Rainbow 2000 in Sefton

Always visit Rainbow when in Southport. Good food, good potions and fair price. Probably do have off days but we've never experienced it. Remember it's a take away not a restaurant.

Food on this occasion was barely warm and didn't seem freshly made. I arrived on time to pick up the order and only had a short walk home. Not good considering the price and the fact that dishes consisted of mainly rice. Wouldn't recommend this place.

The fish was inedible the chips had obvious been reheated from lunch time . Brown soft and full of grease.will not be going back

staff are really nice and i always get the salt and pepper chicken and egg fried rice and it never lets me down. i will always love you rainbow 2000 you are so nice and i love your food i have no idea why people write negative reviews.

The half crispy duck had all the meat burnt away, not enough for 1 person to eat The fried rice was a brown mush. The only food edible was the sweet and sour king prawns which was tasty I would have taken it back if I wasn't so exhausted Very disappointing.

Do not let the low reviews fool you. This place has actual good food and you must try salt and pepper chicken. (I ate it all before I could get a good photo. Sorry)

For months will only accept cash……mnmmmn ???? Food is always good and hygiene seems good but puzzling why they won’t work with the banks.

We go for Chinese takeaway every few weeks and always get excellent food at a great price..the staff are helpful and friendly. They only take cash but thats good for the economy too! All round a great little takeaway.

We ordered over the phone, the guy was very friendly. The food was piping hot and fresh even when we got home with it. Everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend to people looking for great quality food for a good price.

Haven't been to this takeaway for years usually. go to the Locus, but we were near it tonight, it was horrible, tough ribs, and dry fried rice

Best chinese/chippy in the area. Food fantastic and staff are lovely. I know people who travel from afar to go here. Highly recommended

First try for this Chinese takeaway and I'm afraid that it wasn't that good. Boiled rice overcooked and veg in veg curry hardly cooked. It is very cheap though!

Love this takeaway. Always had good food from here. The fish and chips are lovely, but the chinese food is always good too.

We love this place, excellent staff and food. Everyone is friendly and the menu is varied with lots of lovely dishes. We go here regularly and my favourite is wandering dragon and the lemon chicken

As a resident in birkdale, I have been a customer of Rainbow since it very first opened 19 years ago. I have lived away the past 4 years and have never been able to find Chinese food to this taste! Each dish is delicious, both chippy and Chinese, and any special requests are never an issue. The staff are so friendly and never fail to make us happy. Couldn't recommend this take away enough!

We have been to the rainbow a few times before and always thought it was lovely! Although last nights visit was different. The portion sizes were minimal and our salt and pepper chicken was mostly batter. The bbq sauce was also very watery.

Always fantastic fesh chips and fish absolutely love the salt and pepper chips great after a hard week working to have this great scran

This is by far my family’s favourite takeaway. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They have a huge variety including lots of vegan options. They cater for allergies and intolerances and the food is super tasty. If you’re lucky they even give out fortune cookies sometimes free with your meal

My wife and myself , stopped at Tesco Express in Southport ,as we are hungry .

Amazing staff with friendly customer service. Ordered sweet an sour chicken wit fried rice and they were gorgeous!! Only live down the road so just ring up and place ur order then they will sort it out. Prices are not too expensive and food is great. Always get the salt and pepper chips with sweet and sour chicken.Best Chinese takeway in Southport!! I strongly recom this takeway to me mate and family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have been coming here some time now,as food is always good,but not this time to be honest it was awful, sweet and sour pork was like rubber and the sauce was like water..Prawn and pineapple weren't any better,prawns had A funny taste and were also overcooked and like rubber.very disappointed.

By far the best takeaway in Southport.

i had to pay £9.00 just to pick up my food let alone getting home. there was'nt a single thing apart from the rice which was right. i ordered honey and sweet chilli shredded chicken with boiled rice my friend ordered salt and crispy shredded beef in ok sauce with boiled rice. what we received was salt and pepper chicken in soy sauce with boiled rice and a small pot of sweet and sour sauce and plain crispy beef with no sauce onions and rice neither of us have ate it and we just had to pay about £30! a long with this the staff were rude and shouting in the shop even the chefs came out to have a go. we had a taxi waiting outside and they proceeded to bring us out questionable items we had never asked for whilst the meter was still running. we called back and there is literally no remorse

Fish and chips, best ever! And Chinese food very good too, would recommend this to anyone who fancys a take a way.

Recently moved house back to Birkdale & thought we'd try the only Chinese takeaway in Birkdale village, I now wish we hadn't !

This used to be the only chinese/chippy we ever used for quite a while but not any longer.Normally ordered by phone and went to collect but often order not ready and latterly not always correct but you don't know that till you get home.The last fish and chips we had, there was more batter than fish it was more like a very small child's portion and more mush than fish. Pity because it used to be the best but won't be returning any time soon.

As part of a large food order I will always give a little leeway on delivery & quality. The overall price of my "large" chips & sausage was standard. Delivery time was ok with the size of the order, however the portion size was poor, the smell of the chips was worse & the taste was worse than that. The chips appeared to be "warm-ups" sunken in the middle & chewy. The quality of the potato used tasted old & a bit slimy. Overall it was poor & I threw away the majority of my chips. I don't think I'll be getting any more.

Always loved their fish and chips and their Chinese menu has come on leaps and bounds. Will continue to eat from their when in southport

Eat here all he time with my partner, food is always fresh and piping hot! Cheap and cheerful. I recommend the satay skewers there delicious 😋

It may well be! They do liver and chips! My fried rice was fresh and clean. Meal was quick to arrive after order and served with a smile.

1st visit to rainbow 2000 service was prompt and staff friendly, ordered a sweet and sour with extra chips,meal was nice and tasty, only problem was by the time we got home it wasn't super hot,but overall nice

Great variety of dishes. Reasonably priced....what is really fantastic value are the special dinners that include appetisers and a choice of 1 of 8 meals for less than £8 my husband and I share one of these as it is enough for us. Great service

Very good food and a good atmosphere very friendly people (Yu Teng) if you ever come into this chippy I suggest you ask for Yu Teng as he is always smiling and serving good food.

Always have the tofu and green pepper black Bean sauce and the wife has the king prawn in yellow bean sauce which are both very tasty. Staff very friendly and work hard to please their clientele.

Visited recently and ordered the sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was overcooked and rubbery whilst the sauce was like battery acid, much better take-aways in Birkdale.

After 50 minutes of waiting and watching customers walking in and being served before me the staff apologised for my wait. I was quite put out so I asked for complimentary prawn crackers. Not something expensive, but never the less too much as a good will gesture for them to honour. I do hope birkdale gets a good takeaway soon, as this is far from it.

I really don't understand why this place is getting decent reviews as over the past year the foods really deteriorated in my opinion. If you just want chips it's ok although the portion sizes are small. The Chinese meals are just not nice. I recently ordered special fried rice and what I got was a tub, similar size to what you get your boiled/fried rice in that accompanies a main meal. Filled with fried rice with 6 small bite size pieces of meat lay flat over the top, 3 tiny prawns, 2 tiny bite sized pieces of char Sui and a disgusting tasting pink sauce poured over the top? All for £6.00. Disappointing!

The visit was one of laziness, I was in hurry and the service was wonderfully fast. I ordered beef Chow Mein, Chips and my fav prawn crackers. All was served quick, hot and with a smile. Nothing too special about the food, the beef was tender the sauce flavoursome and the prawn crackers tasted fresh!Chips despite a smaller than usual serving, were pipping hot and delicious.

Very good food and good staff.clean and quick with preparation good prices and nice pleasant staff who understand what your saying.Very good quality been going 6 years now. No msg problems, sometimes to much salt but ask without if possible .Very good overall

We frequently visit this Takeaway for both English and Chinese dishes and after being disappointed by another in the area the day before thought we'd treat ourselves! Everything delicious as usual lovely crispy fish and golden chips couldn't have been nicer and very reasonably priced, fresh and piping hot! Look no further - outstanding all round competitors should take note

Use this chippy fairly often and the meals are consistently good,The fried chillie beef is better than most locally,recommend the special foo yung and Duck n pancakes.The sausage dinner is with peas and gravy, but sausage dinner is,,,sausage and chips doesn't have any extras with it.(must be a southern thing.)They don't sell jellied eels or pie and mash either.A large sign hangs next to the extensive menu stating they will cater to any special dietary requirements and to the right of the counter is a chart documenting contents ofthe dishes they sell.

Just moved to the area. My 13 year daughter & her friend went to this takeaway for our tea. They ordered a 'Sausage dinner' not realising, because they said it did not state on the menu, that it came with mushy peas & gravy on top. They were refused by the female server when they asked for it to be changed so came home with a meal none of us would eat because we don't like gravy or mushy peas; it went straight in the bin. Think if they were adults they would have got a different response. Anyway, it was off to another local takeaway to get a meal we could eat. Obviously, with this takeaway the customers needs are irrelevant, particularly if they are children that can be taken advantage of. We will not use this takeaway again.

Always have friendly service here and food is lovely and tasty. King Prawn in Yellow Bean Sauce is my favourite. So lucky to have this place nearby.

One of the best in southport, the food is lovely and the menu is extensive, if you don't see what you are after just ask, they can make it how you want it and the staff are very friendly. Try it you won't be disappointed.

I do like the sausage and chips from here. Tried a few different Chinese dishes from here recently and not so impressed. Salt and pepper ribs- coating pale and greasy, ribs very fatty. Not much flavour. Been like this last 2 times so not trying again.Barbecue ribs- dry , no sauce which is how I like them. Prawn toast- topping spread very thinly over bread.Young chow fried rice- consisted of fried rice and very few tiny pieces of meat and not much else.Tried a couple of meals with meat in and the texture of the beef made me gag. I can't describe it apart from gelatinous. Maybe it was fatty meats steamed for a long time to make tender.

This takeaway has had something of a revival recently with a distinct improvement in the quality of food and service

Have used it a couple of times and found the staff to be friendly and the service quick. Have just used it as a chippy (they do really nice potato fritters!), but will try the Chinese menu next time

I regularly but take away sausage and chips here. Very pleased with them especially the chips. Staff are very friendly and service is efficient . Best chippy in the area, I would recommend it .

My usual takeaway was closed for refurbishment - so we decide to go to the Rainbow - never again. Yung chow fried rice acceptable - Salt and pepper squid & chicken wings had so much MSG and salt in that we took one bite and threw the rest in the bin (this is a major occurrence for us as my husband and son are human dustbins and will eat anything). Special curry was lumpy and gelatinous - again with too much salt. King Prawn chow mein - over cooked noodles that tasted slimy and again too much salt.So if you enjoy over processed salty food and are happy to get up a couple of times in the night to get a glass of water then this would be the perfect take away. However, personally I will never eat here again.

After moving close to this takeaway, we decided to use Rainbow 2000 rather than travelling to our old Chinese.Absolutely lovely. Great value for money.The prawn toast was delicious!!!!We've been back several times & it's yet to disappoint us.

I am told that this has been taken over recently? This used to be a decent place to get a quick carry out but - the chicken and sweetcorn soup was so thick it was like glue and the texture was revolting. I looked at the ribs and ........... YUK. I should have got in the car and gone back to complain but by the time we realised how bad my meal was we had had a glass of wine so didn't want to drive, but we will not return.

Popped in for Fish and Chips last Night... all very goodincluding the Mushy Peas (so she said)we even bought some seaweed :-)We will be Back
