Visited Rani Restaurant last night, and it was an absolute delight! The food was rich in authentic Indian flavors, with the paneer tikka and lamb curry stealing the show. Me and my husband had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. We went after Arsenal's not so good game at Newcastle, so left at halftime. We were booked in with a party of about 12 of us for a later time but it was just us but it was no problem getting a table. The staff were lovely. We ordered our food and we didn't have to wait long and it was piping hot and delicious. It wasn't even a problem for them to put it in containers for us to take back as we were struggling to finish it. The portions were more than ample. Nothing to complain about. Our party turned up as we ready for leaving but the staff put 3 tables all together so we could stay in our group. Again not a problem for the staff. And we stayed a bit longer. So when me and my husband got back to our hotel he realised he had left his phone at the restaurant!! I kept ringing the restaurant as it had closed by then as it was gone 12 am. I eventually got through and spoke to one of the lovely waiters. Explained the situation and asked if we could pop in before we got our train. He said unfortunately they don't open until teatime, but bless his heart he asked where we were staying and he said he would get ready and fetch his phone to our hotel which he did!!! Honestly can't thank him enough for that, it was so kind. Overall our experience was second to none. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back again.

Really nice place in Newcastle for Indian food and lots of dishes, also a lot of vegetarian options what I appreciated. The quality of the food was really good and the prices as well. Truly recommend for a good Indian dinner experience with unique dishes.

Felt like throwing up after. Started had no flavor both curries had no flavor was pretty crap was a big mistake not going to the Raj. We heard bad things about Raj in recent years so didn’t go but regret it massively Raj is lush this was literally horrible

Best Indians I’ve had in the UK including top destinations such as Bradford and London. Should have been on Gordon Ramsays best Indian restaurants. Wouldn’t recommend anywhere else.

Being a big Indian food lover and trying all Indians in the north east, I have to say this is the best one so far hands down their curry the lamb mango has to be the best curry ever I have had, it was just spot on the flavours, the lamb pieces were tender and not hard chewy like some of the other places I have had lamb curries at, trust me when I say this I don’t write reviews that often but I just had to for this place I will definitely be recommending this to my friends and family and compliments to the chef, best fk lamb curry guys, see you again

Paid for upgrade of meats and naans didn't get them. We got a very dry chicken barely any curry sauce and a dry plain naan and wrong rice !!! Very disappointing

Me and my wife came here on the 3rd of January 2025 after reading the reviews, honestly, this has to be the best Indian restaurant in the whole of Newcastle!! We had their set meal for 2 , the starters were absolutely flippin delicious, the waiter also let us change one of the main course curries to a lamb one unlike other curry houses down London, the main course was spot on, the lamb was the most tender and juiciest I have ever had and we topped this off with their signature Gulab jamun , which the wife absolutely loved and she got an additional one to take out to eat at our hotel room. This place is number one for us now and tops all of the curry houses we have eaten at and we will definitely be coming back to Newcastle to just eat here

Nice Indian restaurant at a great location. Been travelling around Uk for a week and was craving some authentic Indian punjabi food and Rani restaurant did not disappoint. Had garlic naan along with dal tadka and paneer masala. Good serving size with authentic taste. Thanks for keep the restaurant open after 5:30 pm as most others close by then in the area. Side note: Our server , beautiful lady with glasses was prompt to attend to us. Thank you.

One of the best Indian Punjabi restaurant in the whole of the north east, I ordered their famous peanut chaat (big peanut 🥜 fan here btw 😅😂) and their samosa chaat 🤤 and chicken Dhabba and tandoori roti for collection on Thursday night. When I say this I mean it!!! absolutely delicious, the right spice in every dish the freshness in every bite, you can literally feel the ingredients explode in your mouth , this has been my go Indian since the new owners took over after covid, it is a 5 star from me and my family, no other indian in Newcastle can top this, this place is like a needle in a haystack absolutely a hidden gem!!! (Funny story - trying to find this place for the first time was very hard, but after knowing it’s opposite akenside traders , I always recommend this to all of my colleagues working in the courts, beers in akenside , curries at ranis , nothing beats it!!! Strongly recommend this place for anyone wanting authentic Indian food

I had dinner at Rani Restaurant the other day, and the first thing that caught my eye was the interior—it’s just beautiful. The wallpaper, the gold accents, and the little details like the fresh roses on the tables made it feel so elegant without being over the top. The soft lighting gave it a cozy and relaxing vibe, almost like you’ve stepped into a completely different world. It just felt really comfortable to sit there and enjoy the evening. I started with the papdi chaat, and it was absolutely bursting with Indian flavors. The tanginess, the crunch, and the perfectly balanced spices made it such a standout dish. For the main course, I had the chicken biryani, which was spot on. The spices were just right—not too overpowering—and the portion was perfect for me. What made the experience even better were the people working there. They’re so kind and welcoming, and I was pleasantly surprised to find staff speaking Hindi too, which isn’t that common in most restaurants around here, as many are either Pakistani or Bangladeshi-run. It made me feel even more connected to the 🇮🇳 experience. If you’re looking for delicious food that feels like home, paired with great service and a beautiful ambiance, Rani Restaurant is definitely worth visiting.

i ordered a takeaway to feed 3 people. we ordered 4 different curries, 2 portions of chips and 2 naan. the portion size was ridiculously small. the chicken tikka masala had 4 pieces of chicken in and the prawns were the size of shrimps. so many other places that are much more worth the money. £75 for a takeaway to not be full by the end of it

The food was delicious. Evrything just hit the spot. The staff is quite friendly as well. Loved every bit of it. The atmosphere was quite asthetic as well.

The food tastes good. They do prepare tasty dishes. The sad part was that they forced us to order everything at the beginning, which led us to over-order because we didn’t know the portion sizes. We requested to order the main course a little later, but they disagreed, stating they were busy. We couldn’t cancel it, so we had to take everything home. I still recommend this place because of the good food, but please be cautious while ordering. I felt it’s their tactic to make customers order more.

Although a quiet Monday evening. The service was excellent, very eager to please. The food was top class, all three meals were of a very high standard and they had their own taste and flavour i.e. their play on a traditional menu.

We had a great experience, when we arrived the service was top notch from the start. We we're pleasantly welcomed and had great papadums as a starter. We got amazing mango lassi's, very tastful. For the main course we had Chicken Mango and Lamb belly ram . Both were amazing and delicious. We highly recoommend this restaurant. From the service to the very kind staff and delicious meals, we give it a 11 out of 10!! Did I mention that we really recomend this restaurant?

Lovely restaurant; was struck by the unique items on the menu I haven’t seen at other Indians. Staff were welcoming and friendly, offering recommendations and checking up on us during the meal. They were incredibly accommodating to tight timescales. Will definitely be going back again to try all their different starters!

Had a great quality of time at Rani everything was good,staff was nice and humble the food was yummy and fabulous , worth spending your money over this place . I suggest to give it try place because of food quality and quantity can't even finish whole meal .

I am quite disappointed with my recent order. It arrived 20 minutes late, which affected my overall experience. I expected better timeliness, especially when prompt service is promised. I hope this issue can be addressed to improve future orders.

Terrible Experience - Total Waste of Money I recently placed an order for Chicken Dum Biryani, Chicken Tikka, and Pulao Rice, and it was an absolute disaster. The Pulao Rice was completely tasteless—literally just boiled rice with zero flavor. The Chicken Tikka was even worse—no taste at all, and the chicken pieces were so hard I could barely chew them. To top it all off, I spent £15 on the Chicken Dum Biryani expecting something authentic, but it was a huge letdown. It didn’t taste like biryani at all—bland, no spices, nothing. I’ve had much better for less money. This was a complete waste of £15. Never ordering from here again.
