Liberty Tavern in Liverpool

Dismal experience. So I had just 2 pints of beer in the adjacent Elephant pub with my wife and went to go in here for a change of venue. Female security said I was too drunk to go in but I'd only had those 2 beers. She looks me and my wife up and down every time I've visited and has always looked as if she's on the verge of refusing entry while I always see people drunk to excess inside. They also communicated with security staff at the Elephant and I wasn't even allowed back in there either.

Lovely decor good spot in location I'm giving it a 6/10 the layout of the bar is good I don't know about the toilets! Staff ok apart from 1 there's a young slim lad with tiger like tattoo on he's left arm he was something else my misses said he's friendly warm charasmatic and you could se he didn't look down on people price wise I'd say ok cleanliness a little bit more support the music far too loud and that's a problem the music itself was great but the volume to loud the outside porch I think needs looking at!! The heaters I'd do something about them and the lighting u don't want anyone to fall down don't get me wrong it's constructed criticism I will go back but please fix the outside

What a lovely afternoon we had today on the rooftop.. amazing views of our wonderful city. Pizza’s fab! Halloumi fries are to die for!! Drizzled in sweet chilli….mmmmmm Curly fries .. sweet potato fries gorgeous… we was fussed over and very well looked after … thanks liberty’s 😊

Amazing atmosphere and great bar staff, This is one of the few places that sell tiki fire rum which is my go to drink and you can’t get it in many places I’ve been in, except for the last few weeks we have been in and it’s still not on the till yet after multiple weeks which sucks since we haven’t been able to order it

Came here to check out The Maker's Market. It was really well organised and something for everyone. There was entertainment, which was really good. Will definitely go to the next 1

Great drinks and atmosphere, wish the food would come back soon

Sister pub to the elephant with the same quality and prices, feels slightly more premium and occasionally has live music on. Heaters in the small terrace outside are nice for cold nights.

Visited yesterday with my husband we had squid , tempura veg , belly pork and fillet steak every bite was delicious and the salt and pepper chips are the best I’ve had ! Server was lovely and friendly and very good , think her name was Molly , have felt a little let down with food in Liverpool lately but I will definitely be back to Liberty ! Fabulous food and service .

El 11 de septiembre, 11 de mis amigos y yo vinimos a Liberty para tomar algo por nuestro 21 cumpleaños en la calle. Llegamos a las 7 y media y luego a las 8 finalmente nos sirvieron. Pedimos bebidas y comida, la comida no llegó hasta pasadas las 9 y media después de preguntar varias veces cuánto tardaría la comida. Una vez que obtuvimos nuestras bebidas, nadie volvió a preguntar si queríamos más bebidas y luego a las 10 pedimos dos botellas de vino, ¿luego vinieron más tarde sin vasos? Uno de los integrantes del grupo tuvo que subir él mismo a la barra y pedir unos vasos para la mesa. La camarera fue muy grosera constantemente poniendo los ojos en blanco y después de preguntar por un gerente varias veces nos dijeron “2 minutos” cada vez. Antes incluso de poder hablar con un gerente, nos enviaron "fotos de cortesía". . . esto no es aceptable. ¿Puede servirnos inyecciones como disculpa pero no venir a hablar con nosotros en persona? Esto ha arruinado el cumpleaños de mis amigos 21 en la calle y definitivamente nunca volveremos y nos aseguraremos de que familiares y amigos sepan sobre el terrible servicio que experimentamos esta noche.

He visitado este lugar dos veces desde la reapertura de COVID. La primera vez fue a mediados de julio. El personal de la puerta me informó que tenías que reservar una mesa que había una chica frente a mí. Después de esperar 10 minutos, el gerente (o la persona a cargo de la reserva) llegó al mostrador. Lo había visto caminar sin rumbo fijo por el restaurante durante diez minutos ignorando a las personas que esperaban. La persona al llegar se alejó con la chica frente a mí en la fila. No regresó. Después de esperar 15 minutos, el personal de la puerta se disculpó y sugirió que tomara una de las mesas vacías afuera. Después de esperar otros 10 minutos sin señales de un camarero, me fui. Tiempo total perdido 30 minutos. Visité el bar nuevamente el 18/08/20 a las 8 pm. Fui al bar y me explicó que solo era servicio de camareros. Me senté de nuevo en las mesas exteriores donde estaban ocupadas 5 mesas. Entre 8. 00 pm y 8. 15 pm no apareció ni un solo camarero. Una mesa se rindió y dejó una segunda mesa que se vieron obligados a caminar hasta la barra para pagar su cuenta. Luego me di por vencido y me fui. Este bar tiene un servicio muy deficiente y ninguna gestión obvia. Recomiendo encarecidamente evitar este bar.

Nice and chilled, ideal for day time and evening drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Outside area with heaters. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

We went with friends it's a lovely clean restaurant. The staff were charming nice and attentive. We had fish and chips it was very nice the desserts were delightful. First class service in a charming atmosphere. Just one critisism when the door was opened we got a draft. Even though we sat at the back near private dining room. We will be back.

Came in for my 21st birthday meal with 17 friends and the service was amazing. Our waitress, Niamh, was very attentive making sure we all had drinks and anything we needed and our food was amazing. Also a great atmosphere. A manager named Matt also seen to us making sure everything was how we wanted it and he also took a picture of us. Huge Thankyou

Here for Valentines with my wife, but will think twice about coming here again. We have been here several times before and usually had good food and good service, but for Valentines both were lacking. Arrived about 5.45 for an early evening meal with the restaurant about a quarter full. We were seated near to the door and with it being a cold night my wife asked if we could move further into the restaurant. the girl who was looking after the bookings had a quick look around and said that some of the other tables were already allocated and we could not be moved. (problem 1) After looking at the menu we decided on the Nachos with beef to start and then I had the Five Boroughs burger and my wife had the Steak. we also ordered a large wine and a Morretti. When the wine arrived to both of us it seemed smaller that a large measure so we asked the waitress who confirmed it was a large wine which we took her word for. (problem 2) Then we were served the nachos and found everything on the meal cold and very little beef compared to what we'd had in the past. (problem 3) Next we got our main meals with the steak still being quite nice but the burger was very disappointing, a very flat small burger, a small piece of coated chicken, a small slice of chorizo, with a piece of lettuce on a dry bun ( discovered later that there should also have been avacado and cheese but they had been missed off the meal). (problem 4) After a while we ordered some more of the same drinks with the wine being the same size so we thought the girl had been correct in what she had told us. We ate our meals and decided to go to the Elephant pub for another drink as it was still early (Liberty Tavern still with lots of empty tables where we could have been moved to). We went to the Elephant and I ordered a large wine for my wife which were surprised to see was almost twice the size of what she had been given in the Liberty. Very disappointing to see what was once a good restaurant going down hill fast. We have since been in touch with the Liberty Tavern to register our complaint .

Excellent place for food and a quiet drink.

Arrived early in the evening for a table of 5. we ordered a bottle of chardonnay wine . We did not check the wine list as usually it is always around £20 well we nearly dropped through the floor £43 for 1 bottle and i have bought this wine before for £9. The meal was nothing special and we feel really ripped off . Make sure if you go check the prices first .

Much improved on previous visits. Tuna steak was cooked to perfection and the salad very tasty. Service was attentive and friendly.

We waited so long for coffee and desert that we asked for the bill without it. We were charged £100 over on the bill and we also had to ask for a £50 gratuity to be removed, as we felt that this was much more than we wanted to pay considering our experience.

All establishments should understand that without customers they do not exist. So if as a customer you ask "How was your meal" and you reply with your honest thoughts, take that as a way to improve the business, it should be invaluable. In the case of the Liberty the person asking the question replied in a very adversarial way like the problems were my fault. A shame really as on the whole the food was good but the service was dire. Over the weekend I spent in excess of £500 in the Liberty as an infrequent visitor (we live down south) it will be the last time I part with my hard earned. We as customers are more important than the retailer, we will still exist when you do not.

My meal was fine BUT my wife had Peppered Tuna Steak with Creamed Spinach and crushed new potaoes, what is discribed on the menu is NOT what arrived at the table, creamed spinach is cream spinach, NOT the the whole meal floating in a soup of cream, really lazy catering collage cooking, the staff did knock the meal off the bill which was the correct thing to do. Normally the food is fine but on this occasion it just wasn't good.

Went to the elephant quiz and won the raffle for the roast dinner at liberty tavern. We had the best time and was thoroughly looked after By the lovely Becky and Sarah. Nothing was too much hassle. We don’t drink so the bottle of wine was redundant but we had sides and soft drinks instead. Really great alternative and the dishes were incredible! Will definite be back! Thanks guys!

Brilliant meal, had the black and blue (I think that’s what it was called) burger and was by far the best burger I’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately I was just recovering from a bug and couldn’t finish it all but it was so tasty. The nachos for starters were lovely also. I will critic the lighting, it is so hard to read the menu the lights are very dim, apart from that I would recommend!

Very basic. I had a burger which was so dry it was inedible. When asked by the waitress if everything was ok with my meal I told her the burger was very dry. She apologised but I was still charged for the meal wgich in my opinion should have been knocked off the bill. There were also people quite openly taking drugs in the toilet which was apalling!

Una fiesta de 9 de nosotros fuimos a la Liberty Tavern el domingo 6 de octubre. 7 adultos y 2 niños. 5 de nosotros cenamos asados, consistía en una rodaja de carne de res - brócoli - zanahoria y nabo un pudín de Yorkshire incinerado - Tenía una abolladura en mi dedo al tratar de cortar el pudín de Yorkshire - hubiera sido mejor tener un cuchillo para carne - eso fue la peor cena asada que he tenido - la gente en la fiesta tenía hamburguesas que dijeron que eran agradables - caras para lo que teníamos - botella de vino de la casa 20 - no recomendado

Anoche tuvimos una cena de aniversario encantadora con mis padres. Comida deliciosa. Excelente personal y amigable camarera que recomendó los Martinis de la estrella porno que mi madre de 87 años pensó que estaban deliciosos. Mamá puede ser crítica ya que hace su propio pescado y papas fritas maltratadas, pero ordenó esto y pensó que era realmente agradable. Definitivamente volveremos. Gracias por una hermosa velada.

We had our daughter’s Christening celebration in the Liberty Tavern. Prior to the event communication was great - all menu’s sent through by email.

Only went in for a drink, the staff were all ignorant at the bar and took ages to get served. Then a tenner for one pint and one bottle, wont be returning

We booked a T6 last Sunday for lunch 1.30! When we arrived no one at front of house actually stood a couple of minutes a member of staff eventually came showed us to our table! Restaurant was not busy! Our order was taken starters arrived soon after our main meal arrived at 14.50 which was totally unacceptable 2 from our table had to leave immediately after as they’d a baby who needed her bottle! Head of house was so unpleasant when we complained staff were actually avoiding our table! Such a bad experience!

I visited the Liberty Tavern with my family and had a really enjoyable meal, we were served by Helen who was a joy and very welcoming. I would definitely recommend the ribs.

We had a disastrous Xmas day dinner and as a token the Liberty tavern invited us back to make amends.

We visited The Liberty Tavern yesterday evening and the whole experience was great, the waiting on staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. The food came out promptly and was delicious, we had the sea bass americaine, and also had a portion of their famous mac n cheese which was on as a special for July 4th, I would highly recommend both. Well worth a visit!

We tried to dine at The Elephant (next door), but it was fully booked for the time we needed.so we went to the Liberty Tavern on spec. What a good move. I had a Chilli Burger. It was the best burger I`ve ever eaten. Not cheap, but the best by far, (I`m sure it was fillet steak, it was that good). We are from Preston, and were visiting relatives in Liverpool, (Mossley Hill). Never been to Woolton before, but next time I`m in the area, I`ll be sure to call again. Friendly waitress, nice atmosphere, good food. Perfect

A very pleasant experience from start to finish the staff the food was outstanding.

Had my beautiful wife Julie’s birthday celebration there, staff were really attentive and welcoming, especially Eliza who looked after us so very well from the minute we entered the dining room, till the minute we left, she even took a photograph of both of us, which she gave to us on the night, also a free drink for the birthday girl, how special does that make you feel, lovely touch. Food was very nice and well presented, and well priced, especially that your dining in such lovely surroundings, well done the Liberty Tavern

The food was below average, very disappointing, steak over cooked, I asked for salad instead of bread bun and then they tried to charge me for it; thankfully the drinks, atmosphere and staff, were great! Would not advise having food here.

Myself and my husband have heard great things so decided to try it out. The waiting staff are great but the food wasn’t all good. The prawns came out dry and only a little bit warm like they’d been left, they cost £7.50 as a starter, I never send anything back but I had to with these.

Had a lovely meal and we were very well looked after by the very attentive staff, very good service and very friendly. I had the rib eye steak, rare, which was cooked perfectly and was a deliciously tasty piece of meat. The fish fry was also delicious and the red ((house) and white (Pinot) wines were also delicious. Think we will go back on steak night. Thanks LT for a lovely meal.

Went for My daughters birthday 11 of us, when we got there I asked could the table time be moved a little so we could have a drink and wait for family. They said take your time let us know when you’s are ready. I think this was very accommodating!! Bear in mind this was a Wednesday evening, I understand this will not be possible when they’re busy, Abbie served us she was a lovely girl and lovely mannered . Liberty Tavern made our evening very relaxed and special, we will most definitely be eating there again the food and service where excellent!!!

Great atmosphere. Dinning area with an American feel. Drinking area inside and outside and live music. Had a a Sunday Roast. Chicken, Pork Belly or Beef. Big portions with veg, yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy. Felt very much at home.

Food is wonderful especially the steak, our waitress was fantastic and very friendly however had to wait just under an hour for our mains once out starters had been taken from us, there was some mix up in the kitchen apparently. Two adults and two children with a bill over £120 I’d like a bit less waiting times between courses for Thursday night. Would return but I’d think twice on having a three courses.

Decided to stop for lunch at the Liberty tavern while visiting Woolton village on a Saturday afternoon. Nice place, we were seated almost straight away without prior booking. Very good service and the food tasted great, an enjoyable afternoon which was finished off by popping across the road for cocktails at the Pickled Olive.

He estado aquí en un par de ocasiones y en ambas ocasiones la comida era excelente. En cada ocasión, nuestra camarera era la misma chica (Amy) y ella era muy amable y servicial (a todo lo que estaba sirviendo), siempre que es posible que haya necesitado algo pero sin agobiar. En cuanto a las opciones que les preguntamos, fuimos bien informados, la comida salió caliente y exactamente como se describe. Si estuviera buscando algo negativo que decir, entonces sería que las papas están un poco flojas. Pero como eran un plato de acompañamiento, no podía comerlos de todos modos ya que había más que suficiente en el plato principal.

Nice place to go for drinks, was a bit warm in there but apart from that all food. Barman even came over to me to tell me he had overcharged me £1 by mistake and handed me the £1 cash, good service!!

Visited with friends on a busy Saturday night. The service was impeccable and our waitress was so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. We were a group of 2 Vegetarians and 1 Meat Eater and there was something for all of us! The cocktails were great too!

We visited liberty and they still had the 50% off even on a Thursday night. Great service from Amy H, we ordered lots of food and it was all as good as we expected. We will be back again soon!

Terrible service, rude staff. Told us we would be entitled to an offer before the meal then changed their mind afterwards. Average food, overpriced, cramped seating. Will not return. Contacted the manager as requested in the response below. No reply after a week.

I don't know what I expected from the Liberty Tavern but I was pleasantly suprised by their food and service. The waiting staff were very pleasant and made suggestions which were constructive and honest. The food was very good and well priced as well. I think my initial apprehension was due to having only previously visited on a weekend evening when it can be very busy in the bar. I hadn't eaten before and maybe thought food was an aside. I admit I had formed an opinion that wasn't valid. I shall definitely return.

Visited for the first time with my partner for my birthday. Food was lovely and staff were amazing our waitress Hollie was really helpful will definitely recommend to friends.

My family and I came here for a birthday meal late January. I arrived early and had a couple of drinks. The bar staff were doing cocktail training and gave me two of them to enjoy (Date Old Fashioned and an Espresso Martini); utterly delicious, particularly the former.

Went for Sunday dinner I had chicken my wife had beef got to say it was fantastic! Best Sunday Roast in Liverpool!!!

Great place guys but can the prices come down just a tad please!

I have noticed lately that the porn star martini's aren't as full in the glass as they used to be and when you highlight this to the bar staff you just get an argument off them. These drinks aren't cheap and you feel as if they are ripping you off if your glass isn't full. I have politely tried to make this point to the bar staff but they just gang up on you and try to fob you off with comments of "froth" and "I have been doing this for 10 years so I should know better than you". It is quite astounding really, great place ruined by rude staff.

Booked for family as a special treat for Christmas Day. At £90 per head for ‘5 courses’ we were expecting something special. When we arrived we were kept waiting 30 min for our table, and then a further hour for our starters to arrive once seated. The food was very poor quality once it actually arrived. Canapés consisted of olives and sliced cheese, the soup course was served with no cutlery and no side plates (sliced bread on one plate for all to share) and the turkey dinner was a few slices of over-cooked meat with roast potatoes, sprouts and gravy plonked on top (we were not asked if we wanted gravy). No other veg, no cranberry sauce, no stuffing and no pigs in blankets. The serving staff were few and far between - there was nobody to ask or to complain to. We eventually finished our meal after 4 hours, and then were told when we paid for our drinks that we should gave been offered complimentary Prosecco, which we didn’t ever see. An utter fiasco from start to finish. Can’t express how disappointed I am, it wasn’t worth £20 per head never mind £90.

First let me say that we have had issues in the past with our Xmas Day meal at Liberty Tavern but decided to give it another go, we are glad we did, everything was absolutely spot on, the service was perfect(we where served by Amy H), 3 guests, we had different starters, then Turkey for main meal and to finish 2 different puddings and 1 cheese, we all agreed that everything was excellent, we arrived for the 1pm sitting, we were not rushed, all in all we had a great day, well done to the chefs and waiting on staff.

Booked with Family for Christmas day an absolute fiasco waited 2 hours for main course to arrive to find burnt sprouts and roast potatoes (3) and two small slices of Turkey at £90 a head an absolute liberty !! If Simon Rimmer is associating himself with this restaurant he should be ashamed of himself do your self a favour and definitely give this one a miss !!

OMG how can you pay £90 for such poor service and food, 2 hours to get a main course which was utter disgusting when it turned up.
