Nice place with a relaxed vibe and I was expecting great things! Ordered the double bacon and cheese burger it came out on a dry bun! No salad or sauce just meat and bread and it absolutely cremated and tasted vile! I tried to eat it but couldn't stomach it! Such a shame! If they invested in a few decent chefs this place would be great it has the potential! To burn a burger like that and send it is insane

After walking our dogs nearby, decided to drop in for a quick drink with the wife. As we had the two dogs with us, on getting to the doorway, I asked the barmaid if it was ok to come in with them - it seems she was far too busy with a magic card trick to bother with us and it was actually a local guy who said all was good! The place was basically empty so we could sit where we wanted. Got served by a very nice lady who came through from the back bar, she obviously didn’t want to disturb David Nixon’s protege! Had the beer but only stayed for one to get home for the England game - so gathered up the dogs, glasses and crisp packets to take back to the bar to save someone a job. Said goodbye and thank you, not even a response at all from the pseudo magician - not sure I’ll be back with this attitude.

First visit to this pub and will not be the last. What a lovely friendly place. Smile and welcome as soon as entered the door. Lovely atmosphere clean and welcoming. Food was excellent. Staff friendly.upon leaving staff said thank you for coming and good bye even the other people in the bar said good bye.

Homemade lasagne not very good melted cheese on top of sloppy joes (mince beef and tomatoes). No herbs garlic, onions etc. Disappointed. The salad that came with meal on same plate had not been washed properly I could taste mildew on the leafs. Chips not peeled. Too many short cuts.

Second time ive been here for the Sunday lunch and second time ive been disappointed. The system they use to keep the food hot, doesn't seem to be doing the job. Cold veg and stuffing, luke warm roast potatoes. Had to ask if they could heat it up in the microwave.

Friendly service but food is barely average and drastically overpriced. Won't be going back for absolute certain

Had a meal while the kids played, food was nice and served quickly. They even have some pods for when the rain decides to ruin the sunshine 👍👍

We visited as a family on a hot & sunny bank holiday Sunday. The food was alright but there were no umbrellas on any of the outdoor tables, slow bar service (no table service outside when dining, the outdoor table numbers are unused) and no bank holiday celebration that we've come to expect from the bull & butcher (we've previously had bouncy castles or outdoor bars).

Dissapointing drink, the Guinness quite acidiy and snack on Sunday, cheese baguette using grated cheese which fell out, hardly any onion with too much salad. The oafish behaviour of a couple in the snug all in all made our usually pleasant visit quite unbearable 💔

First time we’ve visited this pub. Very attractive from outside with well tended flower tubs. Our server was very pleasant and polite and gave us a choice of tables. Quite a long wait for our food even though it wasn’t particularly busy. My meal was described on the menu to come with dauphinois potatoes, which I assumed would be served in a creamy sauce; but it was just a block of sliced potatoes.no sauce. Quite a small piece of chicken but the accompanying mushrooms were good.. I thought the price , ( over £16 ) a bit on the steep side. Overall not an unpleasant experience but the prices charged were a bit expensive.

Been here many times and never had a bad meal so we booked a table for 9 for mother's day when booking i asked if it would be a set menu and was told no it would be normal menu but carvery would close at 5pm. On arrival today we sat down to see that it was a reduced menu with minimal options. When I questioned this with waitress she couldn't apologise enough. We went on to order our food with the majority having the carvery which to our surprise was open and the rest of us ordered what we could off the the reduced menu, when we started to eat the carvery it was cold which then put a dampner on everyone's meal. I asked to speak to the owner she came over a said that she could see no problem with carvery as that she had just had one, i got the sense that she wasnt interested and really didnt want to do anything for us, she then went on to tell me to write a review on Facebook in which I replied I would put a complaint rather than a good review, she then suddenly asked what I wanted her to do I replied that's your choice in which she then said she would give us a discount. The amount of excuses that she came out with was ridiculous, at the end of the day all food should be served hot and no excuses made , we most probably will return as hopefully it was just a one off. Big shout out to the waitress MICHELLE she was absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us

Great minted lamb pie with mash and mushy peas, Butty Bach was excellent.

We went back to use vouchers. Food great and beers also service great. Thanks. We'll be back.

Lovely old pub with good food and a outside seating a play area for kids

Went here for lunch after a walk. We had excellent food and excellent service even though it was exceptionally busy. I had fish and chips which were the best I've had for some time. All washed down with Abbott Ale which was equally good. We will return and we can highly recommend.

Been here many times . Breakfast and Sunday lunch. Both are plentiful and tasty. Would recommend a visit.

What a disgusting and worn down place! Avoid!

We were excited to see the return of the sausage and mash. Last winter it was served with spring onion mash (as advertised on menu today) and a bacon and pea veloute. This year it was sausage, plain mash, far too many peas and a boring gravy, no greens. I had the lambs liver it was ok. The advertised bacon wasn't crispy and fatty.

What a fantastic pup me and my family have been going here for 20 years, plus it's a great atmosphere. It's in a lovely countryside setting. The food is amazing. I can honestly say it's the best burger I have ever eaten. The meat was packed full of juices, flame grilled, and tender meat. My grandad had the beef lasagna he said it was absolutely amazing. everything is homemade and fresh. The staff are wonderful, great service. 5 stars all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ would definitely always come here.

Very busy and good buzz. Food Is quite good especially for meat eaters but I wasn't keen on processed sausage option for veggies, but dogs were grateful having waited in thr car ! Service excellent with lots and lots of staff.

Had a family and friends 3 course festive meal here today, there were 8 of us altogether and we all had a lovely experience, the food was awesome, great friendly service and at £25 a head brilliant value, a big thank you to all the friendly staff that waited on our table, we shall be back in the new year.

Went tonight first time for quite a while but was disappointed with the food quality. The lamb pie was minced up lamb very grainy used to have it before and it was lovely tender pieces of lamb. My wife had the lamb shank which was quite chewy. Did give feedback to the server but got nothing back. Won’t be going again Red Lion down the road much better.

Very nice Sunday roast, but the seats in the snug were poorly repaired and needed replacing.

Good food and beer, service was a bit of a job. Go to one place to purchase food, another for drinks then collect from a different part of the pub so had to queue up in 3 locations, not good.

Been a few times on different days at different times and always had great food and customer service.

What a great meal we just had, not been before but would come again, but far from Australia though! 😂 The young girl serving us was great, orders came out in good time and all correct. The Gammon Steak was gorgeous with pineapple done on the Griddle, fabulous. I could see that other people around us were pretty happy with their night also. Good prices, great food and top service. Well done Team!

Visited here for a birthday and couldn't have had better service. The ladies were all very friendly and happy to help. The food was nice and came very quickly. Would definitely come back again. Not 100% sure about the park outside. The swings were a hazard in all honesty with them swinging side to side and close to the wooden beams. Besides this, the rest was okay.

Been here before and always enjoyed the food and service. Atmosphere really relaxed in the country side which you can look out on. One thing spoiled it last night 2nd August. Lots of shouting from a group of people in the bar, got too loud. Would of stayed longer and got an Irish coffee after our delicious profiteroles. Such a shame... however, we will go again and hopefully just a normal noise level from the bar. ( I thought it was an argument going on)... Great place folk...😁👍👍

Great little pub away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. It can get busy at times but always plenty of seating. Great little play area for the kids and have been coming here for a number of years.

Excellent menu 😋 fair prices. The landlady Ann kindly allowed us to stay in the car park with our 3 campervans for the weekend. Will be back. 😀

The pub looks beautiful at the moment, with the amazing flowers all around it. Really the most lovely time to visit. Sunday carvery was tasty and the pie of the day, lamb and mint was great. We managed to sit outside and the staff were really friendly too!

We were a party of six who met up at The Bull and Butcher. I booked a table by phone and spoke to a member of staff straight away. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Food was good and we didn't wait long for it to arrive. This pub has a great atmosphere and is a nice place to meet up with friends. It's a lovely place for children too. There is a play area and, at the rear of the pub there is a field where there are donkeys and ponies. The landlady of the Bull and Butcher is a very thoughtful person because some of the donkeys and ponies have been rescued and now have a cared for life. Thank you Bull and Butcher, we shall be back!

Had breakfast with family. Very welcoming nice hot coffee and an excellent full English. eggs done perfectly and runny yolk, bacon nice and thick, chunky sausages, nicely done black pudding crispy hash brown, tomatos beans mushrooms toast and deliciuosly done fried bread and to top it off free coffee refills. will be back

This is a fantastic place to meet up with friends for a drink and a bite to eat, decently priced, with a good sized menu and attractive offers throughout the week. We can particularly recommend the burgers 🍔 👌, doesn't matter which one, they are all good, it's nice and clean with a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff are always happy to see you and help wherever they can xx

. A fair review. Went on mother's Day they were running late spent the whole time rushing us to catch up. seated almost half an hour late. For what was meant to be an hour and a half booking. We were just over an hour. After numerous staff telling us we were on a timer numerous times. I explained we were late seating. And they said we know but still kept asking. Just sent different staff members. One member of staff even tapped her watch. Food was reasonable for price. I wouldn't go back but if on a normal day you probably wouldn't have receive the service we did. I would avoid any special occasion unless they extend they time. An hour and a half is not long enough and if they are running late u end up being very rudely rushed.

What can I say. Food was excellent. Generous portions and very tasty. Our only gripe was the fact on a table of 6 two had carvery the rest ordered off the menu. The carvery arrived a good 20 minutes before the menu items. So the two eating carvery ate while the other 4 sat and watched. A little training needed to get all the meals out at the same time.

Cosy traditional pub have been going since I was little. Still the same and not all gastro like most pubs.

We were taken here by our friends (who are local) for the first time 2 weeks ago. Proper country pub with a serious passion for home "grub". We took our 2 dogs and we were sat in the snug with a roaring fire, which was lovely. The staff were fantastic and attentive. The food was great, well presented and plentiful. I'm sure we will be back over this way again and hopefully experience a sunny day Sat outside. Loved it.
