I ordered Madu Paneer which is supposed to be fairly hot and sweet. It was very mild without a hint of any chilli. The other dish which was prawn Bhuna was the same. The food tasted nice but it wasn't what I ordered. I even asked to make the Madu Paneer hot in the order notes. I called afterwards to give this feedback and the guy just said they were busy. He didn't even offer anything, for example he could have offered a free curry for next time and give me eventually what I asked for, since neither curry was what it should have been. He even claimed the Madu is usually mild which is not what it says on the menu at all. I spent £40 on a meal for two people. I'm disappointed as now they weren't even that sorry or bothered about losing two local customers when they could have just offered something for the next time. Shame...

The food was very good the service was good , I'm from Yorkshire so the drinks were expensive I would definitely recommend but I didn't like the 10 percent service charge.

Tried Raj Bari for the 1st time after recommendation from a friend....absolutely beautiful food 😋 perfectly cooked extremely friendly staff and my husband even asked my to ring and tell them it's the best curry he's eaten in 15 years in Bristol .....we shall be ordering again very soon Julie & Martin Lewis

After seeing this place win an award on Facebook we visited for the. First time and wow the staff is amazing and the food is outstanding full of flavour even busy on a Tuesday night we will definitely be back served by anis What a great guy

I can't recommend this restaurant enough. We had a lovely meal last night for my mothers birthday. Food was delicious and staff were lovely. They brought out a birthday cake and sang for my mother, and even offered her a free drink at the end. Parking, additionally, was free and right outside the restaurant. We will be back!

Went with some pals from football. Best curry in Bristol. A cut above the rest in my opinion. Chicken Dhansak and Lamb pasanda especially. The manager Anis is also a top bloke and makes you feel very welcome. Visit this place if you appreciate curry with a touch of class.

Born and bred in Bristol. Been to an awful lot of Curry houses in my time. Went back to my absolute favourite tonight - RAJ BARI on Hotwell Road. Fantastic hospitality. Superb food. Hot and snappy Poppdoms, light and fluffy Onion Bhaji, beautiful tender lamb Dansak (lamb 'fall-apart tender - spicy, seet and tasty) and glorious Mushroom rice. A little bit full. A lot satisfied. One of the best lamb dhansaks ever!!! And I had my first ones in Birmingham in the 70s at The Curry King. This curry had the perfect balance of sweet and sour plus just the right amount of spice! Lovely - will definitely be back. Thanks guys!

Honestly the best food I've had wouldn't recommend to anyone who likes it spicy or not so much just ask the waiters and they'll recommend what's just for you. Great service and the waiters are absolutely amazing so please have a try.

We popped in after watching a rugby game at Ashton Gate. Staff were all very friendly. Drinks and popadums and starters all came very quickly. Food was all delicious.

The food was so full of flavours and absolutely delicious, I highly recommend checking this hidden gem out and also very good service, I will be back again.

Definitely a 5-star experience at The Raj Bari. The 2 of us visited this evening for dinner & were blown-away by the new menu choices. There was absolutely nothing wrong with their old menu but the new one made it a much harder choice to make! The paneer shashlik was so tasty & delicious & the lamb chilli balti was so tasty & full of flavour. Great fluffy fresh plain naan bread too. The starters were plentiful & there was a great choice. The drinks & service were both great. Very attentive & helpful waiters. Great parking options outside. The perfect evening out. Well worth a visit - you won’t be disappointed!

A great find. Small restaurant slightly out of town but it's a hidden gem. Beautiful, rich curries with amazing flavours. If you fancy a damn good curry when you're in Bristol. Look no further. Yep. I'm impressed.

14th feb 2024....our first visit and oh what a place...didnt expect the.place to look so small and unassuming....inside is just so tasteful. So, to the food and service..both equally second to none....we.got over excited and probably ordered enough food for 4..just because there was so much to choose from ....exquisite.....we didnt finish it but it was all.packed up for.us to take home 😋......so for THE most amazing,value for money,customer service and atmosphere....this is the place to go ...thank.you all at Rajbari

Dined here on Sunday evening, it was a little quiet but what it lacked in atmosphere it certainly made up for with service and food, the onion bhaji was crispy and light, the breads were fluffy and flavoursome, and the lamb sag was so tender and perfectly spiced, everything we ordered between the 3 of us comes out pipping hot and really tasty, we will definitely return it's a little away from the regular route around the docks, but worth the detour

A long walk from the centre of Bristol, and worth every step I can assure you! We had an Excellent Curry, was welcomed with friendly service and less than 30mins til closing time! Have added this place to my top 3 Indian Restaurants in the UK, and yes I've been to many! The Mixed Grill was perfection.

Ate here last Friday night. Table for 4 people. Lovely comfortable surroundings, nice ambience too. Given plenty of time to order, massive choice on the menu. Everything was amazing, starters, mains and sides (mushroom bhaji especially). Possibly the nicest curry I've ever had (we all said the same). Can't wait to return. Well done to the team for the whole experience!

Visited for my partners birthday. We arrived slightly early which wasn't an issue for the staff. Staff were very friendly, food was delicious, came out hot and tastied fresh. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again. Pictured is a plain naan, mushroom rice, prawn bhuna & lamb jalfrezi

Wonderful Indian food and very reasonably priced. The service was also excellent.

Unpleasant experience with food that lacked spiciness. Ordered the chicken bhuna, chicken biryani and aloo gobi. Food was aromatic and flavourful but with a complete lack of spiciness even though their menu said “medium”. Checked with the servers, who said it was supposed to be “mild” and “the British would find that spicy”. They offered green chillis to ensure that I “feel satisfied”, and charged £1 for a few whole chillis. What made the experience worse was a server who asked a lot of personal questions which I found intrusive. He also assumed that food from my hometown were spicy, which the fact was the contrary. Of note, they charged £6.3 for two papadoms and a condiment tray. While many Indian restaurants I have been to in this country offered them for free, at Raj Bari they were even more expensive than most of their starter options. Maybe it was a meal that “The British” would enjoy, but for me it was certainly unpleasant.

Ausgezeichnetes Essen in schöner Atmosphäre. Die Gewürze sind fein abgestimmt und nicht aufdringlich. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend. Für Vegetarier geeignet. Wir kommen wieder.

Went to our very favourite Indian restaurant tonight for our wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, as were the staff. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and the staff reserved a table with easy access for my powerchair. Thank you Raj Bari for a lovely evening. I would rate you 10 stars if I could! Angel & Gary

I went last night with my family. I stated clearly at order point Allergic to Lemon an coconut the waiter wrote it down and repeated it back to me to clarify. To my horror my curry came out with slice of lemon on top of it!!! When i pointed this out the waiter he laughed, then his superior came and asked if there was issue, explained allergic to lemon to which he found it funny too!!! Our meal cost £79 for 3 of us, I could of gone into anaphylaxis or worse case died and they found this funny! Clearly will not go back again as being allergic to something is serious matter, please staff an apology would been nice! To top it off out came the lemon hot wet wipe after meal!

This was the second time my girlfriend and I visited the restaurant together. The food and service were exceptional, with some great vegetarian options for myself.Charly had a chicken madras with a plain Naan and I had the butter chilli paneer with mushroom rice and a paratha - and we had a portion of chips between us.My butter chilli paneer was a perfect balance of hot and sweet, the paratha was perfect for dipping in the curry sauce and the mushroom rice was one of the best I've had, with wafer thin pieces of caramelised onion to accompany the mushrooms and Charlys Naan was beautifully crisp and fluffy.The waiting staff were lovely guys and even gave Charly a rose at the end of our visit.We will definitely be back again.

Tremendous Karahi well spiced and cooked to perfection. Prawn Dhansak has a great sauce. Nice atmosphere in a pleasant location by the harbour side, great for couples , will definitely come back

Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful.Returned after a very poor experience in December 21, hoping that the service would have improved. Sadly not. Staff were inattentive, had to badger the manager to order our main course, waited a further 70 minutes and had to badger again,. Deciding to leave, were asked by the manager if we had booked a table, implying that those that hadn’t (he had taken us to our table!), were last to be served! Incredibly poor customer service. The business is shockingly managed.

Stopped off on the off chance late on a Saturday evening with 3 friends, was given a table by friendly staff, served a choice of kingfisher or Cobra, went for both (both great) and was then served with probably the best Chicken Dansak I’ve ever had. Great food, great service, great value for money, highly recommend.

My husband and I dined here last night, we are down from Leamington Spa for a long weekend. We have enjoy Asian food in many of Restraunts all over the world and I can honestly say this was one of the very best we have tasted. The quality of the dishes & the delicate spices & flavours were exceptional. The staff were an absolute joy, professional & yet friendly & chatty too, they couldn't do enough for us. We would recommend this Restraunt to anyone who loves this type of food but wants to enjoy an exceptional authentic & rather special meal.

I am from London but working in Bristol.Nutmeg in Clifton is good, as is Urban Tandoor if you actually go there but if you order online beware as Urban Tandoor have a fake kitchen for Delivery which is nothing like eating there.So onto Raj Bari, i have not been there but will make sure i do. I have however had takeaways delivered from all over Bristol and Raj Bari is the best.The food is excellent and i always call them when ordering and they are friendly, professional and efficient to the extreme.This is a very good business with people who really care. I do not write reviews but i do when i feel i need to and this is one of them.The food is excellent. Simple as that. This is from someone who loves curry and has travelled all over the UK and Europe.Support these guys and give them a try, you absolutely will not be disappointed

We met up and didn’t stop talking. Staff were so patient with us as we must have taken 45 minutes to order. Everyone’s food was delicious, as always . They even cooked omelette and chips for one of our party who, for some reason, doesn’t like curry. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The authenticity of the place itself was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly. The food being 100% amazing just topped it all off. We had friendly conversations about the history of the place especially the hand crafted glass lighting decorations. The portions were great and very filling and thats coming from a girl that knows how to eat ! Would definitely be a regular!

The food was of a top quality Indian cuisine. The flavours were exquisite, the waiters were attentive, and helpful and the whole experience was great. If you want properly good Indian food, this is the place!
