Ely Spice indian takeaway in East Cambridgeshire

Ordered here...never again, horrendous curries that had no flavour, keema naans that were just like thin strips of overcooked steak, very chewy meat and the naan it self was very chewy...to top it off was left with food poisoning

Chicken madras could have been a beit hotter with the taste. Naan bread tasted like dough, found it a bit undercooked.

Absolutely appalling delivery man Couldn’t find my house ( it’s a new build estate) so over the phone I have clear instructions how to get to my house. After back and forth for about 10 minutes. I just told him to wait where he was and I’d drive to him to get my food!!! Then to be met by him constantly showing his phone in my face saying my post code is wrong. It isn’t. It’s a new build which I explained to him and he kept showing his phone in my face I kept saying ok. He then said I put it in wrong and started to tell me to stop getting angry. I wasn’t. I just kept saying ok. I then said you’re making me upset by saying my address is wrong and shoving your phone in my face. Once he finally handed me my food. I walked back to my car, for him to mutter something in his home language. When I said excuse me? He goes. No no. Not you ( there was nobody other then us around) Absolutely disgusting behaviour

Delivery came in about 15 mins from ordering and clearly too quick as it's the worst takeaway we've ever had. Tasteless, poorly cooked curries, flabby flavourless Naans, rice sufficient and cost £40 for two people. Threw it all in bin, ordered pizza.

Food was terrible. Spent so much money ordering a takeaway from this place and it all tasted quite bad. The lamb was very tough you couldn't chew it and the curry sauce was just pure garlic. Would not recommend 😕

Disappointed that my order was incorrect and I received a chicken royal mango instead of paneer. Also a bit sad that you only two samosas. By contrast you get four bhajis and they’re great!

We used to often eat in here as a family but the quality and taste doesn’t appear to be there anymore, takeaway arrived cold and rude delivery driver.

The Veggie Curry is watery, not spicy. Wouldn't go again. The service was diabolical. Waited 40 mins. Seriously gone down hill. Forgot Poppadoms. The Veggie Rice was more palatable than the Curry. Incredibly expensive at £30 for 2 Veggie Curry + Veggie Rice. +1 Naan. We could have dined in at a proper Restaurant. I should really have made it myself or made us Omelettes. Wouldn't recommend not in this lifetime. I can't believe they are still in Business. No way would I have sold that to anyone.😔

Great food and customer service

Really poor quality food. The bill was £50 for a meal for two. The sauces were thin. The chicken was poor quality and the lamb was stringy and like stewing meat. Would not recommend.

Quality of this ppace seems to have gone massively downhill. No taste to the mint sauce and clumpy. The sheek kebab was literally inedible as it was so fatty it couldn't be chewed, had to throw it all away.

Place has gone downhill. The food is tasteless. The meat is so chewy and fatty it's inedible. Had to throw it away. Massive disappointment. Only good thing was the delivery driver was friendly.

The chicken for everone's meal was over cooked. It spoilt our family get together. The response from the takeaway was unacceptable

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Overcooked and not what we ordered. We complained via the Food Hub app and they claimed it wasn’t overcooked. We then phoned up to try and resolve they asked that we give them the food back so they can check. Literally arguing over the phone with them. Absolutely appalling. Update: They came to pick the order up, proceeded to pick the chicken out and shove it in our faces saying it’s fine. Then dropped the chicken all over the floor littering on our property. A number of our family members got very upset including a 3 year old! I can’t stress enough how unprofessional this place is, please avoid.

The food was terrible. Cold, curry looked like soup, chicken tasted like it was frozen from the supermarket and got a cucumber and mint sauce rather than the lime/pickle I ordered. Would not order from here again!

The food was bland apart from just being too sweet. Butter paneer felt like a generic dish that had no flavour. Aloo tikki was again bad. Not ordering from them again. Quality has significantly deteriorated. Bad experience.

We used to go here quite regularly for a takeaway and it was always decent if not excellent. The last two visits have seen a massive drop in quality. Overly sweet barely spiced slop which have ended up in the bin. I won’t be returning.

Over 1 and a half hours from placing the order. Was Luke warm.

The website was easy to use, and the staff were friendly when we picked up our order. Aside from that, the food was surprisingly awful. Most the dishes were overly sweet, like cloyingly, nauseatingly sweet. The saag paneer was like creamed spinach with heaps of sugar added to it and no chunks of paneer. The lababdar and butter masala dishes were flavorless sugary slops. The chick peas in the chana masala tasted like cardboard. Indian food is usually one of my favorite cuisines. My expectation is flavorful, complex dishes that make you want to keep going back for more. This was barely edible. I'd also like to add that we both skipped lunch and were quite hungry, and very much looking forward to Indian take-away. I ate as much as I could to satisfy my hunger and we threw the rest in the bin. I'm left feeling really sad.

Was a good takeaway - aloo tikka masala was the highlight for me. Standard quality in my opinion versus other takeaways I’ve had at least. Only downside was I didn’t get the papadoms I had ordered but was easy enough to get a refund through just eat

Luke warm no worries to microwave but the starter felt more like a stew no depth of flavour. Breads a let down sadly

After a bad experience with a take away, we were invited back to have a meal in the restaurant, It was amazing glad we decided to visit, we were looked after from the moment we stepped in the door until we left, we were given advise on which curry to choose and the food was exceptional - Thank you we will definitely return.

Thought I would give them a try after a not so good previous order. Waited over an hour for a 15 min delivery, on calling to find out what’s happened was told the food will not be delivered as I was being aggressive and hung up. Will NOT be going there again!!

I love Ely Spice, the food is always brilliant. Sadly this time the wrong rice was delivered and I received chilli rice instead of egg and it was far too hot to enjoy.

this was a nice curry however it was NOT a bhuna, it was creamy and yellow where as bhuna is usually darker and chunks of onions etc so i was very disappointed on that end that the curry was not what i was expecting but other than that it was good food

My order arrived towards the end of the expected delivery time and despite it not actually being late, Ely Spice adders free dish to my order to thank me for my patience. The food, as always, was really tasty and the portions were generous. A service you can rely on for quality and quick delivery.

Down south in the truck and they delivered directly to me on a lay-by. Felt like a treat and a treat is what I got, amazing hot food, amazing taste and good portion. Guy on the phone was very polite and helpful as well. Top place and hope I park in this lay-by again.

The restaurant needs to employ a chef, not a cook. Way too many flavours were lost or none existing. Too much oil, burnt spices and undercooked nan breads. All the basics were not achieved.
