Nice burgers and fries but very pricey

Food is way overpriced. 2 mediocre Hotdogs for £18 and fries I had to get separate. My partner ordered a sandwich that came in a cheap Burger bun. It was not a burger. Staff not in a uniform so major casual for the prices we were paying.

The hot wing challenge is brutal. Everything else is great - try the burgers, they are massive.

We had an absolutely delicious meal for my boyfriend’s birthday! The New York platter was massive portions and all of the food was super fresh and tasty - we couldn’t finish it all! The milkshakes were also superb and the staff were superb and really helpful!

I have to say we were really impressed with the burger, beef rib and brisket - I've had a lot of burgers in my lifetime and this one was right up there with the best of em. Hot wings with blue cheese sauce were delicious. Can't fault the service, Malik was amazing. They've not heard back on comfort either. Can't wait to go back.

Cold food and dirty crockery! If you don't want food poisoning, go to one of the other outlets near by

Really disappointed in this I went for my birthday meal with my girlfriend we got a couple of burgers and they were covered in grease, the lemonade was one of the worst I've ever had just completely flat I wouldn't recommend this place especially with the price they charge

Had an early evening meal but it felt as if they weren't prepared. Expensive per person for a tray of barbecued meat when there were no burnt ends, had to request them and point out it was on the menu list for our expensive option, and very mean supply of pickles. Last visit only given a single burger when had ordered as a double, so suggest ask them to read back to you the order.

Good location. Feels like an American dinner / pub. Good atmosphere. Friendly and prompt service. Attempted and conquered the infamous Devastator Burger. Was slightly disappointed with the burger and would have preferred a sauce with it. Overall I just expected more for the price.

A birthday no-no. Not the birthday meal I was hoping for. Friendly staff but sadly the food was a major disappointment. For £50 we got Mozzarella sticks that weren’t cooked (it should be stringy and warm but instead it was solid and cold). The source it came with was cold and tasteless. We ordered a brisket which was okay but definitely not worth £18.50! Luckily the brisket mustard sauce came in a separate container as it did not compliment the brisket whatsoever. The Caesar salad was the biggest disappointment of all. For £10.50, you get a plate full of lettuce, some shoved parmesan on top with 4 big pieces of croutons. How do you charge £10.50 for that? The dressing is nothing else but two pots of strange tasting mayonnaise. It seems all about quantity rather than quality. The fries were okay but without any seasoning. The best thing about it was the friendly staff and lovely music but the food and the cost absolutely ruined the birthday experience for sure.

Came in last night as heard good things The overall atmosphere was really nice. However the food was not up to standard way to overpriced for the quality. Ordered the long horn beef rib. Which came in a pool of hot sauce which wasn’t stated on the menu the meat was tough and mostly fat. The wings were bland and watery. Overall very disappointing won’t be returning.

The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance, although it can get a bit lively at times. The service is decent, and the quality of the food is satisfactory, offering an overall average dining experience.

Oh my! What can I say, we’ve been to so many places in Liverpool and one or other of family didn’t enjoy ( mum dad 2 teenagers) this was perfect, we shared a platter between 3 , older son had a double burger, had 5 sides. All was stunning, enough left over full full doggy bag. The food was fab What made it an elevated expo was the excellent staff; KIERAN, IVANNA we’re perfect Keiran is a natural at customer service and a great mentor for lovely IVANNA. The music upstairs sounded awesome Had we not have had boys with us we’d have stayed. The whole atmosphere was wholesome yet still filled with liveroool revellers. The house beer was fantastic served cold , 4 alcoholic beverages and 3 full pint of soft drinks came to £90 . Thank you for a great night . Only thing I would say is if you book on “ make my night” follow up with a phone all as our booking was not registered, but we had confirmed email. The Cartwright’s

I was disappointed with the size of the burger that I ordered. After looking at the Instagram and having high expectations, I ordered an xl cheeseburger. I was confused when there was only one patty on the burger which could’ve been bought from most places. I think it should be advertised better that an xl cheeseburger only contains one patty as I was underwhelmed when it came. However, the other food was lovely, the burger just let me down.

Lovely staff, and amazing food.

Burger was massive and full of flavour. The onion rings were some of the best I’ve had with an amazing ranch sauce to dip. The customer service was great when I picked it up. The only negative I have is the fries were a little soggy but I’m sure this was due to it being taken away. The fries still had an amazing flavour due to the seasoning.

Went there for a meal with friends and spent £190 + We waited for nearly 25 minutes before a server came over for our drinks - then after they were made they sat on the edge of the bar for another 10 minutes - 35 minutes after arriving we got asked what we wanted to eat - the food came out after another 20 and I had to try my best to get the servers attention to even get cutlery for our meal - The servers all seemed like they wanted to be elsewhere and had no customer service skills at all. The food itself was okay but not worth the £190+ we had spent

Me and three others went on a Monday and booked in for 3pm. The Restaurant itself is really beautiful, I love the decor and gothic architecture. There is an accessible toilet upstairs, and the bathrooms downstairs are gendered despite being individual rooms. We had all been very much looking forward to this place after seeing loads of tiktok’s about it but it unfortunately did not live up to the hype. We ordered the Kentucky Platter for 3 which was £95.70 and not worth it. For that price, each individual gets: a burger or sandwich of their choice, 1 pork rib, 1/3 of a beef rib, 1 slice of brisket, 1 sausage each. The platter also came with 1 garlic mayo dip for 3 people, 2 round pickles slices, a small mac and cheese bowl, and one sad tablespoon of coleslaw all BETWEEN 3 people. The burger i selected was rather bland, the brisket was just okay over half of the single slice I had was pure fat, the pork rib was good and well seasoned, the beef short rib was tiny: as we only got one split between 3 people we had a singular bite each but the bite i had was nice, the sausage was great but disappointingly the best part the menu where we all looked forward to the slow cooked meats. Overall the platter was decent but really overpriced for what we got. The burgers you do get with the platter are pre cut in half presumably to fill the tray up as it’s basically empty without them, so they were going cold really quickly, the brisket had a nice flavour but was tough. My burger was bland and medium well in one spot and very rare on another when I’d asked for medium. Service wise, the two wait staff we had did a pretty good job, they both seemed pretty new to it so I can’t fault them for that. We were however given 2 plates for 4 people and had to ask for more, and had to ask for the mac and cheese that was forgotten, and at one point none of them were walking around so we had to go to the bar to reorder drinks. Overall I’m disappointed. This place didn’t live up to the online hype, I’m unsure if those videos were planned by the restaurants, the Liverpool location is a dud, or we went on a bad day. The latter of which is inexcusable when you’re paying £170 for dinner. I’ll also add that it was quiet when we went in. And yes- there is an option to complain to wait staff, but when you’re with friends there’s only so much you can do this without souring the mood. It also took over 50 minutes for the food to arrive. A 10% service charge upon a very overpriced meal is also added without asking, which 100% will not go to the service staff. Despite other people being there, it felt awkward to be there. There was no music or background sound so you felt like you could hear everyone else’s conversations. I don’t think it’s worth going out of your way for or the price for the particular experience that I had. The whole “expectations vs reality” is really a factor here. I think if the platter’s value for money was better or that it listed on the menu that an individual gets: 1 burger 1 pork rib 1 sausage 1/3 beef short rib 0.6 of a pickle slice 1/3 tablespoon of coleslaw 2-3 tablespoons of mac and cheese for £32.50, I would've picked something else as the sandwiches and burgers alone seemed like much better value but I suppose the online appeal of these platters is where they make their money. I’d be open to trying other locations such as the London one, but it won’t be very high on my list.

Walked past this place a thousand times yet before today had never ventured in.... Overall it was mediocre, food was OK nothing special at all. Though for what we paid it was grossly overpriced, brisket was not slow roasted enough, and was not melt in your mouth, links are chopped up smoked sausage? Burgers were OK but lacked seasoning. Service was slow, the atmosphere was good but the decor made the place feel dirty... Probably will walk past for evermore...

Had the Philly cheese steak sandwich. The sandwich was filled with what I would describe as a minced beef and onion pie filling which was very salty. It definitely wasn't the 'wafer thin, Aged Rib Eye' stated on the menu. The Hot Link was a single sausage. Whilst the hot link was very good, it was nowhere near worth the £10.50 that was charged for a single sausage!! Fries were £5.50 for an amount probably equivalent to a very small McDonald's portion.

We on booked open table for 21:00 when we arrived they had live music which we was not mad aware of, now we understand it was 21:00 on a Saturday in the middle of town but the music they had on although amazing was ridiculously loud we couldn’t hear the server trying to take are order. We got sat down and chose what we wanted in the menu to then be told they didn’t have any brisket and something else that made up the platters which if we was told before we was sat down and ordered drinks we would of left already, we ordered chicken tenders and a burger and unfortunately the chicken was like rubber and was so tough and the burger was told to me to come as medium but was definitely well done, we have been in the past and it was great but unfortunately this experience would have us more then likely not return

Food was good but a little overpriced. A little unorganised, was there on a Wednesday evening, only when ordering were we told they were out of beef ribs. So we ordered pork ribs, 20 to 30 mins later we were told they had now also run out of pork ribs. Compensated with a free drink but it tarnished the experience.

The biggest burgers I have ever eaten in my life, they are delicious. I recommend them 100 percent. If you visit Liverpool, be sure to attend.

I ordered from deliveroo and A lot of money but poor burger and disgusting very cold and very heavy worst burger I have ever eaten in my life I would never recommend it you need a nice chef I will never order from here again🤮🤮

From what we could gather, the restaurant can only cope with tables up to 6-8 people. However, we were a table of 16. They absolutely could not cope with such a big order. 3 people were sat watching everyone eat while they waited for theirs to arrive. After many time of asking (three different people I may add), each time we were told the kitchen said one more minute!! Eventually two more dishes arrived, pretty much the same time as the kids desserts. After asking and asking where the last order was and receiving excuse after excuse, we ended up canceling the order. It was just as well me and my husband had agreed to share each others to taste different meals. So me and my husband ended up having half a meal each. The place simply couldn’t cope with the large order. The food was tasty. But extremely expensive. I was charged £23.50 for a double burger and small basket of chips. How much would it have cost if we actually got our full order?? Absolutely not worth the cost for such disgusting service. I will never go back again and will advise everyone I know the same. There was no offer of any apology from the manager or compensation for such a bad experience we think because the order was eventually cancelled by us. The two late dished did actually get removed from the bill, but nothing for the missed meal. All’s I can say is BEWARE

The food is fantastic however the service and atmosphere is poor. The staff are clearly under pressure and understaffed, had to ask for literally everything spending 10-15 mins to grab attention. Tables were dirty, no music or friendly greeting. Such a shame as the food is actually spot on. Not quite sure why a burger doesn’t come with fries as standard. Think the owners need to revisit there business model and staffing.

We visited on St Patrick's Day for my birthday on the 18th of March. Food was delicious (other than the small plates for big burgers which does not make sense) Anna, our waitress was very efficient, friendly, smiling and oozing confidence at the same time. Highly recommended and ask for Anna!

We went for bottomless brunch for my Fiancé’s 24th birthday, the food.. WOW! Incredible, there isn’t many options drink wise but if you like Prosecco.. winner! We both had a great time, Anna was amazing, very polite and friendly, we’ll definitely come back!

Foods nothing special and well over priced. Small portions and food very salty and some of the food come out missing items or cold. The table they put us as was small horrible and had 1 very small dim light on the table .

Nice flavoursome burgers but not warm however the biggest disappointment was the beef rib which was chewy and definitely not slow cooked. Staff were pleasant but we had to get our own additional cutlery ( a sharp knife for the tough beef) Overall poor value for money.

Sideorder came 15 minuts after the main course. The serving of beer was slow. The hamburges was cold. The sandwich was dry. The steaks were good, and the place was nice.

Brought my partner here as a birthday present - food was great but the service just ruined the experience. We visited on a weekday and it wasn’t particularly busy but everything was so slow. My drink order was wrong and after I raised it I was spoken to quite rudely, and then we ended up having to walk around looking for someone / waiting absolutely ages for sauces, drinks, the bill etc. Someone came to check our food was okay… about 10 minutes after we’d finished our food and had clear plates (without taking them away or acknowledging that the check was far too late). We then we proceeded to wait about 25 minutes after this check for our plates to be cleared. Felt like I was having to do all the work just for the basics, and to top it off a 10% service charge was added which I felt too uncomfortable to remove (which from the reviews a lot of people do not like this) - anyone with social anxiety won’t feel they can ask for this to be taken off. And then finally, on top of the 10% service charge, I got asked if I’d like to leave a tip! I politely refused and felt really disappointed that I spent a fortune when it was a damper on a special occasion.

Well well over priced (more than London prices). Food is fine, but slow service and disinterested staff. Asked for the 10% service charge to be removed and was then treated like dirt. Not impressed.

Me and my wife arrived 10 minutes early as we were meeting another couple so we headed to the bar, issues straight away. One guy looked so overworked it was painful while another girl looked out totally confused and was trying unsuccesfully to clear up some broken glass, we received a be with you in a minute and that was it, no one else being served at the bar, nor were we... ten minute later we were ushered over to our table and a drink order was taken at 7pm, our other couple arrived shortly after and the server came back over and took our food order, drinks were brought over and then we waited and waited and waited, one drink order in an hour and no one to see if anythings wrong is not great by any standards. Food was eventually brought over at 8.10pm and we tucked in. i got as far as a spoonfull of liguid mash and realised it was all cold except for the links, we called the server over again and started to tell her the food was cold, we then had the "pleasure" of a manager come over and then proceeded to tell us there was no more bbq and usher us out the door, no alternatives to offer, no burgers? A bbq joint with no bbq at 8pm is nothing short of ridiculous, i've been into a red dog in Soha (smaller restaurant 1/4 of the size) at 9pm on a Saturday night and still had a huge selection to choose from. For the prices charged you expect a lot more, there used to be burnt end pie on the menu but it seems to have been replaced by burnt end mash, heres a tip, don't bother, it was almost liquid mash with really tasteless not burnt ends. I've been to many Red Dogs, ive eaten bbq all over the world, i've had bbq in some of the best roadside bbq shacks in the states little bigger than an SUV but with smokers the size of a small house outside but never have i been to such an abomination, you should be ashamed to call yourself a bbq joint, if i was the franchise manager i would strip the Red dog name from you, the managers attitude and the service was a joke This was to celebrate my wifes 50th birthday with friend we hardly get a chance to see as we came up specially from Bristol and you almost ruined it I'm astounded by the other reviews on here, show me i'm wrong, show me you can do it and i'll remove this review but i can't see that ever happening

Absolutely loved atmosphere there , all staff and Manager absolutely welcoming and outstanding! Meyby they just need matching uniforms , great food ! Will definitely come back ! While the food was ok I don’t think for one minute that nearly £33 per person for a share platter was at all worth it when competitors are charging less for more. Me and the wife had a share platter and the mash wash stone cold ste Austin and the bean was terrible. Very little meat between us and had to order side Chips on all meals ordered separately so you order a burger that all you get. 10% service charge is taken no way of saying no. All in there is far better places to go and for far less. Won’t say won’t be back but will defo look around first I’ll also add, staff noticed it was our sons 21st and gave him a choc brownie with ice cream to mark the occasion free of charge, which was a lovely touch

We came quite early in the day so it wasn’t busy at all - only 3 tables filled when we came in. So quite an awkward atmosphere. Food was probably good for what it is but we just didn’t like it, and that was maybe our different tastes and no fault of the cooks. It’s definitely supposed to be a specific style from the US. We also ordered cocktails we didn’t like but that was mostly our fault.

The food was great, highly recommended. Our waitress was Anna, and she was amazing, very good hospitality.

Food is very good, and the size of the dishes is big.

So to start off the food The Mac and cheese wasn't good at all. It tasted like cheap hot water and powered cheese sauce the macaroni wasn't even cooked overall wouldn't order it The fries had a real tasty coating and was delicious but they was all cooked solid, there's crispy and then there CRISPY lol. There was still some nice ones in there Now the beauty of the place The Devastator Burger. It it simply the best burger I've ever had in my life and I've had a lot of burgers. Perfection<3 The atmosphere is great.when it's not chocker block. With a more relaxed place Will return to dominate another big meat feast But will probably try the mash next.

Disappointed. Got told it was book a table but still got sat down. Food took over an hour, and my order was wrong. Didn't bother to tell them as I was starving. Just as we started to eat, the hostess came over and told us we needed to hurry up as the table was booked and the people had arrived. Why give us the table if you knew people were going to need it. Don't bother as it's overpriced, and the staff are miserable. They also put a 10% tip on without even asking.

Was great to find something different to celebrate my birthday, but sadly a mistake tainted it some. Fancy naming a meal called 'One of each' then on ordering find the manager has order 1 of each type of hotdog dish by mistake. How someone was going to eat 4 giant hotdogs was comical, but I understood there was 4 of us. But we ordered a llatter for 2 and I had explained if would be enough for 2.5 of us. But to say you'll remove the mistake off the bill and don't... Luckily I checked the bill and ask it to be taken off. But having to ask made us feel so uncomfortable and sadly spoilt the meal. Nice food though, just a shame service on a quiet sunday night wasn't upto scratch.

We had zsolt as our server and she was just the best! We had the final wing Wednesday offer. Would highly recommend the food and drinks. The staff are incredible and accommodating, such amazing people

Food was really nice, service was no issue whatsoever, only reason I’m giving it a 4 star is down to the price, £90 for two people is absolutely eye watering, we didn’t even have that much! £5.50 for a side order of fries is incredibly greedy and should come as inclusive of the platters like many other bbq establishments do.

We were having lunch at 12 30.amd there.was just a bunch on drink people yelling inside and cos its a bar aswell that's just expected and it just ruined it.

Great selection of food, busy good atmosphere. Service great although could have been a bit quicker. We waited 15 mins to pay once we had already been given the bill, but apart from that food was excellent. I went with the Meldown Burger. Loved it.

Best BBQ outside of the USA that I've ever had, and I've tried many UK BBQ restaurants. Service was great and the beer came in huge frosted glasses, which was a nice touch. Melty brisket, fall-apart ribs, succulent sausage, brilliant buffalo wings, perfectly pulled pork, beautiful blood sausage and superb sides. Shame I'm not a LIverpool local, or I'd be there regularly!

Guys I have mixed emotions I’m going to be straight. This is our 3rd visit and me and my fiancee love this place but today was not the best experience we are used too. The brisket was poor, Very chewy not falling apart like it normally is. I ordered a side on four way pork shoulder mac n cheese it was spicy with hot sauce that I don’t like and it’s not stated on the menu. So it was ruined for me. However the rest of the meal was outstanding.. the burger as best as it could be and you have some of the best waiting on staff Iv ever met 😁 I really hope you address the issues we mentioned here and when we come again it’s the same best place we love so much again! The lemonade tasted like toilet water. Split the bill and was charged an extra £20 in error. When I asked to rectify it I was made to be a villain. Issue was sorted by management but no need to demonise the customer for your own errors

I ordered the Philly Burger single stack it was absolutely delicious. The fries are ordered separately. I took the first bite and ate it all then realised I hadn’t taken a pic 😂 I will definitely visit again.

Lovely food, but a bit on the expensive side, we ordered the shared platter. The service wasn't very good, we waited about half an hour for dessert, only to be told the cheese cake didn't look very good, so we had to order something else. They also add a 10% gratuity tip on the end of your bill, but they don't tell you this, and we didn't realise until we checked the bill again the next day, they say its for all staff, but we didn't get served by all staff though.

Food was a little pricey but the flavour and portion sizes are so worth it. We ordered starters and mains and we couldn't finish it there was such a generous amount of food. We ordered the custard shakes and they informed us they ran out but can make it with milk. And it was still delicious even without the custard. Big savings if you go at lunch time

Booked at 4.30pm on Xmas Eve for me and my family. We always have a meal on xmas eve and had never tried Red Dog Saloon so we were all looking forward to it. However when we got there we were greeted with chairs up on tables etc. which we thought a bit strange? We were seated and ordered the food. Very overpriced for what we got tbh. And very, very salty. But we were looking to enjoy our Xmas Eve so we chowed down. The burgers that my sons got looked nice but we got a meat selection which was not worth the price at all. During the meal we ordered more drinks. We were given cans of coke instead of glasses with ice and lemons. When I asked why we couldn’t have a large glass of coke each (we were all needing another large glass of coke as it was very salty food) we were told that they were closing at 5pm??? We were basically rushed through our meal, given a can of coke that they were looking to charge us full price for a large glass of coke, and basically told that we needed to hurry up because they were closing!!! It was appalling service. They should NEVER have accepted a booking at 4.30pm if the restaurant was closing at 5pm!!!!! We were looked on and basically made to feel like we had to rush through our meal and leave!!! And for all of that we were charged £181.00 for 4 people eating, 8 cokes, 1 glass of wine and a meat platter for 2 people to share which was not great at best!! I did plan to contact the manager over the fiasco but as it was Xmas eve and the Christmas I left it - but I honestly wish I had as when I think about that evening it makes me feel so angry at the whole sad experience. On Xmas Eve too!!! RED DOG SALOON I AM NOT IMPRESSED AT YOUR EXTORTIONATE PRICES, YOUR POOR SERVICE AND YOUR GREEDINESS AT ACCEPTING A BOOKING HALF AN HOUR BEFORE YOU CLOSE!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WONT EVER VOSIT AGAIN AND I WONT RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYONE. IN FACT IVE STRONGLY URGED PEOPLE TO NEVER GO TO YOUR RESTAURANT.

Burgers were good, brisket was not- dry and tasteless for 37£- very disappointing. The other issue was that they tried to scam us, tourists. They didnt charge us the price noted on the menu- they took the liberty to add an extra 1£ on each plate. You add the 10% fee for the service on that ans thats how you go with +- 5 to 10£ more on each table You should be ashamed

La cuisine est bonne, mais n'est pas aussi alléchante que sur les photos. Les prix restent excessifs pour la qualité des produits. J'aurais pu laisser un avis correct si la serveuse n'avait pas "innocemment" augmenté de 1£ le prix de tous les plats principaux par rapport à la carte. Étrange coïncidence que cette "erreur" n'ait concerné que les plats principaux et aucune boisson, ni cocktail, ni accompagnement ni dessert. Bref ce n'est pas tant la différence de prix (4£ sur le total de la facture) que le geste qui me déçoit. Dommage pour les cuisiniers que les patrons soient malhonnêtes, mais je ne peux pas récompenser leur travail d'une bonne note avec une escroquerie aussi mesquine. À éviter si vous n'êtes que de passage, c'est une bonne alternative à un fast food, mais vous trouverez bien meilleur dans la rue pour moins cher. Et surveillez bien votre note.

Great food doomsday device burger was lovely.

Waited 20 mins to get served , we placed our order then 10 mins later someone comes over and tells us they have no brisket left but can do any other meal with brisket on it, service was awful , we waited 30 mins after we finished eating to get the bill and in that time there was not a single member of staff on the floor or behind the bar. Staff need replacing and the food was just greasy and not worth the money at all, would not recommend.

I have been wanting to go to red dog saloon for a long time. I finally went today and unfortunately I've left there feeling disappointed. The food was okay, kind of bland which I was surprised by especially at £30 per person for a sharing platter. You get plenty of good cuts of meat, the wings were very good. Overall it felt very expensive our bill came to £100 A pint of coke was nearly £5! We pre-booked a few days in advance and were seated near the main door and next to the staff front desk. The door was being held open by a queue of people enquiring about tables every two minutes and a gale was blowing in (January). We were meant to get mash with burnt ends but it came with no meat. We asked about it and this was rectified by bringing us some brisket. Toilets were really quite dirty, staff rushed us then didn't bring the card machine over for quite a while. I was quite surprised that there was a £10 service charge on the bill at the end. When we went to pay we weren't asked if we wanted to pay it, it was totted up and included. I am absolutely all for tipping staff, especially if we'd had a good time but we didn't feel that the service was worth £10 so awkwardly asked for it to be removed and gave a few pounds instead. I don't think the service was even worth that honestly. I don't think we'll be going again, there's plenty of nicer places in Liverpool to eat.

Food was great, very very filling! One platter would have fed 3-4 people. Lighting was rather dim but we would definitely go again. Maybe order slightly less next time!
