Worst Sunday roast I have ever had... For a restaurant that used to have Michelin star, it was overpriced, tiny and the Yorkshire pudding was shameful.... Service, not good....the place and location are great though..

We waited quite some time for our meal, I would understand if the restaurant was busy but there were only 3 other tables occupied When the food eventually arrived, it was not very appetising. Sorry to say we will not be returning.

Nice food with decent food. The fish cake starter was delicious. The Sunday roast was lovely although I wasn't a fan of the carrot and swede mash, for me it was a bit bland and the Yorkshire pudding was a bit oily, hence knocking off 1 star.

My second visit for a meal at this lovely pub/restaurant, really pleased good food, atmosphere & friendly service and the best "blue cheese sauce" for my perfect cooked steak

We went for my 40th Birthday following some good reviews but unfortunately we had a very poor experience. It was a busy friday so i expect a slower service but our first drinks took 45 mins to arrive, even after asking after 30mins, then the kitchen forgot our starters all together and went straight to mains which arrived over an hour after we ordered, then the Eton mess arrived for dessert but it was just a massive dollop of overwhipped split cream with some meringue shards. The Waiters were excellent considering what they had to work with and we weren't charged for any food as an apology which was much appreciated.

Good food and attentive staff. Our egg intolerance was no problem for the chef, who made changes to ingredients to ensure everyone enjoyed the great food.

Absolutely Fantastic, only question is why haven't you been here yet, please do check it out, you will struggle to beat this place, staff and locals very welcoming, food is excellent, easy five stars throughout, our visit was grill night Wednesday.

It was an amazing meal for our Party of 8 for Boxing Day lunch. Food was to a high standard and staff friendly also happy to help. Great service from booking to finish. Would recommend to family and friends.

We had a lovely family meal, but when booking it was not made clear that there was no seasonal menu, which we were looking forward to! What we ordered was excellent, we will definitely return!

Fabulous bar snacks, friendly service. We will be back.

Used to be a great spot , visited weekly. Removed Guinness from the selection so as a group we do not visit any longer. Shame - had many a great night previously.

Very poor' bad services very slow' cheff on a go slow'its ok if you got time to spare' cost very high for what you get ' would not go again 'if your thinking of going dont not worth it

This is a lovely pub and nice staff. But there were a few problems with the food. My wife went for the veggie burger. Unfortunately 3 items were missing, the slaw, pickle and the mayonnaise. But the burger was basically a Linda McCartney burger and not at all what we would expect. We were given a refund for the meal, thank you, but you really need to think about your veggie customers.

We popped for some lunch last weekend and had delicious sandwiches. The fillings were very generous and it was lovely to sit in their clean, well kept garden in the sun. The food was so nice we decided to book in for a Sunday lunch and took my partners grandparents. The food was again absolutely delicious and the service was quick and very attentive. The pub was clean and had a lovely, cosy, country feel to it. We will definitely be returning again.

The main was good. Pudding was a bit disappointing. Service was ok.

A beautiful, traditional village pub, in the middle of a lovely little village. It has lost a LITTLE bit of its really, really old charm over the years, as it's been turned in to more of an eating place than a real traditional pub. It does still have lots of character though and the changes are sympathetic. The staff are brilliant. Very attentive and friendly. The food is also excellent. Well cooked and well presented. Definitely recommend.

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at The Red Lion it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm & inviting, the service was faultless & the 3 courses we had were fantastic. We will definitely be back. Thankyou

Have eaten here on several occasions. Great staff , food and beer.

After visiting Penkridge market followed the signs for the pub down and round many lanes, only to find you were not open. After walking round my husband found a member of staff, then saw an A frame folded out of view saying open at 5.30.pm.lights on in the pub and saw a member of staff inside who ignored me after trying the door. Very disappointing.

Stopped there for a drink, very pleasant. Will certainly eat there in future.

I literally cannot recommend this pub any more. Staff are kind, courteous and attentive.. they pay attention to any special requests you leave on the booking.. the pub is absolutely beautifully decorated & maintained (studying interior design at degree level I can vouch for this) 😜 it’s fitting to the nature of the building and really gives a warm, cosy, country vibe with a little bit of quirk. The music was chilled and not too loud.. but enough to emit a vibe.. this paired with the calming effect of warm-white lighting through strategically placed lamps created a truly relaxing atmosphere. We went on the Wednesday 2 for £36 Grill Night which included a bottle of (really tasty) wine, 2 mains and the bread starter. I feel there could have been two slices of bread each but that’s a minor thing and the mains came out pretty quickly. I also didn’t know the fish would be battered but that may have been something I overlooked from the menu. Nonetheless, the whole thing was absolutely delicious. I just wish I’d have had the room for some desert!!! I will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you so much ☺️ 🙏🏻

Lovely place unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for the food which there was no communication on. The front of house did come over and apologise and recognise that the full price shouldn't be paid, so that was appreciated. Perhaps just need to update customers that there is a bit of delay on service for that evening.

We had our Bambies Monday walking groups Christmas Dinner there 😋 the whole experience was bit wonderful 😋 food and staff were lovely x thinking of having a lunch there for my 70th birthday soon x

Our first visit to the red lion and we went for lunch and it did no disappoint . Josiah who served us was extremely nice and friendly . The pub we were told is 17 century and it is absolutely stunning with a lovely modern extension , wooden beams and flooring everywhere, and roaring log burner , and a small selection of board games aswell . My Mrs had the curried parsnip soup which she said was way to spicy 😅 but I thought it was lovely , especially as I hate parsnips . The burger and was very nice indeed but the chicken goujon baget was a disappointment , all processed not fillets . 100% recommend to all

A little noisy for a Sunday lunch, staff were very friendly, food was a little underwhelming to be honest.

Found this lovely spot when trying to find the best Sunday diner at a half way point to meet family. The Sunday diner did not disappoint, well presented, super tasty and everything was perfection!! Highly recommend and would return. Server's were all great and nothing was a problem. However, total honesty, the starters and desserts for some members of the party were nothing special and disappointing versus the mains. Pate to start x2 didn't come with enough bread, and risotto x2 were both luke warm. Desserts, x2 of us opted for apple crumble and the custard was basically hot milk, the consistency was not even close to custard and there was zero taste, also the crumble itself was far too sweet and was more like a pot of apple puree with a sprinkle of crumble. This said, we would all return just for mains as it really was fab. Decor is a lovely warm country pub and bustling with character and charm.

Great food at not unreasonable prices with a nice combination of classic pub food and more unusual dishes. Some of the dishes were adequate but not huge portions on their own so worth asking if side orders are needed if you are a big eater or not going for starters or puds.

It's great to have such a quality pub and restaurant in our village. Service and meals always good.

A modern "rustic" bar-restaurant serving good but unexceptional food to a relatively eldery clientele. We went on a Saturday night and found the place surprisingly empty and atmosphere less. The food was tasty, and well presented, but in miserly portions, and the service, while courteous, was somewhat inattentive. The parking is good. I don't understand why some reviews describe this as a traditional country pub, it's nothing of the sort

Six of us had a roast lunch today. Pork and gravy were beautiful but the meagre portions of pork made it very disappointing. Not enough veg for 6 of us so had to ask for more. The portions of beef were good but it was rather tough I’m afraid. A few of us had a chocolate brownie but one was brought out still frozen and rock hard! All in all I doubt we will come back……shame as other Sunday lunches here have been better. Service was okay.

Top shelf quality staff, accompanied with best food ever, a pleasure to dine 2 nights on the trot, amazing 👏.

Lovely meal in a beautiful traditional country pub. The staff were very professional a d attentive, not pushy and all meals arrived promptly.

We went on the Wednesday Grill Night. Two meals and a bottle of wine for £30. Good food and good value.

We had Sunday lunch today at the Red Lion it was cooked to perfection all four of us enjoyed our meal. It was hot and well presented with a wide variety of vegetables and roast potatoes. The dessert was equally excellent I would thoroughly recommend the Crumble. We couldn’t fault the whole experience. We have been before and it still remains a high quality restaurant.

Very tasty food with a good variety on the menu. Staff service excellent, very attentive and regular checks to ensure everything was all OK with our group even though it was relatively busy. If going recommend booking to avoid disappointment

Food is a notch above standard pub grub. The low ceiling in the main eating area serves to make the restaurant a very noisy place during busy periods. There are quieter eating niches, but these are quickly taken by the regulars.

Lovely Sunday lunch with excellent service.

Dined at The Red Lion recently and I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough! The food was incredible, the best for miles around. The duck breast main was delicious and the side of roasted beetroots were divine. Service and ambiance was also great. I will be telling everyone I know to visit The Red Lion and will definitely be returning soon!

Just had Sunday lunch with my Son and his girlfriend at The Red Lion, it was absolutely stunning. Wonderful welcome from the gentleman at the bar. The food was amazing, it was beautufully cooked and presented. Will definitely return

We had dinner at the Red Lion to celebrate my daughters Graduation and I have to say I could not find fault with the service or food. Sofie was excellent her customer service was faultless nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent especially the Apple Crumble! Compliments to the Chefs. I am reliably told that everything is prepared and cooked on site nothing is bought in! Looking forward to the next visit!

Sunday Lunch at the Red Lion Bradley!!! My opinion give it a miss !! Overpriced and underwhelming to say the least 1 Yorkshire pudding 2 "hard" roast potatoes 2 slices of beef (not great) A metal dish containing a few carrots green beans and I think cabbage I think the chef needs to revisit the menu never again !!service not that great either

The meal was great however there is no lunch menu so it was too much really as it was a dinner . Staff was a bit confused and in dressed in black which looked rather grim in the already dark pub.
