Red Lion in Cotswold

Great service and excellent food. There was a group of us that they accommodated even though we were delayed. We gave pre orders and the service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal and said they would definitely come back. Beautiful setting by the river too. Just one comment was please can the choc brownie be served warm :-)

After our last visit/review Michelle and Joseph went out of their way to put things right. We caught the last bit of summer sun this evening with some pub grub and lovely view. The evening food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. (Esp the young lady but we didn’t catch her name!)

Not Disabled Friendly!!! Went to this establishment while in a six month recuperation in ICU sadly my condition has left me disabled with a very longterm trachea & with walking difficulties so now need a walking aid.We went to the bar and asked if they could bring our drinks out to us & the bar person refused she said no drinks are brought to the outside tables..Was very shocked with her reply especially after letting her know I have a disability and it's quite obvious I have a trachea in my throat!! We left the establishment & on the way out another bar lady offered but I felt so discriminated I left and went elsewhere..On the way out we witnessed staff taking out meals to the grass area where we were going to sit.

We’d read a couple of negative reviews so didn’t know what to expect. The service and food were amazing!! One of the young men took our food allergy very seriously and was really accommodating. The lamb burger was so tasty and the chunky chips were delicious, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The Cauliflower Cheese was creamy and peppery. And the location sat relaxing next to the river in the sun was perfect. Thank you very much.

Perfect spot by the river. Staff may be young but my God don't they work hard to make up from the lack of experience. The manager has done a great job with what they have available to them. The fish and chips were to die and was huge as well and had to have a brownie to top a great visit off 😄

Came for breakfast with my family and was met with a helpful team who were very welcoming. They were able to accommodate to our allergies, serving our meals in a matter of minutes. Fantastic service. Will definitely be coming again!

We come here quite often for drinks as it is a great location on the river. However we decided to eat here today. Firstly they only had the lunch menu and not the all day menu on which was fine just a very reduced option. We placed the order of a ham and mustard ciabatta and a prawn marie ciabatta and was told it would be a bit of a wait as they were quite busy again which was fine with the beautiful views. However after an hours wait they tried to deliver someone else’s meal to our table, then people were getting their food before us even though they ordered after. When we questioned this we were told our order must have got lost and they would make it now. Another 20 minutes passed, bearing in mind what we ordered. When it arrived it was a terrible. Dry cold ciabatta with a couple of slices of ham and 2 sachets of mustard on the side! They couldn’t even be bothered to put the mustard inside the ciabatta. The prawn marie wasn’t much better the thinnest layer scraped inside. I could have gone to a supermarket and russled up a much better lunch.

What a lovely setting on a perfect summer evening. The food was very good. We were a group of 5 friends & everyone enjoyed their meal. Very friendly staff & service was spot on . Definitely go back

Super lunch with great service sat by the river with our dogs. Very tasty burgers served with skinny fries - an enjoyable afternoon.

Menu states orders for meals close at 9pm. No they don’t. 8:25pm today with menus taken away. No excuses given just deal with it. Shame as the location is nice.

This pub is in a lovely spot by the side of a river and we were able to sit outside. Even though the place was extremely busy we were told there was no waiting time for food. Indeed the food arrived very quickly and was plentiful and tasty. My only complaint is that the only dish I really wanted was the one that they didn't have! My husband had fish and chips which he enjoyed but thought the batter was a bit greasy and our friend said had burgers which they really enjoyed. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and we would eat here again if in the area.

When back to the Red lion after several years away.It was a warm day so we sat outside, lovely setting by the river.It got very hot so went inside for some shade.This is when I saw the habits of the kichen staff.I went to the loo and was followed in by another gent i washed my hands and then dried them went out and was immediately followed by the same gent I asked why he hadn't wash he hands he said he had but I know that not to be true.So I watched where he went, yes you got it straight into the kitchen. I told this to my friend at the bar where the barmaid overheard what I'd said.She went and told her boss he made some story about there being sanitizer it the kitchen, but surely he already taken the germs into the kitchen.Regardless to say we didnt eat there.

Booked here for Father’s Day dinner. Table booking was easy over the phone polite friendly personable staff gave me a few options of times to choose from. When arrived on the day was promptly taken to our table and drinks order taken. Serving staff were friendly, patient polite and responsive. I had a roast beef dinner that was tip top, beef was tender, great portion. Nice big fat home made Yorkshire pudding with enough roasted potatoes and veg. My daughter had a burger and the patties were made from good Herefordshire beef, tasted gorgeous. We finished with a good pudding and paying bill was easy. Reasonably priced given the quality of food that excels what you get in carvery pubs nearby. I would definitely go back again, it’s got a nice atmosphere and the pub is in a fantastic location. My only niggle is I wasn’t asked if I could pay a gratuity fee as had no cash and would like to have tipped the fab staff.

Local reputation for great food and location. Did not disappoint at all. Speciality cod and chips absolutely gorgeous. Variety of 7 adult meals and drinks all served promptly and courteously. Vegan option pretty good apart from maybe butter used wasn’t vegan. Would have sat outside apart from hay fever sufferers. Great recommendations and will definitely be going again. Early evening, midweek and fairly busy so weekend guess really busy. Would recommend booking.

Can never work out if this place is ever worth a repeat visit. Nice and clean and tidy and well looked after pub. Food is slightly over priced for what it is, although its very good quality. Beers are ok in quality and selection. Friendly staff.
