Great food . Definitely going back

I do love my local Chinese takeaway...but my hope is that they start to expand their menu, as it's a your traditional British Chinese takeout which is tasty but after viewing many social media sites there are items I'd love to indulge in if they were added...ex: various Ramen made with a meaty broth large Udon noodles meats veg and egg, soup pork dumplings and Wontons..it's time to branch out guys 🤤☺️

Squid, prawns and whatever meat we had from RO always cooked to perfection.

Nice family ran Chinese take out ,,phone orders taken but unfortunately no delivery service,,cash only aswell

There opening times are literally lies

Gone hungry a few times now as opening times aren't accurate on their own menu (opening hours listed here are pure fantasy)

The lady behind the counter was lovely and friendly, welcoming.

The service is not very good and they are not the cleanest

Chips was full of grease and was limp and floppy tasted like eating pure oil and the battered sausage wasn’t even crispy was disgusting

I've had a great experience coming here both for chips and for Chinese. I have found the staff to be very nice and ordering over the phone was as easy (if not more so) than any other place I've ordered from.

Excellent BEEF CHOW-MAIN & curry sauce with prawn crackers. You can’t beat this local Chinese chippy . Great staff fast service & very popular takeaway restaurant in Hartcliffe & Withywood. There not currently taking card payments at the moment so make sure you take cash yeah . You won’t get better food in this area I travel a long way just to get food from the Red Onion. Awesome food , I give give it 5 stars .

Lovely people! And great food! There salt and chilli chicken is delicious! They recently updated there forks that are available for a small fee also, There much stronger, Which is much appreciated! Especially as I like to eat on the fly! :)

Take aways are expensive, but this place seems reasonable, quality of food is OK could be improved , on my last order it wasn't very nice ,

We popped down today for our first try od the red onions food, we ordered 1x cheesy chips, with curry sauce, and one large chips with a large battered sausage, the chips were very nice, loved the curry sauce and a good amount of cheese on the chips, my partner can be fussy with chip shops battered sausages but he really enjoyed tonights food, will definitly come back again!

Diner and lunch the hygene is really good and the food is nice aswell

Since the new owners took over the portion sizes are tiny and not worth the money I no longer use

I grew with this being my local takeaway. I used to grab a lunchtime special whilst studying at Withywood Community School 20 years ago, this was a regular stop on my home fron the local pub in my late teens and even visited occasionally when I moved away from the area. The staff are very friendly and great at communicating. The menu is vast and the quality always leaves me satisfied. My brother always asks "Shall we get a Rrd Onion?" When we comes to visit south Bristol. The food and overall experience always brings us back.

Gone downhill recently the food was very stodgy

Its clean. Food is lush, except the sweet and sour sauce as it's too runny and not much flavour. Can be pricey for what you get. Brilliant chip shop though.

Shop was very clean and tidy and the staff were lovely and friendly. Me and my partner ordered chips which were perfect. Saw a picture of sweet and sour chicken on the wall and it looked amazing so we ordered that and some curry sauce too. Had to laugh when we saw the sweet and sour because it was just finger shaped chicken balls and a cup of sweet and sour sauce. The curry sauce left a lot to be desired too as it had a thick layer of oil over the top. That being said the food tasted good and was made to order so nice and hot. Good value for money as long as you dont mind assembling your sweet and sour by yourself. Would definitely buy from here again but maybe I'll just stick to chips next time..

I've heard a lot about this place. I treated myself to a Chinese takeaway from here recently. The shop itself is very clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. As for the food. Well it was by far the best Chinese takeaway I have had. There was so much food I was struggling to eat it all. Will definitely go there again.
