Coffee tastes fine £4.50 for an oat flat white is horrendously expensive considering it’s just ‘not bad’ Nice cafe though, good atmosphere, and a solid brunch menu which isn’t always easy to find. But better coffee nearby for cheaper.

Good for a quick bite. We see many customers doing their work here. Coffee is good. It was after 2pm, so we could not order from their menu as the kitchen was closed. So we chose whatever was available at the display counter.

Tasteless banana bread, cold milk in coffee made it tepid. Toilets well below average with a dirty toilet unblocker at rear of the toilet. Won’t be back.

In a part of London with a massive number of cafes, this one doesn’t make it into the top half. My coffee was fine, but the service was slow (to be fair to the staff it gets very busy) but my order was got wrong the first time. The garden at the back is lovely, though not the most accessible if you have mobility issues

Great coffee, lovely cakes, poor management/service. Each time I’ve given this place a try, the drinks have only been ready long after I’ve finished eating, and I’ve had to remind them that I’m still waiting for drinks.

A great little spot in pretty Bloomsbury where you can sit outside and people watch with the finest coffee and some delectable sweet treats! The WiFi is strong with this one too 👌🏽 💻

Good to very good coffee. Excellent chunky cut (and filled) sandwiches. Crowded, and noisy in parts with sound bouncing off bare walls. Poor acoustic.

Their coffee isn’t gluten free- it’s really frustrating as a coeliac when naturally gluten free ingredients such as coffee beans are contaminated during processing. It seems so unnecessary.

The coffee here is great. The staff is nice. The pastries are average compared to what is available around. The food.. I guess it depends on the chef’s mood that day. Usually order the sourdough with butter/jam and each time the size/ number of sourdough slices is different ranging from 2 mini pieces of bread to sometimes 3 huge ones. Some consistency would be good.

Coffee was great, service was perfunctory at best. I'd suggest they rename it "FU COFFEE" 😉

Food was borderline inedible - hollandaise sauce smelt off had to send back as was gagging, poached eggs were hard and tasted of nothing but vinegar. Don't go here if you're just wanting brunch.

Great place with a good mission. Prices are quite high - £10 for a flat white and a small square of carrot cake.

A nice spot to grab a coffee and study/work in Angel. Especially the ambiance of the back garden is great. Still, I expect the staff to be more friendly and welcoming.

Nice coffee in a beautiful space. An iced latte was an astonishing £5 though which is ludicrous. Guy serving us was kinda rude and wouldn't consistently speak at an intelligible volume.

RR is ok for a quick coffee but I think it has three main issues. 1 (and most important) the staff are pretty rude. They never smile or act friendly towards you. With every customer facing job, you have to try a bit. 2- Uncomfortable seats. 3- Food is average and overpriced. Whoever is in charge, I'd really work on making your staff friendly and pleasant, they're currently cold and make the experience off putting.

I really enjoy this place. They do great coffee, it’s a lovely place to sit in and read a book, and I love that they help to rehabilitate ex-offenders (what a fantastic cause!). But it gets a star taken off because they charge extra for oat milk, which I think is a shame.

The coffee is excellent. However it is expensive but that is the price you pay in this part of London. Have not tried the food. The atmosphere is really nice too with great interior and garden and also great staff.

Removed from my favorites. Service is really bad, they bring you food without cutlery and if you ask for it, they’ll tell you go get it yourself. Used to be a nice place but became pretentious. Also extremely overpriced.

Coffee was good just a little on the small size. Quick service and very pleasant spot to chat downstairs out back in their garden.

I don't understand why this place has such poor reviews, we went yesterday and the staff were lovely, particularly the lady who brought our eggs from the kitchen! Great coffee and pastries also a choice of cooked breakfasts. For the person who said it has no table service, its a coffee shop! Beautiful secret basement downstairs that makes you feel like you're in some ancient Greek temple. Definitely will be back!

Went here as my wife had a class nearby and we were early. Ordered a couple of coffees which were quite expensive for the size and also it's self service so we had to sit down then wait for your name to be called out and then go and get your order. My coffee was bitter and luke warm so I asked for another coffee and explained it was Luke warm to which I got a look of disbelief. The next coffee was still bitter and my wife had a croissant with cheese and tomato which was just OK. The chairs are like school chairs very uncomfortable and you cannot really sit down for a long time. The toilet was not very clean and there was a hint of urine smell there was also no hand-wash and I had to come out and ask someone for hand-wash and when they came back I was told someone had stolen thier hand-wash bottle and never offered to get any soap from their kitchen. Loads of better options in the area and I for one won't be going back.

Disappointed on the size of coffee and prices. Over priced. 4.5 for a single oat flat white. Size of the cup was milky macchiano Cup/double espresso. Price is 4.00 for coffee + 0.5 for oat? 4 pounds for coffee should include any milk. This is a place who still charging extra for oat. Almost anybody does now day after prices went up. I'm not gonna come back. Good quality. Nice environment. But over priced.

shocking service. £16 for 2 coffees and pastries and then wait for it to b ready in a very tight overcrowded area to take it your table yourself. particularly tricky for a single customer negotiating their way to find an empty table with bags, coffee and a plate. wont be back

I love the ethos (helping to reduce reoffending in the UK). The coffees are decent but the sandwiches / pastries are overpriced for the quality. Unfortunately had an underwhelming hot cross bun on Easter weekend! The garden in the back is lovely though 🌿

Tried their *SALT BEEF SANDWICH* (£7.50) ; it's the perfect match for my shoe leather salad. Chew-tastic & inedible. Staff must have never tried it themselves. EDIT: Came back for the Avocado Toast brunch on Easter Weekend and it was excellent this time.

We decided to have a stop for a coffee and a pastry. We ordered an espresso and a cortado and that was not looking good. See pictures attached. The service was below average, no teaspoons given with the drink. 5 people behind the bar and the tables were dirty. We had two almond croissants and it was the most empty pastry I’ve ever tasted. Doesn’t worth it guys , wouldn’t recommend at all.

Fun place, Just off the busy high street. Really great and friendly staff, with very speedy delivery of coffee and food. There serve brunch till 4pm and have lots of tasty treats to eat (vegan&gluton free too). Cheap and tasty coffee. They have a garden access as well as being able to sit at the front of the shop (outside) They also have free WiFi

4.40 for an iced Americano decaf??? Are we serious??? So a double espresso + 3 ice cubes + tap water = 4.40??? Re think your pricing!!! Great coffee though 😛 EDIT after the reply below: I know that decaf is 0.5 extra, I do understand that. But I will challenge you to this; according to your menu online, double espresso is 2.8 + 0.5 decaf = 3.3. How does the price soar to 4.4? If you know math, this is a 33.3% increase in price, for what? some ice-cubes and tap water? It doesn't make sense to me, but this is my opinion.. Edit: they do have nice downstairs inner garden kind of thing which is pretty cool

Just THE BEST coffee, great social purpose proposition too and staff are always friendly. It’s a busy spot so get there early if you want to pick a table. (top tip- the basement has a great area for more quiet working)

I came in on a Monday afternoon to do some work and really liked it! The coffee was great, the espresso shot was perfect, the salt beef sandwich was good as a lunch, and all in all the atmosphere was very welcoming to working! Although there are barely any plugs in the zone when you enter, but there is a lovely garden and quite a bit of space if you’re not there for work! The baristas were lovely too :) Overall, I’d definitely come back.

I come here often and I’m generally happy with the service, but I had bad customer service this past Saturday. The barista, male and wearing a cap, didn’t bother asking me if I wanted a to go or not for my tea, then when I asked for a to go he says to me ‘well you didn’t say that in the first place’, and his general demeanour was SO off. Wasn’t even that busy to say he was rushed off his feet

Visited the cafe this week, the cute brunette at the till provided a warming service. Her customer service skills were commendable as the cafe was super busy.

I came the other day to grab a coffee and a quick bite before heading to work and there was a long queue as expected. I don’t remember the name of the girl who served me, but she was brunette and had a welcoming smile. Good coffee and great staff!

Great independent coffee shop, with good quality and a vibrant Islington atmosphere. Service was very good for an extremely busy time of the day, but just a little fraught around the edges - as was finding a seat. Some signage suggested laptops shouldn't be used, and it felt a little rushed between this and the number of folks there. Decent vegan options, if nothing spectacular on that front.

Lovely cafe with a calm ambience, nice spot to work in the window for a couple of hours. The only downside is that the door often stays ajar, making it really cold for when you're sitting near the entrance.

Disgusting food, poached eggs came overcooked, bread was dry, halloumi all rubbery… service also is very poor, we waited a good 25 min before someone came to clear the cups left by previous customers (and they didn’t clean the table). Atmosphere is busy and loud, including laptops everywhere. Coffee is good but nothing special. You’ll find better options in the neighbourhood.

Spacious and unhurried cafe. Not the quickest for grab and go takeaway, but conversely they don’t rush you out if you’re having a relaxed chat. The outside benches are great too. Coffee is good and there’s a range of cakey-toastie food on offer.

Great venue, plenty of seats and a garden. People watching stools by the window. Takes coffee seriously, with two filter options. Had the Rwandan which was ok, a little too roasty for me. The pain au raisin was nice.

Popped in for brunch on a friend’s recommendation. Friendly , no fuss service, great coffee, and possibly the tastiest poached eggs on toast ever!

Visited the cafe for a coffee and a cake (late afternoon) and the service was offhand and rude, I asked about the size of the cups for the coffee and was told very abruptly it was paper cups because they were short staffed. Having accepted that, I was then astounded to be handed my two cakes in paper bags having spent nearly £10 on these. As there is plenty of choice in the Islington area I will not be coming back.

Coffee was alright but SO overpriced. Pophams down the road is 1£ cheaper for the same flat white which is saying something!

This used to be my go to cafe, I loved it early in the mornings however I have noticed in the past few months multiple price increases and significant enough for me to think it's not worth it, especially when it's self service now - they used to give you a number and bring it to you. The staff are constantly changing, a year ago there was a much friendlier happier atmosphere, you could chat, have a laugh and they knew my order before I even opened my mouth. Now it seems so transactional and cold. Even then knowing it was the more expensive cafe I didn't mind. But an oat flat white costing £4.50 now is just ludicrous.

First and last time visit. Coffee's fine, though nothing remarkable, served with an extra helping of attitude, disinterest and disdain.

Best eggs florentine in town. Sometimes quite crowded but worth it. Espresso great too. Pro-tip there is a whole downstairs seating and garden down in back, so always a table to be had.

I stopped by Redemption Roasters Islington a few times before to grab a coffee, which is undeniably very good quality. I went back today ( Sunday morning ) and whilst the coffee was lovely , the croissant I had was probably the worst I have ever had in a coffee shop to date. And for the price they charge, it was double disappointing ! It was extremely stale, hard and tasteless. I have serious doubts it was even baked on the day . It tasted more like a 3 days old croissant . I'm sorry to say that it was an expensive and terrible breakfast. I left half of it and had to go elsewhere for some food. 😕

For the prices you pay absolutely not worth it, nice staff but food and coffee are very mediocre. Many better options in the area!

I googled, “best study cafes in Islington” and was recommended this place as it was noted as “laptop and work friendly” however after finding a seat in their downstairs indoor garden section, and ordering, I was greeted with a sign that said “resist the urge to work, our WiFi is turned off on weekends” so this is not a work friendly cafe, but since I had already bought the drink and found a spot, I stayed my four hours and was quite productive in the bustling atmosphere. The coffee was nice but it is self service in terms of carrying your tea cup mug with latte art down a flight of stairs. I’ll definitely give another try but just a warning to my fellow students out there as midterms and finals approach, you might want to take your studies elsewhere.

£3.80 for a flat white. No service to bring it to the table. There was a flat white that had been sitting there for a while, and the barista looked at me and said "flat white?" "There you go". Was pretty luke warm average coffee.

Was good food and drinks until the whoever's in charge of the Spotify playlist started blasting the TikTok songs.

Went for a coffee here few weeks ago. We sat in the garden since it was quite a warm afternoon. The drinks we had were really good.

I’ve been coming here for some time now and service was never anything special but today was just baaaad, walked in a blonde lady on the till staring at the till so I waited to order she then looked up and said ‘yeah’ I wasn’t expecting American customer service skills because apparently she was waiting for me to order just staring at the till, while taking my order and explaining my order and where my coffee to be collected she never made any eye contact or a 'thank you' 'please' which again isnt expected but her whole attitude was bad. also the table i sat on wasn't cleaned for days and the eggs on toast for £9 looked comical

Not the greatest experience. I wanted to find somewhere cosy to have a coffee and ready my book for half an hour. This was not the place!! I ordered a flat white which was pretty tepid, maybe my fault for not asking for a hot one, I asked them to change it which they did, but the second cup was not much different. But my main complaint was the staff. Not a “hello”, “thank you” or even a smile. I even thanked the young man for clearing my cup away - but still no response! I won’t be going back.

love this place so much !! such a cute garden and the bottom floor has such unique decoration. i love studying there or just going there for a lovely afternoon snack. very quiet, there s wifi. i recommend their raspberry white chocolate muffin. their staff is so so nice too 🥺 i will say its not cheap but if ur looking for an aesthetic coffee shop this is it!

Lovely place but please serve drinks in actual mugs! Lovely place to sit and work, I go here a lot with my laptop and it has a nice atmosphere. I will say though that paying £3.80 for a very small coffee in a paper cup is a bit of a liberty. I got given a paper takeaway cup the first time and thought it was odd so this time I even asked if I could have it in a mug as I was sitting in and the man behind the till told me they are only doing takeaway cups at the moment, even though I could see mugs on the side and there were other people around me with mugs lol. Might sound petty but I just feel like having your coffee in a mug is a basic requirement in a cafe. It also feels like needless waste. If I wanted a paper cup I would go to Costa. It’s a shame because as I said, lovely place

The coffee was pretty good. Unfortunately the pastries were truly terrible. You can buy better at the CO OP for a third of the price. I bought a pan au chocolate - it was soft and stale. At around £3, they sell you a soft and stale pastry? I literally threw both pastries in the bin on the way home after taking one bite. The other was for a friend - I decided that also had to be binned as I would not wish it on anyone. They reminded me of a shop bought packet of 8 pan au chocolats in a plastic wrapper with a 3 month shelf life due to all the chemicals they pump into them to keep 'fresh'. I wish I had gone back and demanded a refund. If I had just tried the coffee I would have given 4 * - as I wasted around £6 on two pastries that were truly disgusting they get 2 stars as they should not be selling them. Who ever is in charge of that really should have a rethink. I will never go back again.

Not great... Using the "Too Good to Go" app I purchased a sandwich, got home and there was mold on the underside bread of the sandwich. I know it should be last moment as food is going, but this is too last moment. Please consider the timings a little more carefully and not to push that hard on the limits of food going bad.

The toast was disappointing. Neither was the coffee. The staff was available but didn't clean up the cup left by previous guest on the table until I left . Several tables are same, not clean.

Delicious Cortado! Coffee was smooth and strong. The milk was spot on too. Good temp, balanced acid. Loved it.

Redemption Roasters is verrassend veelzijdig op allerlei manieren. Rustig luchtig binnen zitten én je kan ook beneden artistiek cosy & intiem zitten. De tuin is ook fijn intiem en je kan ook bedekt zitten. Het is erg licht binnen wat je niet altijd ziet in Londen. En uiteraard, mijn warme getoaste broodje zalm was heerlijk!

Food: avocado on sourdough, eggs benedict and salmon & cream cheese bagel Coffee: cappuccino and ice mocha Food was all right, not amazing, which I have to be honest is a quite disappointing for the price. However, the eggs benedict was perfect!! I would give that dish 5/5 stars. Would come back once in a while just for this dish, even though it’s priced at £12. Drinks were okay too. There is an outdoor space downstairs but the tables and chairs are quite old.

Lovely staff and decent prices for the area with a great vibe! Had a cinnamon bun which was slightly chewy and oily on the bottom but still not bad! Coffee was great!
