Mr Chow in City of London, Westminster

The restaurant's prices are not simple, yet the employees get angry when you don't pay for the service, which is optional and not mandatory. When I asked the employee to remove the service charge from the bill, he told me that he will not give you a table again! Considering himself the owner of the restaurant or that I am present as his guest! I pay for my food in the restaurant and he has no favor over me. When I asked the employee at the reception to give me his name, she did not give it to me. My question is, does the restaurant belong to the employees and is the customer obligated to pay for the service, which is optional for the customer and not mandatory! Or am I forced to pay them this fee or will the treatment be different? They are really bad and are insulting the branch in London.

The food is less than normal, an experience I will not repeat. The employees are helpful and cheerful.

If I can rate this restaurant 0 star I would. The food was fine. I was expecting better service since it is a fancy dine in restaurant I was there with my friends the way they spoke to us while taking the order was so rude. the manger was trying force us to pay £51 service charge and when we refused he raised his voice on us and kept speaking rudely + he wanted to charge us on the to-go boxes!!! I don’t recommend going to this restaurant at all unless you want to humiliate yourself. in the amount you pay there you can pay it in another fancy place with better food and service

As always Mr Chow never disappoints with the very warm reception and great service. The food was amazing as usual.

Overall we enjoyed the experience, the staff were amazing and friendly, except one lady (thanks god she was not the one serving us). The chicken noodles is not recommended. Those orange chicken strips (forgot the name) were not bad, has no taste 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️. The other dishes we ordered were good. It’s worth to highlight that we were 6 people and paid ~579 GBP.

Had a fabulous meal and the Captain suggested the Chili Chicken which isn’t on the menu and was our favorite. Love Mr Chow. I live in LA and also go to the Beverly Hills location but had to go to the OG. 🇬🇧❤️

Honestly not worth it. Food is below average, one of our servers was extremely condescending and judgy! Which made us extremely uncomfortable. The atmosphere is not it as well. Would never come back again.

The worst takeaway experience ever! Do not order from this restaurant it’s a scam and they have been reposted to Deliveroo! Food was 30 mins late, portion size a joke and the prawns were like tadpoles! The staff put the phone down on us!

AVOID. ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS IN EVERY WAY. I BEG YOU, PLEASE DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING TO THIS AWFUL PLACE I am writing this review to hopefully save anyone else from having an awful experience. I never leave restaurant reviews. This place is a weird dystopian freak show of 90s decor, over-bearing Italian waiters, serving allegedly Chinese food, you couldn’t make it up. The WCs are tired and dirty, the chairs are so close together that the waiters bang into them every time they pass, the music sounds like they are playing an 80-90s music radio show. I arrived hungry after work, with family, so went with it. The food was inedible. Everything laden with sugary gloopy sauces. Tasted old and stale, and with the same limp texture as when it is microwaved to reheat. Served on old tatty oval stainless steel platters. The smell of the Mr Chow noodles was awful (like off meat). The glazed prawns were glazed with a gloopy over-floured sugary sauce, the nuts were maple pecans out of a packet, and the batter on the prawns was soggy, clearly reheated from yesterday. And so the story continues. Despite being hungry, i ate next to nothing due to the sweet taste, reheated textures, odd smell and then a fear of getting food poisoning. I drank water. The bill was eye-watering. We took it home as a take away and threw it in the bin. I had a very upset tummy all evening. Singularly the worst food I have had, for any price, anywhere in London and the world. Believe the other 1 and 2 star reviews, they are all true. They are not disgruntled ranting reviewers, they are trying to spare you from a similar experience.

Do not go here. Go literally anywhere else and save your money. Priced as a fine dining restaurant with zero fine dining qualities, bar the staff wearing tuxedoes.

It was difficult to get a waiter's attention. The meat was undercooked. Their vegetable fried rice is really just edamame fried rice. Not as good as I recall it.

Not what it used to be. Chicken satay and peanut sauce used to be better. It’s still as good in Manhattan. Crispy beef was as good as ever but gamblers ducks pancakes seemed like they were overheated in the microwave leaving them hard and brittle. Minor complaints but at these prices it’s not unreasonable to expect perfection.

I had a reservation at Mr. Chow, but when I arrived, my table wasn’t ready. After waiting for 25 minutes with no updates, I politely inquired about the status of my table. Unfortunately, the blonde lady at the reception responded with an attitude each time I asked if the table would be ready soon. The staff, overall, seemed unhappy and unwelcoming from the moment I walked through the door. Perhaps they should consider better training or hiring new staff to ensure customers don’t have to endure such poor behavior.

Sempre piacevole, ristorante non economico ma servizio super e cibo anche! Ha tutto un suo fascino, anche se alla fine il conto si fa sentire :)

The best service and food I’ve have in a while. We did not have a booking and it was not a problem they had a table and seated us very quickly. Raul one of the servers recommended glazed prawn with walnuts starter and it was very scrumptious. The main dishes he recommended orange spicy chicken and lamb, it was amazing still thinking about it. Raul was a delight and made our evening! If you are thinking to book you’ll have a wonderful service, atmosphere and great food!!

Mr. Chow was terrific as always. I’ve been coming here for years and have seen nothing but excellent Chinese food and outstanding service. Yes it’s expensive but so are many fine dining establishments. Go see for yourself instead of trusting the overly harsh Google reviews that are very out of place.

I absolutely love this place. Super atmosphere food and service. Try the Squab with lettuce and lobster vermicelli. So yummy.

The crispy beef is sensational, but the portion should be larger. The Bejing chicken was very weak. The Peiking Duck was incredible. The squab with gambay was the best I’ve had at any Mr. Chow. In the end we were stuffed so no room for dessert. Overall I would give the experience an eight and a half. I would definitely go back each time I’m in London.

The restaurant is good The food there is delicious, but you must know the good types. The service is good, but the restaurant is a little crowded and the tables are close together. It requires advance reservation.

The best dishes are the coconut shrimp, shrimp toast, and chicken satay skewers, but the rice with mushroom had a clear burning smell that spoiled the taste, and the chicken noodles had a foul smell and were very ordinary, and the chicken pieces dish with walnuts, I forgot the name, was considered acceptable. The size of the dishes is small and the prices are very, very high. Our account after we ordered the service was 41 pounds, it was 271 pounds. The shock was that the price of one skewer of chicken satay was 20 pounds 😂 and we were five people, so the dish came out to be 100 pounds.

Honestly speaking, very overrated. Frankly, only been 2 or 3 times and that too only because of invitations. Wouldn't be a venue of my choice. Much better Chinese cuisine options available close by! Overall, it was a disappointing experience

Great Chinese food. We had Sesame Prawn Toast, Mr. Chow's Noodles, Scallion Pancakes to start. They were all great. Then we had the crispy duck with pancakes which was my favorite and spectacular tasting. We had crispy beef, which my wife said was the best version of this dish we ever had. The service was friendly and impeccable. A good time was had by all. I want to go back.

The food and service are poor, honestly, small quantities, but delicious. Everything is delicious. They have 2 noodles, all of which are delicious, but one is plain, so it feels ridiculous, but the events have become lame.

The food is normal honestly. I’ve ordered all the famous dishes. Nothing woow or stands out for the price. The service was good and fast that atmosphere is OK. The music is so loud and the tables are so attached to each other so you can really hear the conversation of the table next to you. I don’t think I will return back to this place again.

Food was acceptable Staff was unprofessional and, They asked for a service fee, and when I refused to pay, their behavior changed. They said once again, “We will not accept your reservation in the restaurant.” They raised their voices and said, "You came to a famous restaurant, why don’t you pay?" I told them that the service fee is like a tip. I insisted on paying the amount that I felt was appropriate, rather than the amount they were trying to impose on me.

I’ve been coming here for years and shockingly it keeps getting better! There are many high end restaurants when the staff act like they’re doing you a favour, and Mr Chow is the opposite. The team headed superbly by Dino (and Raul) make you feel very welcome and appreciated. They make it special. Of course the food is insanely good and consistent, with a cool vibe/ ambience/ excellent music. You will not be disappointed (try the lobster vermicelli and Mr chow noodles)

I’ve never been in a restaurant with that noise: a hundred of waiters running from a side to the other; music too loud and people also speaking loud. The restaurant charges a minimum of 70 pounds per person only on food; I’ve already been in Mr Chow in LA, NY and some times in Miami and it had never been happened. The waiters aren’t gentle and are always in a hurry! Definetely a bad experience!

1st time trying this restaurant and it was great, overall experience was lovely. At first I was worried about the reviews being bad however I was very pleased with the quality of food and the service was superb thank you Antonio and the staff taking care of us 4. As we entered the restaurant, there were 2 hosts - none of them smiled, or welcomed us to the restaurant. The gent who seated us was friendly, however the service in general was not good, and the ambiance worse. The food was OK to good - not all the dishes were great. I was disappointed, as I've dined in other Mr Chows around the world, and the food and service was good. Personally, I would not go there again.

The over service to start with was very bad even the cutlery where not clean and when it was pointed out to replace it the waiter dont even apologies. But this shows the level of food hygiene. Lastly the price are inflated that open table listed prices.

vary bad hospitality, the woman on front desk did not welcome us, also they gave small table then we changed the table, regarding the food is good but very low salt and taste, regrading the price it is too expensive and should not be minimum charge per person.

The food proved to be costly, and the bill did not match the items we had ordered. Moreover, the service was lacking in quality.

Location : just beautiful. Interior very nice design and lighting etc. Seating: lousy, you cannot even stand up without literally shifting the whole table aside before you can move from the couch. The waiters are running from left to right just behind my partner who was sitting at isle side. As for service, it felt more like a Italian style,wha semi intimidating and pressuring you to TAKE something like a cocktail or champagne. Enthusiastic service ok, but this was too much. Even when you just lay down your cutlery as you finish your plate, within 2 mins its been taken away while my counterpart is still dining. Felt more like touristic places where time is money and must clean everything asap. Food: personally for the prices per course, it really mediocre to basic, I've had Michelin Star restaurants that tasted better and was even cheaper. Other decent restaurants can prep the same for less than half the price. So, yeah, too over-hyped place. Was an experience to be at a Mr Chow, but if this is the standard for this Mr Chow, never again to visit.

Just as disappointing as other reviews said. I was invited so I didn’t choose the place but I was hoping I’d be wrong. Highly overpriced, tastes weird, and looks so unappealing. The only good thing about the restaurant is the service (super quick and friendly) and the atmosphere/vibe of the place. Do not recommend.

The food tastes very bad. Prices are highly inflated. Each person specified has a minimum price of 280 dirhams. The restaurant is narrow and crowded, and the tables are stuck together. He does not deserve any publicity or praise. I was with my wife and 2 children, meaning 4 people. We paid 1,500 dirhams and asked for 3 main meals.

being a frequent guest in mr chow miami usa i was impressed by the same quality of food and level of speditivity . the ambience and noise level are how ever not worth visiting again. sadly you get treated like in a drive through restaurant - everything must go quick and there is no possibility for a chat with the waiters. somehow you get treated as a maniac to throw money at them.

Excellent first time at Mr. Chow! The food, the drinks, the service… all fantastic. The Spicy Beef and Chicken Joanna were to die for, and the seafood rice and pork dumplings were also delicious. We will definitely be back!

Do not go. If you are veiled, they will throw you in the back, next to the kitchen, even though, by God, without exaggeration, when we went to them, everyone in the restaurant was Gulf men and women, but no one was veiled except for the girls with us. You see, they praise the place in the back just to make you stand up and no one will notice that they have “veiled women” in the front of the restaurant 😂 That was the same day with us, we dropped our order and walked away. They're very racist. Despite the majority of customers being GCC Arab and Muslim, I observed that hijabi women were asked to move to tables at the back near the kitchen, so that no one could see them. It would be normal if all customers, regardless of attire, were seated in more prominent areas. Let's promote inclusivity and respect for all customers. That was a disappointment. I will never ever visit them again or recommend them to anyone.
