At £9.10 prawn/smoked salmon starter one of the worst I’ve had. . Poor quality prawns, think they’d forgotten the smoked salmon and mainly salad. Son had fish and chips. Awful dark coloured greasy chips and poor quality fish. Salmon main course at £21.95 was ok except for the hollandaise , thick consistency. No fish pie on either. Would have complained but as it was my husband’s birthday didn’t want to make a fuss! Very disappointing meal after previous visit.

We’ve come here quite often but this time spoiled the mood, Great atmosphere as always, only problem was some of the food was laced with too much salt, someone needs to be having a word with the chef !!. rather spoiled the evening

Gorgeous home cooked food, nice atmosphere as they haven’t been greedy and booked it so full that you can’t breathe. Father’s Day / Birthday meal went down a treat! Lovely

Disappointing experience today. Have been many times and always been good. We ordered lasagne which was only ok, nothing great, but the chips were awful. Dark brown, greasy and not even chips, just bits of potato. A complaint was made to 2 members of staff who weren't bothered in the slightest. No apology, no offer of an exchange, no interest in putting it right. At £15.95 for each meal, I expected better.

Second visit and both times the food has really been excellent, above gastro pub standard. First visit I tried the surf and turf, the steak was done just as requested and melted in the mouth, really good steak. Second visit and tried the fish and chips, the haddock , very tasty and the batter crispy, done just right. Dessert was a cheesecake, home made and delicious with cream. Service was superb both times. The meals looked great on the plate. Well presented and tasted as good. The style is a higher level than just pub grub with simple tables, it is all nicely set out, tables where you feel you can have a nice cosy meal. So to the only negative. At a table near by, a guest, who appeared to be a friend or relative of one of the staff, a chef I think, decided to have a loud video call at their table for about 10 to 15 minutes, could hear every word as did half the place, which wasn’t in keeping with the restaurant we think they are selling it as. The call was disturbed by their food arriving, that seemed the only thing that stopped it, the staff didn’t say anything. Thank heaven for the food and at last back to normal and the ambiance returned. It won’t put us off but that wasn’t in keeping with what the restaurant is sold as. Great food, great service, definite for another visit, hence the 5 stars.

The word homemade is used time and time again and it is obvious sometimes that it isn’t. However, at The Railway everything is definitely homemade. We all had different dishes and each and every one was wonderful. We had: salmon fillet, chicken Kiev, Railway Burger, Southern Fried Chicken Burger and Lamb Suet pudding (which was melt in the mouth gorgeous). A lovely atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff. This was our first visit but definitely won’t be our last. I can highly recommend this place if you want fantastic quality home cooked meals.

Very friendly atmosphere and excellent staff, who even asked whether anyone had any allergies! Nothing was too much for the two ladies who served us. Quite an extensive menu, with smaller plates for those with a smaller appetite. The food was excellent, warm and very well presented. We would recommend this to our friends. A choice of three hand pulled beer, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord and Dizzy blond. I don’t remember the third. I chose the Dizzy blonde and it was ok.

It was a wet, miserable Saturday afternoon when we visited to have dinner with family. It had been recommended so our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. The large and varied menu offered enough choice to suit a wide range of palates. The portions too were very generous. You won't leave here hungry! 'Homemade' is a phrase that features a lot in this menu and here it reflects in the well cooked tasty fare that appears on the plate. A companion had the Yorkshire pudding starter, the size of a plate, which came with lashings of gravy. It looked so good I ordered a small one as a side for my own main meal. I had potato skins as a starter topped with bacon and cheese. More like a full small baked potato that skins. But good none the less. I was a little wary but tried the deep fried battered black pudding one of our party ordered and surprising this was very good. Our other two companions had been here before and sensibly saved themselves for the main courses. Two of us had Suet lamb pudding. A large portions packed with tasty chunks of lamb. You had the choice of chips or mash with these. I chose the chips (homemade and scrumptious). We asked for extra gravy and it came in little jugs. The whole was served with a range of vegetables that were well cooked and presented. Two of our other companions had the strips of beef in a peppercorn sauce. The meat was declared to be soft and tasty. The sauce has a little more to it that the average peppercorn sauce that comes as a side with a steak which was a positive addition to this dish. You get a choice of carbs too one chose rice the other half and half (Rice and Chips) The other party member had a Yorkshire Pudding wrap. There's a choice of roast meats to wrap the pudding around our diner chose beef. Again these come with a choice of sides. They both looked and were pronounced very good. Three of us went for a crème Brule for dessert, one for ice cream and the other stated they were too full. the ice-cream was pretty average and I think the Crème Brule although tasty would have been better served in a smaller deeper dish. The only issue I would have is the £2 charge for a small bread roll and butter. We didn't have any but if it stands up to the quality of the rest of the food served, who knows maybe they are value for money. I would definitely recommend for a wholesome, unpretentious family meal out.

Was very disappointed that the railway wouldn't take my booking for my husbands birthday 😒 we had 9 adults and 2 children wanting to celebrate his birthday and they said they would not take a booking for more than 6 inclusive of children? Not even 2 tables of 5 and a high chair??? I asked if this was Company policy and he advised that " it wasn't fair on the kitchen staff as there was 2 menus on a Sunday??? As a ex licensee I would have been very happy with a booking for well over £100 especially after Covid. Well we have got somewhere else to celebrate that will accommodate all my family together .

Very disappointed after been here on three previous occasions. My partners food the nachos were all burnt round the edges they replaced it no problem. I had the surf and turf tried to cut the steak with a normal knife as the waiter never bothered to introduce a steak knife the chips were not good the gardens peas were microwaved.it’s a Shame because we liked it here maybe they have changed the chef.but we will not be back for food

What a fantastic place! Went with family for lunch. No table booked but they squeezed us in. It was busy and this was a Monday! All the mains homemade. My girlfriend had what she said was the best sea food pie in her life. I had the steak pie with homemade chips. They do giant Yorkshire puddings as big as a plate! I honestly could have eaten everything in the menu. Friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommended.

There were 27 of us in our party , so we had pre-booked for lunch . The service was excellent ----- we were all served within minutes of each other .The range of meals we had chosen was everything from the corned beef hash pie ( very popular ) to cod and chips and chickpea curry . Everyone cleared their plate . We loved it so much that we are now planning to come here for our Christmas meal . Excellent food , value for money , excellent staff . Highly recommended .

Cafe food at restaurant prices. Even charged my dad for 2 eggs after paying £27 for a the thinnest rump steak I've ever seen. Never again.

Called in for some lunch and was so disappointed. The food was just awful, so unappealing to the eye as well. It was like slop on a plate, no seasoning and everything seems to be covered in cooking oil. I hardly ate anything and my stomach was so bloated due to the amount of oil that was on the food. Drinks were good and the place is spotlessly clean but unfortunately the food is disgusting.

Booked ahead as there were nine of us eating. We got there 10 minutes early, but our table was ready and it wasn’t a problem. The food was delicious, with generous portions and pretty good value for money, taking into account the recent all round price rises. Special mention to Leanne who looked after us while we were there - she made us feel welcome and was just how you’d want a waitress to be.

Called with my wife just in time for”early bird” meal just before 5.00 Welcomed to lovely table even though we hadn’t booked and there were quite a few reserved tables some for larger parties. We had our mains and desserts from the board which were just perfect Service was first class This is our “local” from Birkenshaw and as I said to my wife “ why do we bother going elsewhere when dining out? This inn is the benchmark to measure others against and how so many fail to meet this standard

Went on Saturday afternoon, a party of four for a late lunch. From entering to leaving, we were made welcome from their excellent staff. The food choices are plentiful, with excellent array of food. The portions are large, and very tasty. Excellent service throughout. This is our third visit, and we will certainly go back. Well done to everybody at the Railway.

Honestly cannot fault this place. I’ve been quite a considerable amount of times too!! The food is always top quality, so delicious and many options to chose from with a range of vegetarian and vegan options. The service is also always outstanding, they’re such a good team. Timing is perfect too; not too long and not too quick.

We visit regular for food and drinks. We don't live too close, so it's a drive to get there. But it is well worth it. The food is amazing. I have the Madras and the steak Pie quite a lot. The wife has the blackened Cajun chicken. Our daughter loves the home made burgers. It had been quite a few years since we last ate at The Railway but we were not disappointed. We hadn’t booked but a table was available. From start to finish all the staff were friendly and helpful. We sat in a cosy corner near the fire and ordered 2 Sunday lunches, I had chicken and my husband beef. We both said it was the best Sunday lunch we’d had. Very tasty, good portions, just excellent. The Yorkshire puddings were to die for. It was busy but there was plenty of room and space. We will definitely return.

We visited with a group of eighteen friends. We all placed different food orders from their extensive menu. The food was served to us very hot all at the same time. We enjoyed black pudding in batter and chicken tikka for our starters, followed by minced beef pies with chips and veg. The service was very good.

We have met friends here for a meal on a number of occasions and it has been lovely. However last night we had a different experience and whilst it was busy, this was similar to previous visits. We had reserved a table for 5 a number of weeks ago and when we arrived we given a table set out for 7 which consisted of an oblong table with a round one pushed up to it which felt awkward for our group. The waiter took our drinks order and 4 of the 5 drinks arrived quickly. The other one, a cup of tea, seemed to have been forgotten. We asked about it and it arrived 15mins later. The food came as ordered. My husband chose the giant yorkshire pudding for a starter and he loved it. He then had meat and potato pie with a thick shortcrust pastry lid for his main. The filling consisted of mainly undercooked and underseasoned potato. The pastry was definitely thick but rather unpleasant and again underseasoned. I chose the chicken cordon bleu off the specials board which was quite nice, but the dijon mustard sauce which accompanied it was virtually tasteless. For dessert we both ordered the bakewell tart with custard. The custard had the consistency of water and was overly sweet, quite the oddest custard I've ever had. I struggled on with it but my husband sent his back and got ice cream instead. No explanation was given about why the custard was so thin. As we'd had such lovely food on previous visits it left us wondering why it was so disappointing this time round.

Visited The Railway today for lunch. My partner had stew and dumplings followed by bread and butter pudding. I had the small chicken roast dinner with creme brulee to follow. We both enjoyed the meal and will definitely go there again. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

I have just visited this establishment for lunch (pre-booked) with 7 colleagues, it is a venue we as a company use regularly for staff meals and on occasion overseas visitors.Prior to today I can only speak highly of both the staff and the food. However my experience today would make me think about ever returning.I was delivered a lasagna consisting of two sheets of pasta and some warm tasteless, almost meatless sauce.First interaction with what I later found was the floor manager was pointless. I commented that the portion size was poor. He told me he would talk to someone.After 10 minutes nothing happened.When subsequently asked by a waitress if all was ok I said no, it was hideous. Her response was to laugh. When I told her I wasn't joking she left to speak to the kitchen.Some 10 minutes later the same waitress asked if we were finished and if all was ok. I responded that it wasn't and I was still waiting feedback. I was told she was busy but would now talk to the chef.Final interaction with the floor manager. He asked me if there was a problem. I repeated what I said, we had a discussion about the menu and that the previous 6 servings of the product were ok as no one had complained. I was then told the waitress was upset and in tears because I had sworn at her. This, as my colleagues reaffirmed was totally untrue. This upset me immensely, my only complaint was that the food was poor and the portion size not good.On leaving I tried to have a discussion with who I thought was the manager (my mistake) to try resolve the problem as we regularly use this pub.However I was told the manager was the gentleman i had spoken to twice before who clearly was not interested in solving the problem and believed I had sworn at the waitress.I am very disappointed with this entire experience, the answer to a customer concern is not to ignore it (other than not charge for the dreadful meal) and believe some made up nonsense about a regular repeat customer.

Our first visit. Warmly welcomed and quickly seated. Shared a starter of Nachos. Deliciously different. My wife had the swordfish mains. Cooked to perfection. I had the pigs cheek suet pudding. Wow!! I couldn't find room for a pud but my wife had the crème brulee. Light and very tasty. All in all our first journey to The Railway was First Class. Big thanks to the chefs and the front of house lads. Highly recommended.

My friend booked the Railway for a lunch outing. I thought we may need to have the Christmas menu but no so we picked from the Sunday lunch menu. A great selection to choose from and it all tasted great. Service was good as the staff were very busy. Good job she booked .

This pub is always busy, with lots of people eating.Three of us dined there on Sunday teatime, and there is a great choice of food for everyone. I had the Marie Rose Salad which had lots of prawns on. The other guests had the Sunday dinner, and Meat and Potato pie. After a starter of large Yorkshire Pudding we had to force ourselves to have a pudding. I did feel that the Ginger Sponge was a little bit doughy but it still tasted very nice.Two of us had alcoholic drinks, the other just soft drinks our meal came to just over £76.

Great selection of vegan options. We had the dirty vegan burger which was excellent. The staff were very attentive and efficient. We would definitely call again. Thanks.

I prebooked for a party of 20 for my sons 21st Birthday and from walking through the door with my cake and decorations the staff couldnt of been more helpfull. Luke was head of house and his eye for detail was impeckable. Making sure the room was perfect, asking everyone who arrived what would they like to drink as they sat down straightway, always asking if everything was ok. 20 Orders were taken perfectly and arrived perfectly, such delious food. Then came unexpected chamagne from a guest so perfect & clean chamgane glasses were given to the adults only. Then came the cake with candles lit and brought out to our son. i would recommend the Rail Way to all, you'll love it. Thanks again Luke for our evening stress free and pleasureable 5* service

Having been previously on numerous occasions and always found it to be very good for a pub lunch, I was surprised and disappointed on my last visit.

I eat here nearly every week when working in Bradford since November 2018. Good selection of meals and very reasonable prices. . Personally my favourites are the Seafood pie and Salmon fillet with white prawn sauce. Although other meals are equally as good. Portions are always good and served piping hot. Cheerful staff too.

Our club of 18 visitors enjoyed evening meals. Due to the size of our group the seating was crammed in. We all made our choices from their Al-a- carte-menu. I had the seafood pie which was excellent, The service was good and the food reasonably priced.

We would say that we are regulars at this restaurant but on our last two visits we had the gammon which we have enjoyed in past but the food on these accessions did not make these meals appetising. The gammon was tough and chewy,the chips were over cooked and the onion rings were greasy.

Really enjoyed it, would defiantly recommend and actually did the day after we went. Gorgeous chips very yummy and just feel overall you get great food and value.

First visit for food, midweek grill night, and visit was really good. Four of us decided to each try the mixed grill, 2 x chuffing ale and 2 x cokes and very full and happy customers. Food was all cooked well and tasty. I have to mention the service which was friendly and welcoming, the waitress who served us was lovey, does make a big difference when service is good. No room for desert but will come again and try a smaller dish so we can try. A good visit for us.

I had a large Yorkshire pudding with chicken breast and sides of mashed potatoes and vegetables and my wife had small portion of lamb suet pudding. We shared a treacle sponge for dessert. The food and service was very good. The only thing I did not like was the chipolata in my pudding which was a surprise as I don't eat pork.

Booked day before good job too it was very busy.Had a drink before ordering pint of Timmy Taylor's which was in good form my wife a glass of very nice Chardonnay.We ordered our lunch I spotted Black Pudding in batter as a starter my wife had soup .we both had the Roast.It was served within 10 mins starters and mains were delicious served by a very attentive waiter.Watching other members of staff they were all kept busy and knew exactly what they were doing.Overall a very pleasant experience showing good management will certainly call again and recommend a visit.Well done to all staff.

Lovely food BUT a large glass of red wine went over me at the start of the night. Not one person from management came to speak to me The waiter was so sorry but that’s it! My clothes covered in red wine and I was soaked. So...... lovely food but management happy to hope you won’t speak about it

Good, no-frills food. Roast dinner was excellent - nice meat. Desserts also good. Home-made bread and butter pudding was very good. Outstanding value for money.

It’s best to book at The Railway, especially on a weekend. We dined there on Saturday evening and the place was full. They usually have two or three guest ales on the go. We ordered the soup starter, which was home made Mushroom soup was good, it was served in small bowls however there was enough. For the mains I had Haddock and chips, which was served hot and the haddock was a good size. My friend had a special, New York Corned Beef Hash, which was served with a fried egg on the top. We shared a dessert of Banoffee pie as we were quite full at this stage. This was simple but satisfying. I had a few pints of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, which was a good pale ale to wash it all down. This pub is not part of a chain, the food is home cooked to a good standard. I visit this place regularly and can recommend it as a good local pub.

Always really nice. Staff always really helpful. Meals are lovely. Nice dessert menu. Coffee good too.

This place ticks every box. Probably the nearest you will get a to a proper country pub on the suburbs. Great home cooked food.

Visited the railway this week and we chose the gammon stake with chip, peas, tomato, mushrooms, and lovely onion rings. The meal was fresh and cooked to perfection,well done to the railway.

Called today for a late lunch, and it was delicious. Haggis suet pudding with mash and veg off the specials board for me and pie and chips with plenty of gravy for Mrs M. We have never been disappointed when eating here. Good quality home cooked food, pleasant staff, and well priced.

Visited the railway inn today and sadly regret it. Ordered the corned beef hash special, only to be told they had run out. Why didn't they inform of what was and wasn't available to begin with. We then both ordered the ham, chips and eggs!! Well, you wouldn't think to much could go wrong with this simple request. CHIPS were uncooked and the gammon was grey / green in colour. We sent them back only to be confronted by a very rude little man with some old hag, presumably the landlady muttering and giving out dirty looks. The man suggested to my wife that she looked elsewhere to eat in future as he remembered her complaining before on some far distant previous occasion. I've had 3 meals there and all have been disappointing!Today just was vile and left us feeling poorly. The gammon was green and smelt bad. Wake up before you kill someone. Reporting this place to EHO and beyond. They should not be trading and the rude guy that spoke to us in that manner should not be in the hospitality industry. Not sure where he should be, come to think of it.

We’ve been to the railway a few times now on Sundays so and always enjoy the food, the Sunday dinner is lovely generous portions too, lots of choice on the menu and it’s always busy which shows how popular it is, even though it’s busy the service is efficient and the waiters are professional and friendly.

Very disappointed in the Railway last night. Ordered steak strip in pepper sauce with rice. Was told they had run out of rice. What restaurant runs out of a staple like rice?? Had to have it with chips. Ruined my meal.

Lovely place, nice food, atmosphere but.....

Visited the Railway as a change of scenery we ordered the gammon, what a great meal cooked to perfection. The only negative was the very noisy customers stood at the bar,which spoiled the meal,so it will be a while before we visit again.

Just had Sunday lunch, basically a £5 lunch for nearly£10. Mash , carrots, BROCCOLI, BROCCOLI uncooked, seasoning balls tasted likemade of sawdust, home made Yorkshire frozen and reheated I think. Absolutely tasteless meal , not seasoned at all. Like a corner cafe version of Sunday lunch.
