Purbani Tandoori in City of London, Westminster

Stumbles across this gem online, saw the good reviews and went to visit, and glad i did, what an amazing authentic indian place i have come across, the food was full of flavour and spices, the lamb was cooked so soft, there wasn't anything i could fault, customer service was fantastic, Saj thanks for all your recommended dishes, will be back again, so happy found home cooked food in a new home and area.

Staff are nice enough but very insistent we leave a review, which in hindsight might not have been in their best interest. Best food was the pappadam which I’m yet to see any restaurant do wrong. Ordered garlic naan, peshwari naan, and paneer tikka masala. Naans were very doughy peshwari just consisted of coconut and no dried nuts or fruit, garlic naan a bit sweet. Paneer tikka masala was disappointing, far too sweet, and lacking any authentic flavours. The sauce/gravy didn’t seem fully blended, paneer pieces themselves were fine though. The service was good, though I personally wouldn’t eat here again.

We had a party of 6 celebrating a 70th birthday. The food was amazing, the staff so attentive and we had a fabulous evening.

Lovely friendly service. Great tasting food. It’s a bring your own drinks. So even better value.

I have been eating at Purbani in Wanstead since 1986. It has retained its cosy and intimate atmosphere for all these years and the food is still fab, prepared freshly on site. Great you can BYO with M&S next door, meaning eating out stays affordable.

GREAT! little restaurant, cosy and warm, hospitality was amazing, customer service was very attentive, food was flavoursome, took me straight to India/bangladesh, shatkora lamb was sublime, chicken karai was spot on, we asked for everything to be cooked home style with spices, AMAZING, WE WILL BE COMING BAVK FOR MORE! Eccentric we found this place!

I’ve ordered takeaway before, but not like this, what amazing service and the food was top tier standard, the food arrived hot, even with minor delays the staff called and updated me keeping me assured, understandable as they were busy, the food was amazing packed full of flavour and spices, everything was perfect, thank you Purbani make sure you only order Indian here!

Purbani was lovely! Such a welcoming atmosphere from the staff 😊 they even added more coconut in my curry for me! I would just say the tables need to be wiped a little better as the plates stuck onto them, apart from that I would definitely recommend eating at Purbani 😍

This place has been around for 50 years And I decided to try it today I got a takeaway and it was a chicken dish with garlic ginger tomatoes and a masla dal with peshawar nan a sweet nan filled with coconut and a plain nan. Well I rang and the owners son who now runs the place was polite and courteous The food Wow 10.10 Was delicious And have to say I will re order Thankyou I try my best to give honest reviews and dont get paid But I think that others should know what they getting before ordering. We all want a good taste experience
