Amazing all round. Dined here this evening with my family- including my 11 month old. The food was amazing, one of the best Indians we’d had in a long time. The customer service was above & beyond. They were so welcoming, and had such a friendly atmosphere. Dining with a young child can be so stressful, but they were so accommodating & lovely. 100% recommend, and will be returning any time I’m in the area. I’d like to thank the staff for such a lovely & tasty experience x

31/1 had to send main meal back as it was warm not hot then it was returned after being reheated along with another portion would have been better to just replace the meal with a hot meal

Frankly speaking, as an indian, this is one of the worst Indian restaurants I've tried in my life. I ordered Butter Chicken, Keema naan and Chilli paneer. I also tried chicken tikka which my dad ordered for himself but decided to give it to me. Butter chicken was so sweet that you could instantly get diabetes just from eating that. Keema naan was denser than the Earth and the keema easily came off the bread like the skin from easy peel tangerines. It felt more like eating a massive baguette with a mcdonalds burger patty. Chilli paneer was very oily; they put more oil in that thing than the total amount of oil every fast food chain in the world uses. Finally the chicken tikka was drier than the Sahara desert and had a taste more disgusting than raw chicken. I don't know how on earth this restaurant has 4 stars. I can guarantee the owner probably looks for homeless people in London and pays them to eat there and then make them give amazing reviews. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try the worst food possible as some challenge or whatever. I was asked which food I would recommend. I would highly recommend trying out the dump people take after eating from here which would definitely taste a thousand times better than the food itself!

This restaurant is the best I’ve ever been to, the atmosphere is amazing, everyone is so friendly. The service is great, all smiles and laughter as well as the food which is bursting with flavour! As we received our food, the customers next to us were getting jealous of our food as we were of theirs, jokes aside I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. It is an amazing for a date night with your husband/wife and a nice evening with your family. Personally, I enjoyed my food leaving with nothing left on my plate. My dish was the king prawn puree and I just love the flavours, the masala and the puree itself and I could keep having that on repeat. I will never get tired of their food!

Me and my wife found this gem and made it our regular place the food is full of taste and the staff are very welcoming and friendly I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to enjoy good food but not hurt their pockets.

We had a delicious meal and the waiting staff were fabulously attentive and polite. The portions weren't massive but a good size - and I prefer it as restaurants often over serve. The decor and lighting is quite stark though with bright white spotlights and white walls - I prefer more colour in the decor and lighting to be warmer and dimmer. With table candles added it would feel hugely more relaxed and cosy, particularly as it's only very small with only 30 covers. Really pleasurable otherwise, thanks!

We walked passed this place, And the amazing smells of the food that were coming out of the restaurant, Made us go in, what an amazing tiny cozy little place this is, The service was top, great friendly staff, great recommendations were given, the food was top packed full of flavours and spice, we had lamb shatkora, naga chilli chicken which was hot spicy like we love it, mutton ginger bhuna, and sizzling lamb jalfrazi, with the rest of the condiments and side dishes, everything was spectacular, won't be out last visit, so greatful that we stumbled across this place, it's been there 45 plus years, where have I been! Came here for a evening meeting with my media team, They were busy at the time, still accommodated 5 of us, Very small cosy atmosphere, Service 5/5 even though it was busy, Food was amazing, Starters hit the spot, we had a Purbani Platter, Somosa and onion bhajis, great litter setting, the main food the lamb shatkora was fantastic full of flavour spices, garlic chilli chicken, chicken was soft garlic was abit to much but still was delicious, and we bad slow cooked Mutton Ginger Bhuna, If you're a ginger fan go for this, they do offer chicken and sea food/fish alternative, In total very fair priced, food was full of flavour service was fast and steady, Being the first time here, I've been past those place so many times what a hidden Gem! Keep up the great work Purbani won't be our last time 👌🏽👌🏽

Had an early dinner at Purbani- really impressed by the variety of vegetarian options including interesting side dishes we would have liked to have tried but it was just the two of us! The papadams were flavourful and the chutney thick unlike some places where it's too runny. Also was impressed by the range of vegetables in the vegetable curries including okra, aubergine etc. Generous amount of mushroom in the mushroom rice too. Enjoyed the Paneer Naan- not something you see in a lot of restaurants. As we were early there weren't any other dine-in customers at the time but the service was friendly and the bathrooms clean.

Wonderful food and service. Defo recommended for all who love to do Indian. Such a posh restaurant and amazing Chicken Tikka Biryani! Many thanks to the owner, Mr Dulal to make our time so very special in all possible ways!!

Came with my family what a tremendous small cosy place this is, great customer service they were fully booked and still managed to fit us in, the food was delicious they catered to all our allergy needs, Their head waiter helped us with recommended dishes, which were so great will recommend, even took an extra takeaway, thank you Purbani, first time but not my last.

It had been a long time since I had enjoyed a Balti after many great experiences in Birmingham. After last night delivery, I had to check whether my memory wasn't failing me. Sorry but what makes the base of the real McCoy is Onions, just like bread for a sandwich. The £13.95 dish I ordered was anything but a Balti.

Nice food, great service and good atmosphere. We left full, happy and satisfied, but £62 for 2 people without drinks ??? 3 main dishes. Not complaining, but if it had been £42 not £62 would come back often ...

I never used to like curry much untill i came to Purbani. 3 years on not once have i had the means to fault them for their service and quality of food, recommend it 110% 2023 UPDATE: I have been coming here ever since my last review 5 years ago. It annoys me to see some of these negative reviews which I believe are made to pull potential customers away, do not listen to them, the food and service is top notch and they are always accomadating to your needs and wants. They never disappointed me. Still a 5/5

So I first had food from here as a take away which was sooo good - so I thought lemme come here in person and see! The food did not disappoint. Starter: onion Baji tasted good was very shy on the salad that comes on the side a very very small amount Mains: lamb curry, chicken biryani ,lamb korma, chicken tika , mushroom rice All tasted great !! Well deffo be back ! Just needs some music to create a lil more atmosphere and u can bring ur own alcohol soft drinks are expensive though.

The restaurant is a very small one, very tight spacing, run as an Indian restaurant but completely demeans the taste and delicacy of authentic Indian food (being an Indian, I can guarantee you that Indian food is much better than what they serve). The menu mentions "no service charge", but the owners are crooked and charge 10% service charge which is hidden and is not even mentioned on the paper pen bill, it couldn't have been "corkage charges" coz we didn't have any drinks except Coca Cola for which we were charged in the bill. We asked them and they were adamant saying "we don't mention in the bill about the service charge". Additionally, they charged 0.50£ extra to what the menu mentions for an item. A restaurant which doesn't give you a proper bill and has such hidden charges, should be seen for tax evasion as well. This was my second visit in two days because there was no option for me for Indian food near my place of stay, during the first visit, there was no service charge levied. Not going to visit again. I would request my Indian friends who visit London to not ever visit this restaurant. Worst experience.

Poor veg balti, few vegetables that seemed in texture, taste appearance to be made mainly from frozen vegetables. Bland sauce with coriander leaf cooked in despite my request for no coriander leaf. Tasteless chappatti. Husband’s king prawn biriyani and madras sauce was also disappointingly bland. Fast service but one waiter lacked any friendliness. Small portions. In response to the owner’s comment, this was the Wanstead restaurant opposite Wanstead station and by Wetherspoons

Ordered a delivery of chicken balti with rice & garlic naan. Used Uber eats which had the restaurant rated at 4.7, but regretted not checking out the Google reviews first. Delivery done by restaurant not Uber eats. Food arrived late and lukewarm. Balti was bland, lacking spice and under seasoned. Source looked and tasted generic rather than specific to the dish. Will not order from here again. Hope I'm not on the toilet tomorrow...

Ordered a lamb tikka wrap was gross. Too salty and I literally threw it in the bin after one bite so annoyed what a waste of money. Also ordered their veg pakora. What in the benvali pakora was that. Was literally half a potato fried. Never oredering from here again!!!

I’ve been a few times and taken a group of friends, husband and family on various occasions. The food has always been delicious and freshly cooked. The mushroom rice was beautifully spiced and moorish. I also had the Goan Xcuti and although not perfectly authentic was still tasty. Service is very good, warm and attentive and you can take in your own alcohol. Jewel in the crown of Wanstead.

Our first visit. Very small cosy restaurant. Best for couples and groups of four. Bring your own drinks. (We just popped into M&S next door). Staff were friendly. We were charged a service charge, but it wasn't itemised or shown on the bill, luckily I'm good at maths... but there was no apology when this was pointed out. Toilets clean and bright. Individual dishes were okay...a bit English. But better than some other places. Why most (Wanstead based - I think I have tried them all) Indian restaurants don't actually use enough Indian herbs and spices in their food is beyond me.

After 20 odd years, the place still looks like an old Indian restaurant well past its hey day. No competition since zainab went mental with its anti everyone menu. Personally I don’t know how anyone is still eating there. I don’t know how marks and Spencer’s manage. Food is bland,a bit greasy and average.

We went there for thali. Food is average. Lamb n chicken had smell that I don't like totally. They said it comes with naan but it's not naan. It's tandoori roti. Taste like shop brought. I think they didn't make it at the restaurant.

We ordered takeout a few days back during our stay in London and were absolutely appalled by the quality of the food. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the absolute worst indian food that the four of us have ever tasted. We ordered three different curry dishes: Chicken Tikka Masala, Fish Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. All of the curry dishes tasted as if they were completely saturated in sugar. No hint of spice or proper curry taste whatsoever. The sugary residue literally sat on our taste buds for hours afterwards. The fish curry was cooked with salmon (which we found to be odd) and had the texture of microwaved leftovers. Two of us had gastrointestinal issues the next day. We tried following up with the boss on multiple occasions to express our frustration and to see if they would credit us back our 46£. It took numerous calls before we were offered any compensation at all. The boss continued to evade us for some time. Finally another staff member came back with an offer for a future credit of 25£. Unfortunately that will do us no good as we were just visiting friends in London on holiday and would never go back anyways. The kicker is we had intended to order from Purbani Tandoori near Highams Park but since we called this Purbani by accident and felt bad, we picked it up. Lesson learned!

Never Ordered From Here But Amazing Food Great Prices Ordered Bhyriani And Butter Chicken Both Amazing 🤩

We ordered selection of vegetarian dishes for delivery this evening. I ordered early in the afternoon for 6pm delivery which was on time. But all the dishes tasted much the same, there was no depth of flavour, nothing interesting about the food at all. I cook a lot, and we seldom have takeaways - about 1 in 2 years - and this was supposed to be a treat for my birthday, but I can cook much better myself and with less mess to clear up. The naan bread was sweet, there seemed to be sugar in everything. The chutney was thin, possibly watered down, and the raita was curdled and disgusting. Never again, thank you. I wish I'd taken notice of the bad reviews.

As I say, really not usual experience from this restaurant so I called them to share my disappointment. I was offered a 20% discount on my next order which was frankly ridiculous given I currently had poor quality food in front of me at the time. I suggested 20% off current order which was agreed to but told would need to be processed next day as no manager on site. Unfortunately the refund has still not been received. I generally accept there may be problems from time to time but when a restaurant is given the opportunity to put it right and fails to do so, I think that is unacceptable. Either a full refund or replacement food would have been suitable in this instance.

Not ordered from Purbani for some time and noted how prices had gone up. Food arrived before allotted time but that’s a good as it gets. The curry was like water and tasteless, chicken so dry it was hard to cut. Every dish apart from rice in pools of oil. The rice was dry. Mango chutney also watery and tasteless. Worst Indian meal I have ever tasted!

Sadly I can only give a single star for the food arriving promptly. That is as good as it gets. The food had pools of oil on the surface, the meat was tough and dry. Taste was overall bland. Other reviews seem broadly ok so perhaps it was an off night but I won't be trying again.

Home Order Review. ALMOST 5 STAR!! I was very pleasently impressed with Purbani. I ordered a chicken Byriani and Onion Baji. The parcel came with complimentary papadams (very well appreciated), mango, chutney, yoghurt sauce without me having to ask. The onion baji was fantastically tasty, chicken byriani tasted good (but I needed to add a bit of salt) - lots of chicken in the byriani too. Byrianis come with a side (ubereats did not say or allow me to specify, but I assumed purbani's byriani did so left a note saying I prefer vegetable over dal). The vegetable side could be improved in flavour. I thought it needed a little boost in flavour. It had a traditional Bangladeshi veg called Okra which some may like (not my favourite as it makes the curry slimey and did not work well with the byriani). Overall very pleased with Purbani restaurants home delivery service. And very close to 5 star for me.

Cosy restaurant short distance from Wanstead Tube station and right next to the George pub. Friendly and helpful staff, pretty nice food too. It's not licensed so bring your own drink. Get one of the window seats and watch the world of Wanstead go by whilst you dine. 😊
