The mixed grill was amazing 😋 melted in your mouth and the flavours delicious. We were upstairs which was lovely as nice and quiet as was full downstairs' and very busy 👍🏻 thank u for lovely service and amazing food

With our neighbours, we made our annual pilgrimage to the Rajni for Valentine's. From previous years our expectations were high and, again, we were not disappointed. Food and service we're good. Treated the ladies to a red rose. Had a great time - again! We'll certainly look to Valentine's at the Rajni in 2025. Advise anyone to book to avoid disappointment. Excellent value. Take your own alcoholic drinks. Only potential issue, if you like your coffee. they do not have an espresso machine!

My partner & I visited for the first time last week. After having a wonderful meal there we have decided to book a table well in advance for my 70th birthday. The manager & staff where very welcoming and had a good sense of humour. The food was nicely served & excellent in every way. I have every confidence they will do me proud on my special birthday. 07/04/2024 Well the birthday celebration took place with 16 people present. The feedback from everyone was excellent. Everybody enjoyed the food and the venue. I know a number of people will be returning there to have the £12 5 course meal on a Monday-Tuesday night. Josh you and the staff did me proud. Not the best, never have I had peas, sweetcorn, green beans and carrots in a lamb biryani. Lamb was tough and lacked flavours.

Great Monday night 5 course set menu for £12pp. Lamb Tikka starter was a bit greasy but, everything else was spot on. Happy to go back and recommend to others.

Myself and my mate went to Rajni tonight. was shown to a table waiter asked if we wanted poppadoms and pickles, which were excellent with pickle tray consisting of mango chutney, mint sauce and chopped onions. On to the mains I went for paneer shashlick, with my mate having a korma. The mains were bought to our table by a friendly waiter, my shashlick came out sizzling, it was one of the best I've had very tasty just enough spice, the only mistake I made was having chips instead of rice. I also had a Peshawar nan. In all a good experience. Would I return definitely

Visited with 2 friends As it is necessary to take our own drinks we asked for 3 beer glasses when the waiter brought the menu. Despite returning for our order no glasses were forthcoming. We then requested glasses again. Once we had ordered our meals things improved and the service was good. Food was good and we were left to eat in peace without the "is everything ok" as seems to be customary in many places. Staff were a little slow to take away the empties once we had finished our meals. Lighting in the restaurant was to me a little harsh but some may find it comfortable. Priced reasonably but unfortunately I have to say I would not take someone I was looking to impress.

Really poor!!!!. I ordered a takeaway & items were missing & food was cold.. I called them and they said they were going to deliver the missing items in 10 mins. They never turned up. Also the salmon tasted like it had been cooked days ago. Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else!

Ate here for the first time tonight for my birthday. Food was excellent and service good. It was pretty busy, especially for Monday night, but we weren't rushed. I'll definitely be going back.

First time I have visited but I was a little disappointed. we did go early so thete was no one else in. a couple of other tables came in but atmosphere was lacking and food was ok but nothing special. I think it may have been delivery man that was clearing his throat but not a good sound when you are eating! I may try it once more perhaps on a weekend. we went on a Thursday.

Amazing food everytime we visit here ,

We were sent upstairs as the main room was full the upstairs could have been better cred for there was cobwebbs haning from the wall and the floor could have been cleaner. The service was polite. meal was a bit on the tough and grisly side. Pehaps just a bad day at the office. Hope it is better the next time, They only take cash if you take advantage of offers.

Friendly service , quick to bring your food out, food was excellent and at £22 ahead for 2 courses and sides very reasonably priced, doesn't have a alcohol licence so you do have to bring your own , soft drinks are available at the restaurant

If you like fish curry, I can highly recommend the spicy monk fish. Excellent. I'd go so far as to say the best I've ever had.

The food was great and I will certainly be coming back, it is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer) place meaning you must bring your own alcohol however in a pinch there is a co-op just across the road

I've been to Rajni restaurant with my sister in law a couple of times since covid and we've had delicious food with excellent service. This weekend we've had family visiting from Retford and London so decided to order a takeaway ,Rajni, you didn't let us down, the delivery was bang on time, the food was hot and delicious again. Our guests were very impressed and there's plenty left for my husband and me to have another curry night tonight . Thank you so much. X

38 of us hired upstairs which unfortunately meant it took 2 and a half hours to get our food, which was lovely. Atmosphere was amazing, not sure down stairs agreed though 🤔

I would score higher if I could. I have eaten here twice now, once in the restaurant and once takeaway! The food is impeccable and maybe the best Indian food I personally have had. The depth of flavour, the taste and quantity is just sublime not to mention the incredible staff

Hardly anyone in when we went as it was early. Food was ok and the young man that served up was good. Could do with having a word with his uncle who also worked there, to show him how to do it. The place could do with a lick of paint. Would I go again? Probably because it's close.

Held my 30th Birthday meal in the upstairs room with around 30 guests. The room, service and food was fantastic, they really made it a special night. And great value too. Highly recommend.

Safety rail broke and one of the ladies was85 years old and nearly fell down, nice place, but need to put older customers downstairs, we love the food and go often.

Monday and Tuesday is dinner for £10.00 which is incredibly good value, that's a starter and a main no dessert option but a floater coffee for a extra pound and you can also take your own alcohol. Everything was cooked to perfection and I will certainly be going back for more. Highly recommended.

Team Rajni made our outing most enjoyable and special. We were served by a young man (so sorry, I can't remember your name), who's only been there a few months. He was very cheerful and helpful, and made us feel that nothing was too much to ask, thanks lad. The food was excellent, fresh and generously portioned, presented well, and served fresh and in good time. The restaurant looks clean, bright and professional, and makes a good impression before you even enter. No pressure to scoff and dash, or hover waiter, just a nice relaxing atmosphere. Overall, a great little restaurant, and at around £20ish a head for the food and softdrink(bring your own alcohol) good value for money.

Had a special deal on but it seemed only for locals as I was not told or showed the menu. Curry was a little over spiced. Madras was more like a Vindaloo but apart from that it was nice tasting. The staff were very pleasant. No license so bring you own alcohol if you want it.

As always food spot on! We have a delivery regular and its always hot and of excellent quality. Never late. Eaten in a few times and its the same high quality and excellent service

First time Ive been to Rajni. The atmosphere was wonder, the service was first class and the food was amazing. Four of us went well all had different dishes and each dish was stunning. I've lived in Birmingham for 26 years and ate out at the balti capital. The Rajni is way up there with the best Balti restaurants. I will definitely make the Rajni my first choice restaurant from now on.

Had a takeaway as being Saturday night every table was booked. Tasty food and reasonable prices, 3 well fed for under £25. Friendly and helpful staff, they obviously have a lot of regular and repeat customers. Naans, onion bhajii and dansak all very good.

Great value , lovely food , well worth the £10 for special offer night's . Poppadoms pickle tray , good choice of starters including vegetarian, good choice of main meals , then rice or Nan bread ,I usually pick one my friend the other. Very friendly staff ,bring your own alcohol ,or soft drinks /hot drinks available. No complaints ,enjoyed.

Just picked up our first takeaway from Rajni. Totally blown away. The flavours are intense and mouthwatering. King prawn Tawa a little spicy but bursting with flavour. Chicken tikka Methi exceeded my expectations and again full of complex flavours. The sauces are rich, the saag paneer is 1st class. Will defo be back.

I've ordered "Big Joke- Rajni Special Mixed Shaslik through UBER eats app, Description: Rajni Special Mixed Shashlik£9.50 Chicken tikka, lamb tikka, seekh kebab, tandoori king prawn, prepared with special spices, onion, and capsicum, then garnished with coriander and served on a sizzling platter with green salad And look what I've received ,can you see any prawns there?what is this? Huge laugh, never again in my life I'll do this mistake and order from them

Absolutely dreadful meal. My wife is ill in bed, spent £30 on the absolute worst takeaway I have ever had. Rang the restaurant online to be told I was making up stories. Terrible experience.

The most pathetic indian food I have ever tasted in Derby!! The saag paneer was just a melange of long thin pieces of paneer in a mish mash of green leafy stuff. No flavour no seasoning at all. The paneer shaashlik was a huge disappointment. It was just kind of red coloures oil with long thin pieces of paneer and some onions thrown in. Again no seasoning and flavour. Will definitely avoid this place in the future.

Ordered a takeaway on Sat 03/03. Chicken tikka pasanda. When it arrived it was pink and full of coconut, so much so that the coconut was in clumps. Inedible. It looked and tasted like a very sweet dessert with some chicken thrown in. I phoned to tell them and was told, very sorry I'll go and talk to the chef....that was it.

I have never eaten in, but I have had over 50 takeaways in the last six months and they have been consistently excellent, great service, fast delivery and the food, well I want another one just thinking about it, mmmmmmm.

Never had a bad meal from here. Our favourite place to eat in or takeaway! Use just eat regular to order from Rajni. Always hot always on time and always pleasant staff. When they are allowed to reopen we will be back!

Ordered online and thought we’d ordered 3 curries. Called up and it was our mistake. Regardless they delivered the third curry and wouldn’t take payment. This is going beyond what was expected and we are really impressed. Oh, and the food was delicious as always. Thanks so much!

Very clean, atmosphere was nice and food was excellent I would certainly recommend.

If we’re going on food alone it was fine. But we were crammed in, the restaurant not following government guidance on table distance or mask wearing (most staff and customers were, but not all) When I politely asked that a couple were not seated less than a metre from us I was clearly clocked as trouble ( they tried to seat some other people less than a metre with no screens 10 mins later) Our food came quickly, swiftly followed by the bill, no offer of desert/coffe etc. It was obvious they wanted us out, so we obliged. A shame, I want to support local businesses, but I’ll support those who care more about their customers safety in future.

Today was the very first time we used Rajni, ordered online very easy and excellent! Was given a time to collect (thought I would collect rather than use the delivery..... I personally find it easier to do). Went to collect order, greated by very nice and friendly staff, came straight out with my order even gave me free popperdoms. Food was still very warm when got it home... Food was fantastic, very nice and very tasty!!! Will definitely be using Rajni again, well worth the money. Very happy!! Would recommend.

As ever had another fantastic meal there last night with a few friends. The staff are all really friendly and acomdating in this family ran business. I would recommend the Tandoori Mixed Tawa for any one wanting to try something new, it comes out sizzling and has a lovely mix of aromatic tastes. Vegan options are available if you ask and some one will talk you through what you can and can't have off the menu. The best Indian food in the local area.

Order stated time delivery 2005,still no delivery 2020, informed it would be 15 to 20 minutes later, reasons we are busy. I was short but no bad language. Requested to speak to the boss, no I'm the manager the boss is in the kitchen. Why can't you inform people that's its going to be late.

Rang for a takeaway - we were given an eta of 1hour 45 minutes which we accepted in current situation but that came and went. Rang for an update - told that they were busier than expected but our order would be with us in about 20 minutes which again came and went. Rang again - Manager didn’t know where the order was - somewhere in Derby!!! 2 and a half hours after we ordered rang again - still no idea when our order would arrive then miraculously a lady turned up at our door with something resembling our order!!! The food we received was average and not an experience we would want to repeat. A learning for this restaurant would be - don’t keep taking orders when you know that you can’t fulfill them - it is better to say ‘no’ than to fail customer expectations!!!

Ok, been on several occasions to this restaurant and food has been good along with service, however! We booked a table for 3 including our 12 yr old boy on Saturday evening, we ended up waiting an hour and fifteen minutes between our poppadoms and having our main course, on asking the waiter were our food was he replied 5 minutes. Another 15 minutes and we ask again, and reply was 5 minutes. Our boy was hungry and getting restless as was we and when we finally got our food and asked for the bill we had been in the restaurant just under 2 hrs. The restaurant was busy and seemed to have plenty of staff as normal but when our bill came, not a penny off our food. I felt very annoyed at this, yes we had a couple of apologies and would have seen this as a one off as we have been here on several occasions but an hour and fifteen minutes between courses?. We paid the bill without any fuss. Failure not to reduce the bill is my decision never to set foot in this restaurant again as it speaks volumes in how you value your customers, i was going to give just one star for our troubles on this occasion but seen as we had been here a few times without any issues i thought two stars may be more deserving.

Nipped in on Tuesday night thinking it would be quiet but it was more like a Saturday night it was packed but they just managed to get us in , the service was excellent and all the food was very good quality and nice and hot and you take your own beer which is always a bonus , been coming here since it opened. But you try other new restaurants but to be honest you can’t fault Rajni In any way good food atmosphere and staff 100%recommended many thanks for a great night Kev

Booked a table for two on the same day, for the 5 course deal for £10! Meal was piping hot and delicious, really enjoyed tikka starter and main. Staff friendly and welcoming, defiantly recommend this deal to anyone wanting an early week bargain! Thank you team at Rajni!

Went on a Saturday with friends, a table of 9 of us and ordered a variety of meals from the menu including Jalfrezi, Bhuna and the mixed grill and to a person we thought the food was very good and very flavoursome! The Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the evening.The added bonus with this restaurant is that it’s a bring your own alcoholic drinks venue, which means the price for the evening is considerably lower than restaurants that sell there own beer normality at around £4.50+ a pint, and with the co-op across the road open til 10 pm it’s ideal.
