Always been my go to pub any day of the week, especially match days but we were saddened by the replacement of the Camden pale ale. Was always a great pint, perfect everytime and I know there's plenty of cask/ keg available to tickle our tastebuds but we were bitterly disappointed to find Camden stout Instead. Hope it returns soon. 😥

Great pub with excellent pies! We visited as a group of 10 on Saturday and had 10 pies, mash, peas, gravy. Food was amazing and especially for the price. (Currently an offer for 2 meals for £20). Everything was amazing apart from 2 of the meals, but this was rectified so have to give them credit. I'd recommend this place to anyone vising Newcastle who loves a traditional home style pie, mash & gravy.

Used to come here many moons ago on a Friday night when younger and single- how times change!!😂 . Came for one of their lovely pie and mash lunches in restaurant week. You choose your pie from about 6 choices, then your mash ( cheesy, garlic, buttery etc), then your peas (mushy, minted etc) and then your liquor ( not booze but gravy!) I went for chicken with garlic mash, minted peas and red wine gravy with a red wine 🍷 and hardly had anything else to eat all day! Daz was happy with his choice and as they use Wylam Brewery over the moon with his pint of neck oil!

I was in here yrs ago with a mate, walking down one of the corridors and someone/thing crossed in front of me, I wasn’t really paying attention, going to the toilet I was assuming. When I got to the end of the corridor I looked left to see if that was indeed where the toilets were, it was a dead end, nothing there.. I told the barman when I got to the bar and he said the staff see and hear weird stuff all the time!!!! Proper spooky. Apart from that the beers and pie and mash are Incred…

Love this place after an infrequent visit to the in-laws. Interesting building, which is a bit of a maze, having the feel of a cellar at the back. Always have pie and mash. A couple of years ago, I recall you could get two pies at a discounted price, but that has stopped. They are fairly small, but the mash/peas/liquor make it an enjoyable meal. Being dog friendly is important for us, and you can reserve a table now (which I think is new this year). This is much better, as has always been popular when we visit. The atmosphere is pleasant as not too loud, although the bar area can get crowded.

The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.
