John Salt in Islington

Ordered for delivery a best of both worlds meal deal and a pastrami steak box. Turned up stond cold and the pastrami in the combo was miniscule compared with the other. Considering it cost 24 pounds for a single burger chips and a tiny little piece of pastrami I feel ripped off and disappointed. Wont be returning.

Brought a group of 30 for Halloween as part of a pub crawl. Despite ringing in advance to confirm happy hour, they strategically removed the offer as soon as we arrived, despite another half an hour to go. Hope you enjoyed the additional revenue, but definitely won't be returning.

Lee was the best bartender, took such good care of us, really brilliant!!! Defo will be coming again!

I had 15 minutes to kill before a Show at the assembly rooms and just strolled in for a beer and to sit outside watching the world go by, good, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent cocktails prepared by Lee, 10/10, we had a passion fruit martini and it was lovely, I recommend this place, that also had a 2x1 offer!

Celebrated my 25th birthday here and had the best time. From the moment I asked for the reservation till the end of my day, I was very well looked after. We took part in the bottomless brunch. Food was very tasty and the bar staff made sure our glasses were never empty. Had the best time and would definitely recommend it!

Lovely ambience, good service..New menu from yesterday. Cod and triple cooked chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Classic burger with curly fries. Maybe a little more seasoning but good.

My friend had a birthday party at The John Salt. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. It was refreshing to see that they catered to all dietary requirements. Looking forward to my next visit.

Lovely place. Went there with me wife and kids for brunch. Food was spectacular and the environment was great! Even the kids had a blast runnin around and poking innocent fun with the lovely staff! Not to mention, the drinks were lovely too! Would highly recommend, cant wait to visit again!

Came here with my mates a few weeks ago because we saw online they had happy hour, however we didn’t realise the post was 3 years old until the lady manager Kindly showed us. Although this was a disappointment they offered us a discount due to the inconvenience which was appreciated and seated us at a great table. The staff were amazing

Good grief, this place is a mess. Staff busy with earphones in and shocked to see bar staff putting nozzles on beer pumps without washing hands first. Wobbly tables so we split our drinks but manageress not even slightly interested. She told me is should have asked what beers were on tap after I ordered a bottle as the beer I ordered was not coming out after 10 minutes. Avoid.

A rather nice venue with a mezzanine and bar upstairs definitely not pretentious but rather down to earth. The downstairs area is fairly spacious and able to double as a dancefloor too. They have good seating as well as several large TV monitors. The bar staff were all very friendly and efficient and the drinks are reasonably priced. They have a small indoor uncovered terrace doubles as a smoking area. I attended on a Saturday night when they also had a DJ on the ground floor playing a mixture of Club Classics, Dance and Pop. An enjoyable night was had by us all. Certainly a place to visit with friends on a night out.

Came to John Salt a few weeks ago to watch the Euro semi finals England match. Out of all the pubs I visited during that time, this proved to be the best. They followed Covid rules, the pub wasn't overcrowded and the service was speedy. I remember a woman called Jamilla who really went above and beyond to make our experience great. She frequently checked in on us and made great recommendations for food and drink which we loved. We had a lovely chat with her and she even gave us some great suggestions of places we could go to after! Couldn't recommend this place more for watching sports or for a drink and food with friends.

Not a fan of pubs in general but found this one surprisingly pleasant. The staff seemed keen and enthusiastic and were running around during the football, when the place was full, efficiently getting everyone drinks and snacks and serving them with a smile

It’s debatable if they deserve even one star. There are barely 10 customers in the pub and the staff is barely moving. Service is so slow. If you ever come here make sure you’re ordering x2 because they’re not coming back to you to take your order on time for sure! Waited for a pint for 15 mins and again there was barely 10 customers including us! Ordered a burger without tomato and onion, luckily they remembered no tomato part! When we said we ordered without tomato&onion they said “on the till it’s only no tomato” maybe you should learn how to listen ? Instead of changing they said it is what it is! So professional(!) Definitely not worth your time and/or money to waste in here!

Came here with a bunch of mates who all work in hospitality. We waited ages for our drinks despite there only being about 4 or 5 tables seated, food with special dietary requests were delivered with the offending item still on it, and after asking for our second round of drinks, after 15 minutes we eventually complained after watching the two bar staff members having a chat behind the bar before saying that they forgot to ring the drinks through. When we pointed all these issues out, the manager got passive aggressive with us and stated that we needed to consider the fact that there were only two staff members working at the time. Management needs a rethink on how they manage their staff, their floor service and how they deal with complaints.

Really please to find this in Upper Street. The burgers are super tasty and side portions are big, which is a bonus! They offer gluten free buns (really rare and massively appreciated) and have vegan options for all their burgers. A top hit that would please anyone. Staff were very friendly too and the space looks very cool and trendy. Definitely recommend!

Worst espresso martini I’ve ever had. Not sure how they managed to get it so wrong... maybe they forgot the coffee?

Right in the heart of London. Easily accessible with just a short walk from either Angel or Highbury and Islington. The staff are excellent at keeping up covid standards and so friendly. Large quantities of food for the price u pay and competitive priced drinks. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Really friendly welcome is always a good start, Antony was clearly delighted to be having customers again! They do a great burger, although a vegan option on the menu too which my friend had and also said was good. Casual atmosphere, spacious and will be back to watch the Euros here on the big screen. I didn’t try a cocktail, but they looked well made and a varied selection of beers on tap.

Went for a few drinks with friends over the weekend- food was good and the waiting staff were very approachable & friendly. However, the manager was extremely rude to his staff and dismissive of customers. The cocktails were also over priced and watered down. Wouldn’t go back if under the same management!

Average food and average cocktails - on a wet december you'd expect this place to be busy but no atmosphere and you can see why.

We popped in here yesterday for a quick drink and we really liked it , I had a margarita cocktail (£10) and thoroughly enjoyed it , my partner had a cappuccino (£4) and said it was one of the best he's had. Staff were friendly. Definitely recommend a visit.

Staff are amazing Hassan was fantastic. Service was more than friendly. Would definitely recommend coming here for a bev if you're in the area. Jordan gave me a really warm welcome and as I was my myself was very friendly and we had a great conversation. Can not recommend this place enough.

I love this place- I've been coming here for years. It's got such a great atmosphere and it's just a fun and easy place to come for a drink. The staff are always friendly and they have great drinks- the espresso martini is a personal favourite!

Hungry for lunch & roomy interior appealed Hassan was entertainer, waiter & most helpful. Tasty veggie burger with delicious crispy, chunky chips. Was treated like a VIP, loved it. Nice spacious bright upper level conducive for groups of friends meeting. I'll be back... Oh, I was treated to homemade fudge made by the chef & special offer atm: no vat to pay. Big tnks 😀

Super cool bar with great food and drink. The friendly staff help make a chilled, vibrant atmosphere. A friend and I ordered what we thought was a side (chips and dips) but turned out to be big enough to share as a meal, plus it was really tasty and inexpensive.

Good selection of drinks but never really has much atmosphere

Went there for after lunch with friends for chill and they play nice relaxing music drinks are no that expensive and place was impressively huge ... Bar had a variety of choices ... Overall i wouldn't order food but i will try to go there in the weekend they staff says there live gigs and dj in weekend ...

Had an amazing night, Thursday night felt like a Friday.. cocktails were delicious I love the salted caramel martini! And thanks to all the staff for a great night and the manager Hasan for making us all feel so welcome.

The Team at The John Salt absolutely smashed it for us! They were super-helpful and attentive throughout the booking process and on the night too. It was our work Christmas party and they really made it special for us. The food was absolutely delicious and they did an excellent job of catering for a wide range of dietary requirements. The feedback from everyone at my company has been that it was our best ever Christmas party! Highly recommend this place for a function or even just for a drink and some great food at a fab location.

It was an amazing new year Eve party the music on point

I went to John Salt for New Year's Eve and I found the experience a little bit unspectacular. It started off well with the mezzanine bar being served with two members of staff who were friendly. But then, one of the staff left to work downstairs leaving the other member of staff to serve what seemed like 100 or so people. (Although this can be excused somewhat by the fact that its NYE, so naturally it will be busy). The queuing system was atrocious, it seemed that you had to wait some 20-25 minutes before actually being served and when we did get served two problems arose: Firstly, the card reader stopped working which meant I had to go back and forth to see if the transaction could be made and secondly, when I bought two of the fellow guests at this party two lemonades, they complained that it didn't taste of lemonade, it turned out that it was soda water and that the lemonade function had run out. So I had to swap for two Coca-Colas instead. To make matters worse, a decision was made to close the mezzanine bar at around 10.30pm, which meant that guests had to walk downstairs to be served, meaning we would have to wait even longer to buy drinks which was near impossible given the huge throng people already attending the event. The other complaint was that even before 9pm, the music was blasting loudly and it made conversation really hard. I'm not sure if I will go back to this bar in future, definitely not for NYE though.

I hired the mezzanie last night for a NYE Party, i aimed to bring 100 people but by the end of the night my friends brought there friends and we had nearly 300 in the whole venue partying till 2am. I have to thank Jordon the event manager and his awesome team who just pulled out the strings and threw the best nye prty.

Absolutely wonderful bar, extremely well run with really friendly and helpful staff! Planning my event was effortless with Jordan taking care of all details and Jamie and the team running out flawlessly on the evening. Nothing was a problem, they were super attentive, helpful and kind despite it being the last Saturday before Christmas and very busy! Food came out on time and was delicious enjoyed by all guests. Was very surprised just how nice and easy going a plush bar in Upper Street could be, but this was it! Would definitely plan another event here in future. Highly recommend.

Been here a few times. The staff are very helpful. On busy nights if there is a confusion with orders they are very accommodating. The music is on the loud side of conversational and the atmosphere is good. I would say this bar is good for the 28+ age range. Cocktails are delish and strong

I found John Salt to be a nice place, with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was tasty and plentiful in it's portions.

Mondays you'll be some of the only ones there and they're great. Good prices too.

Was here for a private party and then continued downstairs in the main bar! The music was on point and danced all the way till the end of the night...wicked DJ, not heard him before but would definitely go to his nights again!

I came here on Sunday 1st December 2019 for ATL Rapper Translee's listening party - I love Upper Street, and was a little bit embarrassed to say that I'd never been in John Salt before... This trendy unique bar was right up my street - The place itself was very spacious and dimly lit which provided the perfect ambience for the event I was attending. The staff were really polite and friendly, there was a very chill relaxed vibe in this joint. Whilst everyone was mingling the tunes were on point! I ordered the La Vie En Rose cocktail which was delish and came with raspberries *yum* Thank you for your service and my complimentary cocktail - I will definitely be returning here for cocktails and referring my industry friends this space for hire <3

Really nice place to go for a drink. Really spacious place, lots of loos. They have a 2 for 1 cocktail during the week. Our bartender Eva, was absolutely lovely. We also had the spicy chips with garlic dip. They were nice. I had the whiskey maple cocktail. Was delicious! My other half had a pint of Guinness. Said it was great. They also have nice background music, not too intrusive if trying to have a conversation. Haven’t eaten a full meal yet but after the chips- they’re good. I’d be keen to try the food.

Y una vez que nos llegó, no fue genial y bastante seco (hamburguesas). No volvería para una experiencia gastronómica.

Had a terrible experience at this pub watching the rugby World Cup final. I ordered a John Salt breakfast place at 9:15 and I did not come out until after 11. The plate that came out, however, was missing half of the things that were listed on the menu. I had to send it back to the kitchen. The waiter apologized for it and comped my meal. There was also a gentleman sitting upstairs and smoking cigarettes. When people asked to staff to do something about it, they opened the windows and ignored any further requests to deal with him.

We are 2 people in the bar and you can't even say hello. Crafty

Really poor service, another bar short of staff. Took 1 hr for food. Only two people behind the bar on a sat night. Its not rocket science to think sat will be busy.
