Really good. Staff very friendly, location great for the shops and dining out. Only marked it down due to the mouldy bathroom

Had a lovely stay here, park in the carpark on the other side of Saracens head and put your number into the hotels computer. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and pleasant. They were very welcoming with our dog too. The whole hotel from what I seen was very clean and had a nice smell about it. The room was a good size and so were the beds. Hairdryer, kettle, towels, hand/shower soap and tea/coffee included. The room was very warm until 6am and then when I turned the heater on it didn't take long to warm up. We were on the ground floor next to the car park and it was very quiet. There is a massive park 2 minute walk away also plus loads of shops. I paid for late check out so I took advantage of having a good shop. **the only bad point that let this down was the bathroom, had mould in the shower area and no one bothered to try and clean it, I know they have a lot of customers but it needs regrouting or a good clean. Where the extractor fan is there was what I thought was mould on the wall but it could of been dust. Where the shower glass fit to the wall there is a gap where there is loads of cobwebs/dust... I thought there were hairs in the sink but it was hair line cracks in the sink. The shower head dirty, an old toothbrush and bleach would of solved all these issues.. The hotel needs to use toilet rolls and not the little individual wafer thin sheets you give to use.. Besides this we had a great stay and would highly recommend it to others. Be careful! Day before our stay they cancelled on us, booked months in advance, and the only other option was to pay much more for an alternative hotel. No reason for cancellation and not alternative given other than they over booked!! When you have a flight to catch the next day, this is really not acceptable and has left us in the S***!

Basic done competently and comfortably. Attending weekend conference 12-15th September from London by train to New Street (easy 15 minutes cab journey but returned on bus 5, 30 minutes). Room 209 overlooking car park. 30 minutes walk from venue/ 10 minutes by bus. Preferable to a previous closer Airbnb. They've remedied complaints raised here: cups are now ceramic. There are notices to respect noise levels between 10pm to 7am with threat of possible expulsion. Iron and board available from reception. I echo everyone's good experience with attentive staff. The main light wasn't working on my Friday return and fixed by Saturday return. Pleasant park next to hotel. I got croissants and bananas for breakfast from local Aldi keeping in room and evening extras from neighbouring restaurants. I found the meat at Cleopatra's Kitchen a little too tough for my liking. Reception staff told me I could get cutlery and crockery from the pub. Bathroom super clean including unstained grouting. Only toilet paper, clean towels and shower gel that didn't dry out my skin and liquid soap. No toothpaste but I think people bring their own toiletries these days. No paper and pen or normal tissues but one assumes these may be available from reception and cheaply available from local supermarkets. In my room, only right side of bed had a plug point not left but there are others in the room. Heater very competent too. Shower bracing. Comfy bed. Can't ask for more. I booked months in advance directly for savings with nonrefundable payment. Will likely stay again for next time.

The lady at the reception called joy is a joy indeed. Very kind and helpful, and welcomes you with a lovely smile. The property delivers what is worth that you spend.

Room was very clean and tidy. Staff were so helpful and very polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Didn't hear any noise from other people. Nice relaxing place to stay with parking and a pub next door, which you don't hear any noise from. Was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Bed was comfortable and bedding felt lovely to sleep on. Would happily stay again. Locals were friendly and chatty.

I went to the Saracen's Head, not Redwings as the location has picked up. Is the pub part of Redwings? Either way great pub! 5 stars!!! ❤

Very comfortable room, friendly staff. Attached to the neighbouring pub, which had delicious food at reasonable prices. Located just off the high street in Shirley, so plenty to do and see.

Decent hotel, good value for money.

Good place to stay on a budget, walls are a bit thin so noise from TVs and people in other rooms can be heard through the walls. Nice friendly staff.

Really nice hotel for the price point. Friendly lady at reception when we checked in. The room was nice and clean and quite spacious. Nice that they validate your parking as well, so free parking right in a Shirley central location is good. Shame they don't offer breakfast in this lodge, but there is a good wetherspoons just two minutes walk down the road.

Clean and tidy room, service excellent and near to shops and local amenities. The only let down was Saracen's head pub which is adjoining doesn't serve breakfast until 9am. There are plenty of other places to go, i.e Sainsbury's, Tesco or McDonald's.

Room was great,comfy bed n ideally located,next to eateries n bars,and not far from Birmingham airport.

Brilliant lodgings for the price. Parking was easy and the location is great for meals. We enjoyed our stay and will use them again.

I booked a room here through agoda and the dates showed wrong, I asked to see if I can change it and the staff was so rude and dismissive! I would not recommend or stay here again! Absolute joke!! It was an easy mistake to make and could of been rectified but they wasn’t willing to listen to me

Made a booking through Agoda last night for the next day (my husband's birthday), when I checked the confirmation email at 3am and realised it say check in 15th instead of the 16th and check out 16th instead of 17th. I called the hotel straight away, the Male said the booking has been made through Agoda and I will have to contact them to see if they can change it. I called Agoda and they spoke to the hotel if they will change it for me and that there has been a mistake, the hotel refused. I tried calling the hotel again at 6am asking that I don't mind paying the diffrence in the price and if it would be changed, the Manager was so rude, shutting and saying "NO WE HAVE ALREADY SOPKE TO AGODA AND DENIED IT". Then she told me you made the booking early on in the day and you decided to changed it last night, which was a lie, I still have the confirmation email which was sent to me straight away when I made the booking at 11pm. So she was basically lying. Clearly they had been a mistake, why would I book a room for the same day at 11pm. Manager was rude, sutting and is a liar.

After having a nightmare on the Motorway, blowout at high speed, we weren't able to get to the hotel until 2am. Receptionist was fantastic and assured us the room would be kept for us and would tell the night guy to keep an eye out for us + room was good with comfy bed.

Excellent value for money as was the attached pub. Room was clean and beds were comfortable enough considering we were in a family room with 2 extra beds

Super convenient for Shirley town centre, room very clean, staff cheerful and helpful. Attached to a Sizzling Pub, doing breakfast from 8am. Regular buses outside to Birmingham City Centre and around 5-10 minutes walk from Shirley Station for Stratford, Warwick and Worcester and connections to London Marylebone.

Simple but great hotel. Great value. The staff are really friendly and lovely.

Unfortunately you can't give a zero star review this place is terrible the room is over a pub which is fine but plays loud music till late the room is terrible with a vent duct right outside the window Rusty bath and water from the tap which constantly runs hot I can see why premier inn got rid of this hotel it's shocking please pay a bit extra and avoid

Good VFM. Typical 3* hotel but great location, free parking, an adjoining door from hotel into pub that serves good food. The friendly very helpful reception and housekeeping staff elevates it to above average. I used to live in Birmingham so wasn’t here to sightsee, but it’s on direct bus routes into the city centre being an easy option to access all that is there without problems with entering a LEZ or parking.

The rooms have everything that you need for a hotel tv, wifi, comfortable beds etc. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate anything we needed, anything that they didn't have they've taken into account and are planning on implementing it in the near future. Transport links into Birmingham every 5 minutes and right outside the building, only bad thing I could say if I'm being picky was that it says online theyve got a vending machine which they do BUT nothing in it ( they've said they're taking it out but I think big mistake )

Great value and lovely staff. Shame about the karaoke session people were having opposite us til 4am kept us up but not hotels fault - remember to bring your ear plugs!

It's a budget place so good VFM. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful. Also, the local services offer a vast amount of choice, everything you need is close by. Would definitely stay there again.

This is basically an old premier inn that has been taken over by new owners. The rooms are a little tired but the welcome is friendly and the location in the middle of Shirley is great with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Parking is free as well which is good.

We stayed at the Redwing in Shirley. We received a very friendly welcome from the reception staff, and the hotel was perfectly located with free parking to our needs. The room rate was excellent, comfy bed, exceptionally clean room and shower room. We were concerned that we may hear the traffic, but it was quiet and peaceful.

This place always delivers. Parking is free for guests which is a great bonus.

It's a very cheap place to stay, staff were lovely but the beds, like sleeping on the floor, infact maybe I should do that next time.... one light switch was so dodgy it took me 30 seconds to get the thing to stay on, behind every door there was a mark where the door has been opened with force. It's stuck in the past and needs a renovation. Will be back because it is cheap and a good location

Lovely staff and good location for shopping and eating out, plus the Sizzling Pub in the building was very reasonably priced with tasty food. The only issue we had was it was just after the incredibly high temperatures and the room being a typical hotel room with a window that only opened a little way meant that the temperature was still stiflingly hot even though everywhere else had dropped by 10 degrees or more. Sadly no air conditioning but fans were provided which did help, but it wasn't the most comfortable night's sleep. But not really the hotel's fault particularly, just unfortunate timing for our stay really. Otherwise it was a nice place.

Budget hotel but great situation. Pub attached and many shops and restaurants nearby. Room was comfy with good shower. More cleaning of grouting in shower needed. Helpful staff. Perfect location for bus into city centre and onwards to Commonwealth Games venues.

Nice standard hotel could maybe do with a little tlc but a pleasant stay. The food in the pub attached to it was fantastic

The stays at Redwings Lodge Shirley has always been perfect. The hospitality and the caring, pleasant nature of the staff is really worth mentioning. Special call out to Miss Joy and Mr. Mohammad for their positive, caring , smiling and helping attitude. I have stayed the lodge at many times and the stays have always been good and of decent quality. The rooms are neat and tidy and comes with a table fan. The lodge also had a parking which is a big plus for people with car. It also has a bar and a restaurant, which I tried only once and I found it to be ok. With decent price, this lodge offers good stay. Keep up the good work Redwings Lodge and team!!

Night staff was friendly attentive and very welcoming and we would highly recommend our stay at the hotel .. when we checked out,the equally friendly helpful lady made our stay even more pleasant and we would definitely stay again

Great location, confusion over entrance to parking spaces. We went with a dog and were made to feel welcome, service was excellent.

The price is good, the shower is nice, but the bed and pillows are awful. I was there for 3 nights for business and had a terrible night's sleep every night. I could feel the springs in the mattress and the pillows were like rocks. I have a 9 month old and was hoping to get a good night's sleep, instead I was awake by 5 and shattered every day. I will have no need to go back to Solihull, but if I do, I certainly won't stay here.

Amazing and such kind staff!! Especially the bloke on reception who works Saturday night. Rooms are always great very comfy. Good service and always cheapest in the area!

Had a terrible night. The mindless guests next room was playing music, loud and swearing from 12 to 3am. Rang and messaged the reception many times, nobody was picking up the phone. I felt helpless and worried. I thought the hotel is manned 24/7. I’m glad that we got through the night. But it’s not a pleasant experience. Managed to speak to the staff in the morning. She was very helpful. Maybe this is a one off. We were just unlucky that night.

Location is perfect, everything you need around you. Stayed at hotel 10 time and the service is great 👍. Rooms are clean and looked after

Helpful, friendly, professional staff at reception, when I checked in. Clean, well presented room. Tea and coffee available in the room, it would have been nice to have a few biscuits to go with the tea!
