Visited a few times now and back in the area for business 22nd October and this will be the last chance to keep me booking there. 1st visit really nice with really healthful staff albeit the room was a borderline health hazard - waited to get to the office to brush my teeth due to cleanliness of bathroom. 2nd visit (Room 223 on the corridor of Hell) - probably the noisiest room I have ever stayed in. The floor squeaked inside, outside the room and the fire door bangs through your the night with each and every hotel guest. The bathroom in this room had been updated, albeit not very well with dirty shower floor. This will be my last visit to decide if I will continue to book for the following 18 month of meetings in the area. The only saving grace is the bar area that is pleasant and the food is enjoyable.

Attended a conference at this place and it was ok. Some of the rooms were a bit dated and the maintenance which affected cleanliness in some areas such as toilets was questionable. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are good parking facilities and the conference facilities are excellent. Food was generally good. Location easy to get to from motorway.

We visited just one night and whilst our stay was comfortable a number areas in the hotel are tired. The room was was OK but the fixtures and in the bedroom are desperately needing an update. The bathroom appeared to have been recently refurbished and everything worked well in fact better than most hotels but the bathroom door was in need of a good clean and repaint. The pool area was OK but the pool water was extremely cloudy which suggests a lack of maintenance. Whilst staying I was requested to pay for any drinks etc rather than set up a tab which did paying for drinks and coffees however upon checking out I was asked to pay for beverages which I hadn't had and after several minutes of arguing was told I would be let off paying for this. This left me somewhat upset.

I thought this was meant to be an extremely nice hotel! For £110 for one night mid-week including one breakfast, I was quite disgusted! The bar and restaurant were extremely outdated and we decided not to eat there but go elsewhere outside of the hotel. We then returned to the bar area where a very drunken girl was wondering around being extremely loud and nothing was done. There was also a man in the bar banging his glass for hours, asking for drugs, shouting abuse and trying to actually climb the walls! Nothing was done about this until the bar was closing! The room was outdated, the TV only had 4 channels with a very poor picture. I ordered breakfast in the room which had been 'forgotten about' so I had to chase, it then came an hour late! Admittedly the breakfast was very nice when I finally got it! I won't be returning to this hotel.

So I came here for a wedding. At first glance the hotel looked amazing even had a lake right outside. The function room was so big even though the wedding was catered for about 200 guest and it still felt spacious. The staff was so organised and food came out in order plus with wine and champagne poured during our meal, food was enjoyable as-well. Really enjoyed it and wish I booked a room here as other family members did and they loved it. The only thing I didn’t like was how expensive the drinks at the bar was, just didn’t want to spend money there as it was nearly £10 for a double.

We checked in as a family of 4 and were directed to the out door section of the hotel which is given to families. I thought that we’d checked into a motel. It didn’t feel like part of the hotel at all. The room was large and very dark. 2 ceiling lights, 2 bedside lights and a lamp is not sufficient lighting for that size of room. Two windows that let in little light and small windows that opened. As we were there during the height of summer an electric fan was available to use but it didn’t give enough air for 3 beds and 4 people. So the room was very warm and uncomfortable during both night and day. The sink had taps that are very hard to grip and actually use and for the first 24 hours we had no cold water available in the wash basin. The hot tap in the bath leaked and a constant run of red hot water ran into the bath from the moment we got there till we left. I couldn’t grip the cold water tap in the bath due to its shape and because of the temperature of the hot water that had heated up whole tap set. There were cob webs and dead spiders near to the radiators and the carpet was sticky. The only member of staff that was approachable was the cleaning lady and she was happy to help. I told her about the very hot water problem and I asked her how she copes because surely she’d get burnt too when using the water to clean the bathroom. Overall my family and I would never stay there again. It’s a very tired room that needs brightening and freshening up. Front line service staff are not welcoming and when one member was queried for the cold water issue or fresh towels I was told both times that she didn’t have enough staff at that time to help me and she’d get back to me.

Overall, a very pleasant experience. Very large hotel building consisting of many rooms. Abundant car parking space. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The gym was the highlight of the stay as it was included with the package. Post workout, I was able to enjoy the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi until my hands wrinkled resembling an old mans elbow. The room was a decent size but seemed a bit dated with the wallpaper and overall decoration. The television was very small and was situated at the far end of the room so difficult to see. Housekeeping was amazing, they even bothered to neatly fold my underwear while I was at work which I completely did not expect, well done you guys! Biggest complaint about the room was that there were no sockets near the bed so couldn’t use the phone or laptop for too long in bed. Breakfast was satisfactory, everything was offered but didn’t really exceed my expectations although I did eat my fill. Managed to smuggle out a few nutella spread packets during check out. All in all, I enjoyed my time here and would come again!

To make thing worse there did not seem to be a stage. The group were at floor level and as people were dancing we had a great view of the top of 3 heads of the group of 4 singers. We felt the dance floor was not big enough for the amount of people in the room. This is not a good venue for more than 300 people to watch a show.

Booked this as my family was coming down from Eastbourne so I decided to stay with them. After looking at previous reviews I did not know what to expect but we all had a fantastic time. Ok so rooms are a bit dated and few cracked tiles but the rooms was clean and all staff was absolutely lovely. My advice is to ask if you can have a room with patio doors as its so handy if you smoke to pop out also the gardens and view of the lake when you wake up in morning is beautiful. (My only moan was to have a bin of some sort for all the cigarette butts as its a shame to see them all on the floor). We had 4 rooms and was put all in a row by the lovely Jess who handled all my queries, I cant thank her enough as we thought it would only be the family room with a view and patio. It was so handy if you have kids as they can just go outside and wander and are completely safe. Its also a bonus if you want to go to the shop as you don't have to keep going through the main reception. The patio rooms are also central to the leisure club which has a sauna, steam room adequate pool and Jacuzzi which is always a bonus. There are quite a few shops and a pub called The Fox that does a great carvery, its a 3 min drive in car or if you walk past The Mayfair Suite opposite there are some green gates you can walk through and the shops are a 10 minute walk. We had a few snacks in the hotel which was quite expensive, breakfast was the usual help yourself to hot and cold food which was delicious and all waiting staff very polite and accommodating especially Patrica and Donna. The hotels grounds are spectacular for walking round and there is a squash court. I would definitely recommend this hotel and my family will be returning in the summer. This hotel does great deals for Cadbury world and Drayton Manor. We all had a superb time and thank you again Jess and Emma at reception who was always ready to help with whatever you need. We also had mini afternoon which again was divine. As my heading says see for yourself, dont be put off by bad reviews of this hotel.

My partner and I attended an Elvis evening at Ramada Sutton Coldfield evening on Friday the 20th November 2015. This was the 1st of the Christmas parties the service we received from start to finish was first class the food that were severed were with such prosision no person had to wait for there food . At the end of the meals the Chefs came out and flambayed the Christmas Puds then the staff took them around the tables showing the customers before it was cut up and served with Brandy Sauce the management are a credit to this hotel training the staff correctly. The Tribute Artist was first class and the Disco brilliant the music was a good mix. We made a booking at the hotel to stay the night we stayed in Room 223 it had recently had a refurb and what a beautiful room it was the a Staff on Reception are 1st class's as are the Restaurant staff Barr staff and generally every member of staff there attention they give to he general public is of a very high standard. They have also decorated the reception for Christmas I believe a lady Called Donna did this her work is of a very high standard and because of this it looks so welcoming when you come into the Hotel. 2 weeks ago my partner and I attended a Dementia Awards Ceromy at the 4 star Metropol Hilton hotel near Birmingham Airport the service and food we had was no way as good as the service we received at the Ramada in fact it was a real let down. The a Ramada hotel for Service and Food alone deserve to be 4 star the rooms are having refurbishment and when they are complete it shall be outstanding. What the Ramada offers are good old fashioned service of days gone by they care about the customer and clearly put the customer 1st. The Gym at the Ramada is excellent and the Swimming Pool Divine. If you are looking for a good hotel with excellent service book this hotel and if you should be lucky enough to attend one of the tribute acts that the hotel holds you shall not be let down they are Truly Proffessional I believe they have a Shirley Bassey Tribute on New Years Eve this is an Event not to be missed if the event we attended is anything to go by. The tribute act that we had was a Gentleman called Kevin Paul he is as near to the real thing you shall ever get .

For people who are after a nice mid range hotel in a well presented landscape with good facilities this is the place for you. It offers, a basic, gym, a decent enough pool, sauna and steam room and free parking as standard. There is wifi in the lobby areas as free, but its a paid product within your rooms. The rooms themselves are decent enough with enough space and room to swing a cat. The place can at first seem like a bit of a maze, but I think that adds to the appeal of the place as it all depends on the kind of room you want. The only downside to the hotel is the fact that the on site bar / restraunt isnt great in terms of food nor value for money, compared to some of the fine dining options all within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. In terms of location, its fairly easy to find, in a nice quite residential part of Birmingham. Id say the city itself was a 20 minute drive without traffic.

We have frequented and supported this restaurant since it opened, however, never with our grandchild. On our recent visit, a very special occasion, our whole family attended to celebrate our son's departure to America. On arrival we told the waiter we had booked a table for 5 - he said that as the pushchair took up space we should have booked for 6. I told him that she was only 5 months old and was not eating - he said this did not matter as she took up space! The waiter was hostile and moved the spare chair from our table with speed to accommodate the pushchair. We felt unwelcome and in hind sight should have walked back out. The Manager said that he was only joking when we challenged him about his comments - however, I don't think he was. Our meal as always was very nice, however, due to the unfriendly hostile welcome I would in future choice an alternative establishment that welcomed children. Although Ramadan is a very nice establishment it needs to recognise that babies today are potential customer in years to come. Negative comments from customers can also tarnish business potential. A very sad and disappointed customer.

The TV was shocking with bad picture quality. All that said the room rate was cheap but even so I would not have paid a penny more.Think a massive overhaul of the family block needs doing a sap...not appealing at all and I would never stay here again unless it had a massive modernisation/updating.It is in a great position and really gave new hall a run for its money 15/20 years ago,but now I think travel lodge/premier inn could give this a run for its money.Staff were friendly and maybe they should tackle head office for the money to update the hotel.

When we pulled up we were quite, impressed with the the Hotel. This is where it ended young chap on the desk looked a little disheveled, he had a job finding our booking but after 10 mins it was sorted and gave us our room key, after quiet a walk we eventually found our room only for the room key not to work. trip back to reception key loaded again. Problem sorted we hoped yes that night but over the weekend we had to make several trips to reception when both our key cards failed time and time again. When we eventually gained entry room was dirty, wallpaper peeling, net curtain to small for the dirty window and door to bathroom broken and mold growing on the walls and ceiling just a few of the things we noticed. We decided to only accept this room as we were informed they were fully booked due to Rock/ country concert going on in the hotel. Later that night when we did get to bed we thought we were sleeping on boards the bed was so hard that after 2 nights my hip is quite sore. We were woken quiet a few times over the nights we stayed due to rowdy noisey unsociable neighbors that thought nothing of waking everyone one up at 2am and then needing no sleep again at 7am by opening there window to smoke and shout and laugh out loud at the birds in the trees. We had booked B&B and the breakfast was quiet nice and one night we stayed for dinner but for what they charged we were rather disappointed with the food and slow service. We decided to treat ourselves to the afternoon tea it was total waste of money choice of stale brown bread or white bread (not to sure if these were sandwiches left over from over peoples afternoon teas but they felt like it) scones were hard and Mr kiplins mini Victoria.sponges Save your money do not bother Unless this hotel gets a much needed refurbishment and better cleaners cobwebs and dirty windows are not a decoration we most certainly will look for some other chain of hotels when next we stay in the area

Stayed here on business for 1 night, thankfully it was only one night, really grubby, whole place needs a refurb.Bed dipped badly in the middle, so uncomfortable, bathroom just awful, long list of issues, old furniture. The side cabinet had dirt engrained all around rim, just vile. Iron, hairdryer good. Radiator didn't work, stuck on full heat, noisy. Changed rooms and next room, bed awful, dipped again! plus squeaky this time every time I moved, and guess what, radiator didn't work, this time not at all so cold room all night. Bathroom rad no controls, stuck on constantly and noisy. Shower was a trickle and either boiling hot or cold, honestly the place is like Fawlty towers! Breakfast dreadful, no plates for breakfast, no glasses for the juice, huffy waitress when asked for plates threw them in the plate holder to the astonishment of all waiting, chipped glasses when they did come, no sugar on table, worse coffee ever in any hotel, undercooked bacon, cheap sausages, list is endless. Staff obviously unhappy. Upon entering the hotel we were looked up and down by what appeared to be a female manager or assistant upon as if we had just come off her shoe! what was that all about! such a horrid atmosphere, everyone commented on all the same issues. Someone needs replacing if they think they are running this hotel to any kind of standards. Lunch, bread was stale, replaced. Only good points were dinner, it was delicious, and the only 2 members of staff with any customer service, young girl and an Asian gentleman in the restaurant.Honestly don't waste your money, we were so tired for our meeting the next day as we all terrible beds and rooms, you would be better off staying in your car, no joke!Couldn't wait to get home to a clean home and shower!

I stayed here for business for one night and the hotel needs a refurb. It is very dated and looks quite run down. The maze of corridors frustrated me just to find my room and when I finally got there it was very drab and run down. The tv did not work and the bathroom was horrible. For one night to get some sleep it does the job and the bed was at least comfy. I did have a burger and chips in the bar and it was actually very good, along with a lovely pint of Cobra. That said, I Will not be coming back here again.

My family and I went to the Ramada Hotel Sutton Coldfield for a surprise mothers day lunch, although it was very busy the service was pretty good but the food for me was a disappointment it was just barely warm and with very little choice of vegetables, I didn't want to complain as it was a surprise for me. The beef and gammon were very fatty and not the quality I would have expected from the hotel....I wouldn't go again have had better food from our local carvery.

I've stayed here a few times now on business, first impression was that the hotel is slightly old and dated, and it showed mostly in the corridors, however once inside the room, it was OK. Second visit was less enjoyable, was informed that there is no wi-fi in the rooms, and the customer service was a bit lacking in terms of not being very welcoming. Have just returned from a third visit I have vowed to never stay here again... the room was a good five minute walk up hill and down dale, through corridors that looked like they hadn't seen a lick of paint or a vacuum since 1970, net curtains on the windows were dull, dusty and gray, carpets were threadbare and the smell varied in each corridor from school dinner smell to nursing home smell to the corridor that my room was in which smelled musty and mouldy. This smell didn't disappear when I entered my room, it was dank and musty, really poor lighting made it feel dingy, it certainly didn't feel clean, in fact I opted to not take a shower as I wasn't sure I would come out any cleaner than when I had gotten in, pictures on the wall were scratched and actually had dirt marks all over them, nothing felt clean, so I have been left with a feeling of needing to get home and take a bath. Overall this was a really poor experience and I will definitely not be staying here any more.

We have been for a few afternoon teas recently including Laurent Perrier and the lounge in the cube Birmingham and we thought this was far superior in quality and service! It's pretty slim pickings for hotels in the Sutton Coldfield area but the Ramada was just fine. I was here for about 2 weeks and in that time, there was barely anything to complain about. My shower was freezing cold on the first morning but this was fixed for me that day.Ate here a few times and the food is nice enough.I pretty much got lost on a daily basis in the various corridors but it made for a little adventure. The hotel would definitely benefit from a refurb. No wifi in the rooms so that was a downside.Staff were great and very helpful everytime that I had any interaction with them.

Stayed here from a groupon deal at the weekend, just a one night stay with breakfast and afternoon tea included. We upgraded to an executive suite because that was all they had available for that weekend and the room was lovely! The bed was incredibly comfy and the bathroom was very modern and our view of the lake was very nice. Came here with my partner and my sisters family so 6 of us altogether. Check in was all great and the receptionist was really helpful when I had forgotten to print out my groupon confirmation. The spa facilities were nice enough, not as good as some of the other Ramada's I've stayed at but good for an evening swim. Then this is where the hotel falters, we went for dinner in the restaurant and didn't have the best experience. Firstly the food is very overpriced for what you get. The children s deal is great but the burger my partner ordered was exactly the same as the burger one of my nieces got except his was around £13 opposed to the entire children's 3 course meal deal only being £7. The Thai green curry I had was okay, the naan bread was not nice. The desserts were again not great, overall considering our meal came to £140 we were not happy at all with what we'd received. Also the service was pretty bad, the servers were constantly distracted by chatting to other members of staff and it felt uncomfortable to ask for their assistance!! Breakfast however was great, much better service and the food was really nice and a good selection. Would recommend for an overnight stay but just go out and eat somewhere else!!

I had emailed the hotel a few weeks earlier to book an afternoon tea with use of the leisure facilities. This was a deal that I found through KGB or NCrowd as they are now known as. Danielle who responded to me was very pleasant and friendly and responded to me quickly. We arrived on a Friday morning - plenty of parking available. Went to Reception and was directed to the leisure facilities and given a voucher for an afternoon tea. We were given a towel and keycard for the locker. The place was not too busy so we were able to enjoy the swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and steam room easily. We had a great time though I have to say that I found the temperature in the pool area to be on the cool side so couldn't really sit around for too long. The afternoon tea was served in the lounge/bar area of the hotel. It was lovely and consisted of 3 different sandwich fillings - ham, smoked salmon and cream cheese and cucumber. There was also a fruit scone with cream and jam and 3 different types of cake - fruit, lemon drizzle which is a favourite of mine and a small cream cake. All in all I have to say that we had a great time and would definitely go back again. It was a bargain at £20 for the 2 of us - all the staff that we had encountered were polite and friendly and the place was great. Keep up the good work!

I bought a voucher for afternoon tea and leisure facilities for two for £19, I believe afternoon tea for two is normally £20 so effectively you are getting a free spa day.Having been given towels we went to get changed. The lockers are operated with a card that you are given, and there were plenty, but not really enough benches to put you stuff on, but we managed. The pool area is spacious and warm so we sat and relaxed for a while, waiting for the pool to become less busy. It is a free-form pool and not really suitable for swimming in and most of the guests seemed to be the local pensioners so they just chilled out in the warm water, making it even harder to get a few strokes in! I found this a bit frustrating because they had no concept of anyone else around them. In addition they don't shower first they just get in so I think the staff should remind people to shower first - a disgrace in this day and age!The steam room was steamy but not overly warm, and very menthol to the point it was starting to sting my face and eyes. The jacuzzi was out of order. Everywhere was very clean. Overall I didn't find it a great spa experience.Afternoon tea was OK. The tea was served very quickly but the food took a while to come, so we had finished our drinks by the time it arrived, it could have done with being better coordinated. The sandwiches were acceptable, salmon, cream cheese, turkey, we ate the scones and had the other cakes boxed up to take home.Overall we went for the spa with the added bonus of the afternoon tea. We had an OK experience for the money, but won't be rushing back.

The Room (s)We arrived for a 2 night stay to be shown to Room 121, which as soon as entering , we were overpowered by the smell of damp, the bathroom was also extremely dated and grubby and there was another single bed as well as the double in a very small room leaving the space non existent. We subsequently asked to be moved and were duly accommodated in room 307 (i think) which although more spacious , however it again smelt of damp the shower would also not turn off despite 5 minutes of trying to turn the nozzle with a towel attached and putting all my weight behind it. We were again moved the next morning to a suite this again was bigger , had a better shower but there was still a smell of damp present. The StaffDespite all the problems with the rooms, we found the staff extremely helpful , they did what they said they would do and tried their best to accommodate our requests as swiftly as possible, I got the feeling that they are quite used to this type of thing. The hotelThe bar is fine, with a good choice of drinks , both alcoholic and soft, the breakfast was also not too bad a good choice and the standard was fine, again the staff in the dining area were extremely helpful and courteous... HoweverThe hotel itself is in a severe need of a refit, on walking around the hotel on Sunday morning it was plain to see why there was a damp problem, internally the carpets were threadbare paper and wood was coming away from the walls and the wheelchair lifts all seemed to be out of order, it is need of a complete re modernisation.Overall for the rate we paid £66.00 including breakfast you do expect a certain standard, even if that standard is Travelodge, or premier inn, unfortunately the Ramada fell well below even the budget hotel standards, which by the way was £40 for the nights we were there. If it wasn't for the staff, this hotel would have had a rating of POOR, its only the staff that elevated it to Average

Stayed for one night whilst attending a family funeral. Had a family room in the adjacent annexe on the ground floor which was absolutely fine. The room was very spacious with a double bed, a sofa bed and a single put you up bed. Large spacious bathroom which you don't usually get so this was a bonus. Not much wardrobe space for a family if staying for longer. Otherwise very pleased with this accommodation. Very quiet location as it was away from the main building and the car parking was ideal - plenty of room just alongside this annexe. Only had room basis so cannot comment on the breakfast but the dining room looked inviting. Would return.

We recently ate at this restaurant for a special occasion. We had a drink in the pleasant bar beforehand where there is ample indoor and outdoor seating. At our well-presented table, we found the waitress service friendly and attentive. Starters and desserts were all fine, around what you would expect for the price. The main courses, however, left something to be desired. Aside from the fairly spartan offering at the carvery, several members of our party were served inedible Gammon (extremely salty) and Sea Bass (tasted sour and "off"), ruining the experience for them. I wouldn't recommended it - there are several local establishments offering better value (and more reliable food).

Stayed last night for a family 21st birthday. We had booked a night through Hotels.com using rewards nights that I had built up over the last year. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We were booked into room 219. The room was in a very poor condition with brown patches around the ceiling lights where obviously there had been a water leak at some time. Just by sitting on the bed the springs creaked and groaned and was very uncomfortable. The room was a family room with an additional sitting room with 2 single beds, which is where our 14 year daughter was going to sleep. We opened the door and were immediately hit by the smell of stale cigarette smoke. The ceiling had huge patches of brown, again where water had leaked in. In our opinion this room should be condemned, closed and refurbished. We did get a positive response from the Front Desk manager when we asked to change our room. She managed to relocate us to a room for one in the annexe. Think this building was the original set for the 90's TV Soap. 'Crossroads.( It was set in The Midlands). However the room was OK with decent facilities. I stay in a lot of hotels on business and I can definitely rate this the worst. As a footnote I wonder if the room allocated was because I booked through Hotels.com using a reward night!!!!

Ramada were hosting a family wedding and so a lot of us decided to spend the night before at the hotel. It was terrible! Rooms are absolutely disgusting, they look like something out of the 1920's, very very dingy, don't look very clean, and just not comfortable at all. Bathrooms are just vile! For the price I paid, I was expecting something completely different. The TV in my room didn't work either. Oh and if you're thinking about having a shower, be prepared for water to go everywhere thanks to the lack of a shower curtain (and a curtain was lacking in most of my family's' rooms too. Staff are very slow and may even be thieves. My cousin put his iPod on the table and went downstairs to attend the wedding, when he came back to the room to collect his bags, the room had been cleaned, the bags were there, but the iPod somehow disappeared. I had noticed the toilet cistern not refill, and the following morning realised this was due to having no water in the room, besides a small trickle from the hot tap. When mentioning this to reception they said they were aware and maintenance were resolving that afternoon - I found this incredible! I can't believe the whole hotel was without, it would have been nice to perhaps of had a note under the door offering the use of shower facilities in another room or even the I house spa. I was treated to afternoon tea at this hotel in Sutton Coldfield and I am sorry to say that I was less than impressed... Firstly let me say that I very rarely leave negative comments, however I have to admit that the whole experience left me cold. I have enjoyed afternoon tea in a lot of places, but this has to be the worst by far, we were left waiting for service and although the actual tea was not bad, I felt it lacked in class and style. The tea service was a basic chuncky white affair and it was not the cleanest I have ever seen. The food was quite nice, I felt the egg mayonnaise was very sloppy and wet, whilst the cakes were a little dry and cloying (I am a pastry Chef) What annoyed me the most was the lack of any service, the staff looked bored and were more interested in a visitor they had who would seem to be a past employee of the hotel, she was greeted with warmth and care to the point where I think we were invisable, I normally would not comment, but it was so very obvious, yes I would have said something, but there was no one to comment to! Finally, the decor is very tired and worn and faded and I felt the whole room could have benefited from a really good clean. One positive to the whole visit was the lovely receptionist who was so polite and caring, as we were leaving the hotel was in receipt of a coach load of guests who swarmed the reception area, thus we were unable to thank her for her lovely attitude. I think the Management could benefit from checking out their competitors nearby who offer so much more...

Rooms are tired but clean unless you start looking in the nooks and cranny's. Paint work could do with a good wipe down and taps, light switches updating from the 80's. The worse thing for me was the bed. Cheap nasty mattress where you could feel every spring and NO mattress protector. The hotel inspector would not even sleep in it I'm sure. Doors should also be fitted with stoppers to stop hearing everyone's doors through the night closing. However on a positive note, the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and genuinely hospitable.

For Christmas day we decided to revisit the Ramada. Our immediate and extended family had all shared christmas days there in the past and we always had a great time. This year was a bit different it was just me, my better half and our four young children. We arrived a bit earlier than we were supposed to at about 11.30am but the staff welcomed us in and chatted with our excited children about everything Christmas related. The other residents that were enjoying a relaxing coffee seemed to welcome the whirlwind created by our little brood. Seated in my big arm chair i enjoyed the first festive tipple of the day as the staff continued to entertain the captive audience of our toddlers. After an hour or so of soaking up the atmosphere in the immaculate bar we made our way through to the main banqueting suite. Wow.. the whole room was filled with beautifully dressed tables, it felt really special and for my hard working wife it was just what she deserved, a hassle free day with just us and the children. The children's entertainer never stopped from 12 noon until we left at 5pm.The mid afternoon show that involved puppets and lots of laughter had all the children transfixed from beginning to end. A visit from Santa rounded of the proceedings to the children's delight. The food; I'll be honest, I don't go primarily for the food but what I did have was most enjoyable. Vegetables were served fashionably crunchy (how they should be) and the traditional turkey was to die for.. Whilst I remember, the absence of parsnips was a tiny disappointment. Cheeses, sweets oh and the chocolate fountain combined with fresh strawberries was a winner with all of us.The complimentary bottle of wine, fancy balloons for the children and a lovely waiter called Ben all contributed to what my boys call "the best Christmas ever"See you next year is all I can say.Thank you from the Carroll family

We attended a works Christmas party here and it was a fantastic night! Yes, the food was very average but so many other aspects of the evening made up for it, and to be fair, there must have been 200 of us in the room so this always results in below average food quality. It was edible with far too little gravy, that's as excited as I can get about it!The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff friendly, one of the few venue's I've attended where you get table service for drinks on a party night. I'm not one for "organised fun" but the singing contest to see which group could sing their verse of the 12 Days of Christmas loudest really got the room going. The disco was good fun, something for everyone through the night.I was gutted when I realised my taxi was outside waiting!

I stayed at the Ramada Sutton Coldfield for 4 nights as part of a business trip. Unfortunately, after the 1st night, I could not imagine how I could survive for 4 nights but unfortunately, work would not allow me to leave! The hotel is in an absolutely dire state! The rooms were old and dated, and I felt like I was being transported to my days as a university student! I changed rooms 3 times but failed to find an acceptable room. (Reasons for change: lukewarm water in the bath/shower, weird rusty smell in room, lights not bright/working properly). The furniture was aged and dated and in awful condition. The windows could not open properly, the heating did not work properly and the toilets looked like something that you'd see post-war! (All the pipes are visible!) It was not clean enough and housekeeping did not completely clean the room everyday. (Trash was left in the bin and not emptied, trash on the floor was not cleared) We were not treated particularly well as a business group. When we arrived we were told that the hotel was overbooked and therefore, all the members of our group was assigned twin rooms as opposed to the originally-booked double rooms. This seems awfully cheeky, as the business group would have presumably paid a lower rate. Moreover, all our dinners were catered by the hotel. On our first night, we had the worst dinner I've ever had in a UK hotel! We were given a private dining room in a building outside (can't remember the name). We arrived to 3 tables, which had no cutlery or glasses there! Dinner was served buffet style but there was only one choice: rice, steamed vege and what was supposed to be beef stroganoff. (I assure you, it was not stroganoff!). There did not even serve us water, and we had to drink out of plastic cups from a water cooler which looked like it had been there for a long time. We mentioned this to the staff that was assigned there but unfortunately, she was not helpful! They did cater to those with special food needs as there was a vegetarian and a vegan coeliac amongst us. We had arctic roll for dessert which looked like it came from an Iceland box!To give them credit, despite the awful and horrible meal, we complained to the manager and the next nights, we actually had cutlery, glasses with water and choices for our meal. Again, I deem the hotel to be awfully unethical to do what they did to us on the first night, almost like a scam of our business. It is only because we complained that we received adequate levels of service and food! There is also no working Wi-FI in the rooms, and only the bar! This is supremely unhelpful for those of us who needed to work in the evenings.Just be aware that there are many stairs and winding corners in the hotel. Whilst this may cause problems for people who need wheelchair access, it also causes problems for those of us with heavy luggage! I did not enjoy carrying my heavy suitcase up and down many flights of stairs just to get to my room. Be warned! There is a leisure centre which I did not have a chance to use, but apparently it was decent. Breakfast was also an acceptable affair, so it was not completely horrible!Overall, I did not enjoy my stay at the Ramada Sutton Coldfield. I certainly would not return nor recommend it to anyone. I have also made a recommendation to my organisation to check Tripadvisor ratings for hotels before booking them, as in this case, all the reviews are true!

I visited with work for a meeting and the staff were very helpful. There was a button in the meeting room to summon help - we didn't need to use it though! Lovely cake was served up with afternoon tea. The restaurant was gorgeous and a great choice of food.

I stayed at this Ramada hotel with my friends as we were going out that night. My first impressions were that it was a dated hotel. Once we have checked in with no issues, the hotel room wasnt as expected. It was very warm with no air conditoning, which made the night very uncomfortable. Overall not the best an I probably would not go again for the price paid

We stumbled across the restaurant at the Ramada Sutton Coldfield in Feb 2013, when we were looking to make a last minute Sunday lunch booking for 20+ people and have been regular diners for the carver ever since. The restaurant is open to non-hotel guests and offers traditional Sunday carvery (choice of 3 meats) and accompaniments as well as a choice of veggie or fish options. The food is always fresh, hot and good quality and the range of options for starters and deserts is excellent, catering for all tastes. The serving staff are friendly and accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. For families (such as ourselves) it is particularly good value with children under 12 eating for free. Even the adult set menu is excellent value at less than £17.00 for 3 course of just under £14 for two courses. The bar area is also very relaxed to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and coffee. I cannot recommend the Ramada enough for Sunday lunch. Highly recommended!

This hotel seems like its been stitched together from lots of different buildings, there's no uniform Interior design throughout. The room was clean and tidy. But was so far from reception upstairs then along a shabby old corridor down some more stairs into another building all together before reaching the room. The Swimming Pool was ok but needs some maintenance. Evening meal was very nice. But for the Price there are much better hotels in the local area. Great views and grounds but this hotel needs major investment and refurbishment urgently. 2 star hotel at best.

After reading reviews post-booking, I was a little apprehensive about this hotel. Still, my partner and I travelled down from the North West, and were relieved when we arrived. The staff were friendly from the off. We were checked in, offered information, and informed that we had been allocated a lakeside room. This was done efficiently. We arrived in our room and found it clean and tidy, with a lovely balcony view. After settling in, we ate afternoon tea, which was lovely. We made use of the pool, sauna and jacuzzi; all included in the room rate. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was nice. Again, the staff were polite and friendly. The following morning, we enjoyed breakfast, choosing from a wide selection of fruit, cereal, pastries and hot food. Our trip was thoroughly enjoyable. Please make up your own mind before listening to some of the reviews here. A fussy but fair traveller!

I came to ramada hotel at Sutton coldfields after booking a 'relaxing luxury spa hotel break' on living social. The deal included standard room for 1 night, afternoon tea, breakfast & spa passes. On arriving at the hotel it was obvious the staff were having problems as many in front of us waiting to book in had been waiting for their room to be ready for over 2 hours. However we were booked in & given our room. The rest of the reviews on trip advisor regarding the decor & cleanliness are all true, the hotel is tired & in need of a makeover. Also the places is like a rabbit warren - corridors!! We visited the bar & ordered a leffe, disappointed to be corrected by the barmaid on my pronunciation of the Belgian beer. She pronounced it lef A - really, I like my beer & I am educated enough to know the difference between Flemish & French ! Totally disgusted even if I had been wrong that the customer service at this hotel is so so poor. So we went back to our room, checked the voucher & realised it included afternoon tea & thought we would brave the corridors again to ask reception how we get these 'perks' The 'spa' is closed until Wednesday but we can use the pool & sauna at the leisure center. The afternoon tea - turns out that that also is our fault as their booking system didn't realise we had a living social voucher. Again excellence in customer service. We are eating out tonight but will report back on the breakfast. Please don't come here unless you have a very good sense of humour & not easily offended.

We stayed here on 11th May 2013. Valentines treat from my husband. We had a WOWcher deal here which included B & B and afternoon tea. Checked in fine, rooms was a litte hard to locate (hotel is a bit like a maze!). room clean but very tired. Afternoon tea took a while, we were sat there for a good 10 minuetes befor ethe pot of tea arrived and then anout 15 mins until the sandwiches and cake come (was very nice though). We then used the leisure facilties which were very nice. The hotel was very busy so at breakfast we had to wait 10 mins for a table, once seated the breakfast was lovely (only downside for me was the sausage - whats wrong with good old Pork!!) All in all a nice hotel, nice staff, nice food, but the whole place good do with a good re-dec.

Ramada used to be one of the better names in the hotel business. This one is faded glory of former days. Whilst being adequate there are many signs of tiredness - all the usual things like carpet held down with duct tape, grubby bathrooms and carpets etc etc. we have probably seen it all before. On the plus side the service was good and the staff civil. Prices not too bad and food reasonable. For £54 a night it was adequate.

The Ramada (Sutton Coldfield) supported Hospitality Action in donating a Family Members lunch for our retired beneficiaries from the industry many of whom worked in hotels and restaurants. The lunches give retirees the opportunity for a day out and the chance to meet up or make new friends and help against social loneliness and the Ramada certainly did a great job. 25 of our retirees were greeted by friendly smiling staff and seated in the lounge with a welcome drink while we waited for everyone to arrive. The staff then happily escorted us all into the dining area without any fuss and to top off what was already a lovely atmosphere the chef served us with a sumptuous lamb steak and a delicious halloumi dish for the vegetarians and a superb dessert to finish. Everyone commented on the excellent quality of food, that was served hot and how well they were looked after. I know that the memories of how special they were made to feel by all the staff will stay with them for a very long time.

Beautiful pub in a lovely location, sadly the bar person lacked friendliness and good customer service skills. We were made to feel unwelcome. We attended on Thursday afternoon.
