We came here for food the Tuesday curry and pint night. I can say it's like going back in time when my grandad used to take us to the pub with him. We had a curry for all of us no options just chicken. The curry was served very bland like a flavoured broth rather than a curry. The pub in general was very dated and food not so good maybe just ok for a quick pint

I love the food, but was a bit disappointed when food came this time and no mint sauce for the popadoms whatsoever, mint sauce is one of my favourite parts!

I am a pub goer, and a foodie, I visit thousands of pubs and restaurants every year, here is my honest review of The Red Lion, Bilston Road, Wolverhampton Only put 1 star because that’s the minimum! Not a good experience at all, dead flies all over the floor in the main bar, looked like the area had been sprayed with fly killer which obviously killed the flies but they were just left and not cleaned up, we could hear the crunch under our feet! Toilets were dirty, smelly, and bits of tissue in the corners of the walls in the mens as if people had thrown them wet and they stuck, brown marks on the walls of the cubicle in the gents too, looked like excrement that had been there for years! Overall opinion, well I think you can work it out! Not a nice place to go!

Best Vegan chicken curry I’ve had. Food was piping hot and delicious. Fresh tasty naan bread and delicious vegan options

I always go to the Red Lion as it’s a fantastic Bar/Grill. I had a delivery for a change today and as always the food is 10/10 perfect. Delicious!

Food very good nice and hot reasonable prices

Tarka lamb chops abit too much tarka and mutter paneer was very creamy due to the sauce. Rest of the dishes - chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, rice, chips, fish pakora, chilli chips were lovely.

Haven't been here for years but what a delightful return. A good old fashioned pub feel - smoky fire smell and it was packed with a really lovely class of people. The food was typical pub grub but of a high standard. The icing on the cake was the range of cocktails and all served by a very easy on the eye ex-Gonzo barman who was a dreamboat.

I paid for my order And my son paid for it cash And the delivery driver took the money How do I get my money back Paid twice £42 please look into this for me.

Went to the red lion, on Bilston road Wolverhampton for a birthday party, looks small from outside, but bars & function room, it is deceiving. Traditional Indian food served buffet style, with plenty of food to choose from & accompements. Self service but if you request anything it appears in a flash. Great atmosphere. Top party. 🎁🎈👍

The red lion has a family friendly atmosphere it's a really clean astablisment the food is all cooked fresh has a great menu and does take away but you have to pick up which is definitely worth the journey

Was there for a 40th birthday party. The food was amazing, and so was the service. If it was not for the party, the atmosphere would have been dull. There seemed to be a lot of junk just lingering around the hallway from the bar to the function room. The function room was amazingly decorated, but the bar seemed sabby and just thrown together. All in all, great food and good beer.

Easily one of the most affordable and best mixed grills I’ve had in Wolverhampton. The pub is small and warm with a nice community spirit. Very friendly staff and top class food! Will definitely be returning

Our first visit to the Red Lion. Order our drinks at the bar then went to find a seat. Plenty of seating areas. Lots of choices on the menu. Order our food at the hatch and wasn't long before our food arrived. We both enjoyed our meals.

Phoned them as the other venue we were at would not serve food. So glad we went there. They have outdoor marquee... We had a variety of food and drinks. Great service and not rushed.. Certainly recommend as food was tasty.

Whether I eat on site or have a takeaway the food never fails. I have eaten in many places and have to say this is one of the best. The tandoori fish I had today was amazing and succulent.

Family of 4 went here at 6pm for a meal. Staff were friendly and food part is run separately from the pub. We had 4 great meals, lamb saag was £7, regular mixed grill £8, large mixed grill £12, kebab wrap £5, naam bread £1! Great value, all the meat was cooked to perfection with large portions. Will return but maybe eat in the extension at the back of the pub as when we left the pub was getting rather busy.

The Red Lion (on the corner of Cable Street & Bilston Road) is an excellent pub! A family owned and run proper pub, rare to find these days, great beer, lovely food, and the Tuesday deal of home cooked curry & rice, with a pint, for £5.99 is without doubt the best value in not just Wolverhampton, but the country I would say! The family recipe is many years old and secret, for a very good reason! It's awesome! Try it!

Old bar has not changed much over the years is very dark inside and a bit of a maze. Feels like your walking into a house with the layout at the front entrance.

Decent food for kids event. Little bit of a maze layout, but staff are friendly amd the beer is definitely chilled.

We visited Red Lion Bilston Road on a Saturday for a friends family party, we enjoyed a fantastic 3 course buffet and the staff were all great, we will be back for a meal soon.

Booked the function room at this place for my parents bday party. I can't have asked for a better venue. The owner was amazing! I didn't once hear no to any request, very accommodating and just very kind to everyone of our guests. Food was just lovely.. complements from all of our guests. Would highly recommend to everyone and will be back for our next event. THANK YOU!

The food here is much better than most of the wolverhampton dhesi style pubs everyone goes on about. Looks are a bit off putting but they have a half decent fuction room so you can take the family

Recently came up to see friends in Wolverhampton and they took us to the red lion for dinner.. we had the mixed grill to start and the ordered a mixture of curry’s and sides.. the meal was lovely and reasonably priced.. definitely recommend this place for a nice meal and would return next time we visit.

It is a nice pub with nice food. The main issue is that if you want to have a party with max 50 people, the parking space is not sufficient. It can handle about 10/15 cars max. For anything else, really good pub and would go again! One of the best chef so far in there!
