Just had a delicious lunch in the cafe. The special today was steak (or chicken + mushroom) pie, new pots + veg. I had the steak pie, and they couldn't have stuffed another gram of steak into it. The pastry melted in the mouth and the steak was so tender. As said, absolutely delicious 😋

Popped into Reeds Cafe and we ordered a Black coffee and Darjeeling, a speciality tea which I drink at home all the time too, with a cheese scone and a slice of coffee cake. The coffee arrived nicely hot but the tea was NOT Darjeeling but strong breakfast tea...Ugh The scone was quite light and nice, however the coffee cake was very dry and had obviosly been there some time (stale)... So disappointed that I will not be rushing back.

Called in to Market Deeping on our travels and discovered Reeds Homestore. We needed a break and some refreshments. We had our dog with us and had been refused entry to Weatherspoons! But we were made very welcome in Reeds cafe that has an area for those with dogs. On arrival a member of staff filled a water bowl for our dog. There was a jar of small dog biscuits on the table and a selection of beds to make our dog comfy. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the cakes were delicious with reasonable prices. Well done Reeds for making our visit a pleasure. Other businesses please take note.

Disappointing Christmas dinner for £16:95. We came along as had been recommended to visit for the roast dinner. Not sure this represented value for money with very little veg and couple of slices of turkey and the trimmings. Wish we had stuck to the normal menu or the fantastic range of cakes which are always phenomenal.

We had a substantial roast dinner for £10 which included fresh vegetables, proper roast potatoes and yorkshire with a good amount of roasted pork. All staff were really friendly and service was nice and quick.

I’m not local and I didn’t know where to go for a coffee when passing through town. To my surprise, I found this cafe tucked away in a corner of a furniture store (I was forgetting I was in Norfolk and should therefore expect the unexpected). The cafe does the full range of food from full on diners to a light sandwich. After browsing the goodies in the store, I ordered a latte and apple and cinnamon cake. Both were very good, as is the decor and furnishings, so no surprise there. The clientele, I noticed, were rather elderly, which is also to be expected given that I was there at mid-day on a Wednesday. So, all in all, a very good stop-off in a pleasant town.

We ordered a pot of tea for 2 which tasted terrible so did not drink it. After bringing this to the attention of the waitress we received another pot of a speciality tea which was very good, however then had to pay another £3.80 so in total had paid almost £8 for a pot of tea. Customer service is non existent in my opinion. When I pointed this out to the manageress she said well if everyone sent their order back when they were not satisfied there would not be any profit.......hmm okay!

Had tea for 2 and a piece of fresh cream coffee and mandarin cake and a piece of walnut cake total cost almost £12. The coffee cake was dry and did not have much coffee flavour it looked good but actually not very nice. The walnut cake itself was ok but the buttercream frosting was awful, just like a layer of butter which was on the turn, peeled this off and left it on the plate. It was full so perhaps the meals are better than the cakes

Reed's Cafe has a "local" reputation as the place to pop in for a coffee, scone or snack when you're in town shopping. We did just that one day. We both had fruit scones and coffees and it was good. There is no ambiance, it is very noisy, crowded and there is no service. You go to the counter, order what you want and staff delivers it. The staff is young and just collecting $ with no interest in service, tips, etc.

The thing that really annoys me is there is never any prices on the cake and I was charged £3.25 for a piece of strawberry sponge which I think is excessive. I also had a cappuccino when it was brought to the table I asked for sprinkles. The girl huffed and puffed took it away then came back and plonked it on the table and most of the sprinkles were in the saucer. The staff aren't particularly friendly so I doubt we'll be back. I visit Norfolk 2-3 times a month and usually pop here for lunch, with my mother who is wheelchair bound. Despite our best efforts to annoy staff by changing tables, asking for soup before it was ready, staying an inordinately long time after finishing our soup (home-made tomato & basil soup which was delicious), we were treated to good food, good humour and help getting the wheelchair in and out and at a table. I love the variety of quiches, soups and cakes but see the roast dinners are also very popular. We look forward to our next visit.

In response to the gentleman who posted 'criticism definitely not welcomed' I would make the following comments :There was no offer on our Americano coffee. There never has been any offer on our Americano coffee or any other speciality coffee since the day we opened the café 11 years ago, the only offer on coffee is a refill for 90p on filter coffee. Interestingly in the 11 years we have been open, not one single person has queried this because it obviously is quite clear on our menu's and pricing boards. We do not accept that it is misleadingly priced on our menu's.

I've eaten in Reeds for over nine years, spending approximately £1000 pa. I've also spent close on £5000 in their main store over the same period. During my lunch last week, I decided to take advantage of an offer on their menu to have a refill cup of coffee - a small Americano - for a reduced price. As I was paying for it I noticed that I was being charged the full price. I queried this and was told that the reduced price 'didn't apply ' : as I was having an Americano the reduction ' didn't apply' I told the person serving me that I was very unhappy about this, felt it was a rip off as their menu did not make this clear - and asked to talk to the manager. Shortly afterwards the Deputy Store Manager ( who knows me) came over to my table. I advised him why I wasn't happy, and I pointed out the section on the menu to him confirming the reduced price offer. He was very helpful, and said he would discuss it with the manager. This morning I went into the cafe for lunch, and asked if there had been any feedback on my complaint. As I was standing at the till, surrounded by other customers ( some of whom I know) I was approached by the Cafe Manager who immediately made it very clear to me that she was very unhappy about my complaint, and - worse still - went on to accuse me, in front of other customers, of being very rude to a named member of her staff over the incident. I ponted out to her that I had not even spoken to the member of staff in question, and very much resented her aaccusation - but she was not prepared to listen, There then took place what I can only describe as a sustained attempt to browbeat me - even after the person I was accused of being very rude to denied it, and confirmed that she didn't serve me! As a 74 year old pensioner, I was not prepared to be browbeaten in such an outrageous and disrespectful manner, and made it clear that I would cease being a Reeds customer. The charming response from the cafe manager was that 'they didn't want me as a customer anyway' Needless to say, I will ensure that she gets her wish..An absolutely appalling example of how not to deal with a long- standing customer's valid complaint. It really did beggar belief : I have to say that in all my years as a consumer, I have never had such a thoroughly unpleasant customer experience

Friendly, busy café, food is good but beware a lot of the food is microwaved and you need to ask if you do not wish to eat microwaved food

This is a cafe attached to a local independant furniture and homeware shop. It is almost exclusively filled with locals who have been shopping so expect a sea of grey with the occasional family. The best I can say about the food is that it is safe. Sandwiches, jacket potatos, some pasta and the all day breakfast. You will leave feeling fed. Nothing wrong with it. One step up from Greggs, one step below pub grub.

Food is very good, although a bit pricier than elsewhere in the town. Service is fine although it can get a little crowded from time to time. All in all a very pleasant little cafe.

The food is OK - just general cafe lunches and snacks - but it is overpriced. The staff were friendly, but way too busy and service was slow. The decor is mixed, and generally a bit tatty. It's OK as a cafe for a quick sandwich - I wouldn't head there for a nice lunch.

A really good atmosphere and friendly service. Hidden in a shop that sells almost everything of good quality, this place has always been full of happy, social customers everytime I have visited; definitely probably the best café in the town and certainly the most popular. This is surprising as you would not know it was there from the street, so I can only assume the business is popular by word of mouth recommendations. Set in the historic old school house it has a great ambience and is very welcoming.

Finding ourselves in Downham Market at twelve we decided to park free at Morrisons with the intention of having a quick snack lunch . In we went picked up a news paper looked for the cafe there is no cafe. We paid walked around the outside of the store through an arch onto the Main Street where Reeds department store faced us a sign advised their cafe was up to the left past their delivery vehicles, in a door to the right to a bright pleasant cafe the welcoming smell of coffee and cooked lunch made up our minds to sit down. The tables were clean the wood floor polished the chairs comfortable. Now hungry the menu contained all the usual soup jacket potatoes sandwiches we wanted something a bit more, on the counter a specials board offered choices of good simple hot food we picked ham and egg with bubble and squeak from the range of hot and cold drinks an apple juice and latte at less than twenty pounds. Having selected and paid we sat down again the drinks soon arrived and shortly after the food well presented as described two slices of tasty ham sunny side up egg homemade bubble and squeak crispy on top the whole meal delicious and filling once we finished the drinks we were ready to get back on the road . An excellent find .

Ordered a toasted tuna melt. Very genours filling as was my friends cheese and tomato. Served with a side salad with a lovely dressing. Friendly staff, service maybe just a little slow but it was at a very busy time and at least we knew all was prepared and cooked to order and we wasn't in a hurry. Very reasonably priced menu. Would recommend and definitely plan to visit again.

Fabulous home cooked food to order, brilliant staff over the whole premises not just the cafe. Lovely home made cakes and reasonably priced.

Reeds once stood for top quality service in all areas....but times have changed. The cafe offers food to the table but you have to queue to order and at busy times there is quite a wait. Disappointed with tea and sandwiches but main meals looked better.

We regularly pop in Reeds Cafe for coffee and cake, all the cakes and scones are homemade and it shows - they are fresh and delicious. Sandwiches are hearty and all food is nicely presented. Although we haven't eaten a full meal here, all the food looks absolutely wonderful and is good value for real homemade food.

Reeds cafe is out the back of the main store and offers a wide range of good quality cafe style food. Unfortunately despite lots of staff the speed of service is very slow and the welcome isn't very warm. No problem if you have loads of time, but very frustrating if you pop in for a quick coffee. I have moved my loyalty to Charmed Interiors. A shame as they are slightly out of the town centre, but I can't stand poor service.

Quite small waiting time is slow food is lovely home made scones etc slightly over priced I think could do with being a little more modern inside has the feel of being in someone's lounge also needs some ventilation very warm and stuffy inside other than that I would recommend

The shop is wonderful .. the café is OK for a quick snack .. atmosphere not helped by crying babies. Note to parents .... engaging with your child is the best way to settle them .. leaving them to 'howl' in public is a dis-service to everyone else.

We stayed at the Kings head for 2 nights in August what a super gem of a hotel. The food and accomodation was excellent. We were made very welcome and will definitely stay again.

Great looking venue but the worst meal I’ve had in a long time went with family I think if I was on our own would have left meal and gone I had fish and chips thought would be nice it was over cooked on top could not even eat the batter one mouthful of peas the underside of the fish was undercooked my wife had burger the bread roll looked like a cheap roll from lidle falling apart absolutely no garnish a wimpy would look better plonked down with no finesse went on to pudding thought I would go for the poached pear got about six thin slices of pear on some chocolate mousse good fifty pence worth of pudding for eight pound I thought in fairness wife’s sticky toffee pudding was nice.up half the night with bad stomach just to top off a bad night

Had a nice meal for 2 here. Decor and building is lovely, service was efficient and meals came out quickly. A decent choice on the menu, not insanely expensive depending on what you chose. Chocolate brownie dessert was delicious.

We came home with a great selection of apples and pears from the orchard, some we had not heard of before, they are all the same price by weight so you just make your own selection into a bag. We will be batch-baking apple-crumble for the freezer. They also have a nice butchery selection and local cheese amongst other edible. Not so keen about Gurneys the fresh fish shop as they didn't seem to want the custom they shut up early. The Fish and chip shop had a gluten problem which I will review separately.
