Red Fort Caerleon in Newport

Excellent service, beautiful food, 9 of us ate and everything was pipping hot. A lovely Mother's Day meal.

The waiter was transparent with me when asked for recommendations and suggested an authentic dish. Owner was lovely. The dish tasted like what my south Asian family would cook for each other.

We’ve eaten here often, and the food is generally great. But today, we ordered a delivered take away for 18:50 and it was delivered almost an hour early at 17:55… what if we hadn’t been in? Also, unusually today, a little under spiced. Still, it was well cooked and tasty. But, when you order a delivery slot, you do expect it to be deliver when you request!

5 stars all around. Have been here at least 5 times and never had a bad meal. Came here with a friend and both had a great meal. Staff attentive and food piping hot. Only downside is parking in the area, however this does not reflect on the Red Fort. I will certainly return for a sit down, just a bit far to drive for takeaway.

I chose to take my wife here for St Valentine's Day, because as the restaurant bills itself as "fine dining", I thought we might be in for something different and special. We weren't. It's a perfectly good Indian restaurant, the food was, on the whole, quite good, the staff excellent, but fine dining it wasn't.

A last minute decision to have a meal here but they managed to fit us in on a busy night and wasn't disappointed lovely meal usual good service and great atmosphere

What a place food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will be going again very soon and will become my favourite Indian restaurant.

The finest curry house I have been to. Faisal is a great host. The rest of the staff are attentive and friendly. The food is fantastic and the portions very generous. I highly recommend a visit.

Delivery food cold chips not fully cooked

After 5 years of enjoying quality food from The Red Fort, never disappointed, never let down. New Year’s Eve order delivered early, I guess being aware of their likely busy time would encourage early booking. For us, by far the best Indian in a 100 mile radius. Ref Fort. Keep on doing what you do best. ❤️

I have had several meals here which can only be described as fantastic. The same can also be said for service which is first class. I suggest to try Red Fort if your in the area. Well done guys.

Wonderful Sunday evening. Great staff and awesome food

A visit to the Red Fort in Caerleon each year in October is becoming a tradition. Following a reunion of Old Boys and Girls from Newport High School who were pupils of the school during the 1960's, we look forward an informal dinner where we can all enjoy great Indian food in a cosy, comfortable setting. Our gathering is now usually a dozen of us which includes several musicians. The staff at the Red Fort are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food is fabulous!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I would highly recommend. We were 5 brothers who popped in after an international rugby match as we were staying across the road at the Priority. We were super impressed!

Went on a week night for a small family gathering, as we'd heard good things about Red Fort. Everything we'd heard was justified. This is a great Indian restaurant, with incredibly friendly and professional staff. They were all very knowledgeable and the pride for their restaurant and its food was clear. The food itself was wonderful, and was far removed from any Indian I've had before, and you could tell the care that had been put into the dishes and freshness of the ingredients. Now to note, Caerleon is notorious for lack of parking, and the restaurant does not have its own parking, so you may have a small walk. Good for after a feast though! It is also the most expensive Indian restaurant I've been to personally, but don't let that put you off as it was definitely worth the price of the admission, and I will always pay more for great food, which this definitely was. Will be taking the wife there as soon as I can, so I can't give much more of an endorsement than that!

5 stars for service, food and ambience! The lamb shank and Korma dishes were delicious. Generous portion size coupled with friendly service...would recommend to anyone fancying an authentic cuisine in a cosy, Indian restaurant.

Was having a private conversation and the waiter came over and told me to leave …I was talking about the origins of the good it’s mediocre at best again another restaurant claiming to serve Indian food but it’s not …. If you eat here just admit your not eating Indian food but something else

Unfortunately our experience wasn’t great. Food and service was good but a party of inconsiderate people were so loud and unruly spoilt the experience. We left with 3/4 of our meal left and full drinks as it was so loud. When I paid I mentioned that we were leaving as we couldn’t stick the noise, the server apologised and explained that he had asked them twice to pipe down. A real shame as we’ve been looking for a regular Indian restaurant. Ps I would have given the food 5 stars but the popadoms weren’t very fresh

Well prepared vegan options - the vegetable korma with coconut milk was divine, the aubergine stuffed with chickpea curry was superb!

What a gem! We visited here for the first time (Why haven't we been here before!?) and had the most delicious meal. Everything was very fresh indeed. We particularly loved how crisp and tasty the vegetables were in the dishes. Quite often they are over cooked in curries, but certainly not here! The staff were excellent and service was very prompt. We'll be back very soon!

The food is absolutely amazing and every bit as good as all the reviews say. The menu is so varied and creative, the food so fresh, locally sourced and each dish tasted like it was authentically prepared and cooked. We are both foodies and chefs - we have not tasted better Indian food in the U.K. than this. The service was impeccable too - kind, gracious and so considerate. A massive thank you. It was my 60th birthday celebration and I’m so delighted we chose to eat at the Red Fort.

Well, I have worked in Glasgow and Leicester, where they have some very good Indian eateries: this can stand alongside some of the best in those cities. It is very good. It is not a cheap eats place, nor a place just to refuel: to get the best you need a little time. There is a wide range of Indian cuisine....and even the Boss, never the greatest fan of spice, really enjoyed her chicken skewer....moist, succulent and full of flavour. Often the vegetable side is mostly potato, but not here, with a good range of vegetables, just cooked. The Lamb Dansak was excellent......very tender lamb, spicy but sour lentils, plus a good peshwari naan. The portions are generous, but no problem, the kitchen will package up leftovers for you. It was so good, I went back another day for a takeaway.

Very friendly staff and food is excellent and such big portions. Excellent choice and quality of food to be found on the menu. Such a wide choice I didn't know what to choose. There were seven of us, and all of us took a doggy bag home.

Really lovely authentic tasting food, and plenty of it. The only problem was there was not a disabled toilet on the ground floor and was unable to climb steep flight of stairs.

We just had a delicious meal with fantastic service. The waiters are excellent and care about customers enjoying their food. I would love to try the same food in asian/home style and hope to come back soon as eveverything is beautifully cooked. No puddles of grease or excessive salt here! It was especially nice to see regulars interact with the waiters, creating a warm and welcome atmosphere, perfect for a night away from home.

We had a lovely meal here while in the area for work . A gem of a restaurant which we couldn’t fault. Excellent service, immaculately clean and great tasting authentic type Indian cooking…. What’s not to love !!! We are both Indian so we know what it should taste like !! Our waiter Ahad was so professional and clearly loves what he does, an asset to the restaurant.

Absolutely top class in all departments. Passing through for one night we found this restaurant when our hotel menu was restricted. What an absolute turn of luck. We were quickly seated by the polite staff even without a booking. The menu is extensive and lives up to it's fine Indian dining tag. Immense portions and flavours compared to what are used to in London. Prices in my opinion are very very reasonable and although we may not have the pleasure again any time soon, we will remember our dinner here for a long time to come. Well done guys! It was delicious food with excellent customer service. We would definitely recommend to everyone and come back again.

Pre booked a table on a Friday night. It was busy with only 1 or 2 tables unused. Poppadum and chutney tray was nice, as was the wine. I skipped mains and opted for a mixed grill to avoid carbs. It was very nice despite lamb being on the tough side. Hubby had a curry which he enjoyed. Overall great service and despite our bill being £20 more than our usual local Indian restaurant, I would return and probably try a different dish.

Average food but high prices. Was looking forward to eating here given the reviews, but unfortunately the curry (Goan chicken) was underwhelming. At £27 I expected much better but it was pretty flavourless. Very nice toilets though…!

Services was awesome, they were attentive to me and the food came quickly too. It was the best Peshwari Naan I’ve had in a really long time and the Chicken Balti was delicious too. Would recommend.

Went for my birthday, friendly staff and clean dinning area, quite expensive, mint sauce was not nice to heavy on the herbs, all meals and distinctive taste which was off off-putting.

I’ve eaten here a few times and the quality of the food is consistently good! They also manage to make dishes vindaloo hot at the same time as retaining its flavour! Not cheap but I’m happy to pay for good food!!

Superb food, generous portions, very accommodating and helpful staff. Don’t miss this place ! We’ve been to Caerleon three times from London and every time we tried to get in here as the recommendations and reviews were great. Twice we have tried a walk in and never got in. This time we did an online booking and was gutted when it was fully booked, whilst walking by we tried our luck and popped in, “table for two?” We was told a large party had been cut short from illness, their loss was our gain. The stafff were amazing, friendly and helped with our order. The portions were generous and the food had an extra something about the usual Indian restaurants. When we left we was approached by two members of staff thanking us and talking to us about our experience. 10/10. Best in S.Wales apparently. Why not best in Wales???

Fabulous food, great customer service. We've been here a few times now over a year or so, and it remains excellent. Sometimes you go back to a restaurant after a period of time and are disappointed, that's not the case here. Recommend sharing, portions are generous, the naan breads are amazing!

I had the Goan Salmon. Nothing special, so would not have recognised this meal as coming from a starred restaurant. The coconut rice was far too sweet as was the Salmon. Took half home with me and added to it to make it better. Grossly overpriced for what it was and wasn’t even served differently. They used the usual stainless steel dishes. For 24.95 for one course I would expect better design. I have paid two thirds less at a take away not far from this restaurant for better food. Very disappointing, won’t visit again.

We visited the Red Fort for the first time after moving to the area, on a friends recommendation. We were not disappointed. On entering we received a friendly greeting and the ambience enveloped us as we took our table. From there on it just got better, the menu was varied and interesting, the food arrived promptly and was piping hot. The staff were very friendly and professional and we felt valued as customers. Our dishes were beautifully cooked and presented, and we were even offered a doggy bag to take home the food we couldn’t manage! Overall a great dining experience and a team that really understands how to deliver customer service. We will definitely be going back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Surely a test for any restaurant is whether they serve high quality fresh food, in good time and with a huge smile when 26 lively folks get together for a good time and all order individually from the standard menu. The outcome was never in doubt - Magnificent even Bendigedig ! Thankyou Ahad and everyone else front and back of house for making us feel very special. Both quality and quantity of food was excellent. No need to consider other venues - we didn't. This was our second visit and no doubt not our last.

I was so impressed with my food! One of the best curries I have had…I had a vegetable saag with egg fried rice, onion bhaji and a naan bread and it was gorgeous! The service is second to none, the restaurant is well presented and well managed. I will definitely visit again …we had a great girls night out

Well what an amazing experience eating at the Red Fort Caerleon! Only disappointment was that I didn’t take photos! From the time we went in, the service was amazing! They explained the different starters, spice levels for main course and what would suit us, depending on our usual tastes! We re definitely going to have the sharer stack next time! You could taste the spices in the main course, a very delicate blend, even the Nan bread was the best I’ve ever had! You must go and try!

Son's 50th birthday and his choice of restaurant. Nine of us met and we were all happy with our meals. I started withTandoori King Prawns, which was delicious. Then for the main course I had Delhi Machhalee. I loved the cover on the dish when it arrived and then was quickly removed to reveal a special meal. Attention to our group was first class, and the sparkling birthday 'cake' along with the gift completed a perfect experience. Thank you all once again. We shall be back! One thing I did before we arrived was to decide what I would eat, as there are so many choices.

A Staple Curry House situated in the heart of the historic village of Caerleon. Never had a bad takeaway from here and have heard the sit in meal is a 10/10. Would highly recommend if you’re local and/or in the area.
