Good bits and some parts were a bit lacking . Great chow mein, crispy beef and duck . The ribs were in a slightly odd sauce (bbq ) and some the flavourings were odd but maybe just different to my local Chinese. Don’t be put off by the reviews was still. Enjoyable and was good value for money.

In reality 0 star as our meal was terrible. I have not left the toilet all morning ,my partner is the same Food tasteless and bland only eat it because we were hungry and it cost so much. Please ,please don’t go there .

We had sweet and sour chicken and chicken with plum sauce. Both were disgusting and inedible. Stay clear, a waste of money

AMAZING. There was a young boy behind the counter who was lovely to speak to and was very entertaining. The food was served muy rapido and still boiling hot. The food was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend going here. Will be coming back, especially if that boy called Tom is there!

Ordered a selection of dishes - Mini veg rolls, king prawn chow mein, chicken with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, crispy fried shredded beef and egg fried rice. All the food tasted great. Service was very quick. The owners seemed very friendly.

I sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style and some sides. The chicken pieces were thin strips, dry and chewy. It was ok but didn't compare well with other places. Perhaps it was on off night. One of the sides was chips and there were also dry It was ok but no better than that and I probably wouldn't return in a hurry

I threw away the whole takeaway tonight. The chicken in the curry was fine but the curry itself tasted like it was days old. The egg fried rice was oily and the deep fried onion rings were dripping in dark, greasy oil. I won't be going there again.

Don't know if it's because they were busy last night but it was the worst salt and chilli chicken I've ever had in my life and bad stomach all night. It was cooked that much the chicken had disintegrated and all was left was powder inside. Been poorly all night and I'm on holiday in a camper van which is not good.

Takeaway £28 for very dry chicken , cold chips and sweet n sour chicken all batter , ate one and fed the rest of tiny bits of chicken to the cats Prices gone up and getting less Rubbish

A good quality Chinese. Recommended. Well presented. Good value. Good portion size. We ordered the meal for three and there was more than enough for 4 ! 3 great size pancake rolls plus a good variety of dishes. I would return without hesitation.

Well priced. Great tasting. Friendly staff. What more do you want. The phone was engaged for a while, not a bad thing, but once we got through it was quickly prepared and ready when advised. Will use again.

We went for a sit-in meal tonight. Staff were so helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our food and the cultural and authentic environment. Great vegetarian menu too.

We bought a takeaway for the first time from here tonight - the chap behind the desk was helpful, i was able to request no onion with no problem at all, and the food was prepared quickly. Large portions, very tasty and genuinely one of the nicest chinese takeaways we have had - will definitely be back

I first moved into St.Just area in 2009 and found this takeaway, when I phoned them and asked if they use MGS I was told that they never use any MSG so I don't know what that reviewer in 2013 is talking about! I have bought meals from here on average about once a month for the last 11 years and not once have I been given sub-standard food, in fact I've had chineese takeaways from all over London, Surry and Berkshire and none of them were as good as the Red Star in St.Just. I will continue getting my takeaway from here for as long as I live in the area.

What a takeaway! Doesn't look a lot from the outside tucked away in St Just side street; but what lush food and plenty of it for your money. Very tasty and the pancake rolls are something else. Don't miss it if you want a nosh down west.

We don't normally have takeaways but we're visiting on holiday for my birthday. Decide to have a Chinese, rang up and ordered, 10 minute wait. Able to park close to pick up, they only take cash which I didn't realise but the cash point by the post office is close by. Reasobably priced and very tasty.

Visited this humble takeaway 3 times this last year and it has pleased us each time. The meals have an individual homemade spin to them and the vegetables are fresh with a crunch. Each time our order has been quickly cooked in less than 5 minutes. Especially recommend the vermicelli Singapore- very tasty and nicely spiced and the pancake rolls which are huge, juicy, bursting with flavour and not at all greasy. We always request 'no extra added salt'. Service is friendly and efficient. Good value. Well done.

We discovered this little take away by chance and it was so good that we retured a few nights later. Delicious and great value/service. Highly recommend!

Staying on a local campsite and after eating healthy salads and a bbq we decided to visit this takeaway. I’m very pleased that we did. The fried chilli beef was very tasty. Beef green pepper was cooked well so that the meat was soft. Vegetable chow mien enjoyed by my daughter. Chips and fried rice also good. Highly recommend.

we got a take away from here whist in the area for a family wedding. Order was ready extremely quickly and the food was really tasty. Enjoyed by us all and excellent value.

We’re staying in a bungalow 5 mins away on holiday. we phoned it through, it was ready when I got there less then 5 mins. Very quick and polite service. We ordered meal for 2 as it was myself and my mum. We went with the pancake roll. Witch was huge lol. Their was to much food for us both, shame my son doesn’t eat it, but we’re not big eaters although I think it would have done 3 of us. It was very delicious still hot. Would definitely go back again but I think we would order meal for one and share it. Very cheap prices. The only thing mum didn’t like was the curry sauce as she said it was a bit to peppery. Otherwise can’t fault it.

Since the new owners have taken over we have enjoyed the food . It is always nice and friendly service and I especially like chicken or duck in plum sauce and the chicken and sweetcorn soup .

We ordered 7 items and they were equally nice - I had roast duck in pineapple, which was delicious. I also ordered beansprouts which was a generous portion (a tub-full). We also had prawn crackers which came with sweet and sour sauce, and spring rolls were good. We went into the take-away to order and the staff were friendly, and despite being a busy evening our food was ready in good time.

We had a lovely meal. We opted for the set meal for 2 and then added a couple of dishes as there were 3 of us. Plenty to eat and very tasty. I rang the order through and it was ready and waiting by the time I got there. Great service

Really enjoyed our takeaway. This was our first visit and won’t be our last. Singapore vermicelli was particularly nice. Fast service and polite. Open kitchen so no doubting the cleanliness. Thank you enjoyed our dinner.

Was staying in Pendeen for the weekend and had a Chinese the Saturday! My god it was that great me and my partner didn’t say a word to each other while we ate!!! Was so lovely! Crispy chilli beef was the best I’ve had!

Thank you Red Star for delicious food that was cooked to order. All allergies were understood and catered for, with every ingredient being checked. The pancake roll and Singapore noodles were some of the best we’ve tasted.

Stayed in a nearby cottage, phoned the order through and was told 10 minutes, when I arrived had to queue to collect and was very busy despite being early(good sign)

We were staying in Sennen Cove and phoned through our order after picking up menus earlier. The food was tasty and probably the best we have had for a while. Remember it is a takeaway and no delivery.

Ordered and collected food a couple of evening back. It was cooked within 10 mins and once unboxed at home it was very tasty indeed. Would definitely use this Chinese again, fair value also.

We stopped by for a takeout while stopping in Cape Cornwall and ordered the meal for one to share between the two of us. Our order consisted of chicken and sweetcorn soup, sweet and sour pork balls, Cantonese beef, rice, chips and prawn crackers. The food was hot and delicious, and the portion size was huge - there was more than enough to feed the two of us!!The shop was very clean, staff friendly, and prices reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Quick service, food ok, good quantity, easy and cheap, kids happy, job done. No delivery, this could be a major selling point, perhaps 2mile radius . Try it an easy alternative to cooking

A perfect take out for the local camping traveller! Cheap and cheerful- with a wide selection on the menu. We ordered the special fried rice, which had generous quantities of pork, shrimps and chicken (I would recommend sauce on the side- as it is quite rich) and the chicken balls- which were tasty large strips of chicken in batter with sweet and sour sauce.

We treated our selves to a chinese on our first night staying close by, its a good little takeaway that did our favorite dishes. Friendly staff , clean and tidy premises.

We purchased 4 items, the Singapore vermicelli was good but overly hot compared to others, Sweet and sour king prawns were lovely, chips were extremely bland, no salt and a pasty texture, and a pancake roll that needed to be dipped in sweet and sour sauce to give flavour.Cost was a little more than I have paid in other Cornwall venues.There was a good choice on the menu and if I returned I would use again with a different selection as there is no other local Chinese take away.

Great food. Nice and clean, you can watch whilst they make it. We had the roast pork fried rice, lemon chicken, shredded duck, soft noodles curry sauce, and a few other things.Overall very nice, will visit again

Had takeaway on a sunday night what was suppose to be the star of the show the chicken was not nice dont know how they cook it but resembled boiled chicken not stir fried .

On holiday in Sennen Cove for a week so tryed the Chinese in St Just. (Couldn’t be bothered to go out or cook.) Fabulous idea. A lovely meal cooked quickly. Very tasty, good size portions, plesent service. All in all well worth the visit. Only criticism would be to much onion in the beef satay but that could be just a personal thing.

Good value. Big portions. Clean. Been several times and not had a bad meal. Recommended. Closed on Tuesdays.

Got take out after travelling down from Gloucestershire for our mid week break, food was excellent, very ample and delicious, the sweet and sour chicken balls with the sweet and sour sauce was divine. The whole meal was just yummy.

Just got our dinner from here as off on holiday tomorrow, so a treat. Beautiful food, really tasty. Only complaint is there was too much to finish! The chilli beef is to die for. Not expensive either. Best Chinese we've had.

Listen right. I've got a real fussy wife, who knows her Chinese cuisine and quite frankly after reading a couple of negative reviews I was panicking. However we have just had a lovely takeaway from here. It beat our regular Chinese hands down. The salt and chilli ribs, prawn toast, hot and sour soup and special chow mein were delicious. We would highly recommend a meal from here and quite probably will be back for another next week. If not then, well the very next time we visit Cornwall next year.

Words just can't explain how awful our meals were from this place. Certainly unedible they were. Supposed chicken curry and satay. Chicken it certainly wasn't. I dread to think what it could have been! Certainly not anything identifiable. Mushed up fatty slimeIf I wasn't on holiday I would have taken it to trading standards to get it analysed. They should be shut down for serving up this stuff

On holiday in St Just and tried for the first rime. Friendly service and superb king prawn curry and king prawn with ginger and spring onion. Would highly recommend.

Rang though & ordered a take away, told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Get there within 5 minutes & wait at the counter for nearly 10 minutes not one member of staff acknowledged me being there! So left without it! Terrible customer service! Been going there for years but will not go back!

Best salted crispy chilly chicken I've ever had and I've tryed many different Chinese takeaways.. try it dipped in sweet and sour sauce . lovely helpfull staff

Good variety of food, always prompt service although it may be worth phoning first on a Friday or a Saturday night when it is busy. To be clear, this is a takeaway only establishment and they don't currently offer a delivery service. Their food is fairly good value for money, especially the set meals, and they are happy to accommodate any changes to dishes. Overall, well worth a try.

Frequently used by many in St Just. Rarely disappointed, fast reliable service including phone orders but no delivery service.last nights meal of special Foo Young, egg fried rice and Special curry with boiled rice was exemplary. Reasonable prices,well worth a visit.

Half way through our autumn one-week break, we had somewhat over-indulged in pasties and fish and chips. The Red Star provided a welcome alternative choice and we very much enjoyed the generous meal for one between us; there is however a tempting and comprehensive menu to choose from. Staff were friendly and waiting time was reasonable.

Meal excellent as was service. Staff very friendly. Allow dogs into bar area. Only downside parking near by very limited other than that no complaints.

Absolutely disgusting , I couldn't even tell you what meat they used it was meant to be chicken but didn't look or taste at all like chicken ! We had chicken in black bean sauce and chicken satay both of which went straight in the bin ! Rice was dry , I certainly don't recommend !!

A typical Chinese takeaway in the heart of St. Just. The food is what you would expect from your local Chinese and as it is the only one between Penzance and Lands end - I think - it gets very busy. Good food though.

This place is located on one of the side streets in St Just. The selection was very good and the service was quick as well. If you are in need of a quick meal, this is a useful place to bear in mind.

The Red Star is only a couple of hundred yards up the road from us and we have a take-away about once or twice a month.We are never disappointed.'Nuff said!

The food from this take - away is excellent. The staff are friendly too. I can't rate them highly enough. You must try the spare ribs.

Don't know where bad reviews have come from. This is a buzzy takeaway, lots of locals coming in and out. Quality of food excellent and served with a smile! Plenty in the portions too!

We had a takeaway on Thursday and it was very nice. The amount of people going in there it carnt all be bad. We had sweet and sour chicken and yung chow fried and a pancake roll which was all nice and tasty. We will go back.

we have just had a chinese takeaway from this establishment it was absolutely disgusting the worst chinese meal i have had in my life and i am in my late 60s so i have had quite a few the char siu pork was flat pieces of meat (leather) and tough as old boots the same with the sweet and sour pork the chop suey was just a mix of mush and the pancake rolls had another load of tasteless mush inside the roast duck and chicken with beansprouts my wife and i left because it tasted bad all in all just ghastly i do not know if i can give it no rating whatsoever because i want to whatever you do i advise not to use it it used to be pretty good but we had not tried it for a long time and thought it would make a change a very bad mistake never ever again dave

We had a range of meals from this take away, they all were absolutely loaded with what the Chinese call salt. which is the flavour enhancer MG. I do not recommend this take away and if you do eat a meal make sure you have plenty of bottles of water, because you will need them.
