Rainbow Chinese Restaurant in City of London, Westminster

No tengo idea de cómo era este lugar bajo los viejos dueños, pero ahora es muy agradable. Acabo de tomar una comida para llevar muy buena de House Chow Mien in Sauce y Xiu Mai dim sum dumplings. Tómalo de una persona asiática, la comida es decente. Hay comida china absolutamente terrible (como la de Rotherhithe Street), ¡pero esta no es una de ellas! La comida estaba caliente y sabrosa, cocinada a la perfección, y venía con galletas de gambas gratis. ¿Visitaría de nuevo?

La comida era increíble, el servicio era excelente, la ubicación es muy conveniente (al lado de la estación) y la comida no es demasiado cara. Una gran elección para mi y mis amigos

La comida tenía una excelente relación calidad-precio, ¡un pato entero (se alimenta a 5) por solo 27! El servicio es rápido y amigable. Y los camareros son excelentes personas, tenemos rollitos de primavera gratis. La comida es tan sabrosa que mi amigo Asain dijo que era mejor que lo que él tiene en casa. ¡Verdaderamente asombroso! Recomendaría.

Food selection was v poor compared to most Chinese buffets. Few options. Not replenished, many basic dishes ran low/empty for prolonged periods. Other items sat for ages, not even lukewarm; the buffet station equipment failed to keep things hot as well as foods not being regularly sufficiently replenished. Seemed to be lacking sufficient staff. Staff repeatedly ignored my requests for drinks, instead serving customers who had ordered after me. To enhance the atmosphere of disappointment, several other parties were *extremely* rowdy to the point that it was difficult to ignore and enjoy my meal. Others let their children run riot. The poor rating is for the food and service. I gave up and left thirsty and hungry. Most depressing meal I've had in a long time. Even worse than the sh*ttiest Chinatown buffet (not even joking).

Had a take away from this place, have used for a number of years. Food was okay and nothing special. Spring roles that I had were undercooked and only discovered when I got home. Quite pricey for a Chinese.

Went there after hearing they had changed owners. Will say it was alot better than the last time I visited. The adult buffet is £10.99 and £5.99 for children. The food was brought out freshly prepared and was of a good standard. A reasonable choice of dishes. Overall we were satisfied with the quality of the food and would go back in the future.

It appears that it is under new management again. Visited on Friday and it definitely has improved from our last visit. We did not go for the buffet although it looked ok. I chose the Malaysian curry with noodles and my husband had the sea food in black bean sauce, both very very enjoyable. We will give it another try soon to see if it is still meets our expectations.

Food was disappointing as I ordered King Prawn with Green Pepper and Black Bean Sauce and Rice and got Beef with Green Pepper and black Bean Sauce instead. This was a good restaurant under the previous management but since changed hands. Not using them again.

Good choice of food for the price paid (10.99) see pics. It was very quiet for a Saturday night if there was more customers the turnover and choice of food may have been extended. Crispy duck, prawns and mussels also included as well as fresh fruit, ice cream and Swiss roll for dessert. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend and will return!

Let me be frank. I’m lucky. I have native Chinese friends. When they cook, it’s not comparable with a British takeaway menu anywhere in this land. Like any international cuisine transplanted into the U.K., it’s been Anglicised for our palette. Adapted. Native Chinese probably aren’t rushing down to Chinese takeaway any evening of the week here! Why would they? They probably aren’t eating it! This place has been a community hub for years. There are gems to be had on the menu, and they’ve upped the flavour ante recently, changing the flavours of staple dishes like the special fried rice, curry sauce (nom) and the Singapore vermicelli. We’re partial to the Malaysian Curry Chicken, and you won’t go wrong with any of the vegetable dishes. Is this Hakkasan or Kai of Mayfair? Of course not! It’s a restaurant and take away in Rotherhithe! I’ve read the reviews here, I would not presume to suggest that we are all different and have different expectations. After a hard day or weeks work, I’m not adverse to a Rainbow take away or delivery. Take it...or leave it!

If your in the area its a great restaurant that server decent food and is cost effective. They also provide a buffet on sundays all you can eat #enjoy.

I personally find Chinese takeaways and restaurants to be a bit more inconsistent in terms of quality than you get with other cuisines so when you do find a good one, it's a stroke of luck. However, most are acceptable - nothing amazing but nice enough. However, this place has put me off getting another Chinese takeaway for a long time. I'd read some good reviews of the place so we gave it a chance but the food was just awful. The chilli beef was dry, bland and not very pleasant at all and the noodles were so salty, after a few mouthfuls, they had to go in the bin. I'm amazed how they could get it so wrong? If it wasn't for the other bad reviews, I'd think maybe the chef had been off that night. On the plus side, the staff were friendly!

Chilli beef was bone dry and very bland indeed - didn't seem to have any sauce on it at all and felt like you were eating all-batter twiglets with a few sliced chillis thrown in. Noodles with beansprouts were very salty and tasted strongly of seaweed (couldn't eat more than a couple of mouthfuls so ended up being wasted), and the BBQ noodles were reported to be bland as well. Vast improvements on food quality needed!

Food was a bit dry this time around but nice otherwise. Always order my Chinese food from here and always will. Also like to go into the restaurant for their buffet.

Mongolian Lamb is great as always but could come with pancakes. Shredded Beef with Chilli tastes good but needs more beef. Egg Fried Rice was hot and good quality but had no peas at all. Sweet and Sour Prawn Balls tasted good. Food was delivered quickly.

First, I'd like to point out that a £15 minimum spend is far too high. Most restaurants require £10 minimum spend which is already quite a lot, and when ordering just for one like myself a £10/£15 minimum is quite hard to reach unless you want to have a feast! Second, my delivery was 20/25 minutes late with no call from the restaurant or delivery driver to let me know this was the case. Rainbow always used to be fairly decent in its pricing, but has recently put its prices up making it no longer my go-to/first choice Chinese restaurant. Why would I choose to go there when there are many other Chinese restaurants in the area that offer food at just as good quality but for lower prices, and you don't have to spend a fortune before they'll deliver it for you?

Absolutely great! They even catered for all my awkward gluten free needs. Really helpful on the phone when I rang about dish modifications after ordering.

We never received the egg fried rice when calling the restaurant they advised it would be 30 minutes. Can we please refund the missing rice. The woman on the phone was not very helpful and did not apologise

Food and expectations doesn't meet at any kind of level. Ordered tom yom soup which was absolutely disgusting and cold, beef curry was full of oil and onions with nothing else. Is this what we call curry? My first and last order from this place which is not recommended for anyone else.

Very quick, arriving 20mins after order, however didn't get any plum sauce to go with the duck, which is my favourite bit.

The food was meant to be here by 7:40pm but came at 8:40pm. I wouldn't have minded but the restaurant is only 10 minutes away and the noodles tasted weird like a cabbage flavour, the squid was very dry and chewy. Unfortunately this restaurant is only good as a buffet on the weekends. Will not be ordering again.

Duck pancakes were lovely! However the chicken chow mien and mixed meat chow mien were awful! Unlike any other chinese chow mien i've ever had. The texture was very odd and the meat (particularly the chicken) was like rubber. Collection time was spot on but definitely not worth the money... never again.

WanTon soup tasted nothing short of weird/bland/off. Salt and chilli King Prawns were OK, nothing special. Vegetable chow mein was nothing special either. The greatest pro was the food was not greasy like most takeaways.

Order due to arrive at 7.20pm. Nothing shows up. I call the restaurant, and a lady tells me "the order it's on its way out" without even apologize. 20 more minutes pass, bringing the total waiting time to over two hours. Not cool.

The food was quite tasty and was delivered on time. The only thing I didn't like was food was a bit oily though I did mention in my note that I don't like oily food. However, this may not be possible always to adjust in a takeaway set up perhaps.

Really enjoyed our meal. 15 mins quicker than we thought at 7.45pm on a Saturday is good! Good quality (better than some other more expensive places we've tried. Will be our new go to place!

Came in here for the buffet .. There were empty food trays in most of the dishes . The food that was left was cold and at the bottom of the trays. The coke was flat and the Ice cream was watery . This is possibly the worst Chinese meal ever and we definitely won't be going back. EVER!!!

Ordered a takeaway on 6/3/16, had to ring them up after l hour to find out if they was still coming, once it arrived had to throw away the chips all brown and greasy, the rest of the food was terrible, full of old vegetables really horrible, my son wanted to take it all back but l said just throw it away and we will never use them again a waste of money don't bother its really the pits.

Después de probar este restaurante con la familia. La comida estaba bien. Cálido no estaba caliente. (estilo buffet). La selección estaba bien. La única cosa que estropea fueron las bebidas £2.50 por una lata de coca-cola. Cuando les comentamos diciendo menú dice £2. dijeron que era para una copa. Cuando le dije que no estaba contento con él no diciendo que en el menú. dijeron que fueron impresos mal ... No me impresionó. Coca-cola también eran pack múltiple que decir no a la venta separada. No tengo ningún problema con la gente haciendo un beneficio pero debe ser en el menú

Aparentemente pequeño en el exterior, Rainbow es sorprendentemente amplio por dentro. Los jueves y los viernes celebrar un banquete dentro. Relación calidad-precio es fresca y sabrosa y muy buena. En comparación con Londres y al norte de la capital del petróleo, que tiene mucho que ofrecer y creo que, en una gran relación calidad-precio! Yo personalmente se quedó con ganas de nada y creo que me tenía hambre al entrar. Una gran selección y no demasiado concentrado con ese sabor salado, tan evidente con banquetes chinos. La sopa, el pato tortitas y la enorme variedad de diversos platos ... ¡Perfecto!
