Excellent family friendly country pub. They had a Jazz band on the evening we went, the beer garden was bustling and everyone was clearly enjoying themselves. The staff were were superb. We were served by Mike and Bridget through the evening. Who, despite it being a busy night, would still greet each customer in a friendly and welcome manner and find the time to bring our drinks and food to us offering a table service. We decided we were hungry and went to order food only we were abit too late and the kitchen had closed. Even still, the chef came out to our table to offered to cook us up some hot dogs and beautifully seasoned chips. We plan to go again in the near future

The Mother and son who work there are fantastic. Both very hospitable and created welcoming environment . I’ve told all my friends about them and I hope they hear this feedback. I’ll be returning again soon!!

Great place to savor a well-conditioned ale and enjoy some live music in the garden. As a displaced Brit living in California, it was so nice to find a local pub serving good ale (Timothy Taylor) and a pleasant staff. Rob made me feel welcomed - even though I was only there with family for a few pints. He’s obviously passionate about his venture and wants all his customers to have a pleasant experience. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay for food but I will be sure to stop by next time I visit from the Left Coast. Keep it up Rob!

What a friendly pub, The Manager went out of his way to be helpful. Food was great, As it was someone’s birthday, they even got a birthday cake.

Last minute decision to go as we realised they had a BBQ and jazz night. I messaged the pub and asked if they catered for gluten free diets. Rob got in touch and assured me they do. However, he later messaged to apologise they couldn’t get any gluten free rolls for the evening and sent me a menu. However, we weren’t aiming to get there before the kitchen closed so asked if I could take my own rolls, and he said there wasn’t a problem. When we got there we spoke to Rob and he said he wasn’t going to charge me for the bbq food as I took my own rolls, which was lovely of him. My partner & I had the hot dogs and the gluten free sausages were delicious. Thanks Rob and staff, we will be back.

Warm welcome at this pub . Just had a lovely Sunday roast lunch,pork was yummy . Made to feel welcome and felt a happy atmosphere everyone was friendly.

I came here for an anniversary dinner with my beloved, and it was all I could ask for and more. We were politely greeted straight away and that set the tone for the remainder of the evening. The customer service was absolutely splendid, I really felt like a valued customer. To top it all off, we received a free bit of a cheesecake as a thank you for choosing them for our anniversary! Would 100% recommend.

We booked last minute and we were not disappointed. The service was great, the owner was welcoming and the food was top class. Will definitely be returning. Thank you to all the staff for a delightful evening.

Lovely serving staff. The food was all or mostly fron lidls.£ 35 for a three course meal was extortionate. It was ok.The time between all people being served their main course was 15 mins. Food got cold whilst waiting for our gravy. Desert was still frozen..The English mustard was out of date. But I am still alive. The upside was we didn't have to wash up.

Absolutely awful service! Bar lady was slagging off customers with the intention of them overhearing. Larger served in ale glasses. Wasn’t allowed food as they had bookings (the pub was dead). Wouldn’t recommend, get better service at raunds McDonald’s.

We had a lovely lunch for 15 of us . Michelle was very helpful & chef made us special healthy chicken salads. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back!

We popped in for lunch and a drink. Friendly, welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. A small but interesting menu at reasonable prices. Efficient service and excellent food, perfectly cooked. Would recommend.

Today two of us a bite to eat. My son had the children's meal, chicken Goujons and chips,he opted for a side salad with it. I had the Chilli Con Carne. All very tasty and very well presented. The new chef is really pulling the stops out.

We went with friends on a pre ordered festive menu lunch. The starters were lovely and nothing to complain about. Likewise the deserts were also very good. The turkey mains were not so good. the turkey was stone cold and there wasn't a great deal of variation on the plate. Some roast potatoes a few carrots and Brussels some stuffing a parsnip and a sausage with bacon wrapped around it and no Yorkshire. We felt for £29.99 for a festive me menu it wasn't great value and certainly didn't feel festive and we didn't even get a cracker to pull. We did tell them and they offered to heat it up but we didn't fancy pinged turkey.

Waited an hour on a Sunday afternoon and only received drinks, when we asked how long our starters would be, we were told the chef had walked out and someone should have told us, which they didn't, at which point we walked out too. We had a 2 year old with us so waiting around any longer wasn't an option. On the way out we were confronted by rude staff asking us why we weren't going to pay for our drinks, which I thought would have been quite obvious. Poor communication. Inexperienced staff. Can't comment on the food, but not worth a trip back to find out.

We thoroughly enjoyed a perfect Sunday roast in the Hare and Hound today. We both agreed it was the best cooked food including our starter dish, as well, pleased to know it it was twenty pounds for two courses, good value and excellent staff service. Thank you.

We were unsure what to expect with the H&H but were plesently surprised. Varied choice of food (typical pub grub), but all was delicious and well presented, came out as large portions and all hot and fresh. Staff were amazing- they gave my dad several shots of sambuca as it was his birthday, and were chatty and friendly (we hope they enjoyed the rest of the birthday cake we gave them!) We will certainly be back!

Very Poor and don’t get sucked in by photos!! Looked on line and photos of food but as a birthday treat this place destroyed the day. Photos day it all but dirty food does not get a good review. £133 for food which mostly went in Bin!! Scampi and chicken was okay but salad was brown and very poor. I made family go here rather than a Beefeater!! Big mistake and so much for supporting local pubs!! To polite to say anything other than it was okay when asked but what a complete wash of money and spoiled birthday treat.

Went in at lunchtime with a large group of friends before going for a footpath walk, very friendly and efficient staff and good selection of drinks, we were given complimentary home made crisps which were very tasty. None of us had a meal but looking at some diners the helpings were plentiful.

Called in for lunch. Haven't been here for a few years. Was pleasantly surprised. Excellent menu, with lots of daily specials. Nice to see that they haven't cut back on the menu as so many other places have.

Wow what a great Sunday lunch, great communication and contactless delivery. Today we had the Sunday lunch menu and were not disappointed. Food was excellent especially the lamb roast and the gravy was out of this world!. A smaller portion was made for our daughter which was also very accommodating. The communication and friendliness of this place was excellent. Everything was done on time within timescales. This was the first time we have tried this pub never visited. I can tell you we will be there as soon as we can and will definitely use again. Highly recommended.

Given the current difficult circumstances we face its great to be able to rely on your local pub for great takeaway pizza! Chef Chris and owner Jay chatted while pizzas sizzled away in outdoor pizza oven, welcoming and providing excellent customer service. It’s a win win and beats Dominos everyday

Under the new managers, the Hare and Hounds is going from strength to strength. This weekend for the first time there was a pop - up restaurant in the pub. The food was fabulous, the staff were efficient and friendly, and the beautiful Christmas decoration made for an amazing atmosphere. Had such a wonderful evening there and can't wait for the next pop - up.

The Hare and Hounds re-opened under new management last week, and has a lovely, fresh new ambience.The pub is open all day every day, and now serves coffee and cake. There is a new relaxing seating area, and a nice touch is that newspapers are provided daily.Looking forward to eating at the pub soon!

Only popped in on our way home for a quick drink so will have to go back to sample the food which is steak night on Thursdays and Fish & Chips onFridays. New owner and he seems really professional & friendly. Will hopefully give top marks when we’ve eaten there .

Me and my partner went for the steak night on Thursday. The pub itself is very small and basic and not very cosy. I like a country pub to be cosy. However, the steaks were beautiful. Locally sourced and cooked to perfection. The price was really good too, £11 for an 8oz steak with lovely skin on chips and salad. My partner had dessert too which she really enjoyed. I recommend a visit and we will be going back for the steak soon. The owner and the chef are nice and friendly too.

What can l say, lovely pub, great food local sourced and a down to earth landlord. Good value quality food and a good pint of Guinness to boot. Recommend to all my foody friends x

Been here a couple of times for a drink, very small and very local. Went on Friday for Fish and Chip night.........WOW, THE best fish and chips I've had down here, home made chips, home made tarter sauce, proper piece of fish which was fat and spilled over the plate. The food came out piping hot and was washed down with a lovely pint.Yes this is a local pub but they serve great food and great beer. And all for £8 each, BARGAIN.Will definitely be trying the steak night.Well done for serving first class food and first class beer.

Enjoyed a pint. It is a pub although it has a steak night on Thursday and fish and chips on Friday. Only been here twice so far, and found it relaxing and able to enjoy my beer and feel as if I was in a pub, and not a children's playground.

Currently under new ownership with limited dining evenings throughout the week. Went there with friends on the steak night, it could not be better , the food, the cask ales and of course the friendly atmosphere from locals and staff, I will return.

Just held a surprise party here for my dads 80th birthday. The whole staff team could not have been more accommodating and supportive. Pescado y patatas fritas son deliciosos y qué ganga por 8 libras con una pinta! El pub estaba concurrida y bulliciosa con vida, con muy buen ambiente. En alrededor de 10 jugaron un partido de asesino skittles, que todos los involucrados, muy divertido! Los locales y el personal son muy amables y te hacen sentir muy bienvenidos. Tried to book and no one calls back. When I finally get through receive a very grumpy response saying I'm calling too early. When I ask to book a table told that they dont serve lunch. Explained I wanted to book for dinner and she asked why I'm calling so early. It's 10am!Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Well they have lost out on a booking for 18 people.

We won a prize in a raffle which was to come to the Hare & Hounds on at Thursday night for their steak night. The streaks were cooked to perfection. Home made chips were also great. Nice cask ales too.

Having reviewed the website, tripadvisor and from an ad in a local rag, thought we'd try the fish and chips night at great value at £8 Inc a bar drink. Great value and worth the money. The meal was freshly cooked fish had lovely llight batter. Food good, pub ambience not great! It felt as though we were in a youth club! Having first hand experience in running a community pub, it's difficult pleasing both the shareholders (locals and kids running amok) and attracting outside business, necessary for the landlady to make a living and not just running a 'private club' for the village!

Had previously had good meals here. But now read on their website that it is all change so thought we would see how they are doing. Warm welcome and shown to a table with no waiting. Friday night is fish and chip night and very well presented. The batter is melt in the mouth and the fish is very fresh and perfectly cooked. Chips cooked just right. At the moment they are only serving food on three nights see website for details of the food served. I wish them all the best, will be back to sample their steak night soon.

What a lovely place :-) Although not very big the welcome certainly was. The locals were chatty & friendly too, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. A very enjoyable visit, we'll certainly be back again. Well done!

Both myself and my partner had a lovely walk around Stanwick lakes and finished with a delicious lunch, I enjoyed the Hare and Hounds special Club sandwich and my partner had the Goats Cheese salad, the menu was everything we expected giving us a traditional pub lunch. The atmosphere and staff were fantastic also, will most definitely come back soon!!

I'll start with the negatives, upon arrival me and my boyfriend were not greeted or welcomed even though the landlady/manager was in the bar area, she seemed to be more busy watching videos on her laptop and was rather rude when she did speak to us, there was a nice young labrador springing around the pub, which is fine as we are dog lovers but when eating the puppy nudged us and licked us while trying to have a meal, and the dog was also visibly coming in and out from the area which seemed to be the kitchen (hygiene) The food was alright, limited menu but didn't taste bad,would have expected a little more for the price paid as it looked like it had to be done on a very tight budget. Saying it was okay i'll also mention it was very slow to come out and we were never offered second drinks, maybe because we were forgotten or maybe because socialising and drinking with her friends is what the landlady prefers to do during work hours. I hope this was a one off and doesn't happen often.In honesty I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone or feel the need to urge my friends to go which is a shame because if it was being done right the pub could work well but I dont see it going anywhere.

this place, got there today for a special birthday celebration which had been booked for weeks. CLOSED - the chef walked out this week and nobody even had the courtesy to let us know. What an unreliable shambles. Never think about booking this place unless of course you don't want to eat!!

Well, what can I say?! Table was booked weeks and weeks ago for Easter Sunday 5th Apr which coincided with my Grandfather's 80th Birthday (he lives in Kettering). Plans made for family to travel from Suffolk, Norfolk, SE London and SW London. Great. I even called on 1st April to confirm booking and check we could bring balloons and birthday cake etc, "yes, no problem sir, see you on Sunday". Best April fool joke I've had played on me for a few years, what a fool! After almost 2 hours of travel for all involved, apart from ageing grandfather (thankfully) we were told that there was no booking, no record of a booking and no chef who had apparently "walked out last week"... well thanks for the phone call I never had to tell me this, although with our 'fictional' booking and 'fictional' phone number I left, this would have been challenging and very basic customer service seemingly?! The lady my sister spoke to on arrival was seemingly rude and totally unhelpful.As for the food, don't know, don't care. We found somewhere far better who welcomed all 9 of us at short notice and had a lovely lunch. We don't visit places you can't trust, so suggest anyone who reads this does the same and goes elsewhere. Utter nonsense.

Mother's Day and based on ratings here, our selected venue, we like pubs over restaurants if done well - and good point number 1 - dog friendly. It really is a pub though, it has 5 or 6 tables and they were all in use as you'd expect, but this still meant only 15 or so dining - so why it took over 2 hours for 3 courses isn't entirely clear. The staff were polite and fine, beer good and the food quite good. A limited menu for Sunday we expect, 2 meats, one fish and a veggie option and with starters and puds for a fixed £20 not bad at all. But a wait of around 30 minutes between courses was a little too long, we were not in a hurry, had a drink and talked so no need for complaints - but it seems the young lady waiting tables may have also been cooking it, plating it, washing up - you name it, she did it....Been to worse, been to a lot better too though, some must have had a much better experience than we did, best I can muster is - it's alright..

Haven eaten here many times throughout the years I thought it would be about time to write a review.The pub received a renovation a few years ago which modernised the pub in a good way and it still has that old local pub feel to it. The atmosphere is amazing in there due to the wooden skittles table, the large fireplace and the friendly staff as well as the new landlady Holly! There's a mixture of seating, bar stools, sofas, outside tables, and normal restaurant tables. There are fires in both the restaurant area and the casual seating area so it's certainly a comfortable temperature in the winter!The food in the hare is amazing with myself having the burger many times and it being incredibly good each time! The prices are also good considering the quality of the food and the service.I would highly recommend this pub to anyone!

Went for Sunday lunch with the family yesterday. Homely feeling in the pub with a lovely labrador puppy who wanted to be everyones friend running around. Nice selection of cask ales. The menu was a little restricted with a choice of 4 starters and 4 mains. Only roast beef available. The food when it came was nicely cooked and presented. We were the only diners in the premises at the time so there was a lack of atmosphere,until a number of locals came in to watch the rugby on t.v.

Simply amazing village pub. Really nice atmosphere with extremely kind staff and a truly amazing chef it seems! The food was incredible and the whole evening couldn't have gone much better!

Had a delicious Sunday lunch here today with our toddler. Truly tasty. Lovely staff. Will definitely return and have an evening meal next time. Although I would've loved the fire to have been lit. Or the heating to be on. It was a bit chilly.

Just been to the hare and hounds in great addington for a Sunday dinner, 3 courses for £20, what a bargain for, I'm not exaggerating very very top qaility food, don't hesitate get yourself there to eat, you won't be disappointed...

We had a meal here and we're very surprised at the quality of the food. The locals in the bar were all very friendly, overall a fantastic experience and would definitely go back, amazing food!!

My family and I have eaten out at the Hare and Hounds several times over the last few months and have had a range of fantastic meals. The menu is changed regularly and the chef is amazing, producing top quality, beautifully presented food. Even the steak night meals are very good quality and if you book at least a day before hand you can ask for a fillet or a sirloin steak (at a slightly higher price) instead of the rump. The staff are more than happy to help and are very accommodating.

Our visit tonight was not good,the restaurant was very cold, waited over an hour for main meal, when we asked how much longer the meal would be the waitress did apologise and we were offered a drink on the house , I should think so, the meals were pretty average , for the price would have expected more . All together very disappointed will not go back again.

What a lovely meal, beautifully cooked steaks with some of the best desserts i have sampled. I would recommend this pub to anyone who wants a high end meal surrounded by friendly locals and a great atmosphere.After 10pm on a Friday night the locals play skittles and with an open offer to the whole pub, diners and drinkers to join in, it really makes everyone feel included and makes for a truly individual experience.

We had Sunday lunch at the H&H in November 2014. It was an excellent meal served in cosy surroundings by friendly staff. The entire experience was a delight. The Chef (we learned) had only arrived a few weeks ago but had already won an award. If the quality of the food was anything to go on then he will certainly win many more.Try it. A fantastic meal, beautifully cooked and presented and although I don't usually like puddings I had a taste of each of the others in the group puddings and am a convert!

Walked into an already busy pub with my partner, to be almost seen to immediately and politely even though it was clearly busy. The food was amazing, better than any of the other local pubs in the area, almost too good to be served in a pub. But that is why we would return because the food was such good value for money. The staff were all polite, the gorgeous girls complimenting the bar and service were very helpful and not too intrusive like you can get in some places, good manners too, and even the tall handsome pot-washing lad smiled and asked if we were okay and it all just gave us a welcoming feeling, this is what pubs should be like. Very enjoyable evening, with amazing prices that would be silly to miss.

Wonderful evening, with a variety of different gins to taste in-between four courses of stunningly good food. The menu created by the newly crowned Northamptonshire chef of the year was sublime, with each course being complimented by the different gins. This wasn't mere pub grub, this was top-notch restaurant quality at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend attendance if this evening is repeated. Atmosphere was relaxed and the tasting notes were helpful. The staff were very attentive.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening with family. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very welcoming and friendly. Will certainly be going back to sample more of the menu.

Popped in with a friend for a bar snack a few days ago. Excellent food and very pleasant service. Would thoroughly reccomend it.

My previous review was perhaps hasty,after visiting again on a number of occassions I find a complete change.The staff are very friendly and welcoming,and the food is lovely,great experience all round.

A lovely small pub/restaurant with very good food and nice atmosphere. We have eaten here on several occasions and have always found it an enjoyable experience. Our children love this pub as it is very friendly and has a very good and safe play park.

A friend recommended the Wednesday steak night offer to me and it didn't disappoint . We were given information about the nights menu when we phoned to book a table and were given a very to friendly welcome on arrival. After choosing our drinks we were shown to our table in the warm newly decorated dining area. We were told that all the food is freshly cooked to order and locally sourced. As it was steak night we both choose steak, for my husband a six ounce fillet steak and for me a rump steak. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive, it looked delicious and was well presented on the plate, both steaks were served with tomato, mushroom, chips and the most crispy onion rings. We were offered sauces and mustards and then left to enjoy our food. Both steaks were cooked medium rare and were delicious. The waitress returned once to check the food was OK and to top up our wine glasses . Desert was not included in the offer but we decided on a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and an orange and cardamon slice with orange cream. Both were very tasty and finished the meal perfectly.We both agreed the food was fantastic and we would return again very soon.

Just had a christmas lunch meal and it was very nice, great service and great food, Would defiantly go back therer.

Used to visit when this was a village pub no food but skittles and darts. Fully refurbished, modern scrub top tables small dining area and separate area with soft seating for coffee or just a drink. Joined friends for lunch. Crisp white linen napkins, even at lunchtime, excellent start.Proprietor extremely friendly, helpful. Food was all home cooked by the chef. Good choices either a la carte menu or the bar menu. An offer is that the lunchtime main course is half priced for a smaller portion, which we thought was a brilliant idea. We shared a plate of charcuterie between 3 to start. The cold roast beef, belly pressed pork, and terrine were delicous. As were the home made piccallili and the chutneys. Warm bread and plenty of it, with a garlic butter served separately. Added to the plate a garnish of salad sufficient for all of us. Our main was a smoked salmon and prawn salad which was very fresh and just enough. Will definitely re visit.There is a large car park, and an even larger garden, so it is child friendly.

As a local resident I was very pleased when the Hare & Hounds reopened, the interior is much improved, on our last visit however, the barmaid/landlady spent the whole time we visited on her laptop.We were never asked if we wanted a menu or food.I tried a coffee which was dreadful, undrinkable,by this time she had disappeared upstairs so we gave up and left.I won't be returning and hope that when The Bell reopens it will be more welcoming.
