It was incredible to find a fully vegetarian indian restaurant in middle of Euston. The ambience was wonderful and location was minutes away from euston station. There was a good range of indian food items varying from chats to dosa. Drinks menu was limited and I was expecting to see some hot beverages like south indian filter coffee or masala chai but missed it. I tried poori, garlic naan & veg kurma. The kurma was subtle and mild with good flavour (3.5/5). Garlic naan was very good but size was smaller than expected for the price (3/5) but stealer was the poori with less oil absorbed and fresh busting with hot vapours (4.5/5). Price wise the restaurant is on the expensive side and portion size was bit small but still a very good spot to visit again and try their chats.

We asked Shiraj for a recommendation and he suggested we try the shankar Thali and spinach and paneer dosa - the combination was delicious and we really loved the food. Drummond Street is full of restaurants but we chose this one for the wonderful atmosphere and the warm welcome confirmed our choice. Staff were attentive and lovely. We will definitely come back soon.

My friend and I having been coming here for over 40 years since we were students. We recently had a meal here, which was delicious. Moni our waitress was amazing! So warm and friendly yet not intrusive. I had the sag aloo, brinjal bahgee with garlic nan. My friend had the dosa. All delicious tasty and morish. We re planning another visit with friends. Can't wait!

Excellent pure vegetarian food place. After a long time, i get to taste amazing pure vegetarian food in the uk. Ordered Shankar thali and the food was awesome. The chef was sweet and humble. Staff moni was a hospitable and lovely person. Will definitely eat there again.

Food is not so good. Ambience is nice but not recommended. Only dal and tandoori roti were nice. Rest all sabjis were bland!!

We came here from Glasgow yesterday for lunch. The place was lovely with amazing customer service. Special shout out to Moni. She was so kind and friendly. Loved her customer service. We had ordered two thali and the food was good too. Will surely visit again to try other food items.

We had excellent food and service all round. It was good to see them busy in the afternoon as well as the evenings.

The restaurant is really lovely. We told our waitress, Moni, that my friend and I were trying Indian cuisine for the first time, and she took great care of us, explaining and recommending all the traditional dishes. I must say we found everything delicious—slightly spicy, but truly flavorful. To finish, Moni thoughtfully offered us a spoonful of fennel seeds mixed with spices to aid digestion. Thank you for your kindness, Moni! Next time we’re in London, we’ll be happy to come back.

I ordered idli, and I can’t understand how someone could ruin it. They served us idli that I believe was stale—it was hard and brittle. Considering the restaurant's place of origin, it’s surprising that such a simple staple dish could be so poorly made. I hope they serve better next time !!

We had an amazing time here! The chaats were absolute perfection with many of the other items being tasty as well. Moni was an excellent server and had great hospitality! Would 100% recommend!

I arrived in London with a longing for poori. I made a reservation by phone, as the online service didn't confirm. We shared pani poori, bhel poori and two dhosas. It was excellent. Check out the daily specials. We left feeling very happy.

Everything was excellent from service to the food. Special mention to Mr. Saif and Mr. Tuhin for the exceptional service and accommodating our requests.

This hidden gem is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have been to in London. The Atmosphere is clean and cosy. The Starter, Bhel Poori, is tasty. The main dishes, Masala dosa, Brinjal bhajee, and Garlic Naan, have authentic tastes. Mowni provides great service. Overall, the experience is great.

Very nice vegetable biryanis. Well filled samosas. They also gave me a complementary desert. The lady waitress is lovely too.

Decided to go in with my friends as it was completely empty and thought we'd have a risk. The staff were super friendly and welcoming gave us free starter and when they gave us the wrong order they rectified it and let us keep the wrong item aswell! The malai kofta was absolutely incredible and the karahi paneer was also very good. I wouldn't reccommend the muttar paneer or the paneer dosa. Dont be swayed by the empty restaurant as service and food was superb.

I’ve been coming to this gem of a place for 40 years for my masala dosa fix. 35 of those years from Somerset! You can now get dosas all over the UK, but Ravi Shankar still serves the best dosas in the world, including India! Their starters are also SO tasty and staff very friendly and efficient. Love it!

Absolutely great dhosa place. Powered me through so much research work at the British library. Went again this week and the food was excellent as always, and we got a complementary spiced tea afterwards which was delicious. Can't recommend enough!

This place deserves a huge shoutout! There’s soft bollywood music playing, there are pretty flowers all around, and they even have a harmonium! The staff is so friendly and funny, made us feel extremely comfortable. The food is good - it was served hot. They even accomodated extra requests. Must visit:)

I had a lovely time with my aunt today at the resturant, the food came on time was very delicious 😋 and all the service was amazing with very friendly and helpful staff! I also got ice cream and a mango lassi as recommended and it was soo good 😇😁 Lincoln was very cheerful and made sure to check everything was okay with our food and service! I would definately recommend here if you like flavourful food and drinks (sweet treats too!) lots of spices and a great vegetarian options ☺️

I live in the US but always try to eat here on my visits. Nothing like the Bhelpuri or yogurt chaat anywhere in the US. Manager and staff went above and beyond when I told them that eating here made my day as it brought back memories of eating here over 40 years ago. A restaurant can only last for decades if they are doing something right, these people certainly are.

I have a soft spot for the Ravi Shankar which serves beautiful bhel poori, thali and dosas, just as it did when I was a student in London over 30 years ago. I make a nostalgia trip to this restaurant every so often, and yesterday's experience was such a joy that I felt compelled to write a review. It was quite simply the best customer service I've received in any restaurant for ages, thanks to the lovely Moni who served us. The place felt "uplifted" which was definitely due to the staff, and Moni in particular was completely delightful - always friendly, smiling and helpful. She seemed to take a genuine pleasure and pride in her work. Our group thought she was the perfect example of service with a smile, and they also enjoyed the tasty and generous portions of food. The Ravi Shankar is Drummond Steet's gem. Long may it continue.

I had the Mysore Masala Dosa, and I must say the filling was delicious and incredibly generous. The staff, especially Saif, was very friendly, providing 5-star service. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved the food there, specifically their aloo chana chat!! The staff and even the chef were soo sweet! The ambience of the place was great too with old Hindi songs!! Will definitely go back there!!

Ravi Shankar is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic and flavorful food. Every dish is crafted to perfection, bursting with taste and truly fulfilling. The portions are generous and absolutely worth every penny spent. The highlight for me was the Bhelpuri, it was hands down the best I’ve ever had, with an authentic taste that took me straight to India. If you’re looking for a satisfying dining experience with impeccable flavors, Ravi Shankar is a must-visit!

An old school Indian restaurant in Drummond Street. All veggie, I had a thali which was excellent, the soup was just perfect. Friendly and speedy service.

Decent food, dosas are tasty although the chutney could be better. Staff is nice but service could be improved.

I used to love ravi shankars as I’ve been visiting over twenty years - now I’m wondering if they’ve ever cleaned the place in all those years. Surely some of the money could be spent on a new carpet - it’s so yuck and doesn’t give you confidence that the kitchen hygiene would be any more respectable- food now lacks taste and subtlety - dosas are now mediocre and the Sambal and chitines lacking in taste - starting to feel it’s money over value and care now - can you rise to the challenge and bring the old love back?

It's not nice to see the manager shouting at the trainee waiter on Sat 2nd Nov. It's embarrassing for him and affects the atmosphere. Is there workplace bullying? It does seem quite old school: staff do not learn best in a workplace of fear!.

I recently visited Ravi Shankar and had a mixed experience. We started with the vegetarian aloo chat, which was quite good and had the right balance of spices. However, things went downhill from there. The malai kofta and paneer achar were both disappointing—the flavors were off, and the dishes didn’t taste fresh. The biggest downside was the service. The waiter was rude, making uncomfortable jokes and comments, which created an unwelcoming atmosphere. It felt like they were just waiting for us to leave rather than making us feel at home. Overall, not a pleasant experience and wouldn’t recommend it.

I worked out during this visit that I have been visiting for over 40 years! And I've never had a bad meal. My wife was bowled over by her Sag Aloo and I plumped for a dosa. Quick, friendly service, tasty food. This isn't smart dining or amazing décor. Just great food.

The guys who work here on a Monday evening don't give a rat's about either the food or service. Ordered an Aloo Channa chaat which should be dominated by fresh spiced cubed potatoes and chickpeas. I counted 4 pieces of chickpeas and a lesser number if potatoes. Instead the dish was packed with crunchy papri pieces in a sweet yoghurt base. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he pretended not to understand English and gave me a "eh-heh-eh" before walking away. When I hail him again and ask him about the same he defends it with a ridiculously laughable justification of people not liking potato and chickpeas. The Mysore masala dosa was worse. A thin strange tasting crepe with too much potato filling, weird tasting coconut chutney and equally bizzare "sambhar". This was no authentic Mysore masala dosa. Will not be returning ever again.

One of my faves for delicious vegetarian food, also well priced, and so handy near Euston station. I dream about the poori especially, but also recommend the dosas and curries. Always a great meal at Ravi Shankar. The service has improved over the years as well, now much warmer and attentive.

A staple in central London :) a good standard south Indian and absolutely lovely staff who make you feel very welcome and cared for. Mum couldn't finish hers and they brought her a box and a little paper bag for the chapati

I love Ravi Shankar. Been so many times and never regret it. Beautiful paper-thin dosa, fluffy steaming idli, and wonderful pani puri.

I think this trades on its reputation from some time back. Service was slow. People serving weren’t that helpful. Food was nice enough. Plenty of better options around these days.

Great informal vibe, with bright colours - a bit like a student union games room. Friendly, chatty hosts, whose recommendations are not to be ignored - the thali was delicious and much more filling than expected (two of the four of us couldn't finish it). Healthy too. We'll be back.

The meal was disappointing -the rice was very dry and appeared to have been reheated possibly under a grill or with a blow torch. The salad minimal. Main curry tasted nice but had a substantial amount of potato in it. Dessert inedible -like an even sweeter version of Ambrosia creamed rice pudding . My main reason however for writing this review is to question how this restaurant can charge a service charge without any of this money going to the waiters who served us. We witnessed another customer offering to tip them directly only to be told by the waiter that they were not allowed to accept tips.

We went to this restaurant for a friends 30th birthday and the staff were making extremely vulgar sexual comments about our group of friends in sylheti thinking that we didn't understand what they were saying when some friends did understand. when we confronted them, they tried to pass it off as a joke and did not apologise but were instead shocked that we had understood what they were saying. we were extremely disappointed and disheartened by this experience and no accountability for mistakes were taken.

A friends birthday dinner was ruined by the sexist comments made by male staff members at this restaurant. They were all complicit in making my friends feel uncomfortable and consistently made misogynistic remarks throughout the night, thinking we won’t understand. They were speaking in the sylheti dialect. Once we called them out, they were more concerned about where we were from rather than addressing their remarks. Shameless behaviour. Avoid!

I came to celebrate my birthday with my friends and the men who were serving us kept making misogynistic comments about the women and non-binary people who were with me. They thought we couldn't understand as they were speaking Sylheti but at least two of my friends did understand clearly what they were saying. We then confronted them about it and they tried to change the conversation to where we were all from. There was no apology. They were more ashamed that we knew what they are saying. Shame on them!

We love the food here and it’s a regular place we come. Some staff consistently grumpy, others charming! Kofta this visit was very hard as was the vadai.

It's been ages since I was last here and the dosa didn't disappoint!

Pretty poor overall. A good indicator of a decent Indian restaurant is the Bhel Puri. This one turned up with very little potato, no fresh onion and tasted...old. the paneer kofta was bland (and there were only two koftas for the price). The Paratha had been sitting around: a proper paratha should be crispy, buttery and flaky. This was stale, and I couldn't taste any methi in it (I could see green bits in it, but it was bland). My wife's thali was average and overpriced. Lots of people seem to be loyal to this restaurant - it just felt like a restaurant resting on its laurels. Go to Diwana a few doors down. The food there is vastly superior.

Really not as good as I remembered it. Not exactly a warm greeting, but seated on a clean table. Ordered a few starters and 2 thalis. The food was lukewarm at best, not very tasty at all and it wasn't exactly cheap. So many better options in the area. Sad state of affairs for a once glorious restaurant. Drummond Street isn't what it used to be...

Warm cozy and cheap (if you dont have alcohol with your meal) vegetarian restaurant no meat served at all. I love Drummond Street its central London but its authentic and has not fallen to the developers yet. Theres something cozy about it. Your not far from Euston Rail station also.
