My partner & I ‘treated’ ourselves to a takeaway from Red Indigo. The good was edible but the worst Indian food weve eaten. We had prawn bhuna & chicken jalfrezi. Both meals were watery, tasteless & barely spiced. The food was not hot despite the restaurant being minutes from our cottage. Terrible food, complete waste of money - don’t bother. Tomatitos do fabulous tapas & Origin pizza is delicious if you’re looking for good food in Hay.

Excellent food and reasonably quickly served, even though we had been warned on arrival that they were short-staffed. We had the Saag Paneer and Peshwari curry mains, and both were plentiful and tasty, and very different from each other.

Fabulous food, the staff are very friendly, we love this place and eat here often. If you're in Hay give Red Indigo a try, you won't be disappointed.

Third visit whilst on our holidays and each visit gets better. Great friendly service where we are remembered making the visit more fun. A few of us requested traditional dishes with extra spices which was not a problem. Great evening - thank you.

Delicious food. We had the chicken tikka, rice and garlic naan and it was delicious. We will definitely be returning for more!

Probably the worst Indian I’ve ever had. Food was terrible. Service was just as bad. Just poor all round. Very disappointed

Just don’t go. We visited this restaurant 8 years ago and thought it was great. Fast forward to 2024 and we were excited to return. “Disappointment” is a too soft a word to use . The food was shockingly bad. Service was slow but you can look past that if the food is good, but the food was horrendous. The menu is huge which in hindsight should have been a red flashing light. We ordered some starters which were okay but the main dish - chicken tikka masala - was appallingly sweet. It tasted like tomato paste (looked like it as well) with sugar. For the first time in our family dining history we got up, left everything, paid, and left…never to return. It tasted like they are using supermarket Indian food from a jar.

I would give this restaurant ZERO stars. Very very poor slow service and the Tikka tasted like candy it was so sweet. We had to order our own drinks at the bar and even then the delivery was so so slow. Once again, the food is so sweet you cannot eat it.

The food was excellent and not too spicy, had a good range of vegetarian dishes all reasonably priced, staff were friendly and helpful would definitely go again

We went to the restaurant for dinner, papadums were not fresh, my plate was taken away from me before I’d finished them. Main course, very bland sauces for both curry dishes, Nan was not cooked & we had to send back. Waiter not responsive when he asked how it was & I said not great. Felt very rushed. Family member Ordered chips with dips and they failed with the order and forgot the dips called to see about sorting the issue and had a rude experience on the phone with the owner where he said he’s too busy and hung up would not recommend

A late decision to go on a Saturday evening. Greeted by a very friendly young woman who guided us to a table which had unbelievable views. Plenty of choice on drink menu. Menu is quite traditional for a UK Indian restaurant but decent choice. Mixed tandoori was nicely cooked and tarka dhal one of the tastiest I’ve had for ages. Good value for money and lovely service from everyone.

What a shame. We had friends over from America who were looking forward to an Indian meal. The restaurant was incredibly busy, with at least 6 people waiting to be seated and another 6 waiting for or ordering takeaways. We ordered our takeaway and were told it would be an hour wait OK no problem. When we got our meal home (10 miles away) the korma was like semolina, the Jalfrezi was like a chicken stew with a couple of chillies thrown in,the King prawn tandoori was within a whisker of being burnt. The lamb dish was OK. We have visited many times before this and it has been okay but not sure we will be visiting again soon.

We were recommended this place by our guest house owner. Having read the reviews on this restaurant we were a little apprehensive to say the least. But we needn’t have worried, absolutely faultless, in fact probably one of the best Indian restaurant we have visited lately. On arrival the restaurant was very busy and vibrant which is always a good sign , we were properly shown to our table and made to feel welcome. We had pomperdoms, onion barges, butter chicken, Tandoori mix grill with curry sauce, all with rice and Nan bread. A bottle of French red and two Irish coffee. Total cost £71 We couldn’t eat all the food, which was a shame as it was delicious !!! We learned that some couples had a loyalty card, which speaks volumes, as if you believe the latest reviews you wouldn’t be returning. I can only recommend this place so if you love Indian food and you’re visiting the area , don’t hesitate just book and enjoy.

We were a party of 8. The food was very disappointing. My sidh, what I expected to be the classic Chicken Tika Masala was something I had never experienced before: Bright red flavoured (apparently they use beetroot colouring), far too sweet and devoid of any taste of spices. I did ask for an explanation of why the Chicken Tika Masala was like it was but it was not satisfactory. The majority of my friends were also disappointed with their dishes, describing them as bland. One asked for a little more chilli and it went from having no heat to being far too much. Clearly the chef had no idea how to add a little heat. The three vegetable dishes were okay. Given the restaurant has a reasonable rating I can only guess that the normal chef was on a night off and the person who cooked our food was a stand in. Also, we had to wait an unusually long time for the food – nearly an hour yet the restaurant was pretty empty – it was Tuesday night. The staff were friendly but not particularly attentive to our needs. We were in a second parallel room and the staff in the other room. Not once did they come and ask if we would like anything else or another drink. It took them a long time to bring tpa water and the right number of glasses.

We dropped in for dinner around 7.30pm. It was busy, but not full. After seating us it took about 10 minutes to order drinks and another 10-15 minutes for taking the orders. It was very warm inside. They also have a take-out. It seemed that that had a higher priority compared to the people in the restaurant. We asked how long it would take and only got apologies. In all we waited for about an hour for the food. The food itself was hot, fresh and tasted very good. Based on the food i would give them 4 stars. It was just that the service was slow.

Had a take away……Disgusting full stop!!!!! Eaten here a few times over the years food always been good in restaurant. Told 30 mins for takeaway took 1 hr can only say the food was tasteless🤮

Absolutely stunning food We were a party of 26…..vegetarians and vegans dotted around the group too Didn’t miss a beat….service was good, beer was in good supply! Stunned with the bill too…..very reasonable!

Do not trust their opening hours. They don't stay open even near the opening hours they purport to. There isn't much in Hay to eat after 8pm, so many rely on this restaurant to provide. Don't bother.
