Just moved to Conisbrough and took visiting family for Sunday lunch. Pub is possibly the cleanest I've ever been in. Food was amazing, all fresh and cooked on the day. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. Pub has lovely atmosphere which encourages no mobiles etc to talk. We did break the rule to capture a selfie with the bar skeleton as it was really nicely decorated for Halloween. Mum wants to move here now!

Sunday lunch was excellent today, sorry didn’t take photos as I forgot but we had the large option with roast beef, mash, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding, served with a little jug of gravy. Sarah and her team are lovely and doing a fab job breathing life into this village pub 👍🏻

Great Sunday lunch. The food was cooked really well and the staff were lovely and attentive with service to the table rather than a carvery. We thought we d ordered the larger plates but we had nt but the portion size was more than enough we thought just over £80 for Sunday lunch and drinks for 7 adults was outrageously good value for money Will definitely return for Sunday lunch and to try the weekly menu.

The pub no longer does food and you can only pay with cash! It appears unloved and on its last legs, with limited offerings. Atmosphere was non existent. It’s on a large plot and would not be surprised if it was knocked down and site redeveloped. We will not return.

Went for a few drinks with local friends only to shouted at by the bar staff across from the room ‘ oh, get off you phone, it’s not allowed’...... now, if there we’re visable signs telling us this, we may have known. We were not using our phone to call and shout on a call, I was being shown pictures of her son travelling Europe. On the second occasion the so called ‘Land lady’, again shouted across the room ‘get off your phone, you have been told already’. Now if only the bar staff had a little decorum and came over to ask her to get off her phone she would have been told she was on call for her job. A little altercation occurred between my friend, who is on call, and the ‘alleged land lady’ occurred where my friend was accused of being aggressive towards the bar staff and it’s on camera. We then asked where the signs were where, that we are being filmed in accordance with GDPR 2016. I then asked why the guys at the bar were allowed to use their phones, while we, as customers, were singled out. We were then asked to leave and that our drinks would be taken away from us, where I then pointed out that we had bought them and that is illegal.. I’m not going to go into any more fact regarding this antiquated, old fashioned, outdated, pub. The staff need to learn how to respect their customers, realise when there’re singling out customers. Avoid this place plague, no doubt a pub where you’d be accused of sitting in someone’s seat as they always sit there...... The hills have eyes..

The beer was fine; best in the area by a mile. too many pubs nowadays have poor product from new(ish) microbreweries because they are cheaper & the established brews have been elbowed for a higher percentage return. the advent of the so-called craft brews whilst vogue does not adequately replace the older established 'proper' brews

Went there for a Christmas drink on Christmas Eve. Once at about1500hrs and the other at about 1930hrs. The afternoon it was packed, which was nice, the evening not so busy. I must say on both occasions the staff were great, service spot on - However, always too hot n stuffy in there, they either need some windows open an inch or so or make use of the 2 huge fans on the wall to circulate some air. It's a sign when condensation starts running down the windows, as it was on both accordions, that some fresh air is needed... apart form that a friendly local pub.

A pint of Sam Smiths stout costs only 2.30 a pint. Very good. There's no music here. The atmosphere is very friendly. The Sunday dinner is great. It was 6.50 Pounds and we were stuffed. Lots of veg. a Yorkshire pud and a choice of chicken pork or beef as the meat. It is usually packed on a Sunday lunchtime so it's wise to book in advance

This pub is like stepping back to the seventies. Cheap very good beer, ok, good value grub, but the opening hours are ridiculous. No cooling ale on a hot summers afternoon, no thirst quencher before home on a Friday evening, just 1970's opening hours, so closed from 3 until 7. Every night. The landlord blames the brewery, but I have been in Sam Smiths pubs in late afternoon before. They throw you out at 11.00pm too. As I said, very 70's, but then, so are the clientele. Food is Ok but the stop serving at 8.30 or so. Best for drinking really.

We dropped in here after a tea-time shop on an impulse. I was half expecting a bit of a Microwave meal but I was totally wrong. The food was delicious - freshly cooked and beautifully presented. I had Gammon and it came as a thick steak with a free range egg on top - wow. Did I mention the home-made chunky chips in a basket - wow x 2. My wife's meal was equally delicious and they were both great value for money (as was the beer!).

Went with the family - despite there being quite a few of us all the meals arrived at the same time, were good quality, piggy sized portions all served nice and hot - everyone really enjoyed them. I had the chicken and ham pie which was lovely. Such a pleasant change too to have real homemade chips and freshly cooked vegetables in a pub. It's a Sam Smith's so nice additive free ales to force yourself into drinking - the organic fruit beer was fabulous and nice to see its still brewed in Yorkshire stone squares. Very reasonably priced all round and friendly service - can't fault the place!

We picked out the Red Lion from tripadvisor reports to meet my son and partner being half way between our houses. It is a traditional built early 20c pub that does meals, Sunday lunch etc. We were warmly welcomed into the smallish dining room that is part of a much larger pub. It was fairly full of folk having a drink and locals taking lunch. By the time we sat down we were the only ones eating but we got such lovely homely service from the lady who even knew my son was a veggie eater as they had remembered from my booking call. The lunch was a down to earth no frills Sunday lunch and for the price good value. The puddings were generous and tasty too.

I hadn't set foot in this pub for 30 years until today. Based on another recent review it must be a trend. There was a time I was a regular before my 18th birthday-oh those halcyon pre-id days when all you had was "how old are you son?, to which the answer was always "18"!

Had Sunday lunch recently. It was very tasty and great value for money with plenty on the plate. The atmosphere in the pub is very welcoming and the staff are very friendly. We sat in the restaurant side which is quieter rather than the pub lounge which is a good size but was rather busy at the time we were eating lunch. Well worth the money and would certainly recommend. There is a menu for during the week which did have a wide choice.

Whilst in Rotherham today, had a look on tripadvisor for somewhere for Sunday lunch. Saw The Red Lion at Conisbrough had good reports, rang the pub to check food was being served, a friendly lady ( who turned out to be Jackie, the landlady, told us meal times, and details of the Sunday lunch. The pub is a large building on the main road with good car parking. The pub was packed with drinkers, but found room to sit in the dining room. My wife had the beef Sunday lunch, which was excellent, and well priced at £ 4.95. I had the Steak and Sam Smith's Ale pie, also lovely. They have a very large selection of Sam Smith's own Ale, spirits, lager etc. A pint of bitter will cost you £ 1.80, for our Southern readers that is not a mistake, yes, £ 1.80 a pint.

Thought we would give this place a go as recently moved to nearby Conisbrough. Started off very well being shown to our table on arrival and our drinks order taken at same time. When drinks arrived we were asked whether we had decided our mains, which we had, so order placed with the lady serving. The mains arrived very quickly and the food was absolutely lovely, could not fault it. Our table was cleared quickly after our mains and then it went downhill. This is the second time in a short space of time at two different eateries where we have waited and waited to be offered a dessert menu. The lady that cleared our mains should perhaps have offered a dessert menu, but did not, straightaway this puts us on warning that we will not get a dessert for a second time. After some time it did appear we had been forgotten so decided to just pay for what we had and left. Why is it that so many establishments fall down on desserts, I could easily name three places where we have left before getting a dessert menu. Big shame! We have since dined here again and everything was spot on. The food was as good as ever, and we had a dessert.🤣 Service really quick and warrants 5 stars on this visit. Thank you.
