Rajput Indian Cuisine in Dudley

This is a super little licenced restaurant that's deserving of the praise being heaped upon it. It has a very well presented dining area, albeit slightly dim lighting. We were attended to by efficient staff that know what they are doing. To keep this review unusually brief, the food and sides were to our tastes and neither the wife nor I could find fault with anything. What was surprising is that we had a great evening for a lot less than I was expecting. Two months later we returned, the experience and the food was even better than the first time. The sheekh kebab was one of the best in a very long time, the chicken in both our meals was excellent, even the skin on fries were a class above most. The service was spot on. I genuinely couldn't find room for improvement. Nearly 12 months on from my first review and and all is still very good. It was very busy but the service didn't suffet. There was also a party of 10 booked in which seemed to push everyone to the back of the restaurant and was therefore a little 'cosy'. The sheekh kebab wasn't quite as good as the first time but still not bad. Very popular so obviously pleasing most of the people most of the time.

Absolutely amazing experience. Came here for my birthday with my wife, they put up balloons and banners around. I'm very satisfied with the prompt and professional service I received.

We absolutely love this smart new restaurant - the friendly, sincere staff, excellent food and convivial atmosphere means we always have a fantastic night out as a family or with friends. We have never had a bad experience and would thoroughly recommend the Rajput.

We reserved a table for 2 for New Years Eve at 9pm. When we arrived the restaurant was full and the atmosphere was chaotic. Tables were pushed together into a line down the middle of the room - maximising numbers. Other people who had booked tables were also waiting. A few people gave up and left. Finally a couple vacated one of the tables situated along the side of the room at 9:30pm. However we were then advised that this table was reserved for a party of 5 people who had not yet arrived. The manager then avoided speaking to us. At 9:45pm we walked home feeling angry and very disappointed. We have visited here before with friends and to be fair the food and atmosphere has always been nice. Poor management and organisation on New Year’s Eve really let this place down.

A group of us went and even though we all ordered different meals, most were the same dyed bright red slop which seems to be a base sauce for most meals there with the odd ingredient added later to fit the menu. Very disappointing and far removed from anything I know as authentic northern Indian food. The measure of a good Indian restaurant is when Indian people eat there- and there were none. I would say avoid this place but many who are not familiar with good Indian foods probably won’t realise it’s poor quality and over priced. Also I asked for a starter to be made into a main and was declined. Not great service.

I always stop for takeaway when in the area food always excellent staff always friendly and efficient the manager always remembers customers and greets them

£10 + for a mushroom korma? Inedible onion bhajis! I have eaten here many times recently but the take a way is nothing like the restaurant version! Ver VERY disappointed

Got to be honest I've not tasted food this tasty for a long time. I think I've been through the menu trying to catch Jakir out, it's spot on so far.

Great experience at Rajput. We dined on New Year’s Eve so it was incredibly busy, but the staff were excellent and apologetic for any waiting. We were seated and had our food within 20 minutes despite the busy restaurant. Great service and the food was hot and tasty too. If this is the standard on the busiest night of the year I look forward to returning on a regular night.

Food was lovely but service shocking, will never go back because of the attitude of the staff.

Was in town on business and staying nearby - so glad I found this classic Indian Restaurant- excellent service, extensive menu with some really Interesting chef’s specials and a full list of the classics. I had a lamb mince Balti with mushroom rice and Tariq dal / all dishes were cooked to perfection- a real treat for the senses! Highly recommend this restaurant!

We have just been here for our first time. We are really impressed and will be going back again! Diverse menu with curries I’ve never seen before like honey curries. The environmental and atmosphere was very clean, quaint and inviting. The service was excellent! All staff were friendly and helpful, we didn’t feel like ‘just another customer’ we actually felt very valued and we will 100% be going back. Thank you Rajput 👍☺️

Being a Saturday, the Restaurant was very busy and staff were quite rushed with takeaway orders - However the management/staff were extremely friendly and made sure we were looked after, despite being so busy. Had a takeaway meal for six people tonight mine was the worst chicken balti I have ever had it was tandoori chicken in tomato sauce my wife had chicken shashlik she said it was OK more left than she had . The bill was £103 from all our guests who said there's was ok i think I've probably put about £30worth in the bin .won't be going there again

I have been a regular customer of Rajput since Jak. bought the business. He has done a fantastic job providing excellent personal service and top quality food in a luxurious restaurant. I have recently been diagnosed with MND but I am still made to feel very welcome and Jak. does everything possible to meet my needs. Thank you Jak and team.

Outstanding! First time visiting, defo going back! Food was amazing and cooked with care and passion. We have been to a lot of Indian restaurants and many are just the same but you get the odd one which stands out, this is one of those. The menu had many dishes we have never seen before. Can recommend Rajput.

Had a takeaway, first in a long time in Monday night to be honest as we'd just got back from holiday and everywhere else was closed. I have to say though I was really impressed, very welcoming when I picked up the order. Piping hot curry, lots of meat and very well cooked. Chilli nann was delicious also. Excellent 👌

Excellent Chicken Tikka Masala - staff are very pleasant and helpful too which is always a plus! Stunning interior created with exquisite style from Rajput. You’re always up for a chance of receiving a complimentary alcoholic beverage whilst you wait to collect your takeaway. Spicy Masala chips are also the best I have tried - 10/10 from me personally.

Just had a curry from Rajput it is the Indian food I have had in our area for a lobg long time five stars does not do it justice.

Just had a fantastic meal at Rajput. I had the Tawa Chicken and it was the tastiest curry I've ever had. Service was spot on. We'll definitely be back very soon.

Food was lovely and good size portions. Staff very nice but service a bit odd, we ordered poppadoms and Chutney which were nice and fresh after that our order for starters and main was taken. We didn't have to wait long but it seemed strange not to order everything at the same time. However we will definitely return and would recommend this restaurant.

Great meal here last night with friends who live round the corner. excellent service, great atmosphere and amazing food. I had the amazing Railway Lamb Curry and it is probably one of the best curries i've had in a long while. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well and they all looked great, hot, tasty and well presented. Thanks for a great evening.

I’ve been a regular at Rajput since Jak took over. I took my son and daughter in law on Friday night and we had a delicious meal in a great restaurant where the atmosphere is cosy and the team provided excellent, personal service with genuine pleasure. - Thank you Jak and Sha for making us feel so welcome!

We visited this restaurant on a busy Friday evening, we were greeted immediately and seated quickly, I was impressed on how beautiful the restaurant decor was and how clean it was, the staff are fantastic and the service was second to none. We ordered various dishes and everyone of them was perfectly prepared and tasted amazing! We travel from South Carolina and the Rajput will always be one of our top choices when we want Indian cuisine!

Arrived at the restaurant late, we weren’t expecting to eat in due to how late we were but we were seated immediately, we ordered out of our comfort zone due to so much choice. We would totally recommend the railway lamb curry & the wales lamb dish. The food came out really fast! It was unbelievable, super tasty and will not be going anywhere else! 5*

We had a great night at Rajput Indian Cuisine on a Saturday evening in January. The staff were helpful from the start when taking our booking on the phone and went out of their way to accommodate our group - leaving room for a pushchair (we let them know this in advance) and a few other little requests. (Group of 12). Staff were friendly and available when needed all evening; there was a great atmosphere in the bustling restaurant and everyone loved their food. (The food for the whole table was also brought out very efficiently - we were impressed!) We will definitely be back.

The Restaurant has a modern contemporary feel inside and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food however really does fall short, the chutneys accompanying the poppadoms were overly sweet and sickly. Red food colouring was being used in abundance in every curry we saw, including our own which was off-putting and completely unnecessary. Instead of authentic flavors, spice combinations and fresh ingredients, we were thoroughly underwhelmed. Our food was pretty basic and bland on the flavour front and it was clear the restaurant catered for the masses in terms of adapting their curries for the audience, rather than staying traditional, which was a shame. In addition to the red food colouring, there was an underlying sweetness to nearly everything we ordered, which again was completely unnecessary.

Best place to go for food the staff are great and the owner is always there to great you and make sure your experience is fantastic wouldn’t go any where else number 1

The food was ok in fairness but the portions very small ! We had tandoori chicken, lamb chops , .. salad was extremely tiny , chicken and lamb well flavoured and cooked but very small sparrow like chicken and there was more bone on the chops than lamb.. just over order if you want a decent meal ..

This was my first time dining at the Rajput and I was impressed by the lovely atmosphere and comfortable modern decor. The menu has many Indian dishes I have never eaten and we all found the food delicious. Even bottled Indian cider! Service was good and the restaurant was busy. I will certainly visit again.

Food good although every dish was rather red, price point a little high. Staff good but service hurried.

I was really looking forward to trying the food here because of all the great reviews but unfortunately our meal was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was because we went in late that the food wasn’t so good. Mind you, if you don’t want to serve late then perhaps just close the doors rather than drop the standard. The lamb dish was ok, interesting hint of smoke to it, but the chicken dish lacked any flavour albeit was reasonably spicy. Unnecessarily dyed bright red. I’ll give it another go but will book much earlier next time.

Pretty tasty dishes, but all four main meals served looked quite red. Don't know if the price point is due to its location in Wall Heath, but really I didn't find it good value for money. I've experienced better prepared food at a fraction of the cost here. Staff and service was good, but I always find it a little irritating to have staff interrupting my meal to clear empty or partially empty dishes frequently when talking with friends and eating.

Had a fabulous meal last night with the family. There were 10 of us and service and food was fab! Arrived at the table piping hot and everyone commented how nice there dishes were. Would definitely recommend 😊

Ate here for the 1st time last week. Was looking for somewhere different to try and saw all the good reviews so thought we would book. OMG! we were not disappointed. Decor in the restaurant was gorgeous, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was amazing! We went the whole hog and had poppadoms with chutney tray (nothing watered down like other restaurants), starters were flavoursome and very tasty and main courses were brilliant, everyone had something different and all said it was the best indian food they'd had in a long time! 4 of us ate here we said it was the best Indian food we had eaten anywhere really tasty and the spices and tenderness of the meat was excellent well done rajput so good we booked for new years eve .

Just finished a beautiful takeaway. First time ordering food here, and certainly won't be the last. We fancied trying food from someone we've never eaten before, and when I saw the amazing reviews I knew it must be good. Food was ready to collect within 25 minutes, with 10% off when collecting your food. The portions are enormous, hot and beautifully spiced. Thank you so much 😀

This was our first visit here since the new owners took over. It was our wedding anniversary and we wanted to try somewhere different and the reviews read well. The new decor is very modern with interesting lighting. Piano bar type music at a background level was nice. The welcome was friendly and we were given a nice table. The service was attentive and friendly and the owner came for a chat and was obviously proud of his restaurant and food. I also noticed him chatting to many other diners who were obviously regulars. The food itself was delicious and the menu offered the standard fare and also some more unusual dishes. All in all a very pleasant experience. We will be back.

Order food via just eat food ordered at 21:58 waited for the food until 22:32 to receive an email to say your food is cancelled. We called the restaurant to be told that we had received 3 missed calls and no answer at the door which is untrue we didn’t receive one call and we didn’t hear the door at any point improvement needed in communication skills and listening to a customer.

First time ordering from Just Eat. Where I live has very limited options so I was overjoyed that Rajput had included their service to my area. I chose 4 vegetarian meals and I chose based on that I’d never seen them before and I love trying new food. One dish included paneer which was flavoured and spiced exquisitely. I would of found it better if the paneer was grilled or cooked in the tandoor but it was nice either way. The starter dish was stuffed aubergine and it was nice and tenderly cooked. I don’t mind a bit of bite but raw aubergine is not very appealing so I enjoyed this dish a lot. Again it isn’t something I’ve seen in other establishments. Two other dishes were lovely too. One being particularly spicy with plenty of green chilli. On delivery, I was impressed with the accuracy. Closer to the longer time estimate but my address is notoriously Sat Nav unfriendly and the food still arrived with plenty of heat and the driver was very courteous. Another thing I would mention is the price. £6.45 for a vegetarian main. I ordered way more than I knew I could eat ( 3 mains ) for the purpose of this review and each main was in a large foil container and was filled with delicious food. I’ll eat the rest tomorrow. Overall I can’t fault this restaurant based on this occasion even tho it’s my first time using them I was confident from the start due to the great reviews they have already. Great priced vegetarian food that is a step above the usual offerings and delivered in good time. Rajput obviously has a passion for what they do and I’m so grateful that I can finally have Indian food delivered to my address. Thank you Rajput. PS, obviously they don’t just do vegetarian food. Jist thought I’d say.

We had a take away 2 weekends ago, unfortunately it was a very long wait, when it finally came the driver said it was due to staff issues that evening.. when i took the bag inside, it fell apart and my food was on the floor... Fortunately it was able to still be served up... Later i complained on the website, the following evening i had a phone call from the owner, and he apologised for all the inconvenience... He then offered to deliver whatever we wanted this Saturday, on the house... Fantastic.. It was delivered on time, and it was delicious... Fantastic customer service.... Thanks Rajput
