New Spice Restaurant in Wolverhampton

I have been visiting this restaurant for 30 years and Joseph and his team have always been brilliant. I always had “balti chicken tikka rognee saucy” which isn’t on the menu. Always perfect. Sadly Joseph has retired and sold up so I won’t be able to go back to my fave restaurant. It’s now closed. I want to wish Joe and his team all the best. Martin F

Visited this restaurant for the first time since the covid lockdowns. Staff appeared to remember us and were very friendly and obliging. Food, as always was first class. One of our group said his Sharegama (which he'd never tried before) was the best Curry he'd ever had. Will definitely be back again soon.

went with work for a leaving dinner I arrived 15 minutes later than everyone else thie rwere12 of us in total. upon sitting down the manager asked me for my order to which i told him i only wanted a plate of chips and he said if i was not eating i could not sit down.I told him do not now if he is deaf but i just ordered little did he know i was paying the bill for everyone .he is arrogant and rude

I've been coming to New Spice for absolutely years. I brought a friend here for the first time on a Thursday. Service was fantastic and the food was so good my friend has said he will definitely be coming back. It was probably the best tasting meal I've had in months! I recommend the chicken tikka on the grill.

Absolutely shocking service owner rude and obnoxious kicked us out before we celebrated the birthday girls birthday no cake nothing family before us complaining too shocking service over all never experienced anything like it

Sweet food not nice been there first time never again not fresh food all frozen only good thing is take your own drinks otherwise it’s not good starter was frozen and dry as a bone mains were sweet as a apple pie

I found this restaurant on Google maps so I taught I would like give it try,as soon as I walked through the door I was made to feel very welcome by the staff my starter arrived in good time and main meal was brought to me quite quickly food was piping hot and tasty and enjoyed every mouthfull highly recommend . Have visited this restaurant many times over many years. Visited the other weekend with family and friends.. It's a nice, clean, modern restaurant. The food has always been lovely and did not disappoint this time with a nice choice of meals and decent sized portions, the naan breads are so fresh and fluffy. The waiters are polite and friendly The only downside is that the toilets are at the top of a staircase and when its busy it always seems over the top loud.

Went to this restaurant tonight with a group of friends. The restaurant can't be bothered to obtain an alcohol licence and like many you bring your own alcohol. Unlike many restaurant which don't hold a licence to serve alcohol this restaurant makes it policy that you cannot take soft drinks to consume. Having been to many unlicensed restaurants across Wolverhampton I have never seen a no soft drinks policy. As the nominated driver I took a bottle of diet coke whilst my friends took wine and larger. The senior waiter was very rude and verbally abusive that I should be buying their soft drinks at £1.50 a time. This restaurant shows no regard for a responsible driver attitude and instead chooses to line the profits with RIP-off soft drinks. I think the police and the food licensing dept of the council should take action against nlicenced restaurants that operate such a RIP-off policy that penalised responsible drivers and non drinkers. On the food side of things it wasn't too bad but there is far better elsewhere in Wolverhampton. We will not be returning her and I will highlight this RIP-off policy to the council, the police and controlling councillors. If anyone is interested Kaptain Korma in Bradmore is a far better experience in food, staff and surroundings.

We went as a family last night and it was our first time ,as it was recommended by other people .Me and a family member ordered 2 pathias and when they came they tasted burnt ,so you could imagine we were disappointed so will be trying other places next time

My partner and I fancied a change as we live just outside wolves so decideded to take a chance here and we were glad we did. You take your own alcoholic drinks and can buy soft drinks at the restaurant if you don't want the water they bring you in a jug. We were half and hour early and despite being packed we were immediateley taken to a table. The decor is modern and with bright lighting which made a change from the usual I can actually see my food! The menu was extensive but we always order the same wherever we go, food was piping hot and had great flavour. Prices were a little higher than we normally pay but to be honest I felt this was justified as I think portion wise you get more, my curry was full of chicken I just about managed to eat it all and I shared rice and naan. My partner was equally as pleased with his meal he had dry chicken tika and was presented beautifully. The naan bread was really good probably the best I have had in a long while was so fluffy and tasty. The place was busy with diners coming through the door non stop but this did not affect the service, some might complain its too busy but that's surely a sign of a good restaurant I wouldn't trust a dead restaurant!

Our friends had suggested we go for a while, describing this amazing jalfrezi with cheese and it did NOT disappoint. Lots of flavour, great portion size with quick and friendly service. We have been a few times now and it’s consistently great, not to mention bringing our own drinks too! Definitely recommend

Six friends went to the New Spice tonight. The food was little short of excellent. The ‘Kataplana’ which I had was one of the most interesting curries I’ve ever had. A Portuguese/Goan fusion that’s not a Vindaloo? Who knew? Restaurant was almost empty so if I have one criticism it is that the waiters were almost too attentive, but that’s not really an issue. I’m happy to go back and eat there anytime.

New Spice is a truly amazing curry house. Food is fantastic, the owner and his team are always looking after people. You also can bring your own alcohol. The portions are big with low prices. I would recommend this place for any occasion like date, a meal out with family and friends, or even work do.

Attended a meal with a number of friends before attending a concert. Food was very tasty and really well cooked. Approximately 39 of us and still food left over! Would return when next in the area.

Went back to this restaurant for a change from our normal curry house. Wasn't disappointed, food and service still fantastic, We had a meal for 2 and it came to only £27, but remember to bring your own booze.

Came here on a Friday evening. My partner had forgot to reserve a table and left a voicemail for the restaurant who called back to confirm and the table was ready for us when we arrived. I thought this was great customer service. The waiters are very attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious and the lamb was some of the best I have had in a curry house, being tender and tasty. The dopiaza was delicious and full of flavour. They also made us masala chips which weren’t on the menu so again great customer service. It is bring your own alcohol as well. All in all it was a tasty meal set in a comfortable atmosphere. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

On the website this restaurant advertises a couple of times that the food is the finest and freshest. This is clearly not the case. We had tikka masala and shashlick. The meat in both was not fresh, it was warmed up. The chicken had that cold warmed up taste, I don’t like this. Was recommended but won’t be coming again. I really don’t like paying £13 for one dish when the meat is warmed up!! Sorry but that’s the truth!

If you’re looking for a pretty average curry house this place is OK for a casual dinner. I’m used to a higher standard of Indian food and found this food average at best. Dahl was very sloppy. Some of the food came out on plastic plates.

Arrived early evening, group of 5. We were going to the football and needed our food quite quickly. The staff knew this and duly obliged. The food was excellent and we were all very happy. The restaurant is NOT licensed to sell alcohol so take your own! They sell soft drinks so you can't take those.

Came with a large party & the food was mainly excellent. Mixed tandoori starter was underwhelming but mains & sides were very nice indeed. Service was ok bearing in mind we had a very large group of people. Meal was also very reasonably priced.

I eat here quite regularly and have never had a bad experience. The food is relly gooda nd the staff are really friendly and helpful, they will even cook you something that isnt on the menu if you want it.

Stumbled across this place when working in Wolverhampton. It was packed out with people. Service great, decor nice and simple, no dodgy music and just great tasting food with no fuss... and not too expensive either. Can see why it was packed.

Visited last Tuesday, the most recent of many visits to this great restaurant. A must-do when visiting the area to see friends. Great service and the twin curry options, which allow you to taste two quite different curries in the same meal are a fab idea. The only downside is the need to bring your own drink, which saves money but can be a little inconvenient.

Visited with the family - party of 10, for hubby’s birthday. It’s a regular haunt for the Stokes family celebrations when we are visiting relatives in Wolverhampton. Was thinking about trying another restaurant for a change but when you sit down and eat the food you remember why you always go back there. Staff as attentive as usual and one even looked after the baby for a while.

You must try the Sharigana hope i spelt it right it was beautiful and very filling and worth every penny reasonable priced menu and you take your own drink

Went to this restaurant on Friday 20th April 2018 with friends. Great food, very friendly staff and together with lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Food and service was great. Food was piping hot, full of flavour and my 10 year old son was so impressed he can’t wait to return! I have used this restaurant for years and would highly recommend, the staff are so friendly and the food is fantastic!! Enjoy!!

A last minute decision to eat before the Wolves game - we managed a 2 - 2 draw btw - left message on the restaurant ansaphone - and others - to book a table. Pleasantly surprised to get a rapid response from New Spice that decided our choice. Table ready on arrival 20 minutes later - well it was quiet at that point! However service was prompt staff friendly and pleasant without being intrusive. Food arrived swiftly giving us plenty of time to get to the match - did I say we struggled to a draw? Food was good I had lamb methi ghost for just about the right strength and spiciness for my palate, garlic nan enough for two people and very nice. Dopesn't have a drinks licence so bring your own - they supply glasses. Impressed with waiter who found customers reading glasses left on table on sprinted up street to return - I think we should sign him up as our winger! Overall good value for money and |I will return again - this time with a drink cheers! John

My son and I ate here before a concert at the nearby Civic Hall. We ordered two starters - I had the Reshmi Kebab and he had the Paneer Shashliq. We then ordered a Lamb Balti and a Lamb Garlic Bahar. We had these with a Peshwari Naan each. The staff were friendly but the two youngest members seemed as though they were just starting and had to defer to the oldest before making any decision. However, the food came quickly, and was absolutely piping hot and tasted so very good. The Reshmi Kebab as particularly well spiced and very mouthful burst with flavour. My main course was sensational and the sweet naan, drizzled with honey on top was simply sensational. I cannot speak too highly of the fabulous food we had at this restaurant. Price wise, this little lot cost me under £26 - sensational value for money. Highly recommended, and I would happily travel to Wolverhampton again, just to visit.

Hospitality vey good, and good service time. However food was spoilt by the fact that one of our party of 4 received partially raw chicken as part of his main. The staff were very apologetic and cancelled that meal from our bill. Myself and another member of the party had bad stomachs next day. We will not be returning any time soon.

One of the best indian meals I've ever had, lovely kemma nan with loads of meat in it, I had the lamb rogan josh brilliant. I also had a starter the chicken chat which to be honest was disappointing as it was just chicken with a sauce, with parsley and salad not like any other I've ever had. To be fair the waiter did offer me a pastry to go with it when I told him I wasn't happy with it. Thd bill was just under £52.00 for four of us. All in all an excellent meal. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Came in on a Saturday night - a bit of a quick decision, but seated very quickly and served promptly and politely.

Spotted this place by chance on a visit to Wolverhampton centre last week and was tempted in by the Balti designation. In truth, New Spice is far more that a Balti restaurant.My friend and I arrived shortly after opening time and so initially had the restaurant to ourselves. It is therefore difficult to assess the atmosphere and their ability to deliver food promptly when busy. I am happy to report that the food was fabulous. I had the Reshmi Kebab followed by Lahore Special with Palak Paneer and Keema Naan. It was all cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! It was also very reasonably priced. If I were to be critical, then I would say that the use of plastic serving dishes in some instances (e.g. Naan Bread) is a bit 'low rent' and the Wicker Back Chairs are a bit out of place with the rest of the decor. Other than that, no complaints. It is Bring Your Own (BYO) alcohol but be advised that you can't bring your own soft drinks as well. Great food. Nice staff. Easy to park nearby. No complaints. I will definitely be back for seconds!!

Visited one evening with a colleague for dinner after reviewing local restaurants. We had to walk to Sainsbury's to buy a beer as they don't have a licence. The gents running the restaurant were really nice and polite with some good banter. The food was ok, but that's about it. They do a good combination offer where you can order two half dishes. It was decent enough, but nothing to get excited about.

We have been coming to the Spice Ave and now New Spice for almost 20 years. The staff, service and food are all amazing and never fails to deliver . Great atmosphere and now matter how busy you always get a warm welcome, with the same first class service. Highly recommended.

Visited on a Sunday evening after watching Brassed Off at the Grand. Very good food with quite a varied menu. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was smart and clean. Couldn't find fault.

I've reviewed this place before and will do it again. The food here is always perfect, cooked really well, piping hot and very fresh. The staff are always very friendly and remember your face if you've been before. You walk in and instantly feel welcomed and relaxed. I've eaten here many times over many years and it's always consistently brilliant. The staff are excellent, always welcoming and friendly and offer a great service. New Spice offers the best curry going. The Sicilian Jalfrezi (lamb, hot) is fantastic and I'd recommend a naan with cheese as its stuffed in the middle and not on top...perfect!Be it a meal for as a couple or a large party they will always accommodate you and serve up a great dish.

Formally known as Spice Avenue, New Spice has the same charm and food as Spice Avenue and we love it. Honestly can't believe that there are any negative comments on here, having started eating here in my teens, now almost 30 I find the staff to be friendly and polite as they always were, the food to have maintained it's high standard and whenever in Wolves it is my go to place for a balti. Spice Avenue (now New Spice) has been so well thought of by all our friends and family over the years for Saturday night treats,, birthday meals etc that when we decided to keep to the festivities of our wedding going for an extra day we of course took 80+ guests to Spice Avenue, bring your own booze and fantastic food - what more can I say?

I love this place! I've been coming for 15 years and although I don't live locally anymore, I always make sure I visit when I get the chance. The service is brilliant and there's always a smile at the door :) Food is just as great as it was at the other location and everything I've tried on the menu has always been delicious - particularly love the garlic naan! Bring your own alcohol makes it an easy option before heading for a night out. All in all, an excellent curry house.

I have been coming here for years with my husband and friends. My mom.and dad have come over from spain for a few weeks and we decided to treat them to a meal out and as we love this place so much we just had to bring them. And they were very very happy with the result! The food is presented so beautifully, on lovely large white plates. The portion sizes are perfect just enough to satisfy you with you feeling like youre going to pop. The service is perfection. You arrive feeling like you have known them for years and they cant do enough for you. I would reccomend this place to anyone and everyone!! If you want good food with a great atmosphere come here without delay!!!!!!

Went for a family meal at the New Spice on Friday evening. The restaurant is clean and airy and the staff are fantastic. Always welcoming and attentive, nothing is too much trouble, and the food, as always was of excellent quality and the staff make the experience an enjoyable, chatting and laughing and joking with the customers. Looking forward to our next visit!

We were welcomed like family on arrival and shown to our seats. Staff were attentive and polite. Food was amazing. Individual preferences catered for without a fuss. Food piping hot and freshly prepared. Enough time allowed between courses. The environment is spotlessly clean and welcoming. Tables comfortably apart to allow uninterrupted conversation. Staff made us feel like VIPs.

We visited mid week for a meal and weren't disappointed. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a good selection on the menu and it's all reasonably priced. They also have a range of combination dishes which allows you to sample two different curries. Our meals came out promptly and were delicious. We will definitely be visiting again.Ps. The restaurant isn't licensed but there is a shop nearby that sells a selection of alcoholic drinks.

I have visited the restaurant a few times for a typical sit down meal and always had a pleasant meal. Namely; the food always cooked to a good standard and consistently (which is rare at some Asian establishments), attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere even when busy on a Friday night. This a BYOB place (Bring your Own Booze) so I always bring along my own alcohol for me and my wife.Last night I finished work and walked from the railway station to the restaurant for a takeaway. The staff again were very friendly and remembered me as always when I visit. I ordered and a short wait later (20 minutes) the food was ready.I recommend this restaurant as I am a person who is gastronomically sensitive and can say I have always enjoyed the curries from New Spice as they are fresh and not heavy or greasy. I will visit again.

Excellent and very friendly service, food was great and catered excellently for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian. Not from the local area, but felt very much at home here. Thanks to Abdul for making our visit very pleasurable

This restaurant is simply superb. Have now visited on a number of occasions. The high quality of the food never alters. I had the Chicken sag Vindaloo, which was probably the best I've ever tasted. This was accompanied by pilau rice and garlic nan. Both of which were excellent. A great menu and very attentive staff. Take your own alcoholic drinks and remember to book as very popular. Highly recommended!!

I agree with a number of reviews here. This is definitely one of our restaurants of choice in Wolverhampton. The food is consistently good and it would be difficult to find more attentive or friendly service anywhere. You always feel really welcome. On top of all that, the prices are more than reasonable and represent excellent value for money.

My family, friends and I have been eating at New Spice Avenue for as long as I can remember. In all those years at New spice whether catering for 2 or 22 I have never had a less than fantastic meal, the menu will cater for all, the portions are generous and the staff and service always brilliant. I love this place...and so will you.

I come to Wolverhampton with my partner for work every couple of months and every time we make sure we visit New Spice for food. The staff have even began to recognise us even though our trips are months apart. The service is impeccable, the staff are so friendly and make our visit so enjoyable. The quality of the food is some of the best I have ever had, so much care and time has gone into the food without having to wait ages for it. I love this place so much, I wish I lived closer to eat here more often. Please visit New Spice, you will not be disappointed!

What a great place, fantastic food, friendly staff, good atmosphere, value for money and I love the fact that you take your own drinks, one of several visits and will always come back the food is so good, we have also had take away's from here and they are just as tasty and well prepared.

Went for a meal here with a couple of people on a Monday night. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. They even put our beers in the fridge for us :)Only suggestion I would make is for them to have lower mood lighting in there as the lights are very full on and bright. Definitely eat here again and recommended.

Always our first choice for a curry in Wolverhampton. Booked a table for 9pm on a Saturday night, and actually felt like we had the table for the night as opposed to being hurried along. All good quality food (New Spice mix is excellent!) and the fact that you can take your own wine or beer is a real bonus. The prices are also very reasonable.Very busy at weekends but for good reason!

Excellent food, best curry and lovely naan. Staff were fantastic couldn't have asked for more. I had a combination of chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh, could not fault it.
