Ragini in East Devon

Really surprised at the high reviews. Was passing through for work and popped in as read the great reviews. The food was nice, but the service was not so much. The lady was very rude, and I was ushered out as they said they needed to close whilst

I came as part of a group for a meal on the weekend. The food was all delicious, lovely warm crispy poppadoms and soft fluffy peshwari naan. The curries were great, and everything came out at the same time. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We would go again if we were in the area.

This place has won a number of awards in recent years and deservedly so. The food was very authentic in flavour and the staff friendly and accommodating of dietary requirements. Surprisingly good value for money relative to the quality of food.

First time using this place was ok at best ( korma) Sauce was gritty , and quite thin and hardly any of it , rice was very crispy dry and bland , Peshwari naan was again tasteless and thin . But the poppadoms were good thou ! Will continue to use monsoon

Fantastic meal with my family. Food was delicious and the service was excellent! I do not often tip but I was absolutely delighted with the way the waitress engaged with my daughter (the mint sauce with the poppadoms was the best I've ever had)

We've been here twice in the last two weeks we live is Seaton and have visited Ragini last year with our son and his partner and 5 year old grandson which was great but our eldest son came down 2 weeks ago to stay with us he is vegetarian and really fussy with his food asked what they recommend and went with their choice we went for the early bird menu both having Chicken Rogan which was delicious with pilau rice onion barge samosa it was delicious we had poppadoms and chutneys and naan bread. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We loved it so much we went back by ourselves last week and it was just as good Lovely relaxing atmosphere very reasonably priced. We will be back. Thank you all so much.

To start, a lovely atmosphere when you walk in. Decor and vibe spot on. Tables just the right distance from each other to have your own time and space. Staff friendly and attentive, when I asked for their opinion of which speciality dish to try, once I had advised of my base taste preferences, came up with a few good suggestions. No cheap wine on the list, but they've gone for quality. If you want cheap, go somewhere else. If you want an excellent meal and dining experience, I'd highly recommend. I'd put this Indian food dining experience without doubt in my top 3.

We have dined here many times. Mostly (not always) the food is great. Unfortunately the service has been spoiled by the younger female member of staff. Terrible attitude (on two separate occasions) she seems to think that she is doing paying customers a favour by serving them. I spoke to the owner and whilst he agreed that there was a problem with her attitude refused to do anything about it. We find it amazing that a business would employ someone with that attitude in a customer facing role. We will not return.

The food was truly amazing with beautiful presentation. The decor is stunning and beautifully reminiscent of my homeland. The authenticity of the restaurant is remarkable. It's a perfect place for a family dinner.

As always Ragini provides an awesome quality Indian meal with a great balance of flavour at a reasonable price. On this visit we found the service a little lacking, with the server choosing to re-lay a few tables before coming over to us to take our order (even after kindly prompting her we were ready to order). Perhaps it had just been a busy day or potentially under staffed. Atmosphere is nice with ambient backgound music and low lighting. Overall a good visit, mainly due to the food quality!

So happy to find a delivery when staying in Beer as eating options were limited there. Fast delivery, good portion and wide variety.

Lovely restaurant. Welcoming staff, lovely atmosphere (almost jazz club like) with modern but very cosy styling. Great, interesting menu for all tastes. I had quite possibly the best peshwari naan I've ever had there. Has to be tried if visiting the area. A perfect stop off during a walking holiday along the South Coast Path.

Had a meal delivered from here which was on time and all good. Will use again when back in the area.

I wholeheartedly recommend for all adult tourists to visit the restaurant "Ragini" in the small town Seaton, in the county Devon, UK! We visited Seaton on 4th of April 2024. After a good walk along the coast, we got hungry and returned to have dinner at our Primer Inn hotel, but the restaurant wasn't working for some technical reasons. So, the time was 8.30 pm, my husband and I were very hungry, but all pubs and supermarkets around were closed (Sunday!) We were walking to find any place for any food! Fortunately, we saw a big sideboard with tiger and name "Ragini" - the restaurant! It was our salvation! We went inside and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere: a very elegant design in etno style, delicious smells of food, pleasant music. It was the Bengali restaurant! We ordered Vegetable thali and Chicken thali (each costs £18). My husband ordered a glass of wine, and I chose a Cobra beer. A very beautiful serving of the dish! Very tasty food and large portions! The staff is very pleasant and friendly - only relatives work. They are all happy to communicate with visitors, answer at all their questions, talk about national cuisine and even share cooking recipes with some visitors (😊with me)! 👏Now I know how to cook Ladies fingers 🥳🤣 This restaurant receives various awards every year! A very polite gentleman delivered our 2 day feast this evening, and the lady who took my order by phone was great too. Food is a delicious no cook, no shop, Easter weekend treat and reasonable too.

I can not eat wheat, gluten, dairy or soya. What an amazing place. We just love it. I can have a considerable amount of the menu, including onion bhajis.

Nice to see a modern Indian restaurant, a different style of menu than we were used too, and we enjoyed it No tablecloths! First time I've seen that in an Indian! Loos clean and modern

Excellent quality whether you eat in or take out, the delivery service is great. The food is fresh and the portions are also good. We mostly have takeaway but we have also dined in multiple times in the past few years and we have never been disappointed.

A really comprehensive menu with dishes I've never come across before,we ordered 2 of the signature dishes as a takeaway the food was excellent And it was ready on time I would definitely recommend to try this restaurant

I like to think as myself as a curry connoisseur. I lived in west london near to southhall for 12 years. Curries have changed over the years ie different styles of cooking. This evening I had a curry from Ragini and I felt like we were going back to traditional curry. The supermarkets are improving but there's nothing like a fresh cooked curry. And Ragini delivered tonight. The best curry in the area. You can see why they've won awards. Excellent well done.

Great food, many new things to me that I haven’t seen on a regular Indian restaurant menu, if you are not sure what to order from the large menu just ask, our waitress was fantastic at working out what suited your taste. Highly recommend.

What an amazing find, beautiful setting, lovely staff and outstanding food. Having worked across the UK, this establishment stands out from the majority of average restaurants and we will recommend that everyone visiting Seaton discovers this amazing culinary delight for themselves.

Stumbled across this place and what a delight. Superb tasting food, great flavours and some good levels of heat on the hotter specials. Will certainly be going back. Just a shame we don't live nearby to allow us to get takeaway. Family 4 (yes fussy kid also had chips)

Went there on Saturday for my sister's 70th birthday what a restaurant the food and staff was brilliant was here with family for the weekend came from Northampton France Hampshire sister lives in Seaton with husband will definitely return when next in Seaton

We ordered from Ragini for a birthday takeaway. The food was absolutely delicious - some fantastic veggie and vegan options too. Fresh, flavourful and delectable … and not at all oily! All the better for being delivered in foil and not plastic - the eco-friendly option! We’ll definitely order again and would highly recommend.

Went with family when visiting the area and really appreciated different menu items from a lot of other South Indian restaurants. The food is light and well prepared using local products.

Fantastic chicken tikka jalfrezi the best we've ever had! (Lady chef, wife of one of the owners) dansak was tasty too!

What a shame , we are on a caravan park have a well earned holiday, we had a set menu for 2 delivered 4 days ago absolutely amazing, but today very poor , greasy , food cartons were messy!!! We asked for garlic Nan ( no taste) we asked for a menu nothing, how can it differ on 2 different nights, what a shame I will now try the competition next door !!!

Staff was not friendly, it took nearly 1 hour for food, food tast was not good.

I contacted Ragini on Facebook to find out some extra information about the ingredients of certain dishes. They were very quick to respond. They were also very polite. The food was lovely. The only reason for 4 stars is the naan was ever so slightly undercooked which meant you could taste raw dough. Another minute in the oven and it would have been great. The same with the onions bahjis. Undercooked in the middle. But If I'm ever in the area again I will place another order and hope it was a one off

Not sure why this place only have a 4.4 to be honest! The food is amazing, we had meat and vege curries and sides + naans… basically half the menu haha and everything was fantastic! Right level of everything, the meat was tender, nothing negative to say. We ordered take away, the man at reception was so nice and helpful and on top of that, the price is very attractive! Would absolutely recommend.

Costly, not enough quantity not happy with my experience. And sure that's not Indian food. Just playing with dish names.

Fish tikka : it was not done in tandoor , was soggy. Dal tarka: where is the tarka ( ghee, cumin, etc) ? It was boiled overcooked daal. Chole: no ginger/garlic… coriander 🌿 Don’t know how to make Indian food..? It’s Bangladeshi food. Aloo ghobi: cauliflower was not cooked still raw… only aloo🥔 was cooked. Rotis were soft & nice. Veg rice was good. Overall not nice but seaton nothing else to eat it’s a very quiet town so had to order.

My wife and I recently dined at Ragini and was blown away by the quality of both the food and the service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly. Owners made excellent recommendations. The appetizers were delicious, and our entrees were cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was stunning. To top it off, food was heavenly. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly, making for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Ragini for anyone looking for exceptional Bangladeshi/Indian cuisine and service.

Sadly these people no longer honour bookings, so don't bother.

Every Brit loves a good curry and this place nailed it. All the food was cooked fresh and the tandoori chicken starter was probably the best I've had. Very friendly service. Nice to have service with a smile. I think my only negative was the décor. Don't get me wrong the place was clean but It really could do with a modern revamp. I think if they did that the place would boom. But it's all about the food and it was bang on , up there with some of the best curry house's in the country. My bill came to £33.00 this included a large Cobra beer, lamb Madras, mushroom rice, poppadoms, mixed chuckny's and tandoori chicken starter. Highly recommended.

Never have had a bad meal or dinner here, food is always fragrant and flavourful! I recommend eating in as it looks very pleasant (modern interior, also nice and warm!) I won’t write anymore as nobody will read it, but if your this far, go for it - let the food do the talking. Thanks guys!

Beautiful food and lovely service. One of the best Indian restaurants we've come across and we've been to quite a few all across Wales and even Bristol. Fresh ingredients, authentic dishes and a lovely atmosphere. 5 stars all round. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

We've just had a superb meal here at the Ragini. The dishes we had were cooked to perfection, beautifully spiced and well presented. A notch up from your regular curry house. The staff were very pleasant and informative. We'll definitely be returning when we next visit Seaton.

Ragini is an absolute gem of a restaurant, hidden in Seatown. Every dish we had was a fresh delight, and the staff were exceptionally generous and accommodating when our large family showed up unannounced. The food is exquisite.

This place is fantastic. The Bengal food is out of this world. Literally the best takeaway we've had in years, and we have some very good local restaurants at home. Had to go in the next day and congratulate the staff - it was THAT GOOD. Well recommended. Just wish they were my local restaurant.

Unfortunately knocked over my bowl of rice.The waiter scooped some of the rice from the laying on the table back into the bowl,then kindly gave me a fresh bowl.But,and a big but he left the spilt rice on the bench seat and all over the floor and the table was still messy.There were vacant tables next to us and could have offered one of those.

Absolutely couldn't fault anything with our meal. The meat was lovely and soft and the curries were full of flavour. Also the staff were really friendly

Went to an 80th birthday party 25th May 2022. We were 10 in our party. BYO there is no corkage charge. Staff were excellent, very attentive. We had the early bird menu 6pm-7pm. Side dishes were ordered. I found the samosa and onion bhaji shop bought, otherwise the food was very nice. We brought several bottles of wine,. Water and glasses were provided free of charge. a nice clean restaurant. I didn't use the toilets so cannot comment.

The food was delicious, especially the crispy lentil fritters and the mango aubergine curry. The interior is very cool and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Came here on a recommendation. The menu looked very exciting, the decor lovely and vibrant. Unfortunately almost everything on the table was very bland, and poorly spiced. Not worth the price. It's a shame because what we ordered from the specials list sounded great but delivered so little.

We went on the night of the Christmas tree lighting. There were lots of people but we were seated right away. The food was very tasty and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely go again.

Service was extremely slow for a quiet night. The waitress was serving people who came in after us. When food eventually arrived it was barely warm. Would not recommend and will not be returning

We went for the Early Bird offer and were very impressed with the friendly service, the tasty dishes and the general ambience of the place. A good varied menu, even for vegetarians and vegans. It got busier later so book just in case. Bring your own alcohol too. Highly recommended.
