couple of Brussels cut in half , two carrots, two parsnips , two roast potatoes..on top of all that sat , a Yorkshire pudding!! It really was embarrassing that we had suggested coming here , when other year's we have chosen far better places within Northamptonshire and Leicestershire... Then the child size Christmas pudding came , I had the chocolate dessert option. No hand made chocolates on the table with your coffee afterwards, dare I even mention a mince pie !! Rushton hall really did let itself down completely! Our table paid £600 to eat , food that would have been served in a pub. In fact pub food is better than what we were served. I should have cancelled the booking when the pre ordered menu was emailed, as that rang alarm bells... Rushton hall you were not fit for purpose with the money you took off us , and the food you gave us. Dreadful absolutely dreadful!

We were looking forward to Afternoon tea with friends for a long awaited catch up. The catch up was great , everything else was pretty rubbish. We arrived at 4 and taken to a table in a window alcove. It was freezing so immediately we asked to be moved. The chap who was spoken to said he would look into it, we never saw him again. At 4.25, nothing except another waitress clearing a table next to us. We eventually asked her as it appeared that she might be preparing it for us to move. No such luck and in fact she questioned the fact that we had said we were cold….how rude ! Eventually after lots of faff and declaring we couldn’t all fit on the table next to us we moved there and fitted around it with a slight squeeze but no real problems. As 5pm approached we were asked for our tea and drinks orders which arrived 15 minutes later with a ‘selection’ of cakes and scones. The sandwiches were fine and as expected but the cake selection was limited and not varied. If you didn’t like cream then you were a little stuck ! Throughout the tea no one approached us for refills or asked how things were, not even when we paid. Overall poor service, surly attitudes and limited selection. You’d be better off at the local garden centre and save a packet. Read the other reviews for clarification. They aren’t bothered so why should you spend money here.

My friend is staying at the hotel in a couple of weeks and is hoping to dine at the restaurant. As she has medical dietary requirements she rang up today to see if she would be able to be accommodated ( bearing in mind a chain like pizza express can accomodate her) she was told she might be too 'awkward'. When my friend eventually said that She can eat plain fresh fish the lady said that they always have fish so she can just choose that! Her whole tone was dismissive, rushed and made my friend feel like a nuisance. I am writing this as she does not have a trip advisor account. I can believe when i look at the prices of both the hotel ( that they are booked to stay in) and the restaurant that in this day and age they can't be more accommodating or at the very least be less begrudging in tone.

The website for Rushton Hall claims it does the "best Sunday lunch in Northamptonshire" - well, I sincerely hope not or Northamptonshire has got problems! I visited here with family and the hotel itself is stunning with beautiful grounds. We were asked to arrive early, presumably to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the great hall which was very nice. The service up to this point was impeccable; the problems started when we went through to the restaurant. In short, the food was so bland it was almost tasteless. I had the cauliflower velouteto start and in addition to very little flavour, it was also barely warm. The bread rolls, which arrived only just ahead of the starters, were far from fresh. I then had the roast beef for main - again, I have never had a plate with so little flavour! All the components of what should have been a good meal were there, but it managed to be completely bland and unexciting. The other key problem was service - at no point were we offered another round of drinks, and I couldn't help but notice to large food stains on the waistcoat of one waiter. For a restaurant which clearly sells itself on pomp it really failed to deliver. I am sure there are far better roasts elsewhere in the county!

I was disappointed by the cake selection - the cakes tasted like they had been bought in - they seemed plasticy - not like a home baked cake at all. The macaron was awful - I think it was bubblegum flavour or something - totally inedible. The sandwhiches were lovely, so were the fruit scones. The plain ones were very boring. Not enough clotted cream or jam. Beautiful surroundings and lovely presentation, just disappointing on the sweet items. Save your £ and just have a cream tea or go to The Dining Room in Northampton.

This is my favourite place for afternoon tea. It may not be the cheapest but in my opinion it is one of the best. The attention to detail appeals to me, the way that the food is arranged, the way that the crockery is placed in front of you. Each pastry is a masterpiece that it is almost criminal to eat it, but fear not, if you do the waiting staff soon tempt you with a 'top up' of sweet treats should your cake stand look as though it has room to spare. The food is of a high quality, the sandwiches were fabulous, I'm not sure how they manage to make a cucumber sandwich taste so heavenly, from a food that is fairly tasteless! My godmother and I were not rushed into finishing our food, the staff were attentive but not intrusive. The service was faultless.Afternoon tea is served in the great hall, with fabulous architecture as your backdrop and comfortable seating you soon loose track of time.I am a huge fan of afternoon tea and whilst so many establishments have thrown together an attempt, it is such a delight to find an establishment that raises the bar to gold medal standard.

Came here for afternoon tea and enjoyed it so I booked a family table in the restaurant as a treat for my wife’s special birthday. We were not disappointed. The venue is astonishing. Driving up the approach road through the beautiful grounds you are given a sudden view of the house which is breath-taking. When we arrived we were all seated in the main hall for drinks prior to eating. It is eye-watering. The dining room is wood-panelled and open plan, not cosy but very atmospheric. The Sunday lunch is £35.00 per head including tea/coffee and hand-made chocolates. The quality of food and the service you receive for that is unbelievably good. Homemade bread and focaccia primed us. I had pea and mint velouté with ricotta as starter. Never had it before, it is a frothy soup and was amazing. The roast beef main was superb, cooked pink although if you prefer it can be cooked more. The finest part of the meal though was the strawberry Romanoff. The best dessert I have ever eaten. My belly testifies that I am an expert pudding eater too. It was simply beautiful, in taste and presentation. My son had it as well and we both said at the same time “wow, just this dessert justifies the price of the meal”! The cheese selection was outstanding with an excellent cracker provision. Delicious coffee with a platter of hand-made chocolates finished us off. This is a destination venue and the toilets are glorious!

Although we have lived nearby for 10 years its our first time to Rushton Hall. (used the cross country practice course many times). We were greeted with a very warm welcome. The disabled parking was filled by no disabled drivers including contractors vehicles and no one made an attempt to assist. The ambiance was first class. We were shown to a table and service was prompt. The food selection for all including my GF range was excellent. Made fresh GF scone's - very tasty. The wine was superb. The only issue was the main male waiter was abrupt; gave limited eye contact and didn't make us feel welcome. So overall a bit of a disappointing experience. I am sure we will go back again one day and try the main restaurant.

Went here on a Wednesday afternoon for afternoon tea. Price was £25 each and both my wife and I both agreed it was the best afternoon tea we'd had anywhere.Delicious selection of 5 sandwiches, scones and then a selection of really tasty cakes. We were given refills on the sandwiches, and offered complimentary cakes too but had to refuse as we were so full. Will definitely be going back. Excellent.

Formal looking restaurant with well spaced tables but rather quiet on a Sunday evening so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Reasonable menu choice with 6/7 options for each course and varied enough to suit most tastes. Very professional, friendly service and a good pace. After a very tasty amuse bouche we both opted for a duck starter - my wife loved the duck liver mousse and I was equally pleased with my confit duck mix - both beautifully presented. The mains were also very good but didn't quite hit the mark of the starters - the scotch egg should really have had a bigger egg and my beef was excellently presented but a bit unbalanced - too much horseradish sauce and lacked some potatoes. We finished on a high note with an excellent lemon meringue desert and reasonable cheese board. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would go again if lived more locally.

Choosing to spend this amount on a dinner is something we reserve for special occasions (our wedding anniversary) - I have to say that this restaurant is really wonderful, easily as good as any of the Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in, and on a par with the best meals we have enjoyed in England (such as The Ritz) and abroad. All dishes were superb, and our photos don't do justice to the expert presentation - a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! We'd love to come back one day!

I had to review after the meal we had last night. I've eaten in many Michelin star restaurants and this has to be up with the best. The service was outstanding and the food just stunning, there was not one bad point to make. It's worth every penny and just on our doorstep it remains my favourite Keep up the good work Ps: the picture of the beetroot and goats cheese was destroyed by me, I couldn't wait to tuck in :)

Last year, for the second time , we were luckily given the gift of a High tea here. This second tie as every bit as good as the first. Excellent range of sandwiches and cakes , gallons of tea, attentive staff and all in the Lovely Main Hall which provides a remarkable ambience. Afterwards we had a lovely stroll around the beautiful grounds

Great food in the 3 AA rosette restaurant let down by some strange ingredients that just did not work in some of the pretty and flamboyant dishes being served. Staffed by unwelcoming frosty waitresses and a similar barman in the lounge. They need to up the ante in terms of welcome and customer service. We did need somewhere to put our coats but no-one bothered to ask. Main course was the best (Roast Beef). Restaurant lacks atmosphere - anyone thought of putting a flower arrangement in the Great Hall or the restaurant? It is all too bare and boring.

Although we live just 30 minutes away this was my first visit. I had hoped to make it a stay as well but that will have to wait for another time. We booked mid week so the restaurant wasn't too busy, there were other guests but it was really nice and relaxed. The arrival at the hall was awesome, the staff made you feel very welcome and the meal was lovely. For the price it was excellent value, 3 courses of top presented food, plenty of choice to meet all desires. The lady who served us was excellent, her articulation excellent, her manner a delight, she certainly helped make it a very pleasurable experience, will definitely go again.

Disappointed for a couple of reasons, firstly being put at a table with two sofas that were a distance apart so that conversation was too difficult as it was impossible to hear what was being said. We were moved to a much better table but if this hadn't been available not sure it would have been acceptable. On making the booking for afternoon tea I explained some allergies the party had. However on arrival we were asked again and staff were clearly not aware of my initial conversation. When the the food arrived it wasn't correct but we decided to just accept it.The sandwiches were plain, the cakes were uninspiring and limited in content. Then we were offered the petite trifles, given an extra one by mistake and told, never mind one of you can have it! For the price very disappointing, will go elsewhere next time. Staff very attentive and accommodating and the venue fantastic but too pricey at £25 not worth it.

I took my friend for afternoon tea as a birthdays treat, at £25 a head, it is quite expensive but the food, ambiance, and service was worth every penny, we had a wonderful afternoon. There was so much food that we couldn't eat it all, the waitress kindly advised us that she would box up the leftover cakes so that we could take them home with us, which was a really nice touch and our husbands thoroughly enjoyed them ! Would definitely go again, but save for a special occasion due to price.

The vista as you drive up the drive sets the scene for what can only be described as an experience which explodes the taste buds!!!! We were greeted and shown to the great hall. Where we were presented with a drinks menu/ price list...and our menus. The maitre'd came and took our orders, placed cushions behind my mum, aunts and my back to make us comfortable and waited patiently while we discussed the wine list... When our table was ready a waiter came to take us and our drinks through. The Great Hall is a wonderfully authentic room in which the decor, furnishings and fire place do it perfect justice...how ever the dining room/ restaurant did nor fall short of ambience. The meal that followed was not just a piece of art but every course had a wonderful explosion of tastes on each plate which all complemented each other.........totally and utterly yummy!!!!! The timings of each course was perfect enough time in between to saviour the tastes but not to long to get board or star finger tapping. The maitre'd had a quirky manner and was entertaining, efficient and fun, whilst being highly attentive in a non intrusive manner. The waitresses and waiter where also very attentive....they made you feel as if you really were their very special guests and nothing was to much trouble....considering their was a large wedding on in different Roos and 12 other people in the restaurant not including the 5 of us ...it takes some skill to attend to everyone and make them feel unique.Yes the price tag is in the upper bracket at £55 per head for the food...but it was worth every penny and more.....this is a gastronomical delight which tickles your taste buds and is definitely worth the money. It has leapt into my 2nd favourite restaurant in UK... And when we go again it might make 1st place !!!!!Thank you for a wonderful evening and for making it special for my family.

Visited Rushton Hall Restaurant for Sunday lunch today and it was first class. On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant young man who took my wife and I to the Great Hall where we sat and had a drink whilst we looked at the menus. The Restaurant Manager then arrived to welcome us, and shortly afterwards a waitress arrived to take our order. A few minutes later the waitress came to inform us that the table was ready and we followed her into the restaurant, The décor was excellent and everything we expected. The food was exceptional and very well presented. Nothing was too much trouble, we both felt thoroughly spoiled. It was our first visit to Rushton Hall but certainly will not be our last. After lunch we strolled around the gardens which I felt could have been more colourful, but still nice and peaceful, and certainly helped our food go down. This is the first review I have written without any negative comments, shows how good it was.

We attended Rushton Hall for a birthday celebration & I have to say arriving the venue is fantastic. Staff serving were lovely & there were 15 of us here for a meal. The one blip was that myself & one other had ordered soup which just didn't arrive. Staff were apologetic but it meant meal started without us & when the leek/potato soup did turn up it was bubbling as though microwaved - although still not that warm! However they made amends with a superb main course of Roast Beef & love the fact that amongst the vegetables we also had cauliflower cheese. Really good & varied selection of cheeses as well for afters. All in all an enjoyable experience

Had a meal at this restaurant while staying at Rushton hall ... Served with drinks in the great hall first .. Not sure what was going on with the French waiter as he kept dropping everything !!! Not a lot of choice on menu but there is a lot of variety in the menu. Taken to table and served some beautiful fresh bread .. Food here was a la carte it was stunning excellently presented and takes exquisite .. Excellent settings excellent service only thing which spoilt it for me was the couple to the left a blond girl and a man in there thirties who were having a business meeting at the table while eating and we did not appreciate having yo listen to her talking all the way through .. If people want business meetings there is plenty of areas in the hotel this can be done not when I am paying for an a la carte meal with husband for his birthday and having to listen to her ranting on patronising people all night .. Excellent meal ...

We visited the Tresham Restaurant at Rushton Hall on Sunday 3rd November. We rang up on the Sunday afternoon and they fitted us in the same evening. We asked to go straight to our table when we arrived, as we only wanted to drink a bottle of wine with the meal, but were informed that people order their food in the bar area before being taken in. We were left in the bar area quite a long time before being taken in, well past the time that our table was booked for. There were bits of mashed up bread rolls under the table in the bar area where we sat, but the enormous room that we were in was oozing with history and felt very regal. The restaurant was filled with couples except for our party of three, so our guess is that they were hotel guests because this old stately home really is totally out in the middle of nowhere. The food gave us the impression of an ambitious chef that yearned for Michelin recognition but just wasn't quite consistent enough with the standards of cooking. Everything was presented beautifully and plenty of advanced cooking techniques were demonstrated but the seasoning was off on quite a few of the dishes, this generally involved the use of too much salt, especially with green vegetables. They were obviously using top notch ingredients, the meat and fish were absolutely superb, the saucing was good but somebody seemed to be sprinkling far too much salt on the dishes before they were coming out to the tables. The service was done by a selection of pretty young ladies and it was them that really saved the day. They weren't pompous, Taylor in particular was very confident and professional and they seemed to work well together as a team. If the seasoning had been better I would have considered giving them a 5 because this was classy and ambitious cooking using some very expensive ingredients such as foie gras, scallops and truffles. Some people have complained about the prices but fifty five pounds for a meal in such historic surroundings with such expensive ingredients is not totally unreasonable. I just wish that they had paid a little more attention to the seasoning here because everything else was spot on.

Had afternoon tea here with some girlfriends. Positives: lovely surroundings inside and out, negatives: poor customer service, we were booked in for 3.40 and table was not ready, had to tea and coffee arrived but no sugar or milk, had to ask several times for the sugar and gave up in the end ( was advised by the waitress that she had asked herself 3 times for sugar for us and it still hadn't come, can't understand what was so difficult in arranging for a bowl of sugar). We also had to ask for more tea and coffee (shouldn't they come round and offer this without having to ask, my friend got up from the table to ask for more tea and was told sternly to go and sit down). The waitress did explain there were only 3 members of staff but that was the hotels problem not ours. Food was nothing special, felt it was overpriced at £22 each (would recommend The Granary at Fawsley, only £10 per head and excellent service and food). Felt very disappointed.
