Fantastic visit on Saturday 28/05/2022. First off I didn’t realise the enormity of what we were asking ,20 of us adults and children rocked up at around 3 pm looking for food ,we were welcomed and we all ordered food and drinks ,think they had already had there lunchtime rush and were winding down then we turned up but there was no ,oh no what should we do . We were told to take our tables and then ordered our food ,which was fantastic the service was wonderful .most of the children ordered pizza ,my boys told me they were way better than any they had ever had from the takeaway . The beef was perfect . We stayed for a couple of hours and were made to feel so welcome .thank you red lion .we will return .but I promise to give some notice .

Another enjoyable visit to the Red Lion. Sue and staff were attentive, as usual. Sirloin steak and salmon cooked to perfection and the apricot creme brûlée was divine.

We visited on Sunday lunchtime. We hadn’t booked but the Manageress found us a table. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially Liv our waitress. We both had the roast beef dinner that was delicious! Definitely be returning soon.

Spent the afternoon here celebrating my daughter -in-laws birthday and it did not disappoint. Really tasty food, very fresh with extra gravy and condiments. Vegetables were well cooked to perfection. The Sunday roasts are superb and so are the desserts. Lovely service and a great welcome.

Arrived at 4.20 asked for a table for 2. We were told the kitchen had been very busy and could we wait until 5pm. Not a problem we said as long as we can have a starter. Yep they said and promptly served us the main at 5pm. Staff are amazing. The pub / restaurant is beautiful. Highly recommend.

Was in there a week ago, food was bland, service was diabolical, atmosphere abysmal, waiting for a drink at the bar ridiculous, seems to give priority to the food side and ignore customers who want a drink, very poorly managed.

We went here for Saturday lunch. The food and staff were amazing. The pub inside is remarkably big & well set out. There is an open fire which will be lovely when it's cold outside. The pub is very cosy and well worth a visit.

Took a walk from our campsite on a scorching hot day to the nearby village of Dodleston. The Red Lion provided a welcome oasis. We were warmly greeted and seated before be given our menus and drinks orders (Pint of bitter shandy to quench the thirst for me).Ordered a range of food from lunch and kids menu. All came promptly and was hot, everyone enjoyed and finished their meals before another drink and the hot trek back to the campsite. All in all a lovely visit with welcoming staff, good food and good drinks all at a reasonable price.

Went to Red Lion Dodleston for Sunday lunch, which was average because of a couple of little issues.Myself had the roast beef, which was very nice.My wife had the roast turkey, which was incomplete. ( no stuffing rapped in bacon). There was also not enough gravey for the size of meal. To which my wife had to go to the counter to ask for more, due to no staff checking if everything was ok. And to top it off, no extra gravey arrived.Other than that it was ok.

Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

Stumbled on this wonderful cafe as we were on our way home from a camping trip. The staff are incredibly friendly and were so welcoming and kind to my 5yo daughter. The food was amazing, we both had the breakfast and my daughter had a lunch box which she loved and I thought it was great value, when we went inside to pay we couldn't not buy one (or two) of the amazing cakes. So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.

Not religious at all but like other reviewers found this true OASIS when looking for refreshment in Chester Just great, lovely staff and clientele and great quality and value coffee and cakes... Interesting selection of books, gifts, cards etc Would use regularly if we lived locally Staff say they may have to relocate soon due to "commercial development of the site" Surely the Church which is not short of funds can provide an alternative venue for this wonderful place which probably does more for spreading the religious message than many more traditional churches etc...something in the Cathedral Precinct maybe?? Good luck to you all and God bless ( if it helps)
