Great food , especially sweet duck . Super fresh cheese garlic nan breads. Staffs are very friendly And huge car park . I m going there again.

We always enjoy the Sunday buffet here but yesterday was definitely the best in a long time. Absolutely packed out and had to wait half an hour but it was worth the wait. Loads of freshly cooked sides and curries. The saag also was fabulous and the lamb balti was delicious. Great value for money.

Friendly welcome, nice ambience, interesting location. Good food, good service, reasonable prices. Poppadoms and naan breads really good, but king prawn pasanda only good. Good portion sizes too.

Visited for the first time and not disappointed. Lovely welcome, and seated promptly (without making a reservation). All staff are friendly and welcoming, but the food was amazing! The best Chicken Tikka Dopiaza in a VERY long time. Will definitely return.

My first takeaway from this restaurant. SUPERB! Very generous portions with added complimentary poppadoms, raita and onion salad. Prompt and friendly service. Excellent all round.

Ordered Chicken Tikka Masal and pilau rice, arrived home 25 miles away to find I had Chicken Biryani and a vegetable side dish. This was the worst ever Indian takeaway I have ever had. Apart from being wrong order, the Chicken Biryani was bland, tasteless & the vegetable side dish, just mush with green beans, potato, carrot & sweetcorn, absolutely yuk! Will never go there again.

Very helpful staff, a pleasant room, excellent food, sensibly priced. I was a little apprehensive having seen some low rating reviews, but our experience was very good. As you go in, if you’re tall at all 5ft 11in/180cm or more, Mind your head down in the cellar. But once seated, there’s no problem. The poppadoms and chutneys were brought quickly, drinks were quickly ordered and brought to our place; and there was so much choice on the menu that it took us a long time to make our selections. Our starters were the Mixed Kebabs and a Chicken Chatt, both excellent. The mains were from the chef’s specialties: Malabar Chicken and Achari Chicken. These were succulent and flavoursome, thoroughly recommended. The staff were sufficiently attentive without being in our faces, and willing to chat and interact more than just the dais to take out orders. For an excellent value Indian meal, I would strongly recommend Rajpoot.

We visited here on a busy weekend night. Tables very close together in a dark basement area. The food was at best average but most dishes were very poor. The worst thing however was bringing our 16 year old daughter. She was subjected to repeated inappropriate lingering stares from at least 3 male staff members who seemingly couldnt stop looking at her chest long enough to take an order. Never again.

What a fantastic place this is .would highly recommend going here. Was met with very friendly staff, had the buffet menu and what a massive choice there was . Freshly cooked,piping hot,and the quality of the food was more than perfect . The whole place was spotless in every way .Thankyou will be back very soon .was worth the 50 mile round trip score out 10 at least double and more

Our regular local and normally excellent, but tonight seriously poor takeaway! Food not freshly cooked, barely warm, items substituted or just wrong. Maybe just thinking to get away with it during the tourist season?

We live between Tavistock and Okehampton. Closer to Tavistock but find it's worth the extra drive for the Rajpoot. More interesting choice and they don't seem to use the chemical that bloats you out at other takeaways. Good job Rajpoot as always!

Having moved to the area a few months ago we thought we would try this restaurant despite what appeared to be mixed reviews. We are so glad we did - although we ate early evening the restaurant was quite full indicating it's popularity. Not liking food that is too hot/spicy we chose chicken Malay and prawn Kashmiri for mains and loved both of them. Staff were helpful and courteous and we thoroughly enjoyed our time - and prices were very reasonable! Would totally recommend.

Had a takeaway here recently after a gap of ten years which was caused by a bad experience in the past. The popadums were fresh, the curry was good in flavour and texture. Side dishes were good. Rice was average, Treated with a friendly welcome on arrival. Okehampton now has only 2 choices for Indian food and we were surprised that this is now the best option in town.

Takeaways and a few visits to this restaurant over the years. It's consistently good. Usual array of curries but with certain specials I've not seen elsewhere. Service is friendly and never had any problems with takeaway orders. The Thursday night deal, served throughout the year, is amazing value.

This place is AMAZING! the curry is delicious. My partner and I eat here very frequently, we have never been disappointed with our food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I have been a customer for many years now and have never had a bad experience. The Food is all cooked to order and from scratch. I have eaten in most of the Indian restaurants in area including Exeter, the Raj poot is my goto first choice every time. I have seen the meals being cooked in the kitchen and know its cooked with fresh spices and quality ingredients 'without exception' if the person saying its from a jar can let me know where they get jar sauces with this level of taste and quality, I would love to know,lol. Some of the dishes are rare to find in other restaurants. Just book a table on a Saturday and you will see it full to the brim with happy customers that always come back for more.

Eating at the Rajput last night reminded me why I rarely eat out any more . We chose the set meal for two - maybe that was the problem ? I don’t know . The rice was not the Basmati I have always eaten at Indian restaurants - and not very good . The vegetable curry was absolutely tasteless - the prawn dish was also tasteless and the prawns were chewy - how do they even get like that ? Slightly better was the chicken tikka - but again - the meat had a strange texture. - rubbery and watery ….. The best part was the Naan bread and the After Eight !! So disappointed ☹️. The service was friendly and it had a reasonable atmosphere . So for that I give it two stars instead of one . Sorry - I was really hoping to be able to give a great review ……. I used to work in an Indian restaurant years ago in London - I thought how they would have been shocked at this food .

Nice friendly restaurant. All Covid measures in place. Attentive staff, made very welcome. Food was nice, not too big a portion. Not much else to say. Well worth going on a Thursday for their meal deal.

Friendly staff and helpful when making choices. We ordered three different veg curries with chana masala and samosas. We were given a discount which was very welcome. Amazed when we got home to find we had been given another free side dish and free poppadoms, raita and small salads. The food was excellent, well prepared and really good flavours. It's clear that restaurants are suffering in the pandemic and gems like this one are hard to find so I hope that people support this one well in the coming months.

The food was nice but the COVID measures were virtually non existent apart from a small bottle of hand sanitizer by the front door. Tables were very close together and we ended up with a couple on the table next to us being less than a metre away in distance. They should really have removed some tables or put screens in between. I also had to challenge bill as we were overcharged which they did rectify.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on the 19 September. We booked a table at 1730 and was one of the first to be in the restaurant. On entry there was no signage no hand wash and the staff did not ask for any track/trace. We were shown to a table, food ordered arrived it was lovely,however the restaurant started to get busy as they also did takeaway there was people at the bar congregating ordering drinks paying for food. A party of 5 people arrived and sat directly behind my husband they could have touched heads my husband decided to sit next to me as we were feeling uncomfortable. The staff then directed another couple of 5 people asking were do you want to sit they sat behind us it was at this point we left .I would not go back to this restaurant again due to the lack of any COVID awareness.

Super meal. Quite exceptional. Garlic chilli chicken madras hot was one of the best meals i have ever had. 3 of us visited on a Tuesday night whilst visiting a mate in Okehampton. Everyone had a great meal. Ice cold bottles of Kingfisher, and top drawer service. Thankyou.

We were on holiday here and were recommended this restaurant by locals and they did not disappoint, I have seen the reviews about their social distancing measures but we found them great and doing the best they can. The food was amazing and service. They had a local drunk trying to kick off with them over the bar but they handled it fantastically and with dignity.My partner got his food and it wasn’t on a sizzler as it said on the menu but they sorted it out straight away and it was delicious. Great overall experience for us.

My 1st review but this must be the 100th time I've had a meal from Rajpoot. By far head & shoulders the best Indian I've been to (there's been a few). Good portions, reasonable price, excellent service (always) and a great host in Ziaur.

Good solid Indian food. My only concern was the complete lack of any social distancing, sanitiser or Covid measures. Our details weren’t taken so if there was a Covid case they wouldn’t be able to track and trace their customers. Restaurant capacity looked normal. As good as the food is I won’t go back until Covid is a long distant memory. It feels an incredibly complacent approach.Two other gripes....this is Devon, but they only sell Irish cider. Nothing against Irish cider but this, along with the the lack of amazing local ales, is a huge missed opportunity to up sell and promote local , and frankly superior, produce? The drinks menu feels like it is from the 1970s.

Three of us ate at the restaurant this evening, the food was average. But what concerned us was how many people were in the cellar restaurant, the tables are crammed in just as normal. There was no distance between tables at all. By 7.15 the downstairs area was full and we paid up and left, feeling very uncomfortable about the situation.

we popped in for the Rishi eat out to help out and being a Monday - our local haunts were shut. We went to the raj to find it empty but then on entering were ushered to the basement which was about half full - which was a suprise. The rear door was open but it was a bit disconcerting that we were crammed downstairs with no windows. The waiters were really pleasant but could do with not handling the cutlery by the end that you pop in your mouth. The food however was lovely - I had a bhuna and the other two had a dansak and a fruity curry (sorry cant remember it). With a couple of naan bread, rice, 2 soft drinks and a pint of cider. All meals were really good and very generous. There was a bit of difficulty working out what we owed - as it was the first day or the eat out - but without discount was about £55 but we paid £30.90.It was a shame a little more thought hadn't been put into where to put people - but when we left the top deck was filling up. Lovely restaurant loved the food.

The menu offered quite a range of dishes I normally do not see in other Indian restaurant's. This we hoped would be a positive indication of the chefs abilities and we were not wrong, the food served was fresh and tasty. Would recommend this restaurant as its has a great range of dishes on the menu, its reasonably priced and if you get the same chef we had you will not be disappointed.

Had 4 very different dishes, some hot, some mild but all had a distinct flavour and were delicious. In the area on holiday but will visit again. Happily recommended.

TERRIBLE MEAL - we were seated in a cold windowless basement and served the worst Indian food I have ever had. My Vegetable Korma was barely warm, so sickly sweet and appeared to be mushy vegetables added to coconut milk with pineapple juice added,thick and lumpy, no spices at all. I did complain and was then given the same dish but thinned down with more pineapple juice and microwaved to heat it up - totally inedible. My daughter had the Chicken Tikka and this seemed to be chucks of dry chicken in some kind of Italian jar sauce, again no spices and barely warm. My husband had the Fish Marsala and this looked and tasted like fish pie mix added to a tin of crushed tomatoes. The naan bread and the mango lassi were acceptable.Our server apologized and said the food was bad due to it being cooked by the second chef who had not learnt to season food. Our bill was over fifty pounds, and we were not charged for my meal as compensation - we really should have not had to pay anything as the food was so terrible that we could not eat it. I do not mind paying high prices for a good meal but what we were served was disgusting.If the owner/manager reads this review please reply so I can give you my contact details to discuss - perhaps this was an unfortunate one off but unlikely I think, lets see if you reply. As a local I will be advising friends to stay away.In short, awful meal, stay away and do not waste your hard earned money at this restaurant.

All you can eat Sunday evening buffet was overpriced and didn't have any main dishes for vegetarians! We're not familiar with the town but saw good reviews for this restaurant hence us stopping there for dinner. There was a starter of onion bhaji and three sides, two of which were heavy with potato. When asked for guidance on which dishes were suitable for vegetarians (nothing was labelled) the staff were abrupt and not particularly helpful. Furthermore, two soda and limes and an orange juice cost approx £8 which we thought was extortionate. Not a restaurant we'd visit again nor recommend to others.

Firstly, the food was great. However, when we arrived at the restaurant the door was wide open but not a sole inside. No customers and no staff! We were baffled. We could hear people and wondered why no one came to welcome us. Eventually we found a staircase and shouted down. No answer. So we went downstairs and found al the customers and all the staff! Apparently it was banquet night and everyone eats downstairs. We were shown to a table but it was horrendously noisy and my husband being hard of hearing was struggling. I asked if we could sit upstairs and at first told no, but when I said we would find somewhere else to eat the waiter said okay. We chose from the main menu as our experience of banquet nights isn’t good. The service was excellent from this point and the food very good. However, there was no ambience because we were sat by ourselves. Our choice of course. Whilst we were eating another couple came in for a meal and again were taken aback by no staff. We told them that everyone was downstairs and they walked out. I think at least one member of staff should be upstairs to greet people as first impressions do count.

Visited this restaurant this evening having been staying with friends in Okehampton and this lovely restaurant was well recommended. We tried this restaurant as we were on holiday staying in Lydford and really fancied an Indian meal.This particular one appealed as it opened at 5 and had a banquet night, so the price was right.We were really impressed with the size of the portions and the wine included with the deal was very nice. The service was very good and the staff were very polite.We will definitely visit again if we are around this area again one day.

Just first day of holiday and found this place although they deliver we opted to collect. Easy to find easy to park and we all enjoyed the meal.

This restaurant looked appealing from the outside, contemporary seating near the window but open entering we were directed down two flights of stairs to a lower seating area that resembled a cellar, so low my husband could not stand up without hitting his head on the ceiling !!! This area lacked the lovely modern feeling of the upstairs and felt old claustrophobic.We ate the meal because we had been out all day and were both hungry but it lacked flavour and did nothing to make us want to return.

We had been out all day and having done some research we found this place on trip advisor. Not the best looking location but having gone down the stairs we were greeted with a lovely restaurant and they had plenty of room for us. The food was lovely. Great variety with different stuff and the usual stuff. Staff friendly. Drinks good. Sad to say I was the only one that didn’t finish all my meal but that was because I was stuffed nothing else!

We visited Rajpoot after a days running on Dartmoor. We were extremely hungry so were very happy with our meals. Good price and excellent curries all 4 of us left more than satisfied!

We went on a Friday night - quite early. It was quite quiet which seemed a bit unusual. We were sat downstairs by very friendly waiting staff. Agree with a previous comment tat the popodoms and chutney were a bit disappointing and for not much additional effort could probably be made much better. However the main courses were lovely - I had Sizzling Fish Tandoori with Pilau rice which was lovely and my wife had Chicken Bhuna which she also said was lovely - good sized portions and very tasty. It was a shame the restaurant was quiet - I hope it gets busier later in the evening - as the food was very good. Prices were extremely reasonable

Popadoms ok but chutney tray poor. No mint yoghurt, given a garlic sauce, awful. Chutney far too thick. Prawns slimy and opaque so obviously not the best quality. Mushroom rice and Balti sauce ok.

We ordered on line then went to collect- very easy and helpful staff had the food ready and it was delicious. Good sized portions. They also were having a buffet option when we collected so may try that another time.

Me and my family always come to rajpoot whenever we feel like a takeaway. The food is always piping hot and delicious. The menu is very broad and there is a great selection of food available - the menu is also accessible online which is always handy. Service is always fast and the staff are always friendly.

Always consistently very good whether eating in or as a take away. Welcome is always warm and friendly.

We felt we were all being rushed, some dishes did not arrive, the tea was served with solid milk and it was clear they wanted us out as quickly as possible, many in the party had difficulty not only reading the menu but more clarity to dietary requirements should have been clearer. The food was fairly priced but bland, not a place we’ll be rushing back to.

We have been using Rajpoot for over 3 years now and have had exceptional food and service every time. We quite often visit the restaurant for family gatherings and are always made to feel welcome.

We visit approx twice a month and love the food here! It is always fresh, hot and served in a really timely manner. I have some dietary requirements which I mentioned the first time I visited and were no problem for the restaurant to accommodate - they have since always remembered and go out of their way to help me. The staff are always friendly and make it a really nice experience. I highly reccomend to anyone looking for a great Indian at a good price.

A group of us regularly go to the Rajpoot Restaurant and we have never been disappointed. Great food, a superb pint of chilled "Cobra" and excellent service. Prices are very reasonable.

The food was delicious and it was served promptly. All the staff was very kind and helpful. They accommodated our dietary needs (we are vegan) and their food was not oily at all. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant for our last meal of 2018. We definitely would love to visit them again if in the area.
