Vinimos a cenar como un placer y estábamos muy impresionados con la comida. nuestro servidor era educado y la comida era simplemente increíble, yo y mi marido volveremos de nuevo para más!

Gran experiencia de lunes a la hora del almuerzo - excelente opción de menú y ales reales, gammon y lasaña particularmente bueno! El servicio era muy bueno también 👍

Excellent food and drink at fair prices and fantastic staff .

We had gone for the Burns Night event and it was fantastic! We had a three course Scottish-inspired meal, a live bagpipe show and a complimentary shot of whisky. It’s safe to say a tradition was born, I highly recommend this place! P.S - I hope the berry & mascarpone tart makes a return

Went to the Burns night. Very friendly and good atmosphere. Good choice from the set menu. Enjoyed the piping in of the haggis.

Fantastic friendly pub! Has a traditional cosy feel in the front with an open fire! Then a nice restaurant out the back with reasonable prices and nice food! Third Tuesday of every month is the pub quiz and we had a great time! Really recommend this place and the owners are very friendly!

He estado viniendo aquí por más de veinte años, de hecho, tuve un delicioso desayuno aquí esta mañana, una fabulosa cena la semana pasada y un almuerzo encantador la semana anterior. Para esta reseña me centraré en mi comida festiva con amigos. Por casualidad, el día de mi cena festiva también estaba allí para almorzar, así que había visto las maravillosas decoraciones navideñas, incluidos los encantadores ajustes de la mesa. Nuestra comida (todos habíamos pedido la versión de dos platos) estaba exquisitamente presentado y era de la más alta calidad. Se me escapó el nombre de nuestra servidora de mesas pero recuerden que es una estudiante universitaria de fotografía. Era una delicia. Qué toque encantador para ser servido con muy buena casa - hizo pasteles picados. Solía cruzar la ciudad todos los sábados para venir al Toro y Carnicero así que mudarme de Cheylesmore a Keresley tenía sentido. Es genial tener un local tan bueno e independiente.

Great service lovely atmosphere

Went for xmas dinner today with my family. Straight away, the service was amazing. We had drinks offered as we sat down, were served our courses on time. Altogether there were 5 courses all perfectly balanced and plentiful. Anything we couldn't finish was immediately put into boxes for us to take home. We felt like we were treated like family. The ambience was festive, beautifully decorated restaurant with such a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere. The place was full without feeling cramped. Altogether we couldn't fault it. Well done Bull and Butcher for making our xmas lunch an unforgettable experience. Thank you and we will see you again next christmas! X

Hermosas decoraciones festivas y la comida era preciosa muy buen valor y nos lo pasamos muy bien. Pequeñas pedacitos sorpresa lo hicieron especial y atender a las alergias de mis hijos para que no se quedara fuera estaba por encima y más allá : ) mi única queja fue que confundieron nuestro entrante y no corrigieron esto en una orden que su miembro del personal anotó. Sin embargo, sin duda volveremos de nuevo y solo tendremos que tener más cuidado de revisar el pedido antes de que se confirme. En general muy feliz gracias y feliz Navidad

We are a large group of friends and we had a lovely Christmas meal here yesterday. The decorations are beautiful, all of us enjoyed our meals and the staff were great so pleasant, efficient and hardworking 🎅🏼

Great traditional pud, great open fire:)

Éramos un grupo de 15 para un almuerzo de Navidad. Algunos tenían pavo, otros salmón y otros carne de res. Todas las comidas estaban calientes, bien presentadas y deliciosas. El personal era amable y eficiente.

Tuvimos un excelente almuerzo de Navidad , la comida estaba cocinada en casa , pequeños extras como pasteles picados y tarjeta de Navidad hicieron de esta una experiencia encantadora recomiendo a fondo

I went with friends for the festive meal. Service was warm and excellent, food great and reasonable priced. Definitely would go again.

Staff where friendly and the order for food and drinks was taken in good time. Starters where very nice and presented well. Mains arrived again well presented. Did as for brown bread with the stew but was told there was non even thought there was brown bread on one of our Starters. It was a little on the cold side in the restaurant, radiator where not on. Over all I would go back.

241202 Still a great pub & restaurant. I had a Quorn, yes Quorn, Shepard's pie with some vegetables. It was delicious. Good texture a flavour. Followed by a rhubarb an raspberry frangipane with some pouring cream. Yum! All washed down with a pint of Butty Bach ale. I'm always amazed that the smaller establishments cater for vegetarians better than their larger competitors. I'll certainly return since there's a few more meals I want to try. p.s. Someone spent a great deal of time decorating the place with seasonal adornments. Looks fantastic. ------------------- Lovely traditional pub and restaurant. Two roaring wood fired on the go. Great tasty veggie food with nice ales.

Went yesterday 30th Nov lunch time ,with my MCHUGH family ,so good company .On the aproach outside, the Christmas decorations are amazing ,so inviting .The decorations inside are beautiful ,a real christmas atmosphere. the lunch for all 7 of us was lovely. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.The resturant was warm and cosey .Iwould definately recommend anyone to go , We will I know .

We came for Christmas meals. Food was a really delicious 😋 and beautiful atmosphere with pretty decorations mixed of modern and traditional. Prices were very good value for their quality of food.

The worst Bonfire event I've ever been to. Absolutely no limit whatsoever on the amount of people they let in. Queue over an hour long for a drink or toilet. Couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Couldn't even leave when it became unbearable in there because all roads in and out were blocked. I will definitely warn everyone I know about ever setting foot in there again.

No idea what the pub is like, because we never even made it inside on Bonfire Night! The most disorganised and dangerously run event I’ve ever seen. The event caused havoc in the local area, all roads closed and rammed with traffic for hours, people rammed in like sardines, with queues miles long, and yet they were still letting more people in!! Complete profiteering at the expense of safety. Never again. No doubt the local authority will be knocking on their door shortly to make sure they never do another one again.

Great cosy place to have a few drinks and some food. The service is excellent, as soon as you approach the bar, someone is on hand to serve you straight away. They even know what order to serve you so there isn't any confusion about who is next. Drinks are reasonably priced with a good few ales on tap. Dog friendly and lots of people bring their dogs with them. Highly recommended.

We are local and never been. We had family visiting us who can only eat guten free, all food was amazing!! Kids enjoyed the large burgers. Well done too all!!

The Bull & Butcher is a beautiful country pub in a lovely setting. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there is a good choice of food on the menu including vegetarian and vegan options. It is a good place for children too. Outside there is a field in which there are donkeys, looked after by The Bull & Butcher. It has a tendency to be historic with the lovely interior and exterior layout. All good fun and worth a visit particularly with what arrived in the car park today. Look at our photos! By the way, it is advisable to ring and book a table!

Nice fish but wished I'd not gone for the small portion. Nice real ale.

Proper old fashioned drinking pub at front and fab dining area at back. Sunday carvery was excellent and very generous helpings and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Really good lunchtime pub meal in a lovely setting and nice staff

Cold chips tinned ham horrid egg, my daughter had a burger which tasted like a funfair burger van lump of grease. Needed a fly swat. Not once was we approached to ask was the food ok. We both left our food barely touched. We'd driven 4hrs and had another 3 hours drive so decided to stop off. I don't recommend the food in this establishment 😳

Así que sentí que me estaban llamando mentiroso y me sentí muy ofendido por eso. No poder meter tu tenedor en ellos fue un regalo Las verduras también eran muy al dente. Seguramente un chef debería ser capaz de hacer lo más básico como cocinar patatas y verduras bien. Reemplazaron las patatas por patatas fritas herbie, y el pastel estaba bien, pero más bien en el lado grande. Sin embargo, el pastel y las patatas fritas no eran apetitosos, y no podía comerlo. Así que un desperdicio de 14 libras. 50 . Me temo que no volveré.

My favourite place to go out for a meal and drink. First class all round. Great friendly, helpful staff. They are all fabulous. The meals are always cooked to perfection Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Nice sandwiches and lovely proper country pub

I used to come all the time when I was younger, so it was great to see that it’s still going. Food is good, drinks are good, choice is great, but service is VERY POOR. Plates and bottles left out on the tables since I arrived 2 hours ago. Young guy working outside, has been fab, but the rest, not doing too much. Improve the service and the stars would go up.

Attended a wake, and the pub was packed. The buffet was near the bar, but not separate from the other customers. Staff friendly and coped very well under pressure. The buffet was particularly good if you were a meat eater but not many vegetarian items, but the fries were very nice. The quaint pub is set in lovely country.

Lots of space good service social distanced. Not so many options. Lovely ploughman's and plenty for grand kids to do

Message Absolutely beautiful flower display , however the food especially the plough mans lunch definitely is to be avoided it was Terrible for the price and the bread roll was still frozen solid in the middle and the rest was ‘passable’ sorry just had to be said … it was sent back and at least this time the bread roll was eatable……really disappointed….😡😡😡👎

Full English spit on and plenty to go round

The staff were very attentive but not pushy. The food was as usual very good. The beer was well kept. This comment was from a previous visit but it is still true.

After walking our dogs nearby, decided to drop in for a quick drink with the wife. As we had the two dogs with us, on getting to the doorway, I asked the barmaid if it was ok to come in with them - it seems she was far too busy with a magic card trick to bother with us and it was actually a local guy who said all was good! The place was basically empty so we could sit where we wanted. Got served by a very nice lady who came through from the back bar, she obviously didn’t want to disturb David Nixon’s protege! Had the beer but only stayed for one to get home for the England game - so gathered up the dogs, glasses and crisp packets to take back to the bar to save someone a job. Said goodbye and thank you, not even a response at all from the pseudo magician - not sure I’ll be back with this attitude.

First visit to this pub and will not be the last. What a lovely friendly place. Smile and welcome as soon as entered the door. Lovely atmosphere clean and welcoming. Food was excellent. Staff friendly.upon leaving staff said thank you for coming and good bye even the other people in the bar said good bye.

Fabulous stop over with campervan I can't recommend it enough great food very friendly and set in a beautiful place .

Awesome country pub limited menu and slow forgetful service had to ask 2 people to order another round of drinks to the table not great when you have young children.

Homemade lasagne not very good melted cheese on top of sloppy joes (mince beef and tomatoes). No herbs garlic, onions etc. Disappointed. The salad that came with meal on same plate had not been washed properly I could taste mildew on the leafs. Chips not peeled. Too many short cuts.

Second time ive been here for the Sunday lunch and second time ive been disappointed. The system they use to keep the food hot, doesn't seem to be doing the job. Cold veg and stuffing, luke warm roast potatoes. Had to ask if they could heat it up in the microwave.

We visited as a family on a hot & sunny bank holiday Sunday. The food was alright but there were no umbrellas on any of the outdoor tables, slow bar service (no table service outside when dining, the outdoor table numbers are unused) and no bank holiday celebration that we've come to expect from the bull & butcher (we've previously had bouncy castles or outdoor bars).

Dissapointing drink, the Guinness quite acidiy and snack on Sunday, cheese baguette using grated cheese which fell out, hardly any onion with too much salad. The oafish behaviour of a couple in the snug all in all made our usually pleasant visit quite unbearable 💔

First time we’ve visited this pub. Very attractive from outside with well tended flower tubs. Our server was very pleasant and polite and gave us a choice of tables. Quite a long wait for our food even though it wasn’t particularly busy. My meal was described on the menu to come with dauphinois potatoes, which I assumed would be served in a creamy sauce; but it was just a block of sliced potatoes.no sauce. Quite a small piece of chicken but the accompanying mushrooms were good.. I thought the price , ( over £16 ) a bit on the steep side. Overall not an unpleasant experience but the prices charged were a bit expensive.

Been here many times and never had a bad meal so we booked a table for 9 for mother's day when booking i asked if it would be a set menu and was told no it would be normal menu but carvery would close at 5pm. On arrival today we sat down to see that it was a reduced menu with minimal options. When I questioned this with waitress she couldn't apologise enough. We went on to order our food with the majority having the carvery which to our surprise was open and the rest of us ordered what we could off the the reduced menu, when we started to eat the carvery it was cold which then put a dampner on everyone's meal. I asked to speak to the owner she came over a said that she could see no problem with carvery as that she had just had one, i got the sense that she wasnt interested and really didnt want to do anything for us, she then went on to tell me to write a review on Facebook in which I replied I would put a complaint rather than a good review, she then suddenly asked what I wanted her to do I replied that's your choice in which she then said she would give us a discount. The amount of excuses that she came out with was ridiculous, at the end of the day all food should be served hot and no excuses made , we most probably will return as hopefully it was just a one off. Big shout out to the waitress MICHELLE she was absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us

Great minted lamb pie with mash and mushy peas, Butty Bach was excellent.

Lovely old pub with good food and a outside seating a play area for kids

Went here for lunch after a walk. We had excellent food and excellent service even though it was exceptionally busy. I had fish and chips which were the best I've had for some time. All washed down with Abbott Ale which was equally good. We will return and we can highly recommend.

Been here many times . Breakfast and Sunday lunch. Both are plentiful and tasty. Would recommend a visit.

What a disgusting and worn down place! Avoid!

We were excited to see the return of the sausage and mash. Last winter it was served with spring onion mash (as advertised on menu today) and a bacon and pea veloute. This year it was sausage, plain mash, far too many peas and a boring gravy, no greens. I had the lambs liver it was ok. The advertised bacon wasn't crispy and fatty.

What a fantastic pup me and my family have been going here for 20 years, plus it's a great atmosphere. It's in a lovely countryside setting. The food is amazing. I can honestly say it's the best burger I have ever eaten. The meat was packed full of juices, flame grilled, and tender meat. My grandad had the beef lasagna he said it was absolutely amazing. everything is homemade and fresh. The staff are wonderful, great service. 5 stars all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ would definitely always come here.

Very busy and good buzz. Food Is quite good especially for meat eaters but I wasn't keen on processed sausage option for veggies, but dogs were grateful having waited in thr car ! Service excellent with lots and lots of staff.

Had a family and friends 3 course festive meal here today, there were 8 of us altogether and we all had a lovely experience, the food was awesome, great friendly service and at £25 a head brilliant value, a big thank you to all the friendly staff that waited on our table, we shall be back in the new year.

Went tonight first time for quite a while but was disappointed with the food quality. The lamb pie was minced up lamb very grainy used to have it before and it was lovely tender pieces of lamb. My wife had the lamb shank which was quite chewy. Did give feedback to the server but got nothing back. Won’t be going again Red Lion down the road much better.

Very nice Sunday roast, but the seats in the snug were poorly repaired and needed replacing.

Good food and beer, service was a bit of a job. Go to one place to purchase food, another for drinks then collect from a different part of the pub so had to queue up in 3 locations, not good.

Been a few times on different days at different times and always had great food and customer service.

What a great meal we just had, not been before but would come again, but far from Australia though! 😂 The young girl serving us was great, orders came out in good time and all correct. The Gammon Steak was gorgeous with pineapple done on the Griddle, fabulous. I could see that other people around us were pretty happy with their night also. Good prices, great food and top service. Well done Team!
