Rani Indian Restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne

OK food, OK service. Nothing special, but not bad! My dish (coconut chicken curry) was a little bland and salty, but the others were better. The service was generally decent, though we had to ask four separate times for water for the table, and they eventually begrudingly brought one small jug and half as many glasses as people, after we had been there an hour. We were all ordering purchased drinks too, so it's not like we were being cheap.

Lovely food at a reasonable price. A little spicier than I expected (Indo Chinese chilli chicken) but still thoroughly enjoyed.

First time here for a birthday celebration,Ordered popadom and dips ,butter chicken chicken buna,rice , sag aloo ,kneema nan,meal was okay, Still waiting for the sag a loo didn’t seem to know what this dish was ,wouldn’t recommend,the place, didn’t enjoy meal at all and it was over priced,had better .

Manager has a disgusting attitude towards the staff and he's such a two-faced creep,would never go here again.

Overall, I highly recommend Rani Restaurant to anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine in Newcastle. With their fantastic food, exceptional service, and dedication to customer satisfaction, it's no wonder they stand out as a gem in the city's dining scene. I'll definitely be returning for another culinary adventure at Rani.

Amazing food, great service from Mehek from this lovely family run restaurant. Believe me… I’m Indian and a foodie ! Chef Chand Singh is a true chef making the highest level of most authentic Indian food !

In Newcastle for a work trip and ended up eating at Rani, which ended up being a great choice. Food was great and the chef even did requests if there was something you wanted that wasn’t on the menu. Service was also great. Would definitely go back next time I’m in the area

Worst biryani ever, never will visit again

Really good food, mains of chicken dhabba and village chicken curry. My wife and I went on a recommendation from a pub close by. Waiting staff were great but...we arrived about 10:20pm, and they close at 11:30pm. What that means is that they want everyone out by 11:30pm. Immediately hassled for our choices. During our mains we had 3 separate staff asked if we had finished even though bowls were stilli half full, and a table of 4 had just been seated. Then they started hooveringaround us :-(. The curry was so nice and the waiting staff were polite but just not pleasant to have so many eyes staring at you.

Top notch scran, i am here for work and have been dining here past couple days. Food and service are great.

Visited Rani indian restaurant on Tuesday 14th November. We're 15 minutes late arriving due to transport problem but rang to advise. When we arrived restaurant was busy and were shown to a table in the back part of restaurant. Only one other table occupied and room felt cold . Asked for heating and small heater put on which helped but still cool overall. The service from Mia the waitress was very good and made for a pleasant experience. The food was excellent with generous portions and enjoyed by all 4 of us. Will definitely return.

Dined here last night, food was fantastic and and our server was helpful. They also done me a special curry off menu - props to chef!

Saturday i took my staff for a meal 2 of the meals were not nice the starters were fine, but the 2 main courses were disgusting 1 a chicken was so tuff and 1 a tiger prawn dish which was so spicy hot i just could not eat it we complained and the 2 dishes were removed from the bill we were not offered another meal to replace them so we did leave the restaurant a bit hungry i spoke to the manager again when i was leaving but he didn't seem to care just said i will speak to the kitchen it was a very disappointed night

This place is very busy. We arrived fairly early with no reservation, but waited about 25 minutes at the bar and got a table. Our server was incredibly friendly and made our dinner so much enjoyable. The atmosphere is so lively, with all the diners just having a fantastic time. We are no experts in Indian food, but enjoyed everything we had. Everyone we spoke to before our visit had heartily recommended Rani, and now we know why.

Have had the worst stomach for the last 2 days after eating here. The staff were great and the food tasted good especially the Aloo Tikki Chaat but there must have been some hygiene/food safety step missed somewhere as I'm still feeling ill. I can see from other reviews that it isn't a common occurrence but I won't be chancing a return.

We don't get to visit here very often, but when we do the food is always outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Food arrived on time, and it was piping hot. Had a Jheenga Chennai Express, It was yummy just the right spice strength. Highly recommend!

I ordered chicken tiki masala and found it almost like an Italian tomato sauce with chicken. I was disappointed. They also got my order wrong but that happens…the disappointment in the food is what compelled me to write a review as this is where I look to make decisions myself.

What a wholesome experience it was , Biriyani was just above the level of expectation, Mango lassi taste was so good with the perfect blend also the paneer tikka. Overall , Highly recommended to have a great Indian food which just takes back you to your home taste. Ambience and the staff was so friendly and welcoming.

We had a great meal. The decor was welcoming. We opted for a set menu which was good value for money. All the food was very tasty. The waiter Bobby was very friendly and attentive. We would highly recommend for a lovely authentic meal.

Had indian food after a whole month <3 Feasted with some delish naan and tandoori rotis accompanied by two spicy chicken sides, chicken banjara kebabs and galouti kebab! Missed chaas. The staff was friendly and exceptionally good! Loved both Bobby and Rani. Definitely visiting here again<3

I booked this restaurant online based on previous reviews, and I wasn’t disappointed. My wife and I had a lovely meal at Rani. All the staff went the extra mile, especially Bobby who organised a Punjabi sweet desert as it was my wife’s birthday. Thank you to all the staff for making this a great experience.

Starter was lamb with a cheese sauce, looks odd but tastes nice. My curry was indo-chinese chilli curry more Chinese style than Indian. Was ok, bit off an odd combination, but said 2 chilli hot but was very hot in parts. Week day so was quite, I was late getting in too. Service was brilliant thanks

The food was really good , I went with my friends and we had dinner at this lovely place . Being a Punjabi I was missing the food and i got what I was looking for . Everything was so fresh and flavours were damn good . Special thanks to the staff as they were very friendly and nice . I will definitely visit again whenever I come to Newcastle again.
