Mr Chow in City of London, Westminster

I do not recommend visiting the restaurant at all. The taste is less than normal, the place is narrow, the tables are next to each other, the prices are expensive, and the stairs are another story, as if you are in a spiral game that makes your head dizzy when you get up and down it.

No one informed us that they charge 90£ per person not as a minimum spend! We are 2 guests and payed around 300£ for fried dinner

Guido is not only the most friendly person I have ever met, but he is also the most attentive person you can ever come across. He always goes above and beyond his duty not only to make you feel at home, but also to make sure you have the utmost level of service which you deserve. I believe this is why he has been there for such a long time, well over a decade. In terms of the food, if you are looking for one of the most high-end fine dining experiences for Chinese cuisine, look no further. The range of options allows you to have any form of culinary experience with a real authentic Chinese taste. All dishes are full of flavours, exciting taste pallets experience, and just a real good time. No matter what you do: make sure you order the satay chicken. They are one of a kind in the world!! Overall: a must try if you’re passing by London!

La comida era buena, PERO EL SERVICIO ERA REALMENTE MALO .. estábamos cenando en el restaurante después del plato principal pedimos el postre, así que uno de los camareros, un anciano grande con gafas con uniforme blanco vino a nosotros y nos habló sobre el postre sin mostrar el menú y nos pidió que nos moviéramos escaleras abajo para tener el postre como complemento, alguien más necesita la mesa 😳 ! ! ! ! o si vamos a poner en la misma mesa que ya estábamos tenemos que pagar por el postre ... (QUE ERA EEALLY GROSERO E INACEPTABLE PETICIÓN ) nos negamos a mover, por supuesto, es nuestra mesa y tenemos derecho a permanecer y disfrutar durante dos horas, pero ni siquiera completamos una hora en el restaurante debido a la grosería camarero ... . NO PEDIMOS LA FACTURA QUE VINO DIRECTAMENTE CON LA FACTURA PARA QUE PAGÁRAMOS... Y LA FACTURA SIN DETALLES... V V bad experience in Mr Chow restaurant February 2025 The food was good BUT THE SERVICE WAS REALLY BAD .. we were having dinner in the restaurant after the main course we asked for the dessert SO one of the waiters a big old man with glasses wearing a white uniform came to us AND TOLD US ABOUT THE DESSRT WITHOUT SHOWING THE MENU And ask uk us to move down stairs to have the dessert as complementary COZ SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS THE TABLE 😳 !!!! or if we are going to set on the same table that we were already on we have to pay for the dessert … ( WHICH WAS EEALLY RUDE AND UNACCEPTABLE REQUEST ) we refused to move of course its our table and we have the right to stay and enjoy for two hours But we didn't even complete an hour in the restaurant because of the waiter rudeness ….WE DIDN’t ASK FOR THE BILL HE CAME DIRECTLY WITH THE BILL FOR US TO PAY .. and the BILL WITH NO DETAILS .. Food ( price ) drinks (price ) dessert ( price ) then the total AND SERVICE OF COURSE , My son had a fight with him about the bill coz we didn't ask for it his answer was you have finished your dessert so i got you the bill .. what if we wanted to order coffee or any other dessert ?!?! He ignored my sons reply and went away in a rude careless behaviour …. It was the weirdest and worse experience as a fine dine we have ever had and will never go back again there i rally don't recommend it as a fine dine … long comment but just wanted to share it with everyone … honestly we went to Mr Chow to enjoy the night but it was the opposite we went out of the restaurant in a really bad mood and full if anger because if that waiters behaviour 😡😡 will never recommend this restaurant to any one … bad , dis respect the customer & terrible experience 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

La comida era buena, pero uno de los empleados fue grosero vino y nos pidió que tuviéramos desierto abajo porque quería la mesa para otra persona, aunque hicimos la reserva en línea. le dijimos que no podemos bajar porque uno de nosotros tiene una operación de rodilla y luego trajo la cuenta sin preguntar. Estábamos comiendo desierto y él solo trajo la factura que le dijimos que no le pedimos la factura. Dijo que me disculpo, le dijimos que no debería hacer esto a los clientes. First visit to the restaurant. The restaurant is narrow, the seating areas are not comfortable, the food is only average for the experience, and the prices are high for the quality.

This was, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a fine dining restaurant. It was my first visit, and it will certainly be my last. Our reservation was at 10:00 PM, so we arrived 5–10 minutes early. Upon arrival, we found a crowd outside the restaurant and near the receptionist’s area. We provided the reservation name and waited patiently until 10:12 PM, but we were not seated. After waiting, a male staff member approached us and said we needed to go upstairs to get our table. We explained that we preferred to be seated downstairs because the stairs were difficult to use, and my sister can’t use them. We asked if there was an elevator, and he said no. When we explained that we could not go upstairs, instead of accommodating us or apologizing, he opened the front door and said, “You can leave then!” We were shocked by his behavior. Not only did he fail to show empathy or understanding, but he also disrespected us, calling us rude and insisting, “Please leave!” Left with no other choice, we exited the restaurant. It was raining and freezing cold, and we had to wait outside for our driver to arrive. We had not anticipated being treated so poorly, especially at one of the most highly regarded fine dining establishments. After we left, the same staff member came outside and tried to talk to us. Given how disrespectful he had already been, we refused to engage with him. In response, he once again called us rude. Is this how Mr. Chow normally treats their guests? Showing complete disrespect, and insulting guests instead of apologizing? This experience was not only disappointing but entirely unacceptable.

I ordered the Hot and Sour Chicken Soup from this restuarant , and it was very disappointing. The vinegar taste was far too pronounced, overpowering the entire dish and making it unpleasant to eat. It lacked the balance of flavors that a good hot and sour soup should have. I was expecting much better quality. I hope they can work on improving this recipe

Mr Chow dovrebbe essere un ristorante cinese, ma non certo dal menu, che definirei molto interessante ma internazionale con qualche piatto orientale! Il cibo è di ottima qualità, ma credo che il vero plus del locale sia l’atmosfera internazionale che si respira ed il servizio, con personale attento e di gran classe. I prezzi sono decisamente alti ed in alcuni casi ingiustificabili, ma se hanno il locale sempre pieno perché abbassarli ? Una bella serata in famiglia così coccolati non ha prezzo!

What a very, very special evening we had last night at Mr Chow. The food was delicious, impeccable, faultless; the wines delicious. The service however must really take pride of place. I had forgotten what it's like to be served so wonderfully professionally - and my party were in full agreement. Sadly, it is very rare these days to have restaurant service from people who take pride in their work and ensuring that guests have a good time. Yes, Mr Chow is expensive, but like the ad says - it's worth it.

The restaurant's prices are not simple, yet the employees get angry when you don't pay for the service, which is optional and not mandatory. When I asked the employee to remove the service charge from the bill, he told me that he will not give you a table again! Considering himself the owner of the restaurant or that I am present as his guest! I pay for my food in the restaurant and he has no favor over me. When I asked the employee at the reception to give me his name, she did not give it to me. My question is, does the restaurant belong to the employees and is the customer obligated to pay for the service, which is optional for the customer and not mandatory! Or am I forced to pay them this fee or will the treatment be different? They are really bad and are insulting the branch in London.

I was expecting better service since it is a fancy dine in restaurant I was there with my friends the way they spoke to us while taking the order was so rude. the manger was trying force us to pay £51 service charge and when we refused he raised his voice on us and kept speaking rudely + he wanted to charge us on the to-go boxes!!! I don’t recommend going to this restaurant at all unless you want to humiliate yourself. in the amount you pay there you can pay it in another fancy place with better food and service

As always Mr Chow never disappoints with the very warm reception and great service. The food was amazing as usual.

Overall we enjoyed the experience, the staff were amazing and friendly, except one lady (thanks god she was not the one serving us). The chicken noodles is not recommended. Those orange chicken strips (forgot the name) were not bad, has no taste 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️. The other dishes we ordered were good. It’s worth to highlight that we were 6 people and paid ~579 GBP.

Way over-priced for unspectacular food, very disappointing

Honestly not worth it. Food is below average, one of our servers was extremely condescending and judgy! Which made us extremely uncomfortable. The atmosphere is not it as well. Would never come back again.

AVOID. ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS IN EVERY WAY. I BEG YOU, PLEASE DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING TO THIS AWFUL PLACE I am writing this review to hopefully save anyone else from having an awful experience. I never leave restaurant reviews. This place is a weird dystopian freak show of 90s decor, over-bearing Italian waiters, serving allegedly Chinese food, you couldn’t make it up. The WCs are tired and dirty, the chairs are so close together that the waiters bang into them every time they pass, the music sounds like they are playing an 80-90s music radio show. I arrived hungry after work, with family, so went with it. The food was inedible. Everything laden with sugary gloopy sauces. Tasted old and stale, and with the same limp texture as when it is microwaved to reheat. Served on old tatty oval stainless steel platters. The smell of the Mr Chow noodles was awful (like off meat). The glazed prawns were glazed with a gloopy over-floured sugary sauce, the nuts were maple pecans out of a packet, and the batter on the prawns was soggy, clearly reheated from yesterday. And so the story continues. Despite being hungry, i ate next to nothing due to the sweet taste, reheated textures, odd smell and then a fear of getting food poisoning. I drank water. The bill was eye-watering. We took it home as a take away and threw it in the bin. I had a very upset tummy all evening. Singularly the worst food I have had, for any price, anywhere in London and the world. Believe the other 1 and 2 star reviews, they are all true. They are not disgruntled ranting reviewers, they are trying to spare you from a similar experience.

Not what it used to be. Chicken satay and peanut sauce used to be better. It’s still as good in Manhattan. Crispy beef was as good as ever but gamblers ducks pancakes seemed like they were overheated in the microwave leaving them hard and brittle. Minor complaints but at these prices it’s not unreasonable to expect perfection.

I had a reservation at Mr. Chow, but when I arrived, my table wasn’t ready. After waiting for 25 minutes with no updates, I politely inquired about the status of my table. Unfortunately, the blonde lady at the reception responded with an attitude each time I asked if the table would be ready soon. The staff, overall, seemed unhappy and unwelcoming from the moment I walked through the door. Perhaps they should consider better training or hiring new staff to ensure customers don’t have to endure such poor behavior.

The best service and food I’ve have in a while. We did not have a booking and it was not a problem they had a table and seated us very quickly. Raul one of the servers recommended glazed prawn with walnuts starter and it was very scrumptious. The main dishes he recommended orange spicy chicken and lamb, it was amazing still thinking about it. Raul was a delight and made our evening! If you are thinking to book you’ll have a wonderful service, atmosphere and great food!!

Mr. Chow was terrific as always. I’ve been coming here for years and have seen nothing but excellent Chinese food and outstanding service. Yes it’s expensive but so are many fine dining establishments. Go see for yourself instead of trusting the overly harsh Google reviews that are very out of place.
