Lovely little cafe enjoyed a coffee and a slice of cake , service was really good , dog friendly and child friendly, atmosphere was brilliant as well , perfect cafe

Had the Tuna Mayo jacket potato. It was delicious and well balanced meal - with salad, coleslaw and quinoa. Coffee was fragrant too.

Went in for coffee ended up having jacket potatoes one with coronation chicken and one with cheese. 2 coffees and it was Beautifully cooked. Will be back next time we come up from North Wales.

Got a bacon sandwich each for the 4 of us....absolutely lovely. Perfect breakfast sandwich for a good price. Hash browns were lovely too. 😎😎

The service on Sunday was terrible. Ordering is good and quick. Our drinks arrived immediately but our two sandwiches took 40 minutes to arrive. It would have been better for staff to inform us of this . But customers ordering toasted teacakes or scones were served straightaway, all coming from the same kichen

Very lovingly furnished café in the typical English style: beautifully kitschy, old furniture, everything lovingly thrown together. The most important thing: there were scones (which we looked for in vain in Newcastle, where there were only sterile chains with no typical English delicacies). Everything was wonderful here!

Annual trip to Tynemouth. Annual trip to Rene’s for a drink and a snack. Cafe as quirky and quaint as usual. Staff as nice as usual. Food as nice as usual. Nothing more to say really. Will no doubt be back on the next visit to Tynemouth

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very tasty scones with clotted cream and jam. The Yorkshire tea was also very good. Nice furniture and decorations.

Two friends and I visited here for a coffee and scone. This is a wee magical place - loved the decor. The coffee and scone perfect. Staff were attentive and helpful. Worth a visit 👏👏

Really disappointed. Only went in as our usual cafe was shut on Mondays. Not sure if they were having a bad day but all the staff looked miserable. My husband ordered a sandwich which when brought out was slapped down on the other end of the table with a grunt of "Food". The coffee was shocking, tasted weak and milk far too hot. I'll stick to our usual place or go without next time

What a great eat place with lovely staff. We had a fabulous gluten free lunch today, we had a BLT with salad and coleslaw and a cheese toastie also with the extras. Both freshly made and delicious, definitely had to try a gluten free caramel slice, wasn't disappointed, we'll definitely be revisiting, it's also dog friendly.

I visited a couple of days ago, and ordered a chicken and gravy stottie instead of a thick white bread. When it arrived i did not receive on a stottie, but I didn't complain as it looked very delicious on white bread anyway. It was one of the nicest sandwiches I have ever had and would visit here again.

Lovely little cafe in the heart of tynemouth. It doesn't stand out a great deal from the front street so never been here before, but its lovely inside and staff are really nice too. We chose this as was looking for something other than the traditional fish and chips every time we visit the coast. We had toasties and milkshakes on this occasion. Worth a visit.

What a fabulous find in Tynemouth. We had the lentil and bacon soup and shared the roast chicken sandwich. It was so good I came home and made the soup myself! It is nigh on impossible to resist the cakes on display so we shared a piece of coffee and walnut cake, it just melted in the mouth. Will definitely return!

Been a couple of times, staff helpful for cuppas and cake

Regularly use on a Sunday morning for a cuppa & bacon sandwich. Also have a good varied menu. Comfortable, Relaxing venue Good value for money.

Lovely cafe on the main street. Great coffee...Nice range of cakes... They brought the food but I had to ask for the table to be cleaned as they were putting it down on what was clearly a dirty table... But other than that we'll worth a visit

Lovely little cafe in tynemouth, great outdoor seating right on the street to take a break. Hot chocolate with marshmallows is a must.

One of our favourites though haven’t been for a while. Nice selection of food and drinks. Only downside is it isn’t the largest of places however does have outside seating (handy for dogs). Food always lovely!

Good quality coffee and a good toasted teacakes. Loads of butter and jam, not daft little wrapped items. Pleasant staff in interesting surroundings.

Absolutely lovely service and food was outstanding. We had cheesy fries the cheese thickly melted over French fries and a tuna panini with delicious coleslaw and salad. We had lattes mine was made with oat milk and it was the best latte I’ve probably ever had. I can’t recommend this coffee shop enough. Worth 5 ⭐️

Looking for somewhere dog friendly we were lucky to be able to sit outside in the sunshine . The cheese savoury storie was served with a small dish of fresh salad , dressing and a small dish of crisps. All fresh and delicious and a great value lunch .

Took my wife for her 1st ever afternoon tea a few weeks ago and Rene's was amazing. Pricing was good and the food was quality. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.

No dogs inside. No problem it was a lovely sunny April day and we sat outside. I was greeted by two lovely, friendly ladies inside who took my order. All cakes looked delicious. The one we chose to share was delicious. Cappuccino was great. We don’t live locally but when we visit Tynemouth, this is where we come. Thank you ladies.

Such a lovely and popular café - I was greeted by friendly staff who directed me to the menu when I asked about hot food. I felt welcome as a solo customer. The french fries were served on a wooden board which was kind of stacked - some had already dropped onto the table as the waitress brought it over. I would suggest a bowl for practicality. The decoration was nice with fairy lights on the window and it was a pleasant experience to sit and watch people passing by outside. Gentle background music and plenty of seating for groups. Decent washroom at the back of the café which also has a baby changing facility. Only criticism is that the staff forgot about the coffee I ordered, which was rectified quickly after I asked where it was, but I had paid upfront so I think it would have been missed.

What's a great place! Big surprise on plus compared to other similar places! Great tasty food served. And how it's looks you can see on picture. Maybe looking small from outside, but more space upstairs. Very nice and friendly staff . Worth to visit if you close, or travel if you far away. See you again soon 👍

Lovely and cozy little cafe who were very catering to my dietary requirements. Loved that there was a vegan chocolate fudge cake, it was delicious! Great food and quite affordable too. I was shocked when my apple juice, sausage sandwich with crisps and the slice of cake only came to roughly £10, thought it was a great price for the quality of food! I can imagine it can be a busy little cafe but I visited with my friend at around 1/2pm on a Thursday and there were a plenty of seats available. I’ll certainly be back!

We had a long tiring day of walking and decided to grab a coffee and bite to eat. We'd never been to Renes so decided to give it a try. Well... What can I say, it was JUST what we needed! The coffee's were amazing and the food was even better! Not to mention the whole atmosphere of the place really perked us up. It's like a mini Betty's Tearoom! The place was buzzing and they have the loveliest of staff. Always served with a smile, Sophie in particular was fab! Really nice girl. I'll deffinatly be coming back to Renes and strongly recommend everyone to give it a go.

Went to Rene’s for afternoon tea. The spread was amazing. Good choice of sandwiches, all freshly made and the scones and cakes were gorgeous. Really good value and lovely friendly staff. Great value for money. Will definitely be back

Quirky little coffee house on the Main Street in Tynemouth. Went in with my husband he had a toastie good quality ingredients and a nice full toastie I had a panini which was very tasty my only tiny niggle is you get bits of sides salad, coleslaw, couscous and dressing and they all come in separate little pots the sandwiches are on a flat wooden board so you can’t tip them out because the dressing wouldn’t stay on the board which makes it difficult to eat out of the tiny little pots I’d save on washing get some plates and pop it all on a plate. Coffee was lovely you can taste the nice quality

Great little coffee shop, cheap cakes and a wide variety of drinks and food. Would recommend stopping there for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime.

Nice relaxed place to meet up - I think it was a Friday about 12 - only two of us. My brother had the homemade soup which was pretty good and I had a hot dog which was really tasty and not something I would usually go for - thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't remember there being much in the way of music, maybe there was but obviously the nice thing must have been it was not intrusive - lots of places seem to forget people get together for a reason - tat is to talk!! Looking forward to going back. Menu offers a good variety for all tastes and appetities.

It serves Decent Lavaza Coffee, which is usual for the area. Can also pop in for a glass of wine.. The staff are pleasant here and it's a good venue The menu needs work .. mainly sandwiches and baked potatoes which l find lacking in this day and ay

Scone was fine but forgot about our Order, brought the wrong order out and then the exact same thing happened to the lady beside me

I paid Rene's a visit to try their coffee and cakes and it was quite a good experience. I didn't mind paying £ 3.95 for a very generous slice of caramel cake that looked and tasted first class and my cappucino was generous for £ 2.85. The staff were friendly and service was decent enough. However, Rene's is rather cramped inside and while I visited on a weekday and found a table easily, this might not be the case at the weekend.

This was our second visit for lunch. On both occasions the food was excellent, the service less so. Yesterday we were seated next to the service counter. A customer asked that a dogs water bowl be refilled. The young lady working on the counter immediately collected it and filled it up. Once she had completed this she returned to the counter and continued working without washing her hands!! Basic hygiene rules which should be enforced by the management.

First time visit Saturday 4/6/2022 . First impressions are lasting ! Superb service ,sandwiches and fries Great .Definitely be back !

We called for lunch. There were three of us. We ordered a BLT, cheese and ham toastie and a peri peri chicken, mozzarella and jalapeno panini as well as three drinks. The coffee was very good. The sandwiches were all served with side salad, dressing and coleslaw. The BLT also had crisps. The food was very good. The ingredients were high quality and ir was all cooked really well. The bill came to just over £24. If I visited Tynemouth again I wouldn't hesitate to visit.

Six visits to the area during the last six years. Just had the fourth visit to Rene’s in that time. First one was excellent, second not so good, third better again, so I think it can be a bit hit and miss, but no complaints this time. It’s a lovely little tea shop with lots of character. Staff are friendly. They do a mean fruit scone with clotted cream and jam. What more could you ask of a tea room? No doubt we’ll be beck again on any future visits to the area

Nice coffee shop, but no one about when we 1st went in, no prices on cakes we chose, when asked she just said oh you pay when you leave. Having said that, cakes were nice & i liked the decor of the place & you weren't rushed out, so would go again.

Had a simple order with friends, soup, sandwiches and a hot dog (which was obviously microwaved) I I could cook all of our order in less time, it would taste better and it would be cheaper. We waited 50mins for our food and the staff...

Poor service . Non existent really. Gave up after 15 mins. The Sunday staff (at least) do not know how to treat their clientele. Shame as it used to be very good but could never recommend it any longer.
