Bay Of Bengal Tandoori Restaurant in Erewash

Our first time ordering a take away with Bay of Bengal. Since the pandemic we've found our previous go to places have provided mediocre food wrapped in poor customer service, it left us very reluctant to order takeaway Indian food. Having missed having flavoursome Indian food we trawled the reviews on the internet and decided to try Bay of Bengal and WOW are we so glad we did. We ordered tonight and have thoroughly enjoyed our food. Thank you so much, our first but definitely not last meal with the team at Bay of Bengal ❤️❤️❤️

This place has the best food and is so welcoming. I love seeing every person who comes in being greeted like a friend. The food is out of this world. Genuinely the BEST curry I have ever had. Amazing with the kids and just a great night.

Fantastic food been here before (inside) but this time we were staying down the road at the Little Stryne Campsite so placed a large order over the phone and was told it would be ready in 50 mins. 40 mins later got a call to say it was just being bagged up so went to collect. Fantastic front of house service, back at the site the order was spot on with no issues and the food was 5 ⭐️

A group of us went tonight for a birthday meal. 1st time we have dined in. The food was fantastic. Quick service, amazing food with beautiful flavours. No complaints at all. Definitely be back.

Wow! From start to finish an amazing evening meal. Our waiter was so so friendly and attentive and suggested the best meals. He took a risk and persuaded our daughter to try a different meal from her order and said if she didn't like it she could have something else for free. He was amazing ( Shoes)! We will absolutely definitely be back! Oh my gosh the food was amazing!!!! Gone home with two nice take away left overs too!

What an amazing evening meal. Informal and friendly. We had the most amazing service from our waiter ( Shoes) who was able to recommend amazing dishes based on things we said we liked. I honestly think that I have eaten some of the best food I have ever eaten! The service was just so amazing from start to finish and the food delicious. Our 9 year old summed it up perfectly: "you will be seeing us again!" A lovely place for an unpretentious, delicious evening meal.

Superb Indian food. BYO alcohol makes it alot more affordable to have a nice night out. One of my favourite Indian food restaurants. On their night as it was this night they are the best.

I went for the Monday offer . I asked about it but when I came to pay the bill I was told I’d gone off the main menu. I had made it obvious I’d come in for the offer. When ordering why wasn’t I told what I’d ordered wasn’t on the Monday night offer. Speaking to others about this I was told that it had happened to them or people they knew had been there. I felt ripped off when I came out

Food is good but warming the place with a calor gas heater and switching it off every so often is not comfortable.

A great little restaurant. Food is excellent and staff are friendly and engaging. Prices are keen. Definitely worth another visit.

Ordered midweek. Nearly 2 hours for delivery. Bland curries and overall quality in general was poor. Overflowing with oil in the curry and ended up throwing it away! As none of us were enjoying it. Disappointed after seeing such good reviews online.

Thanks for the great take out while we were staying at beechwood campsite. Food all lovely and hot. Will definitely be back again when we are here next year

The manager/owner greeted us and he was so friendly and welcoming. What a lovely man! Starters were really tasty and the mains even better!! Was a little disappointed they didn't do any desserts at all. But such value for money, we will definitely be back again!!

Prices gone up but everything else is the same. Now charging relatively high end prices for the same quality of food. Decor hasn’t changed and remains tatty. Place was very cold.

What a great place the is tasteful with out blowing your head of with the heat. Great staff who are friendly and approachable with good banter. We have been a lot now and not had a bad experience 😃

Friendly staff, lovely curry. Special offers Mon and Wed too! Highly recommend. Lamb saag is my new favourite but if you feel adventurous and fancy something sweet, try the banana curry - nicer than it sounds!!

We were passing through Borrowash on our way north. Staying at a local campsite we wandered into the town and found this restaurant. It was closed to inside dining because of Covid and they were decorating ready to open. They stopped and chatted, really friendly and welcoming people. Take away was good, big portions and full of flavour. If we are ever back this way we would definitely go there again.

New to Borrowash, Indian meal wanted tonight. Bay of Bengal takeaway ordered. Onion Bhaji. Poppadoms. Garlic chilli chicken. Malaysian Chicken. Pilar Rice. Garlic & cheese Naan We were not disappointed, generous portions, great looking, very tasty, fresh tasting and promptly delivered. They are definitely getting future business from us.

I can't believe we haven't thought to order a takeaway from here before! The food was delicious. We had a balti, chef's special chicken tikka and a rezala. Mum was really impressed as it is her birthday. Thank you!

We use the Bay regularly with friends but this has been our 1st visit since entering tier 2. Was a bit concerned that all would be ok but wasn’t disappointed. The team were friendly, as always, sanitiser available as you enter and tables spaced well. Buckets were at every table to dispose of empties and napkins. Food arrived quickly and was really good. A really good family evening out.

Lovely staff, very friendly and very conscious of covid restrictions (doing their job but I despise all this mask wearing rubbish) main course food absolutely excellent, avoid kids ice cream as puddings as they're overpriced and of dubious quality.

Went to this restaurant Saturday. In most restaurants tables have been removed to keep people separated but NOT here. Crowded with people sitting back to back. No hand sanitizer on tables. Had to cross the road to get cash as card machine not working although no mention of this was made on booking. You would think we were living in a COVID free world. Not a comfortable experience. My advice would be not to go. It’s all about profit and not customer safety

Very tasty food and the staff were very friendly

Food was beautiful as always, however the service left a lot to be desired. We were waiting 1hr 15 mins between starter and main, which is unacceptable. We were given a legitimate reason, however this was given when the bill was presented after explaining our dissatisfaction. Had the reason been given to us prior to service then we could've made a decision to go elsewhere, or prepare ourselves for the long wait, however being left in the lurch was unacceptable.

First time trying this place and well.. where do I start. I called firstly to check if they delivered to our area. They was very honest and told us that they are busy and that there would be a slightly longer waiting time. For this, I appreciated their honesty and it wasnt a problem. We are just on the border to where they deliver to, but the food came piping hot. Fresh, clean and absolutely beautiful. We have never tried Bangladesh curries before. But the flavours in each dish were amazing. Everything wrapped separately,I honestly couldnt fault their service. Everything from start to finish was great, their customer service skills, there honesty and their food quality and also the politeness from the owner shooz. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Although I think I will be collecting in the future or eating in. Only because it would be quicker (that's not a complaint though, as I say they were honest before I placed my order that the delivery time would be longer) so shooz, thank you and we will be coming to est in or collect very soon. Many thanks the pain in the butt.

Just wow! Awful! Walked out after five minutes. Rude staff because we hadn’t booked, even though it was empty except for one table. My hubby had run straight to the loo on arrival and left me to speak to staff. I was made to feel like they were doing me a huge favour by trying to find me a table for two in an empty restaurant. Meanwhile I’m surveying the place. Dirty, too bright, scruffy decor and valor gas heater. Hubby came out the loo and I grabbed his hand, made my apologies and left. Hubby said the loos were filthy, hadn’t seen bleach for months and stunk of urine 🤢

Had a really nice meal here, all four of us had brill food, starters and main course. Chicken tikka masala 2 chicken buhnas and a vegetable pyriani all were great. Highly recommended to all.

Booked a table 2 weeks ago for 2 adults 2 children to arrive to be told they had booked for 8 people and we were at the table at the back near the toilets. Seeing as it was their error asked if we could sit at the nicely laid table for 4 at the window. was told no that was booked before we booked. so off we went like 2nd class citizens to the back. dirty table cloth, no glasses was not even laid. so I went and complained. to be moved to just outside the kitchen. At which point we just left. So so disappointing this restaurant has had lots of business through me I won't be going again. It was my daughters first visit she was looking forward to it. if I had know you could pre book which table you wanted to sit at I would have asked. obviously saved for someone more specialike big spenders probably. Thank you for ruining what was supposed to be a nice family evening out.

No frills clean but basic. food very nice staff are great. Take your own alcohol if you desire and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit

6 of us went to this restaurant FoodThe food was not bad except mine which was burnt to a crisp. The others food were ok.ServiceWe were waiting a long time for our drinking water the service was not too bad but could have been better.We had to remind staff about things as the evening progressed. PaymentThis was an ordeal I gave the money with a tip but said that I had to pay my share on a card. I got the impression that this was an ordeal as the gentleman snatched the money out of my hand! Then before I was ready with my card he shoved the payment machine in front of me. How much ? I said wait a minute. After I got my card out we did the business and there was no thank you! So I grabbed my card back and stood up to leave.

I have been eating here for some years and the chef makes the most individually delicious curries. I tend to choose off the specials menu which offers a great choice. One of the things that makes a curry is the rice, they serve the most delicious grain rice (try the garlic rice). The staff are always so accommodating and friendly. All in all it’s a gem !

Went here with a group of friends. Was a bit disappointed when I walked in as it was a bit untidy and looked like a school canteen as others have mentioned. On the positive side the food was good and the staff friendly. Is an ok restaurant if you just want a curry with no frills

The best curry house for miles around. I know no other as good. A most enjoyable experience. Great proprietor who Sat and discussed his menu with our anti curry friend. Our friend had a curry for the first time in his life and was delighted. He asked for a menu to be signed by Mamoud, the proprietor, as proof he had eaten a curry. Evidence to show his friends at the golf club!

Went there last night with a group of 15 blokes. The staff were as friendly as ever and really enjoyed the night. As a larger group we asked them to provide a full meal for a price of £15 per head which they were very happy to do. We had a range of mild to hot curries, starters, nans, rice, pickles etc. We tried our best to finish it all but failed ! Unlicensed so bring your own beers. Its very popular so there often is a slightly longer wait on a Friday or Saturday night, but its well worth it.

We really like the food here, but don't really like how the staff can sometimes be a bit 'over familiar' - keep it professional guys. Also, the place has about as much ambience as a school canteen - some pleasing decor/paint job needed, and lower level lighting is what's needed to make this place the complete package.
