Food is way over priced, and the mess is unbelievable I feel sorry for the cleaners.

I was rather disappointed. My cake was stale and my hot chocolate was disappointing (and not very hot). The service was okay but the place itself was cold and had inconsistent lighting. Not quite the cosy end of a nice walk I was after!

This cafe is very disappointing in so many ways. Long queues and waiting times. Savoury food options are very limited and not very tasty. The floor can get really dirty at times, worst that what we can usually see in other NT coffee shops. We found the specialty coffees rather bland and tasteless. The cakes are inconsistent, sometimes it's alright, sometimes it's not. And overall very pricey. It's such a shame for such a beautiful place to have this underwhelming cafe. Although the last time we went, there were beef pies and chicken pies added to the menu, and it was very good. I'll update my review if things change.

Shockingly poor set up. I queued for 30 minutes before reaching the tills (if we weren't starving I wouldnt have bothered) and waited another 15 minutes for the food to arrive. Our order was missing items and when I raised this and asked for it to be resolved, the staff member didn't come back! For the sake of £2.50 I wasn't prepared to waste any more of our day out getting back in the queue to get it sorted. The cafe is a joke. The queues are always hideously long, due largely to the fact they have two tills on the main queue, and people want batista style coffee which takes an age to make, which backs up the 20+ people who just want food and not hot drinks. They seriously need to rethink this arrangement.

After a very poor and disappointing visit last year when the food was in poor supply and poor quality we were thrilled this visit : great menu and delicious toasted sandwiches; friendly and helpful staff. Can only think the cafe is now under different management. Many thanks and Keep it up!

Good quality food, very nice light with good views inside and out to eat

Ridiculously slow if you are queuing in the cafe with ice creams. Would make more sense on a warm fine day to have a cash till they can open near the ice creams to pay for them quicker. By the time you have queued with those wanting drinks and food ice creams have melted. Drinks also way overpriced but free water refills is excellent.

Airy room with plenty of tables both inside and out.The scones have now got a new recipe by the way and are more like rock cakes.Not a plus point. Unfortunately over the lunchtime period you can expect to queue up to half an hour to order/get food which i have found on at least 6 times.After 2 may be better if you hate waiting.Staff are helpful and will carry your tray if you ask.They need more people serving at lunchtime.Quality of food is good although not inexpensive.After a good walk round the gardens this is an ideal place to get your breath back. Spotless disabled toilets a bonus.Entry to site now expensive enough to stop people coming ,best option is to join if you visit Gardens regularly

Rather busy when we were there. The food is slightly more expensive than a local cafe.

The hot food items seemed to contain a lot of cheese 🧀 and that limited the number of items I could pick, as I am sadly not a fan of cheese.

Love this restaurant especially on a warm summers day when all the doors are open and everyone is outside, it had a great atmosphere. Homemade scones are 👌 no cheese scones were left so they obviously have low 'stock', hence the 4, not 5 star from me, as I do like a cheese scone. Refreshments were welcomed on a warm day like this and the staff were extremely friendly and didn't wait at the till much at all and managed to get a table right next to the massive floor to ceiling windows.

Really could do with more food choices. Cheese scones are lovely but not really a place to go for lunch unless you want a sandwich or soup!

This is a very pleasant and airy restaurant. There is lots of space inside and out. A little bit clinical inside but they have tried to make it interesting with the decor. The food is good if bland, the curry is barely detectable but pleasant nonetheless. It is reasonably priced given the captive audience. There are good vegan and gluten free options but not clearly labeled so best to ask.

Standard national trust cafe/restaurant. Not cheap, but reasonable quality every time. Not many options.

Despite being a sunny and warm bank holiday, the service was excellent. As a vegetarian I really appreciated my many options. Chose a jacket potato and it delivered within 5 minutes and very nicely presented.

I always visit Redwoods Restaurant before starting my walk. It is clean, good selection of food and drink which is reasonably priced. The staff are friendly as well.

A great place to eat when the covid restrictions have been lifted

Jacket potatoes over cooked, skins were rock solid.

Hot food isn't around for long. Sandwiches in short supply and cakes made from poor quality ingredients. Only saving grace is good service by the staff.

The chef appears to have a vegetarian agenda. We visited on a Sunday and the main meal option was vegetarian. The only meat on offer was a sausage roll. I had the pea and mint soup with a cheese scone, as I knew I would now have to cook on returning home. The peas tasted like mushy peas and the soup had a dull grey green colour and I guess the mint leaf had been dipped in and out rather quickly. The scone was fresh but not very cheesy, possibly mustard powder had been added to add a stronger flavour. Given that other NT properties who do not have custom built facilities can offer full Sunday Roasts this was very disappointing.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food reasonable prices

Lovely food which is typical of the National Trust served in a nice big cafe with an outdoor seating area. Gets extremely busy at all times and jam packed during the school holidays.

Excellent venue for our pre or post walk cuppa and scones. NT scones are the benchmark for all the other scones at the various tearooms we visit around the country. Theirs is a high mark. Price has decreased to £1.75 across all NT properties.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and a nice choice of food .

High chairs available. Indoor and outdoor seating. Hot food can stop early on very busy days. Very tasty!

Did not visit although expensive

Had an AWFULly good time, the food was DISGUSTINGly good.

Today i had lunch in the restaurant consisting of pea and mint soup and a cheese scone. The soup was awful, it was like eating a hot tin of mushy peas. I think thats what it was but with the addition of a sprinkling of mint which actually you couldn't taste.It was thick enough to stand a spoon up in and I had to leave it. The scone was tough and also inedible.The scone mixture was obviously handled to much, what a disappointment. I often eat in the restaurant and used to live in Lode but whoever was in charge today did a poor job of managing the food preparation Mary Stevens
