A big complex order that tasted great. Decent Indian meal served by nice people.

Have eaten here for years and stand by the fact I think they're one of the best Indian take away around. Food is always absolutely outstanding!!!

Brilliant authentic Indian food.

An absolute must, ordered from here two weekends in a row while staying nearby. Delicious. Garlic naan and spinach paneer are a must. Lots of vegetarian options. Call to order early on the weekends, they get busy!

Excellent food will use again when in west country

Bought my first meal tonight and it was very high quality. I was very happy to see an open kitchen, always a good sign. I will look forward to my next meal.

Best Indian in Tavistock, the food is always fresh and delicious. The guys that work there are just lovely! Can see right into the kitchen it’s always clean and nice! Can’t complain at all!

We would once drive a considerable distance to partake in the previously delicious curry's and moreover sing the praise of this establishment to anyone; however today we went for our favourite dishes and were disappointed to discover that they were average at best. The boat has sailed for us and we won't be bothering to order from here again. It is a shame as once this was a magnificent curry house.

Lovely fresh cooked curry and indian dishes I telephoned mu order through and it was ready in 30 mins very quick service and food was very nice.

Great quality meals here at a good price. The menu has plenty to offer and when ordering you can ask for any special requirements you might need. Food is ready in a reasonable time and has always tasted amazing. I recommend this place for a good takeout in Tavistock.

Good food friendly staff parking can be difficult at times site to yellow lines small foyer on entrance and step so be careful

Ordered a vegetable pathia, coconut rice and a tarka daal and the next day I reheated and ate last night's left overs as I normally do and I was sick as a dog

I thought I knew Indian cuisine until I experienced food from the Royal Spice. Absolutely amazing and totally blown away with the incredible flavours. 10/10 😋

Won’t be using again as despite the very nice food I am fed up with them getting our order wrong. A shame as the flavours are good but time and time again they mess up the order

Our first takeaway from the Royal and it certainly didn’t disappoint, the food was tasty and portions were of good size. Next time we have an Indian this will definitely be our place of choice.

We ordered a range of dishes as a family of four, including a vegetable biriani, chicken naga, tandoori king prawn and a chicken tikka mosssalla. On the whole, we were very impressed, particularly after visiting Thariks Tandoori which we found to be incredibly bland. The naga, bhajis qnd biriani were outstanding. Full of flavour, non-greasy and the chicken well-cooked and tender. The mossalla was also good but noticeably over-salted (and I prefer my dishes on the salty side; this was just too much and to the detriment of the other delicious flavours in the dish). The rice and naan were a little nondescript but forgivable given the quality of the mains. I loved the fact that you can see the kitchen, which was clean and well organised. Apart from the saltiness of the mossalla, this would have been a 5 star review.

Last Friday 4th June 2021, had my first takeaway from Royal Spice. I had a madras and it was fabulous, I continuly struggle to get a madras at the right temperature and this was perfect in every way. The sauce, the chicken was excellent quality. Just wonderful, we will be going no where else than Royal Spice for our takeaway. I know I am repeating myself but it was just fabulous

Had a meat Madras which was very good, l ordered two chapatis and got two cheap wraps very disappointed. Rang him just to be told they don't do chapatis any more some bloody Indian

We regularly travel 12 miles for our favourite Indian take away, and I have to say that it is far superior to any other local Indian places ...... Love it !!!

I decided to indulge in an Indian tonight, having previously been disappointed by another establishment I chose The Royal Spice and WOW I was NOT disappointed! I originally ordered the wrong dish but the service was great and the chef cooked up the most fabulous tikka right in front of me! The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and I will definitely be going back to The Royal Spice in the future!

We recently sampled a takeaway from the Royal Spice after moving to the area and it was a huge success. Food was fresh, well spiced and absolutely delicious. The onion bhajis were to die for and the main courses were sensational. The lamb tikka dopiaza was a particular highlight - so tender and lovely, unlike any I've had before! Friendly staff and the food was ready in around half and hour which is very respectable given the quality. We will be (and have already been) back!

Terrible disgusting service food just as bad!

We chose to support the Royal Spice during the Covid-19 outbreak and applaud them for overcoming the hurdle they face. We normally eat with The Ganges just across the road and will continue to do so after this disastrous meal. I was greeted with a rude young man front of house who did not acknowledge me entering the takeaway, after about five minutes of waiting I was served, I had already queues outside in line with their Social Distancing requests. Halfway through my order being bagged I was asked if I was happy for another customer to enter the shop. I replied “No” the shop is very small and it breached the Royal Spice’s own policy. I was then told to leave so the other customer could be dealt with. All the while my meal was sat on their work top. I’m finally allowed back in and my wait continues, the aforementioned staff member then threw my order onto the counter for me to collect, no “There you are” or “Thank you”-just blank nothing.I got the meal home. Greasy, bland and overpriced summarises the curry very well. Do not order the King Prawns! I have seen larger prawns in a service station sandwich.I had also ordered their Sheek Kebab-I was put off this part of my meal by the fact that I had seen one of the chefs remove these from the skewer with a very dirty tea towel. This same tea towel was then used to wipe around their hob and Naan cooking appliance.Bad service, poor food and questionable food hygiene! Eat here with caution!

Had the chicken tikka Jalfrezi and it was the best I have had recently, really flavoursome with the rice perfectly cooked and all piping hot! Would definitely be going back again.

Ordered at 1915 for collection at 1945. At 1945 not ready. Waited another 45 minutes!!!! Left them at 2027. Not good enough

Well what can I say about this place. The food is the best Indian I've ever eaten......but that only applies if you get what you ordered. They have consistently got my order wrong or even bits missing. Such a shame for such amazing food

Korma and Tikka masala were good tasty meals. However, a couple of the dishes were very oily and ruined the meal. Please refer to pictures. I have tried contacting regarding a refund but this is difficult, as they do not have an email. I’m going to use Ganges from now on.

Just glad our usually fish and chip shop was closed.After a couple of pints we were looking for something to eat, ordered my usually Chicken Madras garlic Nam and shek kebab, spicy but full of flavour and prepared in a kitchen in with nothing to hide, Well done Royal spice we will be back

So, having visited all the Indians in the area, I think I’m in a good place to say this one was best.Add to this the fact that I bumped into an old friend while waiting for my order, only to find they drive 20miles to come here, as they too think it’s worth the trip! Says an awful lot!Food delicious and freshly prepared, Kitchen is open to the customers view, which I think is genius, and it’s spotless. It’s very much the best in the area! A solid 10/10

My go to place for Indian in Tavi and tonight lived up to the usual very high standards. The tandoori mixed grill is wonderful.

New chefs, newly open kitchen and friendly welcome by the owner. Excellent curry, cooked to perfection and nice and spicy. Best curry place in Tavistock and they happily oblige to our requests of low fat versions.

Me and my partner went here on the 15th, the food was cooked to perfection, we found it very good value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely use this restaurant in the future.

On our last night in the area we decided to visit here for a takeaway. We ordered 2 starters, a chicken pakora and an onion bhajiis as well as 3 mains, rice and bread.

We have dealt with this delightful takeaway since it opened. Consistently great quality food and charming staff. Best in Tavistock.

I always use this take away , the food is fresh and tasty ! They will adapt any dish for you and it’s very authentic tasting . Nice staff too , will continue to use regularly .

After a few friends recommended this place we thought we would give it a try and it was worth it! The flavours were absolutely perfect the food was hot throughout and the meat was tender and cooked to perfection, the only gripe was with the onion bhajee which was very dry, the tandoori mixed grill was perfect and the other half had a chicken Baltic which was also very good!! Highly recommended!! Will definitely eat here again! The staff was helpful and friendly too!!

Queríamos tener para llevar el viernes por la noche y, después de haber en tripadvisor decidí probar el Royal Spice. Qué buena elección - Un servicio fantástico, curry muy bueno y un precio estupendo. La primera vez que he estado allí y sin duda volveré.

Had a fantastic takeaway from here for my birthday. The food was brilliant and there was plenty to go round and for family to take home.

Rubbish never got my.food what so ever

We had picked up a nice bottle of wine and decided to dine in at the hotel. We ordered a variety of dishes including chicken tikka, aloo chana, chana paneer, pillou rice, peshwari naan, chicken Rogan Josh, and chicken Madras. The vegetable dishes were tasty and delicious, and the chicken curries had a great flavour but the chicken had been pre cooked making it taste old. The service was very friendly and accommodating and they even let us borrow a couple of glass plates which we returned after we finished our meal.

Excellent as usual, I see some people moan about The delivery time but has never been a problem these guys get really busy. This shop has a 5 star food hygiene score you should check out what some of the others have.

First time been here but best Indian take away we have had in a long time. On the "spicy" side of average which is fine, just be conscious when ordering. Will definitely be back again.

Have had three takeaways from here and the food is really very good, every time. Not too oily either. Conveniently located opposite the Cornish! Chicken tikka dhansak is up there!
