A really nice cafe with gorgeous food, unfortunately ruined by a really rude and sarcastic member of staff. A real shame.

We were a party of six adults and two children. We had a great table that was in the "mix" of the restaurant/café, and the cinema, of this great atmospheric building that is a superb art gallery as well. There was plenty to keep the children gazing around, the paintings and models of all types. The food we ordered was so varied that I wondered how the restaurant would manage, but the kitchen, and the waitress, coped magnificently; it was absolutely delicious! The resultant bill was very fair for the size of the party and given the amount of alcohol consumed. Everyone stated that they would return. Highly recommend for couples, families and groups of friends. There is also plenty to see nearby, marvellous boutique outlets, and the most amazing antique shop further up the road!

This could so easily have been a better experience. The one positive was the food which was very nice indeed, however the service let this place down. We were here for 3 hours catching up with friends but after the initial offer of drinks and the taking of our order we were then left to our own devices, no offer of repeat drinks was made.Empty main coarse plates were left unattended for at least 30 mins and were cleared only when we asked for a desert menu. We were then told there were no deserts available, which had we been told at the start would probably have meant we chose a starter to go with our main. As I said good food but service staff were far more interested in what was on their phones, what a shame.

Great food and great choices especially for vegans. I particularly recommend the Paratha. Also the blonde lady who is front of house is so lovely, friendly and welcoming it feels like being invited into someone's home. She and the team set a lovely atmosphere in the beautiful Kino Theatr

Popped in the other day, on spec & on me Todd. Had a large piece of cod fillet on new potatoes with an olive & capers Puttenesca sauce, topped with Samphire; accompanied by a large glass of viognier. Couldn't fault any of it, including the price, and the staff; who I always find to be relaxed, unfussy, and professional. Not sure I've ever left this place disappointed. Long may that continue.

After walking around for ages looking for a place where I could go and eat solo (with my dog), I spotted this little gem. Not little actually as it's part of the gallery and cinema next door, There's a lovely energy inside all areas, even though I sat outside on the little table in front of the restaurant. The menu isn't too big and for what seems to be a bit of a mixed bag, it works and the food was lovely, I ordered the burger for the dog (yes I tried a bit and the fries were spot on too). For myself, I ordered the Thai mussels with rice noodles... what a treat. You're not going to complain about portion sizes or the service waiting time. The one thing I do want to really emphasise here is the lovely staff. I think it was the online duty manager, who couldn't have been more helpful and considerate. It's not always easy eating out alone, but he and his assistant, who was also lovely and watched my pup while I used the restroom, were just both so nice. After a full-on day, it was just the hospitality I needed. Nothing a problem, Delicious food, great staff, and reasonable prices. If you're unsure about where to go in St Leonards, just try it, its such a breeze.

We’ve always had an amazing experience eating at Reel, and we’re thrilled that they could cater our wedding at the Kino. The food was excellent, communication with Sam and Michelle was wonderful. They helped make our day go smoothly and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Over the years, the dining area of the Kino has had a few different iterations, the most recent of which were Arigato (delicious, delicate Japanese food, now housed at Heist) and Parlour (fantastic brunch; excellent wine list, really got it right.) They’ve now taken their offer in house, with the aptly named Reel. I’ve visited a few times, mostly for lunch, but today I popped in for breakfast. The food today was fine, though perhaps lacking on the small details- my fried eggs were overdone on the underside, I was given margarine instead of butter (which is unforgivable to a butter fiend like me! If I was in a greasy spoon, fine, but Reel is aspiring to more of an avocado-on-toast vibe). The service has always been really warm and friendly, and it was again today. Again, it’s the little details here that need refining: it’s not the fault of the serving staff, but some little things like automatically giving a bottle of tap water to each table or having a dispenser on the bar, would really help. Quite a few of us asked for water, and it slows down service - these kind of little things could help it all go more smoothly. I’ve had a delicious seafood chowder here, some pretty good tacos, and it always seems to have steady business (but it’s not as busy it it could be). If Reel can sharpen up some of these details, and I’m sure it will be a destination restaurant to be reckoned with.

This is my second visit to this new restaurant. I’d hoped the lacklustre food on my first visit was due to teething pains from the place just having opened. Unfortunately the food on my second visit was no better with others at the table with various different dishes all commenting on same lack of joy with the food. The drinks and service are lovely, but plan to have your dinner elsewhere.

The latest cafe at Kino St Leonard's is certainly a poorer version of the previous cafes that have occupied the position. Breakfast with tinned tomatoes, heated through bacon and cold plate was not an experience to be repeated too often.

1st time visit to this new restaurant. Me, my wife, my son, and his partner were celebrating and chose to try Reel. I'm really glad we did! The food was excellent, including vegetarian options. The service was 1st class - a special mention to Bertie, who made our evening - thanks, Bertie. We will definitely be going back soon.
