I went to this restaurant because I assumed it would serve Rajasthani food, however it was disappointing because there was nothing from Rajasthanian food beside name. More ethical and behaviour training is required for the staff. Look like its a family run business. All the members minding their own business. The food was pricey, and the quality was poor. This is not a restaurant I would recommend for lunch or dinner.

The Rajasthan, just outside Monument tube station, is in a time warp as this traditional City curry house, which unsurprisingly curries favour with Cityfolk, who tend to become increasingly raucous through the meal. Don't be fooled, this restaurant has little to do with Rajasthan, or even India. It may pretend to be Indian food but it's entirely run by Bangladeshis, so their influence in the cooking is unmistakable. For example, the curries tend to be significantly sweeter and contain more gravy and oil than traditional Indian cooking. It should also be remembered that Rajasthan may be known for its colours - but it's certainly not known for its food. But without wanting to nitpick too much, if you're with a bunch of friends, you *may* well have a good time. The staff here certainly excel at plonking down the Cobras, making sure that any diner's glass that is less than 80% full - gets topped up with alacrity. Between the six of us we tried the chicken do piaza, saag gosht, both passable - but not really traditionally Indian. I'd have to say the naans were excellent. As were the Cobras.

A very popular and busy London restaurant. I have been served extremely efficiently though, the fastest service ever. The food is very high quality, the staff are rushing about serving everyone so don't really have time to chat I guess but still pleasant etc. will defo come back here. I read some of the low reviews and I guess if your local Indian staff stop and chat etc. and also take their time and let you sit for an hour or two, this would be a different experience , but it's London and the way it is. It isn't expensive, the staff are pleasant and the food is excellent throughout.

Traveled to London with my family and decided to try this place out. We eat Indian food quite often in the states, and I've eaten at other Indian food restaurants in London as well as other England cities. I can honestly say, this was the best Indian food I've ever tasted. All 3 meals and the appetizers we ordered were outstanding. It was so good, I had to tell the manager or owner (not sure if he was both). Service was great as well. If I ever travel back to London, I'll make a point to eat here again. Thanks.

I have been coming to the Rajasthan for over 15 years and all that time the standard of the food and the service have been exemplary. The staff have always taken care of us. When it comes to the food I would recommend the slow cooked lamb dishes from the Lamb Rezala through to hottest Lamb Vindaloo. The other dish I would recommend would be the Jhinga Achari (prawn dish). The curry that comes with this dish is simply delicious. It's not a hot dish but very tasty!!!!! The biriyani is pretty good too. When it comes to beers they stock both Cobra and Kingfisher. My personal choice would be Kingfisher as it just has a crisp clean taste to it. If you're a good boy then you will be offered a post meal drink. What's not to like. Get down there and experience it. UPDATE: 11 July 2024. Just come here tonight and the curry was superb. The whole group enjoyed their curries. The standards are still superb sir.

I recently dined here and I wish could give zero stars for service, unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. It was a hot day when we entered the restaurant, having brown skin we were offered corner table despite the restaurant was not busy maybe they didn't wanted to spoil their aesthetic. They created unpleasant atmosphere indicating to leave the restaurant. While, I was having a bite of poppadom from my plate they shifted my plate. They were waiting for us to finish the food and roaming continuously to grab plates from table, it was unpleasant dining experience, their staff interrupted us during our meal multiple time.. I felt extremely discriminated here. I won't be returning here and would not recommend it to others. There are much better dining options in the area.

I typically do not handle spicy food well, which I shared with our waiter, and he recommended a delicious dish. My partner on the other hand loves spicy food, and another great recommendation was made. On top of the delicious food, the staff was so attentive and kind, in addition to offering their recommendations on the menu items they checked up on us multiple times and and cleared the table as fast as possible after a dish was finished. I’ve been dining here for maybe 10 years and have must have visited on at least 50 occasions. There’s a reason for that. The food’s delicious. A friend of mine and discerning gourmand if ever there was one has been known on occasion to indulge in a solo lunchtime meal he enjoys it so much. I normally opt for the slow cooked Lamb Jalfrezi or slow cooked lamb Rezalla and definitely recommend both. If you’re looking for a proper fill-up I’d also recommend the Onion Bhajis. These have a subtle aniseed flavour which I’m guessing is fennel. Finally, my go-to beverage of choice at the Raj is lager. There are two options – Kingfisher and Cobra. What’s not to like about that? Tasty!

Genuinely the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Food was terrible, we barely ate any of it. The butter chicken is a god awful creamy mess - disgusting. The waiting staff cannot stand still and are constantly walking around the restaurant trying to act busy, and end up interrupting you every couple of minutes. They moved plates around on our table for no reason a few minutes after putting the food down. Every time I had a sip of beer they topped my glass up. Felt like they were just trying to get the food and drink in you as quickly as possible so you would buy more or leave the restaurant. Due to the layout of the tables, it is cramped inside and the staff knock your chair each time they walk past you, which is every 30 seconds because of this weird non-stop overbearing 'service'. Cannot understand the positive reviews - truly atrocious food & experience.

We arrived quite late but they seated us and we proceeded to order. The food was actually quite good and, whilst not cheap, fair enough given the location. The problem was that as the clock got close to eleven, one of the waiting staff turned into an arse - telling us the they shut at eleven and we should hurry up and go home. I stress this was one guy and the other staff were smiley enough (but did nothing about their rude colleague). I checked my Apple wallet this morning and I paid at 10:55, so it’s not like we were burning the midnight oil. Shame really because, as I said, the food was pretty good. But I won’t tolerate being treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer, so I won’t be back.

During that time they just kept giving out beers when people didn't even want them so guess want the alcohol bill was HUGE. We specified £25 per head and asked for a range of dishes with vegetarian and non-dairy included. We got ONE vegan dish and several spinach dishes that was it for that and then lots of only 2 variations on tomato based meat dishes. Plain naan and rice and guess what it was over £25 per head.

A naan….The plate was stained too. Food average. No salt or seasoning. Atmosphere average. The waiters were quite abrupt and rude. They didn’t listen to anything. I tried to tell them about the hair but was ignored. I asked for extra pilau and the waiter said, “he ordered for you” but everyone was ordering their own dishes. They were taking food items away that weren’t finished. When asking about allergies, they just pointed to the menu and said, “that”. Avoid.

Absolute worst experience ever. The owner literally insulted me when i asked about the nan bread that i order which didn’t arrive for a while. Very racist. They are not indian at all they are iranian and bengali imposters

Moti Mahal solía ser mi favorito restaurante indio en Londres y luego cerraron.

Price is what you pay, value is what you get. These sort of places are designed to extort maximum money from people who have never tasted good Indian food. Do yourself a favour and visit Southall or Wembley, you will get much better Indian food for a 10th of the price.

The idea is interesting, small plates but interesting and very well cooked. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. We've been a couple of times and will go again.

Its closed. Thank heavens. Dirty place. Oily food. Hideous. Had a photo of Princess Diana in the window so as to lure in punters. In the photo Diana is running away from this place.
