Rajni in Erewash

Never been to Rajnis before and we had a wonderful time - and the team made us feel extremely welcome. We arrived early for our booking but they still went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and everyone looked after us very well. Excellent varied menu and delicious food. Huge portions (we had to ask for boxes to take some home!). Waiters were professional and friendly and they were lovely with my daughter. Would highly recommend and my daughter said it was without doubt 5 stars!!

A warm welcome, great service and fabulous food. They have a super offer which makes it affordable any night of the week. Plenty if parking opposite and take your own alcohol

Always love coming to Rajni and having there takeouts but tonight’s takeout we had the curry’s were very bland no spice in them the balti was more a plane curry the taste was very off not sure what happened tonight but very disappointed

2 hours from order to delivery. Food arrived luke-warm at best.

Came here as was recommended from a friend , for an evening out with the family.From when I walked in I thought it was gonna be nice. Although the tables was very close together and with it being so busy you felt as if you were sat right next to the people on the other tables and not on your own table. Now we go to many curry houses and this definitely didn’t feel like a curry house bit more like a local cafe. The manners of staff wasn’t very welcoming. Service was not good one bit now let’s talk about the waiter. He was very rushy and had curry stains all down his shirt which felt really unhygienic talking about hygiene when he went to take the plates of the table to get to one plate he moved my glass by touching or should I say put his whole hand round the rim of the glass where you drink from and I definitely didn’t drink from it after although the jug of water what we were given was really warm had no ice in it and wasn’t nice felt like it was sat there all day. The food quality wasn’t great proportion was ok but now I’m talking I like quality not quantity the food quality was poor the naan was too salty and the rice was watery. Now as you can tell with this review we will not be returning and I will be having words with the friend who is meant to be a friend anyway about this curry house thanks

The food was amazing, however no where on the website did it say we had to bring our own alcohol so we were quite confused when we got there and had to drink tap water for our entire stay! The service was good the waiters were nice however I have an onion allergy and there were no allergy information on the menu so when the food came out covered in onions I was quite disappointed other than that it’s a nice little restaurant with a great atmosphere so I definitely recommend giving it a go!

Was lovely evening, service excellent, Food excellent apart from the chicken ut was very dry and hard and not enjoyable thats the reason for only 4 stars.

As well as all the usual dishes, there were a lot of dishes on the menu that I'd not come across before. As someone who likes to try new things, I had a lamb pardesi (one of the things I've not come across before) and it was really good. The food was all excellent, and the staff were all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I'll will be going back again in future.

The restaurant is unpretentious and situated in an old shop on the main road parking is opposite near other shops and supermarket. The restaurant does not serve alcohol but provides quality glassware for alcohol you bring yourself. No card payments just cash but there is a cash point close by. We had the £12 special i personally had Popadom and pickles 1 each but more available on request Sheikh Kebab served with fried onions Madras chicken and rice - choice is rice or nan The curry was excellent and one of the best true madras i have had recently The restaurant was packed solid but the service was impeccable Well done to the owner and his staff a wonderful evening to celebrate my daughter in laws birthday. Highly recommended

We have been eating at the Rajni since they first opened, we have generally eaten at the restaurant but have on occasion had a takeaway, we can honestly say we have never had a bad meal there, we have had dishes that were not to our taste but the quality has always been top notch, also the staff are always friendly and helpful and give good advise on what dishes to try. The added bonus of taking your own alcohol helps keep to cost down.

Placed a large takeaway order for everyone at work. Food was ready on time, still hot and everything was correct. Good quality ingredients, some of the tastiest curries around.

The mixed grill was amazing 😋 melted in your mouth and the flavours delicious. We were upstairs which was lovely as nice and quiet as was full downstairs' and very busy 👍🏻 thank u for lovely service and amazing food

With our neighbours, we made our annual pilgrimage to the Rajni for Valentine's. From previous years our expectations were high and, again, we were not disappointed. Food and service we're good. Treated the ladies to a red rose. Had a great time - again! We'll certainly look to Valentine's at the Rajni in 2025. Advise anyone to book to avoid disappointment. Excellent value. Take your own alcoholic drinks. Only potential issue, if you like your coffee. they do not have an espresso machine!

food was OK, not up to usual standard.

My partner & I visited for the first time last week. After having a wonderful meal there we have decided to book a table well in advance for my 70th birthday. The manager & staff where very welcoming and had a good sense of humour. The food was nicely served & excellent in every way. I have every confidence they will do me proud on my special birthday. 07/04/2024 Well the birthday celebration took place with 16 people present. The feedback from everyone was excellent. Everybody enjoyed the food and the venue. I know a number of people will be returning there to have the £12 5 course meal on a Monday-Tuesday night. Josh you and the staff did me proud. Not the best, never have I had peas, sweetcorn, green beans and carrots in a lamb biryani. Lamb was tough and lacked flavours.

Great Monday night 5 course set menu for £12pp. Lamb Tikka starter was a bit greasy but, everything else was spot on. Happy to go back and recommend to others.

Myself and my mate went to Rajni tonight. was shown to a table waiter asked if we wanted poppadoms and pickles, which were excellent with pickle tray consisting of mango chutney, mint sauce and chopped onions. On to the mains I went for paneer shashlick, with my mate having a korma. The mains were bought to our table by a friendly waiter, my shashlick came out sizzling, it was one of the best I've had very tasty just enough spice, the only mistake I made was having chips instead of rice. I also had a Peshawar nan. In all a good experience. Would I return definitely

I asked for no peppers or lemon in my curry, but they still put them in and I asked for pilau rice and they gave me plain!

Visited with 2 friends As it is necessary to take our own drinks we asked for 3 beer glasses when the waiter brought the menu. Despite returning for our order no glasses were forthcoming. We then requested glasses again. Once we had ordered our meals things improved and the service was good. Food was good and we were left to eat in peace without the "is everything ok" as seems to be customary in many places. Staff were a little slow to take away the empties once we had finished our meals. Lighting in the restaurant was to me a little harsh but some may find it comfortable. Priced reasonably but unfortunately I have to say I would not take someone I was looking to impress.

Forgot part of order, tinned mushrooms, no flavour in curry, samosa hard. Never been this bad before

Really poor!!!!. I ordered a takeaway & items were missing & food was cold.. I called them and they said they were going to deliver the missing items in 10 mins. They never turned up. Also the salmon tasted like it had been cooked days ago. Don’t waste your money. Go somewhere else!

Ate here for the first time tonight for my birthday. Food was excellent and service good. It was pretty busy, especially for Monday night, but we weren't rushed. I'll definitely be going back.

Ordered confirmed at 1732 estimated delivery was between 18:30 and 18:50. Phoned at 18:50 to find out where delivery was and the phone line was poor there was alarms going off so could not hear or understand what was happening. Delivery turned up 10 minutes late, the biryani sauce had leaked greasy sauce all over the bag transferring onto the work top and all over my hands the popadoms were stale the naans were tough and I also had onion that was barely cooked. Not high on my list of takeaways

First time I have visited but I was a little disappointed. we did go early so thete was no one else in. a couple of other tables came in but atmosphere was lacking and food was ok but nothing special. I think it may have been delivery man that was clearing his throat but not a good sound when you are eating! I may try it once more perhaps on a weekend. we went on a Thursday.

We were sent upstairs as the main room was full the upstairs could have been better cred for there was cobwebbs haning from the wall and the floor could have been cleaner. The service was polite. meal was a bit on the tough and grisly side. Pehaps just a bad day at the office. Hope it is better the next time, They only take cash if you take advantage of offers.

Rajni was recommended by a friend. We came on a Tuesday when it was £12pp for 4 courses. You read that right ..£12pp. Firstly the restaurant was packed which made for a very good atmosphere. The decor and lighting are bright and the seating comfortable. Table decor was minimal *a criso white table cloth) which I find to be the best thing at any Indian restaurant as space is always needed for plates and dishes. Even though the restaurant was full, the service received from all of the staff was exemplary. There was such a genuine feel that the staff wanted to make sure that our visit was everything that we wanted it to be. The choices for all courses were more than sufficient for all of us to have what we liked and the food didn't disappoint. The whole dining experience went way beyond my expectations. Thank you to all of the staff involved.

Friendly service , quick to bring your food out, food was excellent and at £22 ahead for 2 courses and sides very reasonably priced, doesn't have a alcohol licence so you do have to bring your own , soft drinks are available at the restaurant

I have been into the restaurant and had takeaway from Rajni and I highly recommend either, the food is very nice all good portions and well priced. Breads and rices are also good. I like the bring your own drinks aspect as you dont find many places like that anymore making it fun to go with friends. The downstairs isn't massive but the food and service more than make up for it. After disappointing curry elsewhere it's a nice change to find a reliable place.

Forgot 1 pilau rice but food quality was spot on

I ordered Cauliflower Bhaji, Chana Bhaji, Cheese Paratha and Vegetable Madras. Delivered on time, hot. Spicing impeccable, bread tasty. Reasonable pricing. Only minus point was that frozen cauliflower seemed to have been used.

Meal was great but late . This seems to be a problem for Rajni as it not the first time it’s been late.

If you like fish curry, I can highly recommend the spicy monk fish. Excellent. I'd go so far as to say the best I've ever had.

The food was great and I will certainly be coming back, it is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer) place meaning you must bring your own alcohol however in a pinch there is a co-op just across the road

Food was great but there was no mint sauce with the onion bhaji starter or any onion salad or mango chutney with the popadoms as usual my lamb tikka curry was just a basic lamb one but it was nice but not what I ordered or paid for Overall the restaurant is good but always seem to get part of the order wrong or miss items

Normally a great experience. We normally get 4 full poppadoms but today just had 1 broken up poppadoms. Also we ordered meat samosas but got veg samosas.

I've been to Rajni restaurant with my sister in law a couple of times since covid and we've had delicious food with excellent service. This weekend we've had family visiting from Retford and London so decided to order a takeaway ,Rajni, you didn't let us down, the delivery was bang on time, the food was hot and delicious again. Our guests were very impressed and there's plenty left for my husband and me to have another curry night tonight . Thank you so much. X

The food tasted really good but for how long we had to wait it should have at least been hot as we were 5minutes down the road. Was given 1h-1h20 and it took closer to 2h.

I would score higher if I could. I have eaten here twice now, once in the restaurant and once takeaway! The food is impeccable and maybe the best Indian food I personally have had. The depth of flavour, the taste and quantity is just sublime not to mention the incredible staff
