Really lovely food: one of us had the curry of the day, the other a mac cheese. Very tasty and promptly served. Excellent value too. Staff very courteous and attentive, couldn't fault a thing.

Nice to have a few Fyne Ales in The Rafters at Castle Sween - with some relaxed music and #Bobby’sBanter in full swing. Lovely meal by #ChefStephen Sticky cauliflower wings were amazing followed by Veggie Linguine (for the veggies amongst us with a few new veggie choices on the menu). Defo not short of choice. The fish and chips was lovely with crispy batter, homemade chips and light and fresh tartare sauce. Good fish and seafood options on the menu for lunch and dinner. Desserts were pretty good too with homemade tarts, sticky toffee pudding and brownies. Pop in and enjoy. Lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or cocktails - the afternoon scones and tarts looked yum too!

We found this place totally by accident but what a find -it’s next to Sween Castle I had the Cullen Skink and my other half had the Caesar Salad - both were delicious It’s adjacent to the holiday park The decor is lovely and we got a warm welcome I highly recommend this place

My favourite music was playing as I drank my favourite ale and had a superb meal in my favourite place. The Brulo Sabro Galaxy no alcohol beer is the most delicious no alcohol beer we have ever tried and The Trail Finder on draught is the most perfect ale imaginable. The food was absolutely superb and the service was relaxed and friendly. I've going to Rafters since 1987 and the food has never been so good. The team are doing a brilliant job and I can't wait to back. Perfect.

Food was tasty and plenty of choice, though maybe a bit light on choices for vegetarians. Service was good and the choice of music a bonus. However, we were told it was busy and could only choose from two booking times but during our two hours or so there the restaurant was not full, eighteen people in total over three hours!

Fantastic restaurant and bar with amazing hosts Bobby and Kirsteen. Dinner was amazing lots of choices all delicious and friendly priced. Best to book a reservation. Lunch is also fabulous. The bar is great with a nice selection of whiskies and beers and they do different special themed dinner nights every Tuesday. Wether you just come and visit Castle Sween or you’re staying at the holiday camp, this is a must go to!!!

Well worth a visit, Rafters offers relaxed dining with a varied menu to suit most tastes and budgets. I had scallops with haggis crumb starter followed by fresh mackeral fillet in Korean style sauce, on tosted sourdough topped with poached egg and avocado. Both courses delicious. My wife loved the more conventional home made steak pie. Also open for lunch and afternoon tea, coffee, drinks etc.

Rafters is now a real revelation for food. Kirsten and Bobby have invested a lot of time and effort in making Rafters a place to go for an excellent meal. We had a range of dishes from the short but thoughtful menu and they were all very good. Service is friendly and the beer (Fyne Ales) is first class. Well worth a visit when you are on the site and worth a trip out of your way if you are not. Well done Castle Sween!

We arrived at the caravan site and I couldn’t be bothered to cook so we ordered prawn cocktail and then macaroni cheese and chips. It was delicious. Both were piping hot and very tasty. On our last night we decided to do the same. I started off with the garlic mushrooms and we both had the macaroni cheese again. This time the macaroni wasn’t as good. It was very runny and unfortunately the chips weren’t cooked. The mushrooms were yummy scrummy though. It was probably our fault the second time because the restaurant had just opened up for the evening. It won’t put us off as our meal at the beginning of the week was BRILLIANT!

Our trip to the Rafters, was unannounced, so we were to have our meal in the bar area, as a couple of large parties were due “any minute”. They must have been delayed, because we were then invited to dine in the main room, which also doubles as a kiddies disco on Wedneday evenings. The pate starter ame with oatcakes, and was delicious ,and the fish was fresh, well cooked and served with chips and mushy peas( not my favourite). The young staaff were attentive, efficient, and keen to please. Reasonably priced, it’s best to book beforehand, unless you wish to eat in the bar area.

Castle ruin, worth a visit. No suitable parking places for this visit, you have to park on the road, no parking spaces at all, outside the caravan park as the caravan club doesn't allow you to drive to the castle. It is a bit of a walk and you have to walk through the caravan park to get to it. It’s a beautiful old ruin and well worth a visit.

We spent two weeks at the caravan site, and this was the only eatery within about 12 miles, so very welcome when we didn't feel like cooking, and we came several times. Although classed as a restaurant, it is more like the separate dining area of a good pub (they also do bar meals in the bar next door, which we didn't try). The meals we had were in keeping with this - very good pub meals from an interesting menu, but not gastro-pub (thank goodness!). The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent. At their suggestion, we waited with drinks at a table in the bar area until the dishes we had chosen were ready, and we were well looked-after throughout. Prices are about what you'd expect.

Wasn't sure what to expect of this restaurant and was very pleasantly surprised. Menu is reasonably imaginative with an understandable emphasis on fish and shellfish. Food was very good, fresh and cooked to order with good portion sizes. Local ingredients appear to be used where possible and prices were sensible. Service was enthusiastic and friendly. They are due to close for the winter shortly however we'll certainly return when they open again in the spring.

Wonderful meal (for a caravan site) ; this type of food would be well received in a 4 star restaurant in the City, but you would never expect such well prepared food on a caravan site. Even if you are not staying on site, it would be worth a visit to enjoy the food and superb views, best call first to book a table as it is 12 miles down a single track road (they are not open on Wednesdays so be careful!). We have eaten here twice now in a few weeks and food was great each time and we tried different dishes each time), not dirt cheap, but not very expensive either. All in all very good value and staff very friendly.

Visited the restaurant and caravan park THIS weekend with my husband and 9 year old daughter and we all loved it.This is a family run place with many of the site residents being caravan owners who love watersports. As a result, the place is well looked after, very welcoming and very relaxing. The 'hired' caravan we had was spotlessly clean, well stocked with cutlery and crockery and well situated. It really is a place for kids to be kids again and to get back to nature. The restaurant is 2nd to none. The food is freshly cooked to order, very generous portions and very reasonably priced. My daughter actually ate a FULL 3-course meal for the 1st time in her life - so that says something (and no I am not an awful cook)! The castle is amazing as all historic building are - yes there was evidence of one or two scumbags who threw rubbish away rather than take it to the nearest bin but this was minimal - the place is obviously well looked after. We will all definitely go back.

After appalling service at Duck Bay we went here for lunch. Warmly welcomed. High chair for my grandson and the lovely waitress brought a bowl of water for the dog. Food was amazing and we were able to eat it indoors without being rained on because we had the dog (as happened at Duck Bay)! She also brought a treat for the dog. This place is fabulous and welcoming. Had a wonderful lunch and will definitely be back. 5 star service and food.

Seriously over rated & expensive. Stopped for a quick breakfast. Service was so slow that we'd finished a pot of tea by the time the food arrived. Ordered toast, avocado and poached eggs. Toast was cold, eggs cold and avocado had some sort of green sludge mixed through it with toasted oats and seeds on top. Not what was ordered. Not what was on the menu and I had specifically said I wanted something plain. Don't bother - it's not worth it!!
